Orion was sitting in the forest meditating and humming this morning. She awoke a little late and couldn't find Krillin, Master Roshi or Oolong. So she headed to the forest to meditate. She loved nature. It was a feeling she enjoyed especially since… Well that planet she loved. She was glad they taught her a lot of things, but she wasn't interested in fighting nor training. And she had no attachments and no feelings to protect anyone so she didn't have to use her immense strength.
As she meditated she saw a bird land on her head. She smiled gently and sighed. The serenity of this forest and ambience she had enjoyed makes her happy. To finally be at peace. The silence was interrupted once she heard large footsteps come into the area and a monotone voice speak.
"Who are you?" The Monotone voice said, the bird immediately flew off. Orion's face fell as she noticed the bird flying off, well there goes an afternoon of quaint silence. She gets up and dusts herself off her tail swaying from side to side.
"I'm Orion." She said, a one word response.
"Orion. That name isn't registered in my database." It said, Orion scoffs and laughs.
"What are you, actually to be more specific, what is your name?" Orion asked curiously.
"I do not have a designated name, I have a serial number I am referred to, my name is Android 16." The now aforementioned Android 16 said. Orion looked at the Android and narrowed her eyes.
"Well, Android 16, if you want, I can give you a name. Or a nickname… Hm." She said, circling around him curiously, before catching a glimpse of the Red Ribbon Army Logo on his belt, and thinking for a moment, she remembered seeing a person that looked exactly like Android 16, who was the son of Gero. She thinks back to the magazine she read at the Kame House and then back to Android 16.
"A Nickname? Nicknames are something humans give to each other to show they care? Correct?" Android 16 asked, Orion shrugs.
"I suppose so, I mean, I am giving you one because Android 16 is a mouthful to say." She said,
"A… nickname would be nice…" Android 16 said.
Orion smirked. "Then a Nickname you shall have. Now let's see, you look a lot like Gero's son, Gevo. I remember seeing him somewhere when looking at you. So how's about that? Your name is now Gevo." Orion said.
"Gevo… It's a nice way to honor my template's namesake." Android 16 said.
"Would you like to give me a nickname now that I gave you one?" Orion teases. Android 16 smiled faintly before nodding.
"I would consider it an honor to provide you with a nickname, Orion. After careful consideration, taking into account the celestial strength and brightness you share with your namesake constellation, might I suggest "Nova"? It signifies a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness. Much like a nova, you have an inner strength and ability to shine brightly through adversity. Does this nickname resonate with you, Orion?" Android 16 asked.
Orion blushed, and shook her head. "That's perfect. It actually makes me sad that I couldn't come up with a good nickname." Orion said.
"Do not be sad, Nova. These things don't have to be fancy or nice, I appreciate you putting time and effort in the name you have given me." Android 16 said. "But I must implore you to leave the area as it is not safe here." Android 16 said.
"Eh? Not safe here? What do you mean?" Orion asked.
"There's a huge threat, Nova, that threat is called Cell, you need to take cover." Android 16 said, Orion narrowed her eyes.
"Who is Cell?" Orion asked, Android 16 looked troubled.
"Cell is a powerful being. He absorbs everything in his wake. We need to go, especially you, Nova." Android 16 explained, Orion didn't know what to say.
"Well, I don't know what you're talking about, quite frankly, Gevo, I don't really care about this "threat"" Orion said plainly. And she stood tall and firm in her stance, Android 16 was conflicted. On one hand he could respect her wishes and let her stay here. But on the other hand he couldn't just allow her to be in danger, it goes against his core programming just as he was about to do something he heard the loud noises of what seemed to be more people.
"Android 16! What are you doing here?" Said a blonde lady. She was with Krillin and Orion turned to face the two.
"Oh hey, Krillin." Orion waves.
"Hey, Orion." Krillin added, he rushed over to hug her. Orion laughs.
"Android 16, who's that with you and who is that person you're hugging Krillin?" Android 18.
"She's my friend, Android 18. She's referred to as Orion but I call her Nova by her request. And in return she calls me Gevo." Android 16, Android 18 narrowed her eyes in disgust at Orion and looked at Krillin.
"And what about you?" She asked.
"She's my friend, we live together." Krillin said, "She sleeps in the same room as me, and we do things together." Krillin said, which elicited an unknown reaction from Android 18, to hear a woman share a room with a man, unheard of.
"You share… a room together? Do you share a bed and do fun activities as well?" Android 18 asks, with a hint of jealousy or disgust, it's hard to tell with those Androids.
"Well, we share separate beds, and no we don't… Uh do those things we're close friends." Krillin said, Android 16 couldn't help but feel jealous at this, they were close friends. But he didn't know what to think about these conflicted emotions.
"Well, whatever." Android 18 said.
"We need to leave now." Android 16 said, and picked up Orion to rush out. Not before Cell arrived. Orion was blinded by the confusion and couldn't see in which direction to go, she was slightly confused and trying to figure out what to do.
"Cell!" Android 16 yelled, "Nova, 18, Krillin and 17 go and take cover!" He placed down Orion and she huffed.
"I don't want to leave your side, Gevo." Orion said stubbornly.
"Nova, I must implore you, that it's dangerous! Move!" Android 16, yelled, he just met this intriguing saiyan and he had a sudden admiration for her, and felt like he didn't want to lose her. He was attached to her and didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
"If you're staying I am too, Gevo." Orion said.
"Hm, it appears to me, I smell some rank power level here." Cell said, turning to face Orion, and Orion gasped, before standing behind the Z Fighters.
"What sort of saiyan are you? I don't know who you are but you hold devastating power. A power that's beyond someone on the scale of Goku." Cell said, laughing.
"What I have is none of your business." She growled.
"Please, enlighten me, show me your real worth." Cell said, Orion couldn't just bust out fighting, it will give her away! She sees a bunch of eyes on her. She didn't know what to do. She eventually gave up and fought Cell. She lunged at him and she felt her body go on autopilot and felt like she blacked out.
Android 16, was so conflicted.
Should he stay with her or leave? Or just do as his programming pleases?
Ugh. Whatever he felt, it doesn't matter because 17 and 18 were absorbed and 16 was too.
"GEVO!" Orion yelled, before Krillin picked her up and flew her back to the others.
It took awhile and a significant amount of hoorahs to complete, but managing to kill Cell and much to the detriment of losing Goku and wishing back the androids was an easy feat, Krillin fell in love with 18 and wishes the cogs will be removed. And well, Orion wanted a wish for herself.
"Are there any other wishes before I leave?" Shenron asked, Orion stepped forward.
"I'd like to make a wish, please can you make Android 16, Half Human and Half Android like 17 and 18 is. I want him to experience a rich, fulfilling life." Orion said, Shenron thinks for a minute.
"Wish granted."
Then he disappeared. Orion felt a hand on her shoulder, she jumped up a bit, and saw it was Android 16.
"...I feel less than different… To say the least, I feel… Like this feeling is… Indifference…" Android 16 said, Orion smiled.
"Well, you aren't fully Android anymore." She said, she turned to face Krillin and smiled.
"Krillin, I want to say, I will be moving out of Kame House and getting one of those Capsule houses that Bulma has. I might move in with Gevo." She said, taking his hand in hers and squeezing it.
"Are you and Android 16 dating already? Isn't it funny how the two of us fell in love with Androids at the same time?" Krillin asked, Orion was blushing. While Android 16 looked confused.
"What is this concept of "love" you speak of?" Android 16 asked, Orion turned to face Android 16.
"Love, well it varies from other people, in the sense that Krillin is speaking of holds a romantic context. It means you care for someone beyond the friendly sense, you are willing to forge a relationship built on trust, flexibility and of course love. There is an alternative where you can love someone platonically, which is what we are. Friends." Orion said, Krillin seemed surprised.
"But then again, the two of you are going to move in together, that's a big commitment." Krillin points out.
"Well, I moved in with you and Master Roshi, does that mean we were dating Krillin?" Orion asked, Krillin went silent. Orion smirked in triumph.
"I rest my case." Orion said, she took Android 16s hand, "Let's go and visit Capsule Corp for our Capsule house, Gevo."
"I have no idea what this "Capsule House" is but I am well aware it is a house for us to stay in I presume?" Android 16 asked, and Orion laughed.
"Of course, that's what it is!" Orion arrived at Capsule Corp.
"Hey Dr. Briefs. We were wondering if we can get a capsule house! For two please. Two rooms with their own built in bath-" Orion began.
"Actually I think it would benefit it if we shared the same bed and same room." Android 16 said. Orion was shocked and looked at Android 16.
"Gevo, why?" Orion asked.
"Nova, I am close to you and I would love to share such closeness with you. Although it's my priority to destroy Goku, I have come to the conclusion that priority is now nullified. My main priority is now to keep you safe and protected." Android 16 said, Orion's face flushed and looked away.
"Are you sure you want to invest your time in me? Gevo? All I am is a waste of time, I don't want to waste any time you have." Orion said.
"Trust me, Nova. If this "love" is what you say brings one closer, then this step and encouragement for personal space will encourage me to become close to you." Android 16 said Orion looked all flustered and embarrassed.
"I see, Gevo." Orion was giggly. Dr. Briefs looked at them with a knowing look.
"It appears you two are so greatly entwined in one another. Just knowing one another for a short amount of time has done something to you, are you sure you two are just friends?" Dr. Briefs inquired.
"Ah, I am certain. I view Gevo as my close friend and companion and value him as a friend. I really appreciate his help and support." Orion said. Dr. Briefs shrugs and hands over the Capsule Pod to Orion and they go off.
Android 16 couldn't help but think…
