Virtue and Venom: Chapter 37
Land of Stone (outside the mountain): With Ino and Hanabi
Ino skidded to a stop as she exited the mountain with an unconscious Hanabi on her shoulder; Ino gently put Hanabi on the ground and looked her over. Hanabi was sweating profusely and breathing heavily; Ino seeing this knew the poison was taking it's course.
'Crap; I don't have anything so I can try and keep her stable' Ino thought as she clenched her fists 'I have no choice' Ino thought as she cut her thumb with a kunai and went through hand signs. "Summoning jutsu" Ino shouted as she slammed her hands onto the ground and kanji appeared; a puff of smoke erupted and a small slug appeared.
"You called Lady Ino" the small slug said and Ino nodded.
"Yes; I need you to reverse summon Hanabi to Konoha" Ino said to the small slug "she's been poisoned and I don't think she can make the trip back to Suna in time" she said.
"Very well; I will take the girl to Lady Tsunade" the slug said as it crawled onto Hanabi's chest "take care lady Ino" the slug said before it and Hanabi disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Ino got back up and began to run back into the mountain 'don't worry Hanabi; lady Tsunade can help you better than I can't Ino thought as she ran back into the fight.
Konoha (a minutes later): With Tsunade and Shizune
Both Tsunade and Shizune were in the Hokage office eating lunch and conversing "I'm telling you Shizune; it's how you toast the sourdough bread that brings out the flavor" Tsunade said as she took another bite of her Reuben sandwich. "And exchanging sauerkraut for Kimchi brings a little extra kick of spiciness to the corned beef" Tsunade said and Shizune nodded.
"I never knew you were such a sandwich artist" Shizune said taking a bite of her sandwich "It's really good" she said in between bites.
"A girl has to have a hobby" Tsunade said with a smile; just then a puff of smoke appeared in the middle of the room. Both women jumped to their feet ready to fight until they saw Hanabi with a slug summon on top of her.
"Lady Tsunade; it's urgent, the girl has been poisoned" The slug said; both Tsunade and Shizune ran to Hanabi and looked over her. In only a few seconds Tsunade analyzed Hanabi and nodded.
"Shizune; get Hiashi Hyuga, Shibi Aburame and Shikaku Nara" Tsunade ordered as she picked Hanabi up "bring them to the Hospital emergency room asap" she commanded.
"Yes Mam" Shizune said as she ran out the door going one way while Tsunade ran in the other direction toward the hospital.
"Damn it; what the hell happened" Tsunade said as she ran "Naruto, Ino; please be safe" she said.
With Naruto, Mamushi, Sasuke, Kakashi and Sai
"Hahaha" Mamushi laughed as she used her scythe to slice another puppet to pieces "I love this job" she said as she jumped over a hail of kunai coming from behind her.
Naruto seeing this charged up his trench knives with wind chakra; Naruto brought back both of his arm and swung them forward. 'Kaze Girochin (wind guillotine)' Naruto released 2 wind blades towards the puppet that fired the kunai at Mamushi; the 2 wind blades hit the puppet cutting it in half.
"I got your back Mamushi" Naruto shouted as he began fighting another puppet.
"Thanks Naru" Mamushi shouted as she ducked under a sword from another puppet; she was about to counter but Sasuke came in and sliced the puppet disabling it "hey, no fair Sasuke that was mine" Mamushi whined.
"This is serious" Sasuke said annoyed "can you at least focus on the battle" he said and Mamushi groaned.
"Fiiiiine" Mamushi said as she went through hand signs 'Fire Style: Fire ball jutsu' Mamushi launched a fire ball at several puppets that avoided the attack.
2 of the puppets that avoided Mamushi's Fireball were swatted into the ground by a ink ogre. Sai put up his scroll and brush as he scanned the area; Sai focused as 2 more puppets coming towards him and drew out his short sword. One of the puppets came at him attempting a high slash to decapitate him.
Sai ducked under the blade and used his sword to cut off the puppets arm as he rushed under it; Sai was now behind the puppet and spun around before cutting the head off the puppet. As he did so the other puppet came up and opened it's mouth and fired a volley of poisoned send on at Sai; Sai avoided the senbon and threw a kunai with an explosive tag towards the puppet hitting it and blowing it up.
"Keep it up; we are almost through" Kakashi shouted as he threw a kick at a puppet; Kakashi's kick shattered the puppet and he turned around "we only have to destroy 20 more" he said as he charged up a raikiri. Kakashi charged and used his raikiri to cut through 2 more puppets, setting them alight as they fell tot he ground.
"Yeah, lets finish strong" Mamushi cheered as she ran towards another puppet.
With Anko and Chiyo
Sasori activated his flame throwers and fires a stream of fire at Anko; Anko narrowly dodged the attack as the back of her trench coat caught on fire "crap" Anko shouted as she took off her trench coat and threw it off. Anko looked over to Sasori with an enraged look "that was my favorite coat dick" Anko shouted.
Anko went through hand signs and slammed her hands onto the ground "Earth Style: Earth spikes" Anko shouted as earth spikes began to rise from the ground and head to Sasori.
Sasori seeing this used his wings to fly above the spikes and avoid the attack; this was short lived however as he was rushed from his side by the father puppet.
Chiyo sent the father puppet towards Sasori and was going to use the father's whip to attack Sasori; the father puppet attacked and Sasori had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid the attack. The whip hit Sasori on his right arm severing it below his elbow.
Sasori cursed as he jettisoned the remaining arm from the elbow down and produced a hidden sword; Sasori flew towards Chiyo who stayed in place as she waited for Sasori to get close.
As Sasori neared her Chiyo launched her attack bringing back the mother puppet with her swords; Sasori turned and saw the mother puppet and began a mid air battle. Chiyo moved her hand and began to use her fingers to make the mother puppet attack Sasori; the m other puppet slashed at Sasori from the side but Sasori performed a barrel roll and avoided the sword by a few inches.
Anko seeing and opportunity began to run up the wall and got onto the ceiling; Anko proceeded to jump straight down while summoning out 2 snakes and grabbing a hold of their tails. Anko whipped the snakes towards Sasori and the snaked got a hold of him by the ankles "take this" Anko shouted as she pulled the snaked and Sasori.
Anko slammed Sasori into the ground making the earth shake before landing next to Chiyo "nice attack Anko dearie" Chiyo said making Anko smile.
"That was for my trench coat" Anko said as she took out several kunai and shuriken; Sasori began to rise to his feet. Both Anko and Chiyo saw that Sasori's puppet body was cracked and splintered from the impact.
"You will pay for that" Sasori said as he glared at Anko and Chiyo.
With Ino
Ino was running through the maze of tunnels trying to find anybody from her team; as she rounded a corner she heard the sounds of battle 'ok Ino, get ready; you don't know what's going to happen' she thought.
With Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Sai and Mamushi
"Graaa" Naruto shouted as he sliced a puppet in half; Naruto was breathing heavily as he looked around. Everyone was breathing heavy but no one was hurt or killed "are… you guys… ok" he asked and Sasuke gave a thumbs up.
"Just peachy" Sasuke said and Mamushi came up to him and patted his back.
"Well at least no one's- Ahhh" Mamushi began and then screamed as she fell to the ground; Mamushi had 4 senbon in sticking out of her ass and she was on the ground "that hurt like hell" she shouted.
From a few feet away there was a puppet head with it's mouth open; the puppet still had enough chakra to fire it's last remaining ammunition. Kakashi seeing this threw a kunai hitting the head destroying it; everyone ran over and gathered around Mamushi.
"Mamushi are you ok" Kakashi asked concerned; Mamushi looked up to him with tears in her eyes.
"It hurts super bad" Mamushi whined; Sai kneeled down to Mamushi and grabbed a senbon with one hand and Mamushi's butt with the other.
"Deep breaths" Sai said with a smile and Mamushi nodded; Sai pushed down on Mamushi's butt while pulling out the first senbon.
"Ow" Mamushi yelped as Sai pulled out the next one "Oww, owww, owwww" Mamushi yelped as Sai pulled out the final senbon.
"All done" Sai said standing up.
"How do you feel" Sasuke asked Mamushi concerned "are you ok" he asked.
"I-I feel" Mamushi began until she closed her mouth and covered it with her had; Mamushi then got up ran a few feet away. "Bwaaah" Mamushi then began to throw up; Naruto and the others saw Mamushi puking her guts out.
"What's going on" came a feminine voice; everyone turned and saw Ino who ran in.
"Ino thank god" Naruto said running over and hugging her "Mamushi got hit by some senbon; we pulled them out and then she stated puking" he said. Ino then looked over and nodded.
"Oh yeah; you don't know" Ino said to Naruto "while you were gone we did some… tests on Mamushi" she said
Flashback (2 and a half years ago): Konoha hospital
Ino, Tsunade and Anko were all behind a window with Mamushi sitting at a table; a doctor with a lab coat and a tray walked up to Mamushi and placed the tray down revealing a energy drink.
"Test number 1; Caffeine" Tsunade said through a microphone "go ahead and drink it Mamushi she said.
"Okie dokie" Mamushi said as she popped open the can and drank it.
……….
"Oh boy I feel energized, can i go to the park, oh wait i have to do laundry, can i wear pink tomorrow…" Mamushi rambled on as Ino, Tsunade and Anko looked on.
"High doses of caffeine makes her hyper" Tsunade said as she wrote down notes.
………. The next day
Mamushi was sitting at the table once again as doctor came in again with a tray and placed it down revealing a syringe "Test number 26; Opium" Tsunade said "put out your arm Mamushi.
"I don't want to look" Mamushi said as she turned away as the doctor cleaned her arm before sticking Mamushi with the needle.
……….
Mamushi was currently on the toilet in complete agony "owww this really hurts" she whined.
Tsunade, Ino and Anko all looked on in disgust "Opium causes violent Diarrhea" Tsunade said as she jotted it down.
"I think I'm going to be sick" Ino said as she looked away.
"That room has got to be smelling something awful" Anko said "poor Mamushi" she said.
……….The next day
Mamushi was sitting at the table holding her stomach "my tummy still hurts" Mamushi said.
"Remember Mamushi this is for science" Tsunade said trying to reassure her; just then the doctor walked in with the tray and placed it down revealing a mushroom "test number: 51; mushrooms" she said and Mamushi picked it up.
"Aww, I hate veggies" Mamushi said as she popped it into her mouth "gross" she said.
……..
Mamushi was now completely naked and crawling up the walls on all fours "gabliblbabalibble" Mamushi said speaking in tongues a she crawled on the ceiling.
"Mushrooms make her see hallucinations and speak in tongues" Tsunade said writing her words down; Mamushi then opened her mouth and began to vomit out green slime while her head did a 360 degree turn "and vomit" Tsunade said.
"This is some exorcist type shit" Anko said looking on disturbed.
"This cannot be ethical" Ino said and Tsunade showed her a paper with Mamushi's signature on it.
"She volunteered to be studied" Tsunade said as she looked back at Mamushi who picked up the table and threw it against the wall "we need to know the extent of her genetic modifications" she said
Flashback ends
"Let it out, let it out" Ino said as she patted Mamushi's back as she continued to throw up.
"So she's immune to poisons, toxins and drugs; but there different ways" Naruto said and Ino nodded.
"Yeah and trust me; the experiments weren't pretty" Ino said "you should've seen what happened when we gave her medical grade meth; took Lady Tsunade, Anko and Shikaku Nara to hold her still until we could sedate her" she said.
Mamushi finished throwing up and wiped her mouth "Ino, me tummy hurts" Mamushi said as Ino led her to a wall and sat her down.
Ino took out a scroll and produced several kinds of pills; Ino got a bottle of purple pills and opened it "here take these; it'll help you" Ino said as Mamushi took the pills.
"We need to get going" Kakashi said gaining all their attentions "Naruto, Sasuke and Sai will come with me; Ino you stay with Mamushi" he said and both Ino and Mamushi nodded.
"Copy that" Ino said.
"Ok; bye honey" Mamushi said blowing Sasuke a kiss; Sasuke stood there for a moment before pretend catching it making Mamushi smile.
"Bye" Sasuke said as Naruto chuckled at that; Naruto and the others all ran out the exit leaving Mamushi and Ino there.
"Just give me a minute ok" Mamushi said holding her stomach and Ino smiled.
"Take your time" Ino said.
With Anko and Chiyo
Anko charged at Sasori throwing her shuriken and kunai at him while closing the distance; Sasori used wings to block the oncoming projectiles. Sasori then used his cable to take a swipe at Anko; Anko seeing the cable slid under as the cable missed by a few inches.
Anko sliding on the floor reached into her kunai holster once more and took out a kunai; Anko threw the kunai towards Sasori and went into Sasori's cable mechanism making Sasori curse.
"Damn" Sasori said as he removed his cable as it was useless now; Sasori looked at Anko and aimed his remaining arm opening it revealing his flamethrower. Sasori fired a stream towards Anko who went through hand signs.
'Water Style: Water Bullets' Anko fired several water bullets from her mouth towards the stream of fire; the fist few water bullets extinguished the fire and then hit Sasori. Sasori was hit by the water bullets and tried to fire another jet of fire but was unable to as his ignition system was wet.
"Fuck" Sasori shouted.
Chiyo seeing this took in a deep breath and focused 'It's time i end this' Chiyo thought as she began to move the mother and father puppets towards Sasori. Sasori saw both the bother and father puppets move towards him and took flight; the father puppets swung it's whip at Sasori who dodged as it made a glancing blow on his abdomen.
The mother puppets came up from behind and aimed a stab at where Sasori's core was; Sasori spun around and used his wings to shred the mother puppet to pieces. As soon as he did that the puppet exploded sending him to the ground.
"A good puppet master always know when to sacrifice a puppet" Chiyo said as she sent the father puppet towards Sasori; the father puppet towards Sasori. Sasori seeing this readied his arm sword and charged the father puppet; Sasori ducked under the whip and sliced the puppet in half and jumped away expecting it to explode.
However it didn't and Sasori stopped for a split second 'a trick' Sasori thought as he realized he backed up towards Anko. Anko sent her snaked to Sasori and they grabbed him by the shoulders; Anko pulled Sasori towards her and she kicked him in the back shattering his torso and sending his core to the ground.
Anko not taking any chances took out a kunai and threw it at the core hitting it; the core bled out a purple substance for a few seconds and began to convulse violently on the ground.
A few seconds later the core stopped and laid there motionless; Anko was breathing heavy as she took a knee "holy crap I'm exhausted" Anko said "hey old hag; are you ok" she asked. Anko looked over to Chiyo who was standing over the head of Sasori's puppet.
Chiyo kneeled down and picked up the head before putting it to her forehead 'despite all you've done; I still love you, my dear Sasori' Chiyo thought. "Anko dear" Chiyo said "you can go along and find your friends… I need a moment alone" Chiyo said and Anko nodded.
"Ok… be careful" Anko said as she got up and walked out; Chiyo collected the heads of the mother and father puppets and placed them on the ground. Chiyo them put Sasori's head in the middle of them and clapped her hands together.
"Reunited at last" Chiyo said with tears in her eyes "this will be your resting place for all eternity" she said as she slowly walked out of the room. Chiyo put explosive tags on the entrance and walked away a few feet before detonating; the explosives went off and the rocks covered the entrance to the cave, sealing Sasori and his parents inside.
With Kakuzu
Kakuzu and the rest of the Akatsuki were still extracting the 1 tails from Gaara; as they did so there was an explosion from the corner of the room gaining all their attentions. Naruto rushed in at his top speed and grabbed Gaara from the air.
"Gaara are you ok" Naruto shouted as he shook Gaara; Gaara was unconscious and Naruto felt his neck for a pulse 'oh thank god' Naruto thought.
Kakuzu seeing the was about to rush over to engage Naruto but had to dodge a slash from Sasuke's sword; Kakuzu jumped off his platform as Sasuke's sword narrowly missed hitting his neck. Kakuzu landed on the ground and glared at the intruders; Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi and Sai were all standing ready to engage.
"You interrupted us" Kakuzu said with a scowl "I'm guessing that Sasori is dead" he said and Kakashi stepped forward.
"Not sure" Kakashi said "but going off who he was fighting… probably" he said and Kakuzu shook his head.
"Not a problem" Kakuzu said as he looked around "I see four of you" he said and Naruto spoke up.
"A little arrogant for a guy who's fighting alone" Naruto said as he put Gaara down "we can kick your ass faster than those puppets" Naruto said and Kakuzu chuckled.
"Who said I was alone" Kakuzu said; as soon as he said that 5 figures detached from him and stood by his side "foolish boy" he said.
Sasuke looked over to Naruto "you just had to say something" Sasuke said and Naruto looked sheepish "now it's a six on four" he said.
"No it's a six on six" came a voice; Ino and Mamushi ran in and stood by Naruto and his squad "did we miss anything" Ino asked and Kakashi shook his head.
"No not really" Kakashi said.
Kakuzu looked over to Mamushi and recognized the weapon she was holding 'that's Hidan's; so these were the one's who killed him and Deidera' he thought. 'No matter' he thought 'I'll just eliminate these pests' he thought.
"Kakuzu" came the voice of Pein "eliminate the everyone but the blonde boy; he's the 9 tails host" Pein said as he and the other holograms disappeared.
Naruto hearing this got up and gripped his trench knives "If you want me" Naruto said as he got into a stance "come and get me" he said.
