When Bucky and Holly woke up the next morning at five and after running a few miles that morning, at 6:30 they had eaten something. Holly had made breakfast for the both of them before going into the office to try and get a job for Bucky from Happy. Holly had made a full English breakfast of back bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, fried tomatoes, fried mushrooms, a slice of fried bead, a slice of toast, black pudding, and baked beans. Holly had made the breakfast the way her mother had done it all her life and had taught her how to do it when she asked to learn.
The two had needed to eat something before they did anything at all for the day, even if it was only arguing with Happy on getting Bucky a job. Holly was really hopeful that Bucky would get the job that she was trying to get for him otherwise she would have to get him a job elsewhere. She was hopeful that was not the case as Holly had known no one would hire someone who had no work history in this century.
"Thank you doll." Bucky said as Holly put a plate of food down on the table in front of him for him to eat.
Bucky only had a full English breakfast a few times in his life and they were all while the war was going on and he was in Potter manor when it was served to him. And he seemed to like the breakfast whenever he was given it by Tilupa when he had spent the night at the Potter family home. Bucky's appreciation of the food that was made was one reason why Tilupa had started liking Bucky back in 1944 to 1945.
"You're welcome Bucky." Holly said
Before grabbing her plate, Holly set out some low pulp orange juice and and coffee with cream and sugar on the side for her and Bucky to drink while they ate their food. When Holly sat down herself, Bucky then started eating what he was given as he was taught by his mother not to eat till everyone in the house was at the table even if they were not eating.
"Have you ever done what Peggy called the full Yankee?" Bucky asked
"I actually haven't done the full Yankee yet. Maybe I could since you are here." Holly said
"Oh please do. I actually want to try it." Bucky said as he went back to his food.
After they ate their food, they got showered, dressed into their work clothes and went to where Happy's office was in Stark Industries. When they got to the office, they told Happy what they wanted to do and to say he was pissed would be an understatement.
"And why would you want him as your bodyguard?" Happy asked
Happy didn't understand why Holly all of a sudden wanted a bodyguard when she desperately avoided all other attempts to protect her with a bodyguard in the past. Sure he knew that Holly had other ways on protecting herself, but he had promised Tony to protect Holly himself. And now all of a sudden she brings in a man he doesn't know into his office and says she want him to be her bodyguard.
"Because I have known him for a long time. And I know that he is trustworthy and will do anything to protect me." Holly said
"If you have known him for a long time, then why hasn't Tony said anything about him?" Happy asked
"That's because Tony doesn't know Bucky. They've never met." Holly said
Holly didn't tell Happy that Howard Stark had known Bucky before he died because of the war.
"Then how do you know him?" Happy asked
"It involves classified information that I can't tell you till I have the say so." Holly asked
"Ugh." Happy said as he put his face into his hands.
"I know. But I'm a legacy at that agency and I can't discredit their integrity." Holly said
Happy then looks up and sees that Holly was rubbing the part of her arm that her soul mark was located and he knew that the man she brought to be her bodyguard knew her soulmate.
"Well, can you get me the unreacted parts of his background?" Happy asked knowing that Holly would find another spot for Bucky if he didn't hire him as Holly's bodyguard.
"I can try to get it here in a few hours." Holly said
Holly and Bucky soon left Happy's office and went to Holly's office so they could make the call to Fury who was probably at SHIED now.
"Hello?" Fury asked
"Hey Nicky boy. I'm going to need Bucky's background." Holly said
Fury groaned as there were only two people on the entire planet who would ever dare call Fury Nicky Boy and one of them was Holly.
"Happy finally relented in giving you what you want?" Fury asked
"Defiantly." Holly said
"I'll have Coulson drop off the file in ruffly two hours or so for Happy." Fury said
"Thank you Nick." Holly said
"You're welcome." Fury said before hanging up the phone
It wasn't that unusual for Nick to hang up the phone before he or anyone had said goodbye like a normal person would. Holly had gotten used to it as the SHIELD director was a very complicated man who his behind the word classified like it was a mask.
"What now?" Bucky asked
Bucky didn't know what to do with himself as he always had something to do when he was trapped at SHIELD before he got to Holly's house. He was either helping the scientists replicate the super soldier serum from a combination of his and Steve's blood. Or he was making sure that Steve thawed properly and just taking a shift to watch over him so he wouldn't be kidnapped.
"We'll wait for your file. For right now I have work to do and a whiny Stark to keep at bay." Holly said
On the way to the office, Holly had told Bucky about Tony and how he was extremely needy when it came to his best friend. Holly even told Buck on how she had hired Tony's soulmate, Pepper, when she was promoted to CEO just over two years ago.
"Okay." Bucky said
Bucky say on the couch as Holly turned on her computer to do her work for the day as the both of them waited for Phil to bring the file. Bucky was reading a book that he found on Holly's shelf as he needed something to do while he waited and Holly did her work. After a couple of hours, at 10:30, Phil came in with the file that Happy needed for Bucky to give him that job that Holly wanted for him.
"Thank you Phil." Holly said as she stood to her feet and moved to the other side of her desk.
Holly hugged Phil who had reciprocated the hug on his end.
"It was no problem, really." Phil said
"Still, I appreciate this though." Holly said
Phil then handed the file to Holly so she could give it to Happy so he could hire Bucky as her bodyguard and everything could go back to normal. Or as normal as a 29 year old witch and 90 year old super soldier from the 1940's can be in this century and the jobs they have or want.
"Still on for lunch tomorrow?" Phil asked
"For sure. I'll see you tomorrow." Holly said
The two hugged goodbye before Phil took his leave so he could do his job so he wouldn't be fired and he had to go job hunting. Phil hadn't had to do that since college and he had to do it only once while he had to go undercover for an assignment. As soon as Phil left, Holly spun on her heal to turn to Bucky and smiled like the cat ate the canary.
"Ready to get that job?" Holly asked as she held up the file.
"Hell yeah." Bucky said as he stood to his feet.
Holly and Bucky begin their journey to Happy's office so he could begin the hiring process for Bucky so he could have an actual job.
"Don't you dare speak to me till you have the file." Happy said
"I have the file." Holly said with a smile as she held up the file.
"Finally! Let's get started shall we?" Happy said as he turned to Holly and Bucky with the paperwork for his end.
Holly gave the file to Happy as Bucky sat down across from the head of security before she left the office for the chair by the door. Holly had to leave as Happy had to do the interview alone and she couldn't help Bucky with it as he had do deal with it all by himself.
"Lets start shall we. First soulmates name?" Holly had heard Happy ask as she shut the door behind her.
After an hour of mindlessly scrolling on the tablet she brought with her, Happy and Bucky had come out and Bucky was smiling.
"Welcome to the team." Happy said
"Thank you Happy." Bucky said
As Happy went back into his office, Bucky turned to Holly who was still sitting in the chair.
"Have a good chat?" Holly asked
"I'm your new Bodyguard." Bucky said with the biggest smile that Holly had ever seen on his face.
Not even in the war he ever smiled that big, there were smaller smiles about good things and because of the war, everyone in the military rarely smiled.
"Do you need a tour or something?" Holly asked
"Lets do that another time. Why not get anything to eat?" Bucky asked
"Sure. Let's go get something to eat." Holly said
Holly lead Bucky to the garage and to her car so they could go to a restaurant.
"Have any thing in mind that you want to eat?" Holly asked before she started the car.
"I've always wanted to try Indian food." Bucky said
"How so?" Holly asked
"The agents of the SHIELD base I was on always raved about the food. So I thought that I'd give it a try." Bucky said
"Then I know just the place." Holly said
Holly then drove the the restaurant called, Electric Karma Indian Cuisine, so they could have their lunch.
"Here we are." Holly said as she parked.
The two got out of the car and walked to the restaurant and they got a place to sit.
"Ready to order?" The waitress asked once she came up the the table.
Bucky and Holly ordered their food and drinks, Bucky had a little help from Holly in ordering his food though as he had no idea what to get. The drinks had come to the table and to Holly and Bucky first as food usually takes a lot longer to be made than the drinks. After another ten minutes the food and another round of drinks came to the table, the two friends started to eat what they were given.
"So, how do you like it?" Holly asked
"I like it, but it's not my favorite." Bucky said
"You still have many more cuisines to try out." Holly said
"Sure." Bucky said
After eating their food and finishing their drinks, Bucky and Holly went back to the S.I. offices do do the rest of their days work. After finishing for the day and Happy training Bucky for his new job and what it entails in the protection of Holly, they went home. Once through the doors, both the magical and muggle security systems went up to protect them from every side. The boarders of the magical system were at the fences and gates of Holly's property that stopped everyone who didn't have the code to enter the property.
Holly had keyed in certain people to the magical system so Holly could have some visitors that would not harm her in any way. The people who were keyed into the system by Holly were Phil, Nick, her parents, grandparents, Charlus, Tony, Happy and now Bucky. When Steve wakes up, Holly would key him in so he wouldn't have to stop at the borders and wait for Holly to bring him in.
"You hungry?" Holly asked
"I could eat." Bucky said
"Got anything in mind?" Holly asked
"I don't really care way you make as long as its good and not tasting boiled." Bucky said
"I got an idea." Holly said
Holly grabbed all the ingredients she needed to make spaghetti and meatballs with home made bread from the fridge and pantry. Holly started making the bread dough first as it would have taken the longest amount of time with the rising from the yeast. While waiting for the dough for the bread to rise, Holly started making the mixture for the meatballs that she needed for dinner. It took the right amount of time to make the meat mixture and form the meatballs as it took the dough to rise.
After Holly put the bread in, she began boiling the noodles and frying the meatballs and started seasoning the sauce in a bowl. Once everything was done and made, Holly put it all in fancy serving dishes and placed warming charms on it so it would still taste fresh. Holly then placed plates, silver wear, cheese, butter and drinks onto the table to be used for dinner.
"Bucky! Dinner!" Holly called out
"Coming!" Bucky answered
Bucky walked into the dining area of the kitchen and saw the display on the table.
"Wow! That seems like good food." Bucky said
"I've out done myself this time." Holly said
The two sat down and started eating the food that was made.
"Wow. This is really good." Bucky said
"Everything is home made. I made the noodles, the sauce, the meatballs and the bread." Holly said
"You really made everything that I'm eating right now?" Bucky asked
"Yep. And it was really easy to do. Though I didn't make the spices and herbs as I don't have the patience to grow them myself or get it from the sea." Holly said
"So you just buy them at the store?" Bucky asked
"Yep." Holly said nodding her head in agreement.
The two continued to eat their food, Bucky even got second and third helpings of it as it was just that good and he needed the extra calories due to the serum. After dinner, Holly cleaned up even though Bucky tried to do it himself as he had been taught that if someone makes dinner, the others need to clean up. But Holly did not let him as she wanted to do it herself so she could have something to do as she did not want to sit down and do nothing. Though she did have video game consoles, like an Wii and an X-Box by her TV with games that Tony had hacked onto them for her.
