Lumiose Gym Battles (Part One)
The next day after having breakfast, Rolf goes to the front counter of the Lumiose City Pokemon Center to pick up his Pokemon after their battle with Austin; afterward, they exited the Pokemon Center.
"Who's ready to earn their fifth badge?" asked Kevin.
"I am!" said Jonny.
"Now that Rolf's Pokemon are healed, Rolf is also ready." said Rolf.
"Let's go!" said Nazz. The group begins walking towards the center of Lumiose City until they arrived at the Lumiose Gym. They entered inside and reached the battle arena.
"Hi!" they hear someone call out. The group looks to see a little girl with blonde hair tied in a side ponytail, wearing a brown shirt with a black ribbon tied to a bow on it, a puffy white skirt over black shorts, and pink shoes while carrying a yellow bag over her shoulder; standing next to her was a boy with blonde hair, wearing a light blue jumpsuit with a yellow collar and yellow stripes around the knees and bottom cuffs, round glasses, and black and white shoes.
"Hey, is one of you the gym leader?" asked Kevin.
"That would be me." replied the boy. "I'm Clemont, the leader of the Lumiose Gym." He then motions towards the little girl. "This is my little sister, Bonnie."
"Pleased to meet you two." Nazz called out. Clemont blushes at the sight of Nazz. Bonnie notices this and giggles. Clemont shakes his head to regain his stupor.
"Are any of you here to challenge me?" asked Clemont.
"You bet!" said Jonny as he gives Plank to Kevin and runs to one end of the battle arena.
"Very well." replied Clemont. He walks to the other end of the battle arena while Kevin, Rolf, Nazz, and Bonnie walk to the stand and sits. A robot walks to the side of the arena.
"Is that a robot?" asked Kevin.
"Yes; this is Clembot. He referees my matches and sometimes when I'm busy inventing, he substitutes for me." said Clemont. "The future is now, thanks to science."
"That is so cool!" said Nazz, making Clemont blush. He regains his focus and faces Jonny.
"What's your name?" asked Clemont.
"Jonny." replied Jonny.
"This is an official gym battle between Clemont the gym leader and Jonny the challenger." said Clembot. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the match begin." Jonny and Clemont each pull out a pokeball.
"Emolga, go!" said Clemont as he throws a pokeball, releasing a white Pokemon that resembled a flying squirrel that has a black head, white face, and has yellow cheeks and wingflaps. Kevin points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Emolga, the Sky Squirrel Pokemon. The energy made in its cheeks' electric pouches is stored inside its membrane and released while it is gliding." said the pokedex.
"It's so cute!" said Nazz.
"Linoone, go!" said Jonny, throwing Linoone's pokeball and releasing him.
"Emolga, Quick Attack!" said Clemont. Emolga flies at Linoone with incredible speed and rams him, knocking him back.
"Linoone, Tail Whip!" said Jonny. Linoone runs at Emolga and wags his tail onto it, weakening its defense.
"Volt Switch!" said Clemont. Emolga forms a yellow orb of electricity in its paws and launches it at Linoone, hitting him. Emolga suddenly returns to its pokeball due to Volt Switch returning the Pokemon that uses it to its pokeball; another pokeball in Clemont's belt opens, releasing a Pokemon that looks like three metal spheres with with an eye and two magnets on each one stuck together in a triangular formation. Kevin points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Magneton, the Magnet Pokemon and the evolved form of Magnemite. Generates strange radio signals. It raises the temperature by 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit within 3,300 feet." said the pokedex.
"Linoone, Mud Sport!" said Jonny. Linoone raises to his hind legs and slams his front paws to the ground, releasing mud onto the entire arena.
"Good move, man; now all electric type moves are weakened." said Kevin.
"But will it be enough?" asked Clemont. "Magenton, Thunderbolt!" Magenton releases a bolt of yellow electricity from its magnets, and it hits Linoone.
"Linoone, Tail Whip!" said Jonny. Linoone runs at Magneton and wags his tail onto it, weakening its defense.
"Mirror Shot!" said Clemont. Magneton fires a green beam of energy from its eyes, and it hits Linoone, knocking him to the ground. Linoone struggles to get up.
"Use Headbutt!" said Jonny. Linoone charges at Mangeton and rams him, doing moderate damage due to its defense being weakened and making Magneton flinch. "Use Headbutt again!" Linoone rams his head against Magneton again, knocking it back, but not making it flinch.
"Thunderbolt!" said Clemont. Magneton fires another bolt of electricity at Linoone, hitting him and knocking him out.
"Linoone is unable to battle; Magneton wins the match." said Clembot.
"You go, big brother!" cheered Bonnie.
"It's okay, man!" said Kevin.
"Don't give up!" said Nazz. Jonny returns Linoone to his pokeball.
"You did your best, Linoone." said Jonny. He puts Linoone's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Charmeleon!" He tosses Charmeleon's pokeball and releases him. "Charmeleon, Fire Fang!" Charmeleon charges at Magneton while his mouth was covered in flames and bites it, dealing major damage due to fire type moves being strong against steel type Pokemon and Magneton's defense being weakened. Magneton falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Magneton is unable to battle; Charmeleon wins the match." said Clembot.
"Right on, Charmeleon!" said Jonny.
"Way to go, Jonny!" said Kevin. Clemont returns Magneton to its pokeball.
"You did well, Magneton." said Clemont. He puts Magneton's pokeball away. He pulls out another pokeball and throws it, releasing Emolga.
"Emolga, Quick Attack!" said Clemont. Emolga flies at Charmeleon with incredible speed and rams him, making him take a step back.
"Use Fire Fang!" said Jonny. Charmeleon bites onto Emolga while it was still against him and bites it, hurting it. Emolga suddenly became covered in fire.
"Emolga's burned." said Nazz. Emolga flinches in pain from its burn and loses some stamina.
"Use Spark!" said Clemont. Emolga becomes surrounded by electricity and flies at Charmeleon; it rams into Charmeleon. Charmeleon becomes surrounded by electricty.
"Charmeleon's paralyzed!" said Jonny. "Charmeleon, Flame Burst!" Charmeleon fires an orange fireball from his mouth, and it hits Emolga, knocking it to the ground. As it struggles to get up, it gets burned and loses more stamina.
"Aerial Ace!" said Clemont. Emolga flies at Charmeleon with incredible speed while surrounded by white streaks of light and rams Charmeleon.
"Dragon Rage!" said Jonny. Charmeleon fights through his paralysis and launches a purple ball of energy from his mouth, and it hits Emolga, knocking it out.
"Emolga is unable to battle; Charmeleon wins the match." said Clembot.
"Great work, Charmeleon." said Jonny. Clemont returns Emolga to its pokeball.
"You were great out there, Emolga." said Clemont. He puts Emolga's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You're doing well so far, Jonny; but you have to beat my last Pokemon to earn a badge here. Heliolisk, go!" He tosses the pokeball and releases a bipedal, yellow, lizardlike Pokemon with a black head. Kevin points the pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Heliolisk, the Generator Pokemon and the evolved form of Helioptile. It stimulates its muscles with electricity, boosting the strength in its legs and enabling it to run 100 yards in five seconds." said the pokedex.
"Heliolisk, Thunderbolt!" said Clemont. Heliolisk releases a yellow bolt of lightning from its body, and it hits Charmeleon.
"Charmeleon, Flame Burst!" said Jonny. Charmeleon fights through his paralysis and fires another orange fireball at Heliolisk, hitting it.
"Charge!" said Clemont. Heliolisk becomes covered in sparks and his special defense increases.
"Fire Fang!" said Jonny. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Charmeleon in his tracks.
"Thunderbolt!" said Clemont. Heliolisk unleashes an even stronger bolt of lightning from its body, and it hits Charmeleon, knocking him out.
"Charmeleon is unable to battle; Heliolisk wins the match." said Clembot.
"Yay!" cheered Bonnie.
"You're doing good, man." said Kevin.
"Don't give up, Jonny!" said Nazz. Jonny returns Charmeleon to his pokeball.
"You were great out there." said Jonny. He puts Charmeleon's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Quilladin!" He tosses Quilladin's pokeball and releases him.
"Heliolisk, Quick Attack!" said Clemont. Heliolisk charges at Quilladin with incredible speed and rams him.
"Quilladin, Rock Smash!" Quilladin charges at Helioisk while his arm is glowing white and smashes it onto Heliolisk, dealing super effective damage due to Heliolisk being part normal, and weakening its defense.
"Pound!" said Clemont. Heliolisk runs at Quilladin and pounds him.
"Vine Whip!" said Jonny. Quilladin unleashes a pair of green vines from his back, and they hit Heliolisk, dealing major damage due to Rose Incense powering up Quilladin's grass type moves and Helioisk's defense being weakened.
"Heliolisk, Razor Wind!" said Clemont. Heliolisk's tail begins to glow white.
"Needle Arm!" said Jonny. Quilladin charges at Heliolisk while a green ball of energy with thorns forms on his hand and he hits Heliolisk with it. Heliolisk is sent flying back and lands on the ground. It struggles to get up.
"Razor Wind!" said Clemont. Heliolisk swings its tail, unleashing a blade of energy from it and it hits Quilladin, knocking him to the ground. As Quilladin struggles to get up, he becomes surrounded by a green aura.
"Quilladin's Overgrow ability!" said Jonny. "Okay, Quilladin, one more Needle Arm!" Quilladin leaps at Heliolisk while a brighter thorny ball of green energy forms on his arm and he hits Heliolisk with it; due to Overgrow and Rose Incense powering Needle Arm up, as well as Heliolisk's weakened defense, Needle Arm proved too much for Heliolisk and it falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Heliolisk is unable to battle; Quilladin wins the match. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Jonny." said Clembot.
"You did it, Quilladin!" said Jonny. Quilladin raises his arms in victory while Kevin, Rolf, and Nazz cheered while Bonnie gave a sad smile.
"You did your best, big brother." said Bonnie.
"Thanks, Bonnie." said Clemont as he returns Heliolisk to its pokeball. "And thank you, Heliolisk." He puts Heliolisk's pokeball away and walks to Jonny. "Congratulation, Jonny."
"Thanks, Clemont." said Jonny. Clemont reaches into his pocket and pulls out a badge that looked like an orange shield with yellow lightning bolts shooting out of it.
"As proof of your victory here, I reward you with the Voltage Badge." said Clemont. Jonny takes the Voltage Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Right on! I got the Voltage Badge!" said Jonny as he holds up his Voltage Badge. After Jonny returns Quilladin to his pokeball, Clemont turned towards the rest of the group. "Which of you will be challenging me next?"
"Rolf will battle you next." replied Rolf, standing up.
"As soon as I get my Pokemon healed, we will have our battle." said Clemont.
"I'm going to get my Pokemon healed too, guys." said Jonny. He and Clemont exit the gym while Rolf walked onto the arena and stood where Jonny did.
Twenty minutes later, Clemont and Jonny return from the Pokemon Center; with Jonny joining his friends in the bleachers, while Clemont goes to where he stood during his previous battle.
"Are you ready for our battle?" asked Clemont.
"Rolf is ready." said Rolf. Clembot walks to the center of the arena.
"This is an official gym battle between Clemont the gym leader and Rolf the challenger." said Clembot. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon; the battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer who still has Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the match begin." Clemont and Rolf each pull out a pokeball. Clemont throws his, releasing his Emolga; Rolf throws his, releasing his Diggersby.
"Emolga, use Aerial Ace!" said Clemont. Emolga flies towards Diggersby and slams into him.
"Diggersby, use Strength!" said Rolf. Diggersby quickly grabs Emolga with his ears and slams it to the ground hard.
"Emolga, use Quick Attack!" said Rolf. Emolga quickly flies at Diggersby and slams into his stomach.
"Diggersby, use Take Down!" said Rolf. Diggersby charges at Emolga and slams into it, sending it flying to the floor, with himself suddenly taking recoil damage.
"Hurry and use Aerial Ace again!" said Clemont. Emolga slowly gets up and flies into the air; it then flies at Diggersby and slams into his head.
"Diggersby, use Double Slap!" said Rolf. Diggersby repeatedly slaps Emolga with his ears, which eventually takes its toll and knocks it out.
"Emolga is unable to battle. Diggersby is the winner." said Clembot.
"Way to go, Rolf!" said Jonny.
"Keep it up, man!" said Kevin.
"Wow. These trainers are amazing!" said Bonnie. Clemont had to agree as he returns his Emolga to its pokeball. He then puts it into his pocket and pulls out another one. He then throws it, releasing his Magneton.
"Magneton, use Magnet Bomb!" said Clemont. Magneton releases a bunch of small metal orbs from its body which fly at Diggersby and explode on contact with his body, doing damage.
"Diggersby, use Mud Shot!" said Rolf. Diggersby launches large globs of mud at Magneton, doing a lot of super effective damage, due to it being part steel and part electric; both being vulnerable to ground attacks. Also, its speed was reduced. "Now use Mud-Slap!" Diggersby whips some mud into the Magneton's eyes, doing more super effective damage, and lowering its accuracy.
"Hurry and use Mirror Shot!" said Clemont. Magneton reflects light from its body towards Diggersby, but the mud in its eyes made it miss.
"Diggersby, use Double Kick!" said Rolf. Diggersby turns to Magneton and leaps at it, giving it two solid kicks, which do enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Magneton is unable to battle. Diggersby is the winner." said Clembot.
"Awesome!" said Nazz.
"Diggersby beat two of Clemont's Pokemon in a row!" said Jonny.
"Just one more, dude!" said Kevin.
"Diggersby is, how you say, in the zone." said Rolf. Clemont returns Magneton to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Magneton." said Clemont.
"What are you going to do, big brother?" Bonnie asked Clemont.
"I'm going to turn this around." said Clemont as he puts Magneton's pokeball back into his pocket and pulls out his last one. He throws it, releasing his Heliolisk. "Now, Heliolisk, use Grass Knot!" Suddenly, grass grew out of the floor and wrap around Diggersby's feet, making him lose balance and fall forward, doing super effective damage to him.
"What the..." Kevin responded.
"I know that ground types have a big advantage over electric types, so I had Heliolisk learn a move to deal with them." said Clemont. Everyone looks at Diggersby as he struggles to get to his feet.
"Diggersby, use Mud Shot!" said Rolf. Diggersby launches more globs at mud at Heliolisk, doing super effective damage to it, and lowering its speed.
"A speed decrease won't matter with Quick Attack." said Clemont as Heliolisk dashes towards Diggersby and slams into him. After his battles with Emolga and Magneton, Diggersby reached his limit and passes out.
"Diggersby is unable to battle. Heliolisk is the winner." said Clembot.
"Hooray!" cheered Bonnie. "Heliolisk beat Diggersby!"
"I admit that Diggersby was a tough opponent to deal with." said Clemont as he lets out a sigh of relief.
"Rolf appreciates the compliment to his Diggersby." said Rolf as he returns Diggersby to his pokeball. "Rolf is pleased with Diggersby." He then puts Diggersby's pokeball back into his pocket and pulls out another one; he then throws it, releasing his Gogoat. "Gogoat, use Rock Smash!" Gogoat runs at Heliolisk, rears up, and slams his head into Heliolisk's face, doing super effective damage.
"Heliolisk, use Charge!" said Clemont. Heliolisk starts gathering energy into its body.
"Gogoat, use Seed Bomb!" said Rolf. Gogoat launches large seeds at Heliolisk and they explode on contact, damaging it. Heliolisk was breathing hard, which Bonnie notices.
"You better do something before Heliolisk loses." said Bonnie.
"I'm on it." said Clemont. "Heliolisk, use Parabolic Charge!" Heliolisk releases a surge of blue electricity from its body, and it hits Gogoat, not doing a lot of damage due to grass types being resistant to electricity. The electricity is suddenly drawn back into its body, and it starts to heal.
"Why is Heliolisk getting better?" asked Jonny.
"Parabolic Charge replenishes Heliolisk's stamina by half of what it took from Gogoat." said Clemont.
"Not a problem, Rolf!" said Kevin. "It probably didn't take a lot because Gogoat can handle electric attacks!"
"That is good." said Rolf. "Gogoat! Use Take Down!" Gogoat quickly charges at Heliolisk and rams into it hard, sending it flying to the ground, and also damaging himself. Heliolisk tried to get up, but it reached its limit and passes out.
"Heliolisk is unable to battle. Gogoat is the winner. The winner of the gym battle is the challenger, Rolf." said Clembot.
"You did it, Rolf!" said Kevin.
"Way to go, dude!" said Nazz.
"Right on!" said Jonny.
"Give it up for Rolf, everyone!" said Rolf. Gogoat runs up to Rolf and nuzzles his cheek. Clemont returns Heliolisk to its pokeball.
"You were great, Heliolisk." said Clemont. He returns Heliolisk to its pokeball, puts it into his pocket, and walks over to Rolf. "You're a strong trainer, Rolf."
"Thank you." said Rolf. Clemont reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Voltage Badge, along with some pokedollars.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with the Voltage Badge." said Clemont. Rolf smiles as he takes the Voltage Badge, along with the pokedollars.
"Rolf has won the Voltage Badge!" said Rolf as he holds up his new gym badge in triumph. Clemont looks over at Kevin and Nazz.
"So, who am I battling next?" asked Clemont. Nazz steps forward.
"I'm up next." said Nazz with a smile, making Clemont blush.
"O-Okay, I'll be right back after I get my Pokemon healed." said Clemont. Bonnie noticed Clemont stutter, and chuckles in response.
"Rolf will also get his Pokemon healed as well." said Rolf. He and Clemont exit the gym, and Nazz sits where Rolf was and plans on what Pokemon she will use.
Jonny and Rolf have both won Voltage Badges. Will Nazz and Kevin win theirs? Wait and find out.
