A Phantom's Love and Courage
Chapter 5: A Pretty Guardian's Perspective: Another hero comes to the rescue
Earlier
Makoto Kino was feeling down.
She was turned down again by another cute guy, who while he stated that he has a girlfriend, he probably lied and just had an issue with her being taller, stronger and a little bulkier than most girls in Juban.
Just like the rest.
"And so ends another potential relationship..."She thought, bitterly.
She sighed, feeling defeated as she turned the corner.
She was going to her apartment to cool off and maybe cook up something tasty to lift up her spirits. However, she noticed something several yards away that some trouble was going on.
She saw a group of boys, older than her who were crowding around the corner that they were hiding behind. They reminded her of the jerks who tried to bully Usagi the first day she met her.
The tall girl frowned, feeling they were up to no good.
"What trouble are they up to?..."She thought as she saw them walking into some guy, who was on the ground now.
She could also hear the following.
"IDIOT! You broke my leg! What's wrong with you?!..."The guy on the ground shouted.
Makoto saw his buddies surround the smaller person and she narrowed her eyes as she walked faster to get a better look as she witnessed one of them pushing the guy around, harassing him.
"I saw that! That boy didn't even come near his leg, they're the ones who bumped into him on purpose. Those lowlifes are trying to hustle him and beat him up!..."She thought as she approached the scene and heard more of the threatening.
"Oh, so you speak English, huh?..."One of the thugs said in a mocking manner.
"Well, what are you going to do now? How are you going to pay for this?..."He demanded.
"Maybe your lunch money will be enough..."The other one said in a threatening manner, but the guy clearly didn't understand Japanese, as he was looking at them cluelessly.
Makoto decided that, powers or not, she won't let this happen on her watch.
"Now you're bullying tourists, huh? How pathetic..."She said, getting their attention.
The foreigner boy looked confused while the bullies just sent her a dirty look.
Makoto continued her glare.
"I saw everything. He barely bumped into you. That's pretty low, staging a collision to shake down some random tourists..." She said in disgust. "You dirty cowards, why don't you idiots try fighting someone your own size?..."She added in anger.
"What's that?..."The lead thug said in anger.
"You heard me, now I think you three should apologize if you know what's best for you!..."She warned them.
The bullies just scoffed at her.
"Why you nosy little girl! No one speaks to us like that! Not without paying the price!..."The lead thug said as he was about to reach for her.
"Big mistake..."Makoto said as she grabbed his arm.
Because of her martial arts training, Makoto was well prepared for this outcome and did as followed.
She easily twisted his wrist with great speed, she easily and effortlessly threw him overhead like he was some rag-doll. Now, the lead thug was now on the ground, groaning in pain.
Even when she isn't Sailor Jupiter, she's a far better fighter than her friends.
Anyway, the other jerks were in shock but one of them snapped out of it and got mad. He tried to run at her with a fist raised, but Makoto anticipated him.
"Too slow..."She thought as she easily dodged him, before she kneed him, sending him to the ground.
"These guys are so sloppy, I bet even Umino can fight better than them..."She thought to herself.
With two of the thugs on the ground and the other one...the one faking the leg injury looked at her in horror, she looked ready to make his injury real.
"Now apologize and leave this boy alone. Now, before I decide to do some real permanent damage!..."She said in a stern tone.
The remaining thugs gulped before he did so.
"Sorry!..."He shouted before running away like a coward and leaving his buddies on the ground, in pain.
"Cowards..."Makoto thought, rolling her eyes.
These jerks were hardly worth it. However, she lost her hostile look as she went to go check on the guy they tried to manhandle.
As she approached him, she got a better look at him. She noticed that he has messy black hair, blue eyes, with fair skin and he seems to be a foreigner, given his appearance and the fact that he wasn't fluent in Japanese. She also noticed that he is shorter than her by a couple of inches and seemed to be pretty lanky.
Still, she chose to be helpful and smiled gently as she offered a hand.
"Are you okay? I hope that didn't terrify you..."She said in Japanese.
"Huh?..."The boy let out, clearly not understanding.
"Definitely a tourist..."She thought as she blinked before recognizing his words.
He is speaking English. Ever since that party at Mamoru's college, Makoto has tried to improve her English and practiced with Ami. So, she tried her best to translate, even if she had no practice with someone who speaks it as their first language.
"I said... I hope you are... okay..."She said to him.
The boy slowly nodded, looking both surprised and was quiet as he hasn't spoken a word yet. She figured that he was probably still shaken up from those thugs.
She would have talked more with him but she remembered that she has to get home. So, seeing that he was unharmed and she knew that those bullies won't bother him anymore, she turned around.
"Be careful and take care now..."Makoto said as she walked away.
She needed to get home so she can finally get something to eat and because she hadn't watered her plants since this morning. Besides, tossing around some bullies does, right after finishing her Sailor Guardian duties, works up an appetite.
A shame she didn't have anyone to share it with.
A few moments later
The tall girl walked away from the area, disgusted by those men who harassed that boy, whom she believes was a tourist, given he didn't seem to understand Japanese.
However, as she walked, she noticed something else about that guy.
"Ya know... he was kinda cute, even if he was kinda short. He did have nice eyes. Too bad he's obviously not from around here. He must be on vacation or something..."She thought, almost bittersweet but relieved he's okay now.
The tall girl then saw something zoom by from the corner of her eye and immediately turned around...only to see nothing but clear skies.
"Huh, I thought I saw something fly..."She thought before she shrugged.
Believing that there is nothing, the tall girl then turned around and resumed walking to her destination.
She walked down the streets alone. She was unaware someone was watching her.
Someone Danny was warned about.
"So, that's one of them, eh? Interesting..."The figure said before disappearing.
