I thought I'd start today's chapter off by addressing something that I somehow, to this point, still haven't addressed, and that is the upcoming television show based on Joanne's books. Supposedly, this is going to be a lot more accurate than those films were. I say accurate, I mean obviously being based on those books they won't be completely accurate, but still, I hope they don't take the piss when it comes to me this time! If they do, then, well, that's better left unsaid actually...
I began by smashing my fist into my pillow several times, then hurling it in a random direction, and it ended up hitting Demelza in the face with such force that she fell backwards off her bed onto the floor!
"ARGH! Ginny what the fuck?!" she yelled.
I ignored her and started slamming my fists into my mattress! I couldn't believe it! 2 years in a row now Amanda had lost the title at the final race, and this time was even worse, on the final fucking lap?! Nah man, that was a fucking piss take, I wasn't having it! I started throwing other things around the room, my alarm clock, clothes, books, I didn't see or hear the dormitory door opening and Amy coming in, because of our silencing spell. I only knew she was there because she removed the spell and pushed me hard against my mattress!
"What. The. Fuck. Are. You. Doing?" she said, through roughly gritted teeth.
I pushed hard back against her, but she wouldn't budge, her beater arms being put to frustratingly good use here, pinning mine down flat on the bed.
"I'm not letting you go unless you promise not to resume that lunatic behaviour!"
"Lunatic behaviour? What do you mean, don't you understand what's just happened?!" I said
"Whatever it is, it doesn't justify you acting like a fucking toddler!"
"I second that!" said Demelza, standing up and rubbing her arm "quite honestly that was pathetic Ginny, how old are you, 13, or 1.3?"
"Come on D, are you not feeling upset?"
"Of course I am mate, but I'm not destroying the dormitory, doing that isn't gonna change anything"
I turned my head in both directions, which was difficult and painful because Amy was still pinning me down, and saw the mess I'd made. Suddenly I felt very guilty. I sighed.
"Look, I'm sorry, I just- I just don't take stuff like this very well" I said
"That" replied Demelza "is obvious. And it's going to need to change very quickly, you can't be acting like that as a pro Quidditch player. Sport is very cruel and harsh sometimes, and there is no doubt you're going to experience it during your career. Hell, there could even still be moments like that left in your Hogwarts days. So buck up your ideas!"
"Alright, alright. Can you let me go now please?" I said to Amy
"Only if you look me right in the eyes and promise you'll never do this again!"
I glanced at Demelza, who closed her eyes and nodded firmly, showing that there was no room for negotiation here.
I looked directly at Amy and said "I promise I'll never do this again"
Amy finally released me and stood up. I sat up, rubbing my now badly throbbing arms from where Amy had been gripping them.
"You know, your grip is bloody incredible" I said, temporarily forgetting that we weren't currently on good terms. I gave her the slightest flicker of a smile, and for a second I could have sworn there was one in return, but Amy just mumbled an awkward "thanks" and walked out of the room.
"You back on her side then?" I asked Demelza
"I never left her side. I've stayed friends with both of you through all of this. Anyway, you've got a mess to clean up"
"Can you help me?"
Demelza raised an eyebrow and gave me a very questioning look
"Excuse me?"
"Yeah alright then, my mess, my clean up". I reached for my wand on my bedside table.
"Oh no you don't" said Demelza suddenly, and she snatched my wand up and stuffed it behind her bed. "You've got to do it the hard way. Manually"
"Bloody hell Demelza, surely this is overkill? You're not my mum!"
"I might as well be with how hot headed and immature you've acted recently!" she snapped back "just do it, you need to learn there's consequences to your actions!"
I gave her a pained look, but she just stared back at me, and it was clear she wasn't going to budge. Humiliated beyond belief, I began clearing everything up, which took ages to do by hand.
"You know, I'm convinced this isn't going to be of any use to me once I'm an adult" I told her as I was picking some books up from the foot of her bed "and it would be so much easier and faster if you just let me use my wand, I could have it done in seconds"
"Yeah well, not everything can be done the fast and easy way" said Demelza, who was now reading the Harpies magazine and didn't bother looking up. "You need to learn from your mistakes Ginny"
"What's Resa saying this month then?" I asked. Resa Reymond, the team manager, wrote articles for the magazine, which were published on the first page. "Anderson coming back soon?" Emily Anderson was our new chaser, who had suffered an injury in pre season, meaning she hadn't actually made her competitive debut yet.
"I'll show you when you're done"
"Bloody hell, you're enjoying this ego flex aren't you?"
"Or I might not show you at all if you keep that attitude up"
"You would never do this to Amy, Hermione or Luna"
Demelza laughed
"Ginny, none of them would throw a tantrum just because their favourite flyer didn't win the title"
"It was more the manner of the loss rather than the loss itself"
"Again, as I said before, you need to learn to deal with heartbreak"
"Oh yeah, humiliation is definitely the best way for me to learn that"
"Well, it might make you think twice before doing it again"
I bit my lip. She did have a point to be fair to her.
I finished the rest of the job in silence then joined her in reading the magazine.
