Chapter 27: The Twin Dilemma:
Nancy's POV:
I probably should mention how I was adopted and I'm actually a Hudson, but instead, I'm going to talk about the bigger problem... my friends and I are all cursed by the Aglaeca! We tried to lift the curse, but it failed because it turns out the Aglaeca used to be human. Go figure. There is at least a clue, the girl in that painting looked like the Aglaeca. Maybe if we learned more about that, we might know how to get rid of this problem. What could possibly go wrong?
Groundskeeper's POV:
There I was, just minding my own business when I saw that Drew girl. She was glaring at me for some reason. I decided to see what was up, so I walked over and...
Nancy's POV:
I was talking to Karen's replacement, Abe Tamura.
"From what we've learned, the murderer was holding this," says Det. Tamura.
"Hey, that's my phone," I said, "I've been looking all over for this."
"Do you have any enemies," asks Det. Tamura.
I then looked at him. "Does Superman have superpowers," I asked.
"Fair point," says Det. Tamura, "well, I hope you understand what this means."
"I'm a suspect," I said, "I hope you remember a previous frame up."
"Don't worry, this time we're keeping our options opened," says Det. Tamura, "but we are still keeping an eye on you."
"Noted," I said. Det. Tamura then leaves. Something tells me I better figure out what's going on.
. . .
I was at the graveyard. If I don't do something about the Aglaeca, I'll be moving in. Right now, I better focus on the twin thing. I then saw Shaun. He was walking towards a homeless guy.
"Spare change," says the homeless guy.
And to my shock, Shaun killed him! I then chased after Shaun, but then I lost him.
. . .
My crew and I were at Pop's.
"Wait, so you and I both have evil twins," asks Shaun.
"He looked exactly like you," I said.
"So, is this something we're going to have to worry about," asks Bess.
"As if we didn't have enough problems," says George.
"And Det. Tamura found your phone," asks Ned.
"Yeah, Shaun, did you lose anything," I asked.
"Now that you mention it," says Shaun, "my wallet... awe man, Evil Shaun probably stole it!"
"I think I saw a movie with something like this," says George, "and pretty soon, it's going to be revealed that one of us has been a fake the entire time."
"So, we're going to have to fear us," asks Bess.
"Maybe it's just me and Shaun," I said.
"Or not," says Ned, "because I just saw Bess walking towards that girl that was stalking Reggie before."
We all moved.
. . .
Reggie's stalker was dead.
"At least you have an alibi," says Shaun to Bess.
. . .
"Evil twins," asks Det. Tamura, "okay... umm... you kids, by any chance, seen a certain movie?"
"Look, crazier things have happened," I said, "I've been haunted by the Ghost of Dead Lucy and now the Aglaeca is after us!"
"I... don't really believe in Dead Lucy or the Aglaeca," says Det. Tamura, "look, Pop, is it, you can confirm that Bess was in your restaurant, right?"
"She sure was," says Pop.
"Okay, so it's possible you just saw someone dressed like her," says Det. Tamura.
"Or I have an evil twin," says Bess.
"I found something," says a cop, "did anyone lose this purse?"
Bess looks and realizes she was missing her purse. "Just hand it to me."
. . .
"At least he believed that it wasn't Bess," says Ned.
"Problem is, he doesn't believe it was a doppelgänger," says Bess. We all look at her. "A biologically unrelated look-alike, or a double, of a living person."
"So, we all have double gangsters," asks Shaun.
"Doppelgänger," says Bess.
"But why do they keep taking our items," I asked.
"Excuse me," says Dilton Doiley, "I believe I might know the answer to your dilemma."
. . .
"You see, I've been trying to find if there are other universes," says Dilton, "and I managed to reach into one... sssooorrrttt oooffffff... actually, I found an antimatter world and I kind of accidently invited your counterparts here."
"That explains it," says George.
"Why are they killing people," asks Shaun.
"They're mindless," says Dilton, "they just do what you guys would never do."
"And how are they taking our stuff," asks Ned.
"Somethings can't be explained with science," says Dilton.
"So, we just put them back where they came from," I said.
"Maybe we can trick the Aglaeca into going after them," says Shaun.
"You guys believe in the Aglaeca," asks Dilton.
"Guys, take a look outside," says George.
All of Riverdale was getting wonky. "Uh-oh," says Dilton, "you can't be in the same world as your counterparts. If we don't do something soon, the Universe will turn itself inside out!"
"You mean this is going on everywhere," asks Ned.
Sonic's POV:
I saw reality going nuts.
Emal's POV:
I'm having a weird dream.
Nancy's POV:
"We have to get my portal working again," says Dilton.
"Okay, we'll just find them and throw them in," says Ned.
"Another thing," says Dilton, "if you touch them, it will destroy the entire Universe a lot quicker!"
"Can we throw Dilton in the portal," asks George.
. . .
We were then searching for our doppelgängers.
"How do we catch them without touching them," asks Ned.
"What if we grab each other's double gangsters," says Shaun.
"Doppelgängers," I said, "and that's not a bad idea."
Ned's POV:
I was looking and I saw Shaun's evil twin. I then grabbed him.
Bess' POV:
I found George's counterpart, and I grabbed her.
Shaun's POV:
I found Nancy's counterpart, and I grabbed her.
George's POV:
I found Bess' counterpart, and I grabbed her.
Nancy's POV:
I found Ned's counterpart, and I grabbed him.
. . .
Dilton activates the portal, and we throw them all in and Dilton shuts the portal down.
"And that takes care of that," says Dilton.
. . .
"And Det. Tamura didn't believe it," I asked.
"Apparently, a thug drugged him while that was happening," says Ned, "what are the odds?"
"Well, that takes care of that," I said, "but there's still one more problem." I was referring to the Aglaeca.
In the next chapter, Nancy Drew meets someone dressed as Zorro.
