Chapter 44: The Double Jinx Mystery:
Nancy's POV:
I was sleeping when I heard a sound. I looked and saw someone was throwing rocks at my window. I looked out and saw a girl who looked at least 9. "Can I help you," I asked.
"Actually, you can," she said, "I'm cursed!"
. . .
I then talked to the girl. "My name is Jinx Holiday, but everyone calls me Lil's Jinx."
"Jinx," I asked, "what were you cursed with? Bad luck?"
"Actually, yes," says Lil's Jinx.
"Oh," I said.
"Everywhere I go, people get hurt."
"Well, that hasn't happened to me," I said. Then I rested my feet on the table and then the table fell apart, and my feet fell. "On the other hand,..."
"You deal with this stuff all the time, right," asks Lil's Jinx.
"I'll see what I can do," I said.
. . .
I then took to Lil's Jinx to Sabrina. Sabrina took a good look at her. "I think I might have an idea," says Sabrina.
"So, is it a ghost," I asked.
"No, but he's going to be." Sabrina then walks away.
Sabrina's POV:
I knocked on the door and Jinx Malloy answers.
"Sabrina, what can I do for you," asks Jinx.
"There's a little girl named Jinx and she's cursed with bad luck," I said, "why?"
"Oh no," says Jinx, "I kind of... borrowed one of your spell books to try to remove my curse. I told the book to give it to some other... jinx?"
"Oh great," I said, "and it chose a little girl who happens to be named Jinx, Jinx."
"That wasn't what I meant," says Jinx.
"Right. You couldn't have said some other sucker," I asked.
"Yeah, that's my bad," says Jinx.
"Because you casted the spell, you have to fix this," I said.
"Okay, I'll do it."
Gomber's POV:
I overheard their talk. A little girl that could destroy Riverdale. Interesting. Very interesting.
Nancy's POV:
Everything around this kid kept breaking. "I'm sorry," says Lil's Jinx.
"Don't worry," I said, "I'm sure Sabrina's gonna find a way to fix you!"
Then a ghostly clown appears. "Hi hi!"
"Really," I asked.
The clown then knocks me down and grabs Lil' Jinx and leaves.
. . .
"Got it," says Sabrina, "his name is Knickknack. He would kidnap kids to force them to watch his shows."
"Maybe that's why he grabbed the kid," says this guy that Sabrina knows named Jinx. Apparently, he's the cause of Lil's Jinx' misfortune.
"I have a feeling I know what's really going on," I said.
Gomber's POV:
"You did good, Knickknack," I said, "hi there. Don't worry, all we're going to do is increase the power of your little curse and have it tear down this whole town!"
"Why are you doing this," asks Lil's Jinx.
"I wanna know the reason for that too," says Knickknack, "is it for the Big Boss?"
"No, I just don't like this place," I said, "now, blow the balloon!"
Nancy's POV:
We saw a giant balloon being blown on the top of a tower.
"What will that do," I asked.
"The balloon will make the curse stronger," says Sabrina, "enough to destroy all of Riverdale!"
"We have to hurry," says Jinx.
We then ran towards the tower.
. . .
We arrived, but all the bad luck was making it hard for us to get there.
"Looks like it's my lucky day," says Gomber, "you know what's the best part about making a deal with dark forces? Bad luck can't get to you!"
"Sabrina, give me the book," says Jinx. Sabrina does so and Jinx opens it onto the page he used before. "Give me back the curse! Let it be my problem again!" Then the curse was transferred from Lil' Jinx and back to Jinx. The balloon then pops, but the town is still standing.
Knickknack was then facing us. "Here's a real killer," says Knickknack.
I then opened the book, and it sucks him up. Gomber then leaves.
. . .
"I'm really sorry about what I put you through," says Jinx. Lil' Jinx then hugs him. This was pretty lucky.
In the next chapter, Nancy deals with the Arbiter.
