Crystal was at the listening post, just a normal shift like any other. She did miss the old days, when she and her big sister Medusa lived in the palace, when her pet Lockjaw was the best treated 2,000 pound dog on the Moon. Still, when Crystal heard the stories about how things were in the caste system, she knew that maybe Maximus had been in the right to overthrow Black Bolt. Crystal and her family had been "re-educated" no life of privilege for the former ruling class. Crystal was now at the listening post, looking for any signs of life from Galactus or any other life from beyond the stars. Like many Attilan citizens Crystal sometimes speculated that Galactus was a myth, a common enemy to help inhumans and humans work together during their reconstruction. Like the others who speculated this, Crystal was wrong. On this day, Crystal heard a message, it was one of distress, and it warned of a great evil named Galactus.

President Kelly had not been able to officially solidify Maximus as an ally against Galactus, not without congressional approval. But communications had been established, and they spoke when necessary. So when Attilan contacted NASA, and said that they needed to speak with president Kelly, Kelly immediately took this call.

Kelly: I take it this is important Maximus.
Maximus: It is indeed. Attilan satellites have received a warning about Galactus.
Kelly: A warning? Is Galactus actually giving us advance warning?
Maximus: Not exactly. The message was sent by refugees, the few survivors of the destroyed worlds. Have you ever heard of the Kree and Skrull empires?
Kelly: Can't say that I have.
Maximus: They were once the most powerful empires in the galaxy, and they were often at war with each other. The Galactus came, and these empires were so weakened that neither could put up much of a fight against him. At that point the Kree and the Skrull made peace. There was nothing left to fight over, and very few of them left to fight. They have since been traveling the galaxy, saving what refugees they could from destroyed worlds, and working together to someday find a way to destroy Galactus and find a planet to safely resettle. The Shi'ar, Askard, Xander, all wiped out by Galactus. I do not wish for Attilan to be listed among them.
Kelly: Or Earth for that matter.
Maximus: Than you agree that we must work with these refugees, these "Guardians of the Galaxy" as they call themselves.
Kelly: Agreed. But all of these other races have yet to find a way to destroy Galactus.
Maximus: I don't know if it's even possible, but if our scientists begin working immediately, maybe there's hope.
Kelly: How much time do we have?
Maximus: According to their best guess, according to your calendar, about one month.
