I rejoined the group. Wyldstyle and Batman looked irritated. Vitruvius looked worried. Unikitty looked concerned. I continued to walk past them, and out the door. "Well, at least it can't get any worse than this, right?" I muttered.
Right after, a giant crash sounded behind me. I peeked and saw a giant ball rolling and destroying everything it touched. "I was wrong!" I cried, running to the door, only to be stopped by Master Builders.
"Ruh-roh, it's the police," the bad cop from before said over an intercom.
"What?" I cried. "How did he find us?"
"What's that on his ankle?" a watery woman's voice asked. I looked down to see a weird, red, beeping thing attached to my ankle. "It's a tracking device!" a knight said, bending down to look.
"What?" Wyldstyle asked.
"You lead them right to us!" Batman yelled. "You are literally the worst!" Batman tried to leave but Wyldstyle stopped him. "Protect The Special!" she commanded.
"Ugh, fine!" Batman grunted. "To the Batmobile!" He pointed out the window to his car, which then got blasted to bits by the police. "Dang it," he sighed.
"To the Invisible Jet!" Wonder Woman said, jumping up next to him. The police, somehow, knew where her jet was and blew that up too. "Dang it." Batman grunted and shot his grappling hook out the window. "Every man for himself!"
"Babe!" Wyldstyle yelled. "You get back up here!" Batman ignored her and started beating up robots. She growled.
"We must protect the Piece!" Superman said, floating next to me. "Shaq, do you know what time it is?"
"It's game time!" Shaq exclaimed. He, and a bunch of other team members, built a catapult and put a basketball in the basket. "Ya'll ready for this?" Shaq asked. He shot the ball at the police copters. They didn't appreciate that too much and turned towards him, shooting the catapult. "Oh no! They were ready for that!" Shaq cried.
"Why didn't it break?" Superman asked, floating outside with Shaq.
"It's Kragled," the bad cop said. Kragled? Kragle prevented it from breaking? What is that thing? "Go, go, go! Get The Special out of here!" Wyldstyle said, pushing me out the window. I fell on my face. "Ow." She helped me up and pushed me forward, fighting off robots behind me. A few others led me to a safer area, including Gandalf, the Green Ninja, and Dumbledore, before they all split to fight off different robots.
"There you are," one robot said, coming around a corner.
"Uh, guys?" I called. "A-a little help here?"
The robots smiled and charged me. I didn't have time to run. "Let go!" I cried. I pushed one over, but the other grabbed my arms. A third came out of nowhere and grabbed my legs. The one holding my arms got shot from one of the police lasers, so the one I pushed down took his place and grabbed my head.
"H-hey, what are you doing?" I cried. They started pulling, hoping to pop my head off I think! "You're pulling my torso off!" I cried. I heard Wyldstyle's voice but I was too busy trying to not die to really listen to her. I just heard shuffling, clanking, and grumbling, then I was free.
I stood and stumbled. "Woah, let's not do that again!" I said. I tried to walk but I was all dizzy. "You okay?" Wyldstyle checked.
"Yeah, yeah, give me a second," I replied.
"Sorry, Emmet, but we don't have a second," she said. She pushed me forward a little. Batman pulled the thing off my ankle and threw it somewhere. Vitruvius had splashed me with water. "Better?"
"Oh, actually, yeah, thanks!" I said.
"They've hit our silly cloud stabilizers!" Unikitty cried, coming up next to me.
"The what?" I asked.
"The cloud is sinking!" Unikitty said.
"We need to get Emmet out of here!" Wyldstyle commanded.
"Can't we build something?" I asked. These guys are Master Builders, they should be able to build anything! Why haven't they yet?
The Space Guy came over, floating. "Hi! I'm Ben, but you can call me Benny! I can build a spaceship!" He started floating around and quickly putting pieces together. "Sorry, we can't the skies are crowded," Wyldstyle said.
"Oh, okay. I'll just...I'll just build it later then." He kicked it and it broke. "Well, where else can we go?" Unikitty asked desperately.
I looked around. Well, we are in the sky. And if the sky is full, then maybe the ground isn't. Although it's not really ground. It's more of water. Hey, that could work! "Maybe...we can go...underwater?" I mumbled.
"We can go underwater!" Batman said over me.
"That's a great idea, babe!" Wyldstyle said.
"I just said that!" I yelled. Vitruvius looked at me but said nothing.
"We could build a submarine," Wyldstyle said.
"A Bat-Submarine," Batman added.
"With glitter and rainbows!" Unikitty said.
"And dreamcatchers!" Vitruvius said excitedly. They stared at him. "In case we need a nap."
"Like an underwater spaceship!" Benny cheered.
"How are you going to build all of them at once?" I asked. They ignored me and huddled. "Ready, break!" they said. I just joined by the time they broke. "Okay..." I muttered.
The Master Builders all scattered, grabbing pieces and building around me. First they built a set of wheels under me to keep me going downhill. "I need blue razzleberry and sour apple," Unikitty said.
"What now?" Wyldstyle asked, handing her a green.
"Thank you!" Unikitty sang a little.
"If anyone has black parts, I need them," Batman said. "I only work in black...and very, very dark grey."
"Use yellow," Wyldstyle said. They build really fast! Is that just a Master Builder thing or have they just done it for a really long time? Maybe both! "Maybe I can help?" I tried. Unikitty didn't answer. I can't tell if she really likes her colors or she is angry at me too. "Anyone need anything?" I asked to Benny and Batman. Batman grunted. Benny ignored me and floated over to Wyldstyle. "We could use rocket boosters!"
"Ew, get your space stuff out of my area," she said, pushing him away.
"Just tell me what to do and I'll do it!" I tried.
"Emmet, don't worry about the others," Vitruvius said. "You must find what is special about you." He put another block down, glanced at me again, and walked away.
What's special about me? What is special about me? I mean, we could use a place to sit. Somewhere comfortable. Plus, there is a lot of us, maybe somewhere big. That's it! I'll build the Double Decker Couch!
I ran around inside the submarine grabbing spare blue pieces and stacking them together. I know how to build a couch. I had to put mine together when I bough a new one. And a ladder is easy. I do work in a construction site after all. I built two couches and clipped them onto the ladders I made. I found a few spare cups and put them in the cup holders. Finally, I opened the seats and stuffed coolers in the cushions. Perfect!
"Emmet, get in here!" Wyldstyle said, throwing me inside the cockpit of the submarine. I got stuck upside down, even after they flipped it over. "Dive, dive, dive!" Wyldstyle said. "Everyone in, we're going down!"
I finally flipped myself over, only to see the water fast approaching. I screamed as we came closer and closed my eyes as we entered.
After a little bit, we all meet in the biggest space, the spot where we can see everyone's blocks, and my Double Decker Couch. Unikitty is looking out the window, sniffling. "My home..." she said, her ears going down. "I feel something inside, it's like...the opposite of happiness." She turned red again at the last part before she turned pink again. "I must stay positive!" she tried. "Bubblegum!" she said, looking out the window and doing breathing exercises. "Sugar plums!" A bit of The Dog broke. "Cotton candy?" she said, her voice shaky.
She sat down and curled her tail around her legs. She started crying. I walked over to her and put my hand on her back. "I'm so sorry, Unikitty," I said. I hesitated. Unikitty is really upset. What do I do? Oh, I can make her feel better first!
"Do you want to know what I do when I'm sad?" I asked. Unikitty sniffled and looked at me. She didn't say anything. That's fine. Her home was just destroyed so it's understandable.
I closed my eyes really tight, hummed a note, then stuck my tongue out, humming the same note a little higher. "Went the green frog one day," I sang. I repeated the two motions again, along with the notes. "Went the little green frog." I repeated them again. "Went the little green frog one day, so they all went-" I did the same motions as before, this time, adding me saying "ah" to it. "But we all know frogs go," I clapped, "La-de-la-de-la!" I clapped again. "La-de-la-de-la!" I clapped a third time. "La-de-la-de-la! We all know frogs go, la-de-la-de-la! They don't go-" I finished it off by doing the first two motions again, adding the "ah" at the end of it. I sang it a little slower than usual.
"Except...it's a little faster than that," I added. Unikitty smiled a little bit but it didn't seem to help too much. "Do you...want to sit and talk about it?" I asked, motioning towards the Double Decker Couch. That seemed to have caught her attention, but she stared at it with a confused expression on her face.
"What. The heck. Is that?" Batman asked.
"It's a Double Decker Couch," I replied. I looked at the floor, embarrassed. "It seemed like a good idea at the time, but maybe it's not that useful." I paused. "It does have cup holders...and...seat that flip up with coolers underneath." I explained, showing them each of the things I mentioned.
"Why are my pants cold and wet?" Vitruvius asked.
"Ew," Wyldstyle said.
The alarms inside the submarine went off and one of the windows bust open. "The walls are crying!" Unikitty cried.
"We're falling apart!" Benny exclaimed.
"This is not how Batman dies," Batman said, being crushed against a window. The water pushed me towards the Double Decker Couch but the Piece of Resistance makes it very hard to stay above water. "Emmet!" Wyldstyle called. "Hold on!"
"Wyldstyle!" I called.
"Deep breaths, everybody! Deep breaths!" Wyldstyle called.
Author's Note
"Why are my pants cold and wet?" Vitruvius said, earning him disgusted looks from the whole submarine.
The song in this chapter is a song my mom sang to me a while ago. I thought I should put it in, 'cause it fits Emmet really well.
