When they had arrived on land, the crew set à small camp for lunch, but after many days at sea, Maeve needed to stretch her legs a little more. "I am going for a walk." She had declared. "Go Ahead. I am gonna set this up and I'll be right behind you." Her captain had said.

When the norsemen attacked her, Maeve kept thinking Sinbad would arrive and help her. There were so many, she could not fight all of them. She thought she could defend herself for a while and Sinbad would be here soon to jump in and help her get rid of them. Her eyes kept searching for him through the bushes as her sword collided with the men's, but he never came. She had been knocked out and carried away.

After a long day as a prisoner, she was angry at him. If he had followed her as he had said, none of this would have happened. "Where have you been?" She had lashed out when he had removed her gag. They had managed to defeat the demon, but not without a cost. The Norsemen had lost their leader. They had helped to get him a proper burial and since the sun was setting, they had decided to set sail the next day.

Sinbad couldn't help but notice that Maeve was furious with him. She had not even looked at him since they had gotten out of that cave. "Don't worry," Doubar had said when he noticed his brother's concern. "She'll come around." When she stepped away from everybody to go see Dermott, he ceased the occasion to go talk to her. Further from the fire, in the darkness, he could only see the reflection of the flames in Dermott's eye. When he got close to the sorceress, she let out a deep sigh. "So? Where have you been?" she asked again even if a few hours had passed since the last time she had asked. She didn't even bother to look at him. She kept stroking Dermott's feathers. Sinbad tried to explain himself.

- I got distracted. We were talking and…

- You said you would come with me, Maeve interrupted. There were six of them and I was alone. They attacked me and kidnapped me. Where were you?

- I thought you were fine. He retorted in an annoyed tone. How could I know you would get kidnapped?

- You should have been there to help me! Maeve answered louder than she had intended.

She took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. Suddenly it dawned on him. She had been scared. Maybe she thought she would never be found. "As a captain, you are supposed to protect your crew… and you weren't there when I needed you." She expressed with slight discomfort. Sinbad nodded slowly as this last sentence confirmed what he already knew. He debated in his head whether or not he should touch her shoulder to comfort her, but decided not to since she was still angry. "Did they hurt you?" he carefully asked. Maeve finally turned to face him as Dermott flew away. "Well, let's see... I got knocked unconscious, carried away, handcuffed and gagged. Not to mention I have been traded to a demon." Sinbad rubbed his face. She had been through a lot. "Maeve, I came as soon as I could." He paused almost between every word, trying to let her know he was sincerely sorry. But she kept looking away. "I was worried sick about you." To those words, she locked eyes with him. "At least Eyolf was nice to me." She said in a low voice before walking away. He decided not to follow her, giving her the space she needed. Dermott flew back and landed close to him. "Do you think she'll forgive me for this?" He asked the hawk. Dermott let out a loud screech in response.

The next morning, Maeve was in a better mood. When it was time to say goodbye, she had shown some affection to Eyolf. When he had questioned her about how close she was to Eyolf, she had teased him, provoking laughter from the crew. He didn't know if she had been sincerely affectionate to Eyolf or if she had done it out of revenge. Maybe it was a little bit of both.
