Immediately after showing the book, Hange snapped it from her commander. "What what what, you're saying this has information on Jason's father?"

Erwin held out his only hand, trying to get the book back, "It's a rough draft of a book my father tried to translate on his own." Giving up, his hand returned to its side, "He couldn't understand most of the text, but he was able to translate some of it." he explained.

Jason's head was racing. So the Greek and Roman gods do exist in this world? Then why don't I have my powers? Wait a sec… Jason started thinking back on all his encounters using his abilities. While it was true it came from within, they still worked. If this world truly had no connection to the Greeks and Romans, why would Gaia have found herself here? Or for that matter, why would the mist suddenly be in full effect. Just so the scouts would forget some trees?

No, the mist wasn't applied here in its neutral state. The mortals wouldn't be able to see his abilities otherwise. Just like his electricity, or Gaia's presence, someone already possessing the power of the Greek or Roman myths had to have used it.

Someone who can use the mist is after the Scouts. Jason sat back down slowly at the realization.

"I think you should join our regiment." Erwin's voice stripped him of his thoughts.

Jason took a second to register the sentence.

Hange nodded in agreement next to him.

"That would make the most sense. If anyone in the interior got wind that an outsider had infiltrated the walls, they'd try to kill him. Even if Jason knew nothing about the outside world, the top brass and the military police won't take that chance. Especially with the betrayal of Reiner and the others." The woman turned to him, "The best place at the moment for you would be joining our ranks."

"But I can't join the Scouts!" Jason exclaimed.

"Why?" The Commander asked, his face as plain as ever.

"Because..." Jason couldn't answer his question. He didn't know why he was so against it. Maybe it was because he had saved Berthold, an enemy of the Scouts? Or maybe it was because he didn't feel he deserved it? What is wrong with me? Why am I thinking like this? Your priority should be getting back home, not on whether or not you're worthy to join their ranks.

His thought process quickly subsided when a soft thunk opened one of the office doors. It opened slowly, showing two teenagers kneeling on the floor.

A pair of blonde and salmon colored hair met Jason's line of sight. Jean and Armin's eyes were slowly widening at the realization of their discovery.

"Oi." At the sound of Captain Levi's voice the two jumped in unison, standing at attention. "What are you two doing here?"

Jean's mouth opened, but no sound came out. Armin on the other hand couldn't hold it in. "When we woke up we saw that Ja… the prisoner was not in his bed, Sir. So we went searching for him. Then we saw you take him to the Commander's office, so we followed you here and have been on standby ever since… Sir."

Jean's face became one of despair. Armin's mouth had stayed open. The poor boy just realized he admitted the two had eavesdropped on their superior's conversation.

Levi looked to the commander, "Erwin, this isn't the first time they've done this. Is it okay if I discipline them?" Erwin, not interested in the conversation, nonchalantly replied, "I do not mind. The paperwork for them and the others to be a part of your squad have already gone through. Do with them as you please." The two boys flinched at the affirmation of their punishment.

"I want to be a part of your squad." Jason blurted out suddenly. Everyone in the room looked at him. What are you doing? He thought to himself, but he kept going.

Jason looked to Erwin, "If you let me join Levi's squad, I'll join the Scouts."
