Chapter 22: The Ring:

Nancy's POV:

Well, now I got something, there's just one problem, who is Lucy's child? I feel like this one is right under my nose, but I can't figure it out! Oh, and to top it off, someone killed McKeaver, and it looked like my Dad did it! This is not helping his case. I just wish I knew more! Anyway, my crew and I are at the DVD store.

"What about War for the Planet of the Apes," asks Ned.

"I have a better idea," says Bess, "Annabelle Comes Home!"

"Ghosts," asks George, "really? Here's a good one, Fantasy Island!"

"I had to go through two fantasies," I said, "let's try again."

"Okay, but let's try a movie that isn't based on a book," says Ned, "there are way too many adaptations based on books!"

I then saw Sabrina. She looked disappointed. I decided to go talk to her. "Hey," I said.

"Oh, what's up," asks Sabrina.

"Are you looking for something," I asked.

"It's not important," says Sabrina, "I won't be able to find it." She walks away.

That was weird even for a teenage witch who hangs out with a talking cat.

"This one doesn't have a title," says Ned.

"Sounds mysterious," says Bess, "I say we try it out."

. . .

We were at my place, getting the movie ready.

"There's literally nothing on it," says Shaun.

"It's starting," says Bess.

. . .

The DVD begins with static, which fades in and out, as if attempting to gain a signal. I thought that it was strange since it was a DVD and not a videotape.

The DVD's first image is of the infamous ring made from the well's lid with light shining around the edge, giving it the appearance of an eclipse. It turns to static before switching to the next scene. This is from Samara's point of view after being dropped down the well by some woman.

The second shot is of blood rushing into the ocean.

Next are three brief shots of a nail with a drop of blood on it.

An egg like object appears, its innards shifting slightly.

Then there is a chair. The chair is placed in the center of the frame but then shifts slightly to the right.

The next image is of a close-up of hair being combed, before revealing the same woman from the well scene standing before a mirror brushing her hair. The mirror suddenly shifts to the other side of the wall, a girl reflected in the mirror. The mirror then switches back to the side where the woman is, and she turns and smiles. Someone is heard faintly singing a few lines: 'Round we go, the world is spinning. When it stops.' which I've never even heard of before.

The nail appears again, with the drop of blood dripping down the side.

A man is shown staring down from the second floor of some home before looking off into the distance.

Next is a shot of the cliff at some mountain, with a fly walking in a circle onscreen.

Zooming out, there's a mouth with intestines being pulled out of it. If looked at closely, the mouth seems to be a mix of a human and a horse.

The next image is of thrashing black plastic, the well's lid is quickly seen again, this time only half closed.

A Japanese maple tree is then shown on fire.

Then there is a still image of a small box with the lid off. The shot zooms in slowly, revealing several detached fingers inside, still twitching.

Once more, the nail standing on its head is shown, this time with someone lowering their finger onto the tip.

An image of a finger being impaled by a nail follows, the nail ripping off.

The shot of the comb through the woman's hair appears briefly again.

The next image is of a sea of maggots which turns into a hundreds of floundering humans.

The next image shows a table, chair and a glass of water from the hospital. The chair is moved aside as an abnormally large centipede emerges from under the table and crawls off.

The following image shows what appears to be a three-legged lamb or goat which limps into a barn.

A brief image follows of the horse's eye staring in horror.

A box of removed fingers is shown, the fingers twitching violently.

The well's lid closes more, which means that the DVD is nearing its end.

The Japanese maple tree on fire appears again for several more seconds.

It is interrupted by another shot of the now older girl thrashing in the trash bag.

The woman is then seen standing outside of the mirror, removing a pin from her hair. She turns and stares directly into the camera.

The house is seen again, this time with the man no longer standing in the window.

The mysterious chair begins to spin upside down.

The next image shows the ladder propped up against a wall.

The image after that shows two blurred corpses of horses on the shore of some Island.

The woman is then standing on the same cliff shown earlier. She extends her arms and falls off, committing suicide.

The ladder in the barn then begins to fall as well.

The well's lid closes all the way, creating a thin ring.

The closed well is shown again but this time shows a girl standing next to it and it appears that she's trying to open it.

Then the ladder falls to the floor, a dull thud echoing.

The final image of the DVD is a still shot of the well outdoors, unsealed.

The tape ends with static, but I barely understand what we saw.

"No wonder it didn't have a title," says Ned.

Then my phone went off. I answered. "Hello?"

"Seven Days!"

"Is this the people who killed Lucy," I asked.

"Seven Days!"

They then hung up. So much for a relaxing night.

. . .

The next day, we were at Pop's, discussing the call.

"But how did the Killer get your number," asks George, "unless you gave it to them, it shouldn't be that easy."

"This proves how dangerous they are," I said.

"At least they gave you a warning," says Ned.

I then had another call. "Hello?"

"Six Days!"

"I'm going to find you," I said. They hung up.

. . .

I was walking when... "Excuse me." I turned around. "Hi, I'm Rachel Keller of the Daily CW and I want to talk to you about your Father."

Great.

. . .

I then talked to Miss Keller. "Hey, are you related to Kevin Keller," I asked.

"My nephew," says Miss Keller, "anyway, what can you tell me about your Father..."

"Well, for starters, he's innocent," I said.

"Really," asks Miss Keller.

"Yes," I said, "someone framed him and now he's in jail and dangerous people are after him!"

"Do you have actual proof," asks Miss Keller.

"I will when I find the real killer," I said, "in fact they're after me as we speak! They kept calling me to threaten my life!"

"I think you might be telling the truth," says Miss Keller, "so, what did they say?"

"Yesterday, they said seven days and today, they said six days."

"That's interesting," says Miss Keller.

"I know."

. . .

Shaun and I were home. There was a knock. I answered and it was Sabrina. "Nancy, listen," says Sabrina, "it's not what you think!"

"What do you mean," I asked.

"They're not just after you, they're after your whole crew and if we don't do something, you could all die!"

"What are we dealing with," I asked.

"The same demon that killed my Mother," says Sabrina.

. . .

"Her name is Samara Morgan," says Sabrina, "I don't know her whole story, but she's an evil spirit who kills anyone that watches her tape. I thought I was looking for a video tape, but they don't make those anymore, so she's a DVD."

"And now she's after me and my crew," I said, "but why does she keep calling me?"

"I guess it's just easier that way," says Sabrina, "I've been hoping to make her pay!"

"How do we stop her," I asked.

"I plan to try with my magic," says Sabrina.

"We just gotta wait six days," I said.

. . .

It was the next day and Shaun and I told Ned, George, and Bess what Sabrina told me.

"This never would've happened if we watched War for the Planet of the Apes," says Ned.

There was a phone call and I answered.

"Five Days!"

"Yeah, yeah," I said, "why don't you go plague someone else?"

They hung up.

"Maybe you could not answer," says Bess.

"Unless they do a whole lot worst," says George.

"Hey, I'm Aiden. You met my Mom yesterday."

"Oh, hi," I said, "we're kind of in the middle of something."

"I know, my Mom realized what you were dealing with and I know someone that can help."

. . .

We were introduced to Kevin and Aiden's aunt and uncle.

"That thing killed our daughter," says Ruth Embry.

"We tried to tell people, but no one believes us," says Dave Embry.

"There has to be a reason," says Bess.

"Yes, it's a monster," says Mrs. Embry.

I feel like there's more to this.

. . .

The next day, I did research on Samara Morgan. She was adopted by Richard and Anna Morgan, but they're both dead. Then there was a phone call. I answered.

"Four Days!" They hung up. She hung up.

. . .

I was at the Morgans' horse ranch. Maybe I can find something there. I looked at Samara Morgan's old stuff. I found a picture of Samara with someone that looked familiar. Then someone knocks me out.

. . .

I woke up and saw Sabrina got me out.

"Some guy in a mask knocked you out," says Sabrina.

"This was where Samara lived when she was young," I said, "both of her adoptive parents died."

"Nancy, she probably killed them herself," says Sabrina.

"You don't know that," I said.

"Nancy, I was 6 when it happened," says Sabrina, "my Mother was waiting for something. I didn't understand it, but then Samara came and killed her! She's a monster that must be destroyed!"

"Okay, but what if Lucy killed people," I asked, "does that make her evil?"

"What if Samara was the killer," asks Sabrina, "then what?"

I'm not sure what to think.

. . .

The next day, I was looking at the stuff I took from Samara's childhood home. There was one thing that interested me, if Samara was adopted, then what happened to her real parents? I then made a call, but first, I had to answer one.

"Three Days!"

. . .

I talked to Miss Keller.

"I once did research," says Miss Keller, "and I learned that Samara's Biological Mother is at Larkspur Lane."

"Does she work there," I asked.

"She's a patient," says Miss Keller, "and you're not going to like this but visiting hours won't be until tomorrow."

"Great."

. . .

The next day, Miss Keller and I arrived at Lakespur Lane. I then had another phone call.

"Two Days!"

"Shut up," I said. She hung up. Miss Keller and I then entered.

. . .

Miss Keller and I talked to Evelyn Borden, the real Mother of Samara Morgan.

"You have to understand, Samara was gifted," says Miss Borden.

"Gifted how," I asked.

"She was a psychic type mutant,"says Miss Borden, "she was also born... let's just say I wasn't married."

"Oh," I said.

"Her Biological Father was a blind criminal, Galen Burke. I had to give her up and she was raised by the Morgans, but when they died, it traumatized her!"

"While we're on the subject, did you know anyone else who is now dead," I asked.

"If you're referring to Lucy Sable, no, I did not know her personally, but from what I've learned, Samara was close to her."

"Interesting," I said.

. . .

The next day, I was looking at my phone. It rang and I answered.

"One Day!"

They hung up. Something had to be done.

. . .

Shaun and I were on our way to Pop's when we got attacked. It was the masked man. He was trying to strike me down, but there was something odd about him. Just as he was about to, he got knocked out. It was Sabrina. She then removes his mask. He was blind.

"Galen Burke," I said, "he was trying to keep me from finding anything out!"

. . .

Today was the day.

"This has been one bad week," says Ned.

Then the TV was one and Samara was coming out.

Samara is very haunting in appearance, resembling a Japanese onryƍ spirit, a spirit focused on vengeance. Her hair is now dark and soaking wet, hiding her waterlogged and deformed face which has turned somewhat grey in color and she has sunken eyes. Her skin has become an unnatural moldy colour, although when she climbs out of a television, her skin appears a murky grey. Her white dress becomes tattered and soaked with water, turning it brownish-yellow and grey.

"I know I shouldn't be saying this," says Bess, "but she is beautiful even though she's dead and... OMG, she's a lesbian!"

I forgot that Bess has lbgtqapathy. Wait, if Samara is... I understand now.

Sabrina came in and attacks Samara with her magic. "This is for my Mother," says Sabrina.

Samara then attacks her. "Stop," I said, "this isn't what Lucy would want!"

Samara then looks at me.

"Lucy," asks Ned.

"You were in love with her, so when she died, it was really hard for you," I said, "but would she want you to become a killer?" We all looked and there was a tear coming out of Samara's eye. Even Sabrina saw that. "I'm going to find Lucy's killer and bring them to justice! I promise that!"

She then stops. "I'm sorry," says Sabrina. Samara then disappears and we see the well on the TV.

. . .

We found the well.

"So she fell down there," asks Ned.

"Poor thing," says Bess.

"I wonder how she feels about Ryan Hudson," asks George.

"I don't think we should think of that," says Shaun.

"I thought she was an evil monster," says Sabrina.

"Not everything is what it seems," says Miss Keller. "I'll call the police and have them look into the well."

I will find out who killed Lucy.

Samara Morgan is 19 Yrs Old in the Ultimate Advanceverse. Samara Morgan is the American Cousin of Sadako Yamamura. Samara Morgan was the Childhood Friend of Lucy Sables. Samara Morgan is a Lesbian. Samara Morgan has unrequited romantic feelings for Lucy Sables. In the next chapter, Nancy takes desperate measures.
