I do not own Harry Potter, or anything from the DC Universe.
Hello guys, Badger here. A new chapter. A new story. I've had a lot of story ideas brewing. Some easier to write down then others. This is one of them. This one is a remake of a fanfic I started but got rid of when people told me it was too similar to someone else's work and, after reading their work I realised it was quite similar and took it down. I still wanted to do the story but took some time to figure out how to do it, without being too similar to other authors work and I think, hopefully, I have something good and different for you all, but I'll be the judge of that.
Anyway, I'll leave you to it. I hope you enjoy this first chapter and I'll see you at the end.
Chapter 1
He's Out There, Somewhere
It had been thirteen years. Thirteen long years since that Halloween Night, when the Potters were attacked and James and Lily Potter were killed. Dumbledore and Hagrid soon arrived on the scene. Sirius was already there but, to their surprise, Harry was missing. Inside Harry's nursery, alongside Lily's body, was a black cloak covered in black ash and Harry's empty crib. After calming the man down, Sirius had informed the two that he came, after receiving no response on their enchanted mirrors and Harry wasn't in his crib when he arrived. That left the question of who took Harry, if Sirius hadn't.
After arranging the burials for James and Lily, and clearing Sirius' names after the accusations came of him betraying the Potters, Dumbledore began his search for Harry. Most of the Wizarding World believed Harry was also dead, though Dumbledore and Sirius thought otherwise. Dumbledore especially. The ancient Headmaster knew Voldemort would return. He had, after all, made several Horcruxes. If Harry was the one the prophecy was speaking of, then he was the only one who could defeat the Dark Lord when he returned. He almost returned once already, during the situation with the Chamber of Secrets. Dumbledore was able to defeat both the Basilisk and Tom Riddle, before he could fully restore his body. However, young Ginny Weasley tragically died before Dumbledore could save her. Something that has left the Weasley Family distraught ever since. After defeating Riddle in the Chamber of Secrets and destroying one of the Dark Lords Horcruxes, Dumbledore began searching harder for Harry. Though, Dumbledore had to admit, after thirteen years of searching, with all his searches proving fruitless, Dumbledore was beginning to wonder if Harry had died that day and he had been wasting his time for several years.
Now though, Dumbledore had to keep a level head. This year, Hogwarts was hosting the TriWizard Tournament. An ancient Tournament that had been cancelled so many years ago, due to the amount of competitors that died. Dumbledore couldn't help but wonder why they would bring it back, though as one of the judges, he made sure the Tasks were rigged in a way to make sure none of the students from Hogwarts, or the other schools, lost their lives. The other two schools, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, had arrived a couple weeks ago and it was now time for the Goblet of Fire to select one champion from each school.
"Now, this is the moment you have all been waiting for!" Dumbledore said to all the students in the Great Hall "The Champion selection…the Goblet of Fire will select one lucky student from each school….starting with, Durmstrang"
Everyone watched as the blue flames of the Goblet turned an ominous crimson, before a charred piece of paper flew out of the goblet, before Dumbledore plucked it from the air, unfolding the burnt parchment, to see who's name was written down.
"And the champion for Durmstrang is…Viktor Krum!" Dumbledore called out
There were cheers from everyone in Durmstrang as an emotionless, cold looking male stood from the group and walked to the front of the Hall, gently taking his parchment from Dumbledore and heading through the side door pointed out to him, the emotionless mask never leaving his face. After Krum disappeared through the door, Dumbledore continued with the Champion selection.
"Next up, Beauxbatons!" He said
The same thing happened, where a burnt parchment flew from the crimson flames, which Dumbledore caught in his hand. Unfolding the paper, Dumbledore took a moment, trying to read the beautiful French calligraphy, before being able to tell whose name was written down.
"And the champion for Beauxbatons is Fleur Delacour!" He said
There were gentle claps as the silvery blonde stood up. Wolf whistles from the male population of the schools rang across the hall, much to the ire of Fleur, who quickened her pace ever so slightly, just to get away as soon as possible, not wanting to see the simpletons begin to drool at the mere sight of her. After she disappeared behind the door, the male population groaned slightly in disappointment, not having anything to ogle at.
"Finally, the champion for Hogwarts!" Dumbledore said
For the final time, the schools turned their attention to the Goblet, is it fired out the third and final piece of parchment. Dumbledore opened it and looked to the crowd with a gentle smile.
"And the Hogwarts champion is…Cedric Diggory!" He said
On the Hufflepuff table, a fairly handsome young man was met with applause as he got to his feet and made his way down to the front of the Great Hall. Shaking hands with Dumbledore, Cedric took the parchment and made his way through the door, where the other two champions went through moments earlier. With a smile, Dumbledore turned his attention back to the rest of the students.
"Now, that we have our champions" Dumbledore said "I hope…"
Dumbledore found himself being interrupted by the sound of metal rattling. Turning around Dumbledore, and everyone else in the Great Hall, watched as the Goblet of Fire shook violently, the flames getting larger and hotter. After a few seconds, a fourth piece of parchment was thrown viscously out of the flames. This parchment was more burnt then the rest and fluttered around more violently then the previous one, which had gently glided down with elegant grace. Dumbledore plucked the parchment from the air, wincing slightly at how hot the paper felt. Opening it up, his eyes widened when he saw the name written down.
"Harry Potter" Dumbledore said softly, though his voice echoed across the Great Hall due to the silence
Everyone gasped and whispered to one another. Everyone knew the story of the Potters and how Harry Potter was declared dead having disappeared that night. The students began questioning why his name was placed in the Goblet, though many considered this was a sick prank made by distasteful individual.
"Harry Potter" Dumbledore said louder, though he spoke to no one in particular
"Whoever is responsible for this will find themselves in detention for the rest of the year!" McGonagall stood up from her seat "What happened that night was a tragedy…doing this for a cheap prank is horrible, more than horrible in fact…it's sickening, the one responsible should be ashamed of themselves!"
"Minerva…" Dumbledore said in a soothing voice to try and calm the Head of Gryffindor down "Can you please contact Sirius, I need to have a word with him about this"
…
"I can't believe it" Sirius said, as he paced back and forth in Dumbledore's office "You're sure?"
After sending the rest of the students away and letting the other judges explained the Tournaments rules to the champions, Dumbledore entered his office, awaiting for Sirius to appear. Unsurprisingly, the man arrived soon after. He must have immediatley made his way over, as soon as the words 'Harry Potter' left McGonagall's lips. Dumbledore had taken a moment to explain to Sirius what had happened regarding the Goblet of Fire. Hearing that a piece of parchment with Harry's name written on it, filled the man with shock, as well as a glint of hope.
"Of course I'm sure Sirius" Dumbledore replied, dryly "I don't recognise the handwriting, though I could tell that the name on it, was indeed, Harry Potter"
"So he must be out there!" Sirius said, the hope in his eyes gleaming "It's known that entering the TriWizard Tournament place a magical binding contract on the champions that are selected…if Harry's name came out, then he must be alive…He's out there, somewhere!"
"I know that Sirius" Dumbledore said, a sigh escaping his lips "What worries me is the reason why, as I doubt Harry had someone place his name in the Goblet, let alone do it himself"
"You think He is involved don't you?" Sirius asked, as he stopped pacing and turned to fully face the ancient Headmaster
"Yes I do" Dumbledore sighed once more, having told Sirius that Voldemort was in fact still alive, though not the whole truth "I fear Voldemort wants to finish what he started at the Potter's all those years ago…if he had someone place Harry's name in the Goblet, then he must know that Harry is still alive and, knowing he wouldn't be at Hogwarts, had Harry's name placed in the Goblet, in hopes of drawing the boy out in the open…to ignore his place in the Tournament would mean his magic will be stripped away from him…the First Task isn't happening until next month, which gives us plenty of time to find him"
"Wherever he is, he won't be at the Dursleys, Lily said she would fight the devil himself before she allowed them to raise her son, if anything happened to her and James" Sirius replied, using the same words she had used when writing down those legally next in line to raise Harry
"You have a lot of old boxes of James and Lilies things, do you not?" Dumbledore asked "Perhaps there is something in there that could give us some clues"
"I've looked in there multiple times" Sirius gave Dumbledore a small glare "Believe me, if I found anything, I would've told you as soon as I did!"
"I know, Sirius, but another search can't hurt" Dumbledore replied, calmly "If we can find anything…a photograph, a journal, or a letter, that might give us a clue as to where Harry could've gone and who could've taken him, then we have a chance to find him and bring him home"
…
Overseas, there was a chill in the air, as the full moon hung in the night sky, drenching the city below in a cold, blinding light and hiding the streets ,unfortunate enough to be behind buildings, in dark shadows. A figure, wearing a red and black tunic with a long, black, hooded cape and mask ran along the top of the buildings, panting slightly from how long he had been running for, as he jumped from rooftop to rooftop, before finding what he was looking for. Jumping down onto the roof of another building, he looked up to the ledge, where another figure stood. This figure was wearing hooded black robes that completely covered its body, making them difficult to see in the shadows. The figure seemed to sense his presence, as it slowly turned around, where the bright emerald green of his eyes illuminated from the darkness of its hood.
"My, my, little bird, why the rush?" The figure asked, mockingly
"My name is Robin, Raven!" Robin growled and, even though he couldn't see from the darkness, he could feel the smile creeping along Ravens lips
"I know" Raven said, in a mockingly sweet voice "Listen, it's been fun talking, but I have to fly, see you around little bird"
Holding their arms out wide, Raven jumped off the ledge of the building and fell down. Robin quickly rushed to the ledge and peered over, to see nothing but an empty street. No one in sight. Not even a stray cat running along the road, nor an old newspaper blowing across the street from the wind. He slammed his fist against the stonework of the building, ignoring the pain that shot through his hand and wrist.
He hated it when Raven did that.
…
Three streets away, a figure appeared out of the darkness from a narrow alleyway. Raven couldn't help but laugh to himself. Robin may be quick and agile, but he wasn't the brightest. Sometimes he wondered why he went by Robin anyway. It wasn't really a name that brought fear into anyone. Now, Raven wasn't saying his name did the same, but Raven's mentor thought it was fitting. His black hair was similar to the colour of a ravens feathers and, ravens have been symbols for dark omens, death and 'the dark side'. His mentor named him Raven from day one and it was a name he chose to live by. Peering out from the alleyway, he made sure the area was safe and empty, before continuing on his way. It was getting darker by the minute and, no doubt, the big bat would be sure to come out of his hidey hole any second.
As he made his way back home, Raven thought about his life up to this point. How it all started. The day his Auntie Harley took him into her care. He may go by Raven on the streets of Gotham, but his real name was Harry Potter. His Auntie Harley told him about his parents and how they were a part of a Magical world hidden away from society. It intrigued him, though Harry had no intentions of exploring the secret Magical world. According to Auntie Harley a wizard had killed both of his parents, so he was staying put where he was. It was also the reason why he adopted her last name, and preferred to go by Harry Quinn. He didn't think anyone from the secret Magical world would come looking for him, he just preferred Harry Quinn, over Harry Potter. Besides, he liked it in Gotham. Auntie Harley treated him well and so did Mr J. Mr J may have been insane, but he was fair with Harry. Strict, but fair. Mr J also taught him everything he knew. Oh yes, Raven was staying put in Gotham.
And nothing was going to change that!
…
And that is the first chapter done. What did you guys think?
I wanted to do something different, which is why this story takes place during the Goblet of Fire. After a good amount of stories starting at Philosophers Stone and rewriting the same sequences over and over, it gets a little stale, so I figured this would be a nice change of pace. It will be a short while until Harry gets to Hogwarts and learns about being in the TriWizard Tournament. The first couple of chapters will involve searching for Harry and we'll get to see more DC characters make appearances. I have a few in mind, that could be fun to right. Something tells me the Riddler would make for an interesting edition, but we'll see.
Now, you may have noticed the pairing listed in this story is Harry and the Carrow Twins, Flora and Hestia. I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do a pairing I haven't done yet and I wanted Harry to be paired with someone more obscure and it seems a lot of people forget about Flora and Hestia. Admittedly, I was one of them. Because I don't remember much about their canon counterparts, I'm just going to read how other authors have written the twin sisters and just base my characterisation on what I find. I've also wanted to do a story where Harry gets with more then one person, so instead of one twin, he'll be with both.
Anyway, that is all for now. I hope you enjoyed, if you have a story request feel free to PM me and I will see you next time, in whatever story we meet again in.
