Chapter 30: The Fate of the Buried Treasure:

Nancy's POV:

So, first, we were trying to solve the murder of my birth Mom, but that somehow led to my friends, and I being cursed by a sea hag called the Aglaeca. She's threatening to kill us in different ways. Ned was gonna drown, George was gonna get attacked by a big wolf, Bess was gonna get burnt alive, Shaun was gonna be hanged, and I was going to die the same way my Mom did. Now, we're trying to find a way out of this.

"Anything," I asked.

"I think I got something," says Bess, "a dybbuk box! We can use it to trap the Aglaeca!"

"Great," I said, "where is it?"

"We'd have to get it from the Lodges," says Bess.

"That should be a problem," I said.

Salem's POV:

I was looking at the Lodges' house. Veronica is a witch? I mean, I always thought so, but I didn't think she was literally a witch! I had to learn more. So, I snuck in.

Carson's POV:

I decided to have a talk with Ryan. I knocked on his door and his daughter answered. "Can I help you," asks Laura.

"I was wondering if your father was home," I asked.

"Why," asks Laura.

"I just want to talk to him," I said.

"Fine," says Laura. She then walks away. She then came back. "He'll be with you soon."

"Thanks." There was an awkward pause. "So, how'bout that weather..."

"Just because your daughter is technically my Dad's daughter, doesn't mean we can talk."

"Right." Thank goodness for that. This whole thing was going to be awkward enough.

Nancy's POV:

I talked with Veronica.

"You want a what," asks Veronica.

"A dybbuk box," I said, "we have a problem, and the box can fix that!"

"WWWeeellllll... my Mom might have what you're looking for. I'll see what I can do."

"Thanks," I said.

Salem's POV:

One thing I don't like about rich people, their houses are too big. And why do they have a fountain in the middle of a hallway. I then walked through a tunnel, and I came across... another fountain? Either the Lodges really like fountains or... I'm lost! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST! I'M LOST!

Nancy's POV:

Veronica took us to the box. "There it is," says Veronica, "My Mom has a lot of weird things in her collection."

"Why do I get the feeling your mom's an international treasure hunter," asks Ned.

"Can we borrow the box," asks Bess.

"Heck no," says Veronica, "I'm sorry, but the box stays!"

We were desperate, so... "What's that over there?" Veronica looked and I grabbed the box and we left.

Salem's POV:

I have to get away from the fountain! I then saw Veronica's Mother and... I just realized she looks... she's the descendant of Luna Moonfall! now I get it! I then found a window and I jumped out.

Nancy's POV:

As we were running from Lodge Mansion, Salem lands in front of us.

"Fancy seeing you here," says Salem.

. . .

We were at Sabrina's house.

"You guys stole this from the Lodges," says Sabrina, "and Salem, are you sure Veronica's one of the other two witches? Didn't her ancestors hate witches?"

"On her father's side, but I believe her mother's side might be descendant from... someone I knew."

"Never mind," I said, "we can use this to imprison the Aglaeca!"

"Okay, but I need to make sure this thing is safe," says Sabrina. She then waves her hands over it and then a spirit came. It looked like Veronica's Mother.

"Luna," says Salem.

"I can no longer remain silent. My husband murdered Odette LaMar on The Governance and conspired with others to cover up the crime. I reaped the benefit of the wealth he stole from her for years. But then I discovered letters Odette wrote to an English woman. It was clear that Odette would never marry Douglas. Nor any man. At night I heard my husband cry out, haunted by his evil deeds. I turned to Reverend Hudson for comfort. I thought I could trust him, but he was my husband's partner in this wretched scheme. Now they claim I am losing my mind. I am to be locked away today in silence forever. I've requested one final visit to the chapel. I've sworn I wish to confess my sins, but I wish to confess the truth. I shall leave this letter along with Odette's beloved possessions, so that part of her may rest free from the hands of her persecutors. And I shall do my best to ensure receipt of these treasures by someone of good faith who can interpret my message and who is willing to believe. So, help me God."

She then leaves.

"I didn't even understand any of that," says Bess.

"I did," says Salem, "her name was Luna Moonfall, an ancestor of Veronica Lodge on her mother's side... and someone I once loved." We all stare at him. "Her husband was Douglas Gomez. But before that, there was a woman named Odette LaMar. I barely knew her, so I didn't know the story."

. . .

We took Salem to the museum.

"Does she look something like this," asks Bess. We showed him the painting.

"That's her," says Salem, "my sworn enemy was connected to my lost love!"

Carson's POV:

I was talking with Ryan.

"I know you're Nancy's Father," I said, "and I think you need to spend more time with her."

"I'm not sure if that's a good idea," says Ryan.

"So, you're gonna keep running," I asked.

"There are some complications," says Ryan. He then walks back inside. I looked and saw Laura glaring. Something tells me she isn't ready for a sister.

Nancy's POV:

We were at the beach. The Aglaeca came. We tried to use the box, but she sent it to the sea. She then looked at us.

"You vile hag," says Salem.

"Wait," I said, "we know about your story. We can help you!"

The Aglaeca then takes human form and looks at us, but then she was about to strike, but before she could, the sea takes her back.

"You can't trust a demon," says Salem.

"Maybe you're right," I said, "maybe we have to kill her!"

Veronica Lodge is a Descendant of the Netherworld Moonfall Family through her mother. Veronica Lodge is a Distant Cousin of Monique Moonfall. In the next chapter, Nancy attempts to take out the Aglaeca once and for all.
