Chapter 24: The Haunting of Nancy Drew:
Nancy's POV:
I was looking at the seaweed. This can only mean one thing... the Aglaeca! She may come after the rest of us as well! Great, now I have two that are after me. Can this get any worse?
Gomber's POV:
Kroon and I were walking when we saw Karen Hart's now locked up.
"Lucy was my best friend," says Karen, "I thought Ryan killed her!"
"I did not see this coming," I said.
"What is going on out there," asks Kroon.
Nancy's POV:
My friends and I were examining the bones.
"Do you think Pop's is an appropriate place to look at these," asks Shaun.
"No it isn't," says Jughead from somewhere.
"Yeah, we didn't think this through," says Ned.
"We really need an HQ," says George.
"Like the Justice League's Watchtower or Avengers Tower," says Bess.
"Yeah, well, we can't afford it," I said, "now, let's keep looking at the bones." We got nothing.
. . .
I talked to Ryan. He took me to the place where he and Lucy were supposed to meet the day she died.
"I never knew what happened," says Ryan, "but I know that she didn't get along with my Father."
. . .
We talked to Ryan's Father, Everett Hudson.
"I knew she was trouble," says Everett.
"But what happened," I asked.
"Well, she did get into a fight with Karen Hart."
. . .
At the prison, I talked to Karen Hart.
"Trust me, I regreted everything," says Karen.
"But what about Lucy," I asked.
"Lucy arrived with her backpack and journal but left without it, so the items might still be in the house."
. . .
Ryan and I arrive at the house, but Lucy tries to keep us out.
"Do you think it's because I'm her ex," asks Ryan.
"Uh-oh," I said, "I didn't think that part through!"
We had to fight through a ghost to get in. Maybe it wasn't because of Ryan, maybe there was another reason. We then managed to get in.
. . .
Ryan and I were in Lucy's house.
"So, what are we looking for," asks Ryan.
"Her backpack," I said.
"And you think someone would just leave it in here," asks Ryan.
"Just keep looking," I said.
We began searching. "You just love to play detective, don't you?" It was the Mad Hatter and the Scarecrow.
"Oh no," I said.
"Our employer still wants you to mind your own business," says the Hatter, "Crane, you know what to do."
I guess the Scarecrow survived our last encounter. "Ryan, his breath can reduce you to a coward," I said.
"Can we give him a mint," asks Ryan.
The Scarecrow was coming closer, but then I had an idea. I grabbed him and turned him around and pushed him to the Hatter, causing the Scarecrow to breath on the Hatter.
Ryan finds a journal. "Let's get out of here," says Ryan. We then ran out.
. . .
I then took a look in the journal.
Lucy's POV - Flashback:
When I was on my way to meet with Ryan, I saw something. A murder was taking place. They spotted me so I had to run. I tried to ask Ryan's Father for help, but he refused. I was then with both Karen and Samara. They tried to warn me to stay away from Ryan, but I told them that I had bigger problems. I then realized I was being watched. I then tried to find the police, but I couldn't, so I ran to find a hiding place, but too late. They found me. I then removed their mask and saw they were...
Nancy's POV - Present:
"Clifford Blossom," I said.
"Wait, Blossom's the one who killed Lucy," asks Ryan.
I then thought about it. He has the money and he told me to stay away from Tiffany Hudson. Tiffany must've figured out what Blossom did, so he had her killed!
"He killed Lucy and your wife," I said.
"That slime ball's gonna pay," says Ryan.
Clifford's POV:
That Wonderland weirdo's now acting like a fraidycat. Gotham goofballs are useless! Now, Drew probably has the journal and is going to expose me! I have to leave town! But first, I better get rid of Drew!
Nancy's POV:
I was on my way to Pop's when I was confronted by someone wearing the Black Hood's mask.
"I don't know how you got that mask," I said, "but I know it's you, Mr. Blossom!"
"Doesn't matter," he says, "because you're never going to tell anyone!"
"So, you're the one who told the leprechaun to kill Tiffany," I said.
"All I had to do was capture him and he did whatever I said," says Blossom.
"And you hired that forensic scientist," I said.
"You'd be surprised what some people are willing to do for money," says Blossom.
"But how did you manage to control the Scarecrow," I asked, "he isn't exactly what he used to be."
"No, but he still loves scaring people," says Blossom, "I just had to motivate him!"
"And that Mad Hatter wannabe," I asked.
"Also money," says Blossom, "I even had him trick Detective Hart into thinking Ryan killed Lucy!"
"And she witnessed you killing someone else," I said.
"My wife was having an affair," says Blossom, "so, really, I was the victim there!"
"And it all comes down to this," I said.
"That's right," says Blossom, "goodbye Nancy Drew!"
Just as he was about to shoot me, there was a fog. It was Lucy. She was floating in front of him. She then held up her arm and Blossom was getting older and older until he was reduced to a pile of bones. I looked in horror. Lucy then leaves.
. . .
I showed the journal and my Dad was released, but the police are looking for Clifford Blossom. I don't know how to tell them Lucy killed him. I know Cheryl's not taking this well.
. . .
Shaun and I are happy to have our Dad back... but there's still one more thing.
"Dad," I said, "I feel like you're not telling me something."
"You're right," he said, "I'm not."
Carson's POV:
Kate and I were there the night Lucy died while she was still alive. Before Clifford Blossom killed her. Kate got a call from Lucy and we both went to meet with her. Lucy had just given birth and she made us promise to take care of her and keep her safe from the Hudsons. When we left, that was probably when Blossom killed her. We honored her wish and raised the baby as our own. Lucy's baby thrived. She grew up to be whip-smart and compassionate and kind and endlessly curious. And she loves solving mysteries. We named her Nanette but her nickname is Nancy!
You saw that coming. In the next chapter, Nancy and her friends look for a way to vanquish the Aglaeca.
