A/N While what Joyce has become doesn't appear in the Grimm wiki it does fit into the 'pureblood' category of Wesen, those perceived as gods at one time.

Ammit - Crocodile Wesen worshiped in Egypt.

Bastet - Cat or possibly Lion type of Wesen worshipped in Egypt.

Hippos Athantos - Horse like Wesen capable of breathing fire, possibly functionally immortal and noted in stories featuring Greek gods as working for the gods.

Ichor Thanatos - Hydra, multi headed, when one was cut off, two grew in its place. Could only die if the main head was also cut off.

Khepri - Scarab or Dung Beetle Wesen, worshipped in Egypt.

Maahes - Lion type of Wesen, worshipped in Egypt, very hard to kill because its pelt was impenetrable to bladed weapons.

Tefnut - Different type of Lion Wesen, worshipped in Egypt.

Bhari Kadama - Elephant Wesen native to India, worshipped as Ganesh by Hindi.

Jambavan - My addition inspired by Jambavan, 'king of the bears' god in India. His daughter is known as Jambavati, which will be the female version in my story. Behavior described for the Wesen part of Joyce will be taken from known bear species.

Cupitas - Not a cute, chubby baby. They use their spit to make a potion that makes people think they're in love. Intelligent, often vengeful and use their love potion to create problems.

Assorted protective or vengeance spirits are also associated with Wesen or have been dealt with by Grimm.

"How do we know this worked?" Buffy asked.

"My cue." Cordelia said. "There are two types of woge, an involuntary woge and a voluntary one. Both can be seen by a Grimm, only the voluntary one can be seen by everyone else. They can both be triggered by emotions, so getting and keeping control over your emotions is vital to keep you from exposing yourself, which violates Wesen law. It's why Amy supplied me with a glamour when we were looking for the possessed kids. It's a loophole that kept me from violating the law. A violation like that is usually handled by the Wesen Council or their representatives. Whether it's voluntary or not, a woge is mildly painful, but it's necessary to spend time woged because, as Uncle Rory explained back during that possession nightmare, we're in balance. That means spending time in both our forms. Tika has to woge to eat, for instance, but because of how both she and others react to her other face, she does it in private. I only do it around three people, my father, Lupe, our housekeeper and Xander. Being Wesen is as much a secret as being a Slayer is and until the world is ready to know about us, has to stay that way."

"How do we trigger the voluntary woge?" Joyce asked.

"Let's start with an involuntary one, that will give you the feel of it." Cordelia said.

"My cue." Xander stepped forward and looked into Buffy's eyes, startled, she drew back. A horn appeared on her forehead, less than a foot long, thicker at the base and narrowing to a point. Her nostrils elongated and her jaw did as well, her ears tapered up to slightly round points, the fingers of her hands merged together becoming a split hoof.

"Wow, she doesn't look like the unicorns in a story, but she does kind of look like a horse with a horn." Jesse commented.

"The horn is a bone, like the Narwahl whale's." Rory informed them. "In a unicorn, the males use them to spar and both males and females use them for defense. Unicorn's are omnivores, meaning they can eat meat if they want to. An Abath can too and the horn, being bone, works just like wood does on a vampire. Some Abaths developed a taste for humans, like a lot of Wesen did at one time, but learned to curb that when the laws were established."

"Did Xander scare you, Buffy?" Faith asked.

"No, I just wasn't expecting to see something in his eyes. I mean, I knew he could do that, I just hadn't made the jump that I would see something."

"What did you see?" Joyce asked, curious.

"A literal horse faced me with a horn sticking out of my forehead."

"What did you feel?" Xander asked.

Buffy frowned thoughtfully as she thought over her experience and then smiled. "Comfortable familiarity. I think that best describes it. Like an old quilt on a rainy day, something warm and safe."

"Good, I don't want you to ever be afraid of me, Buffy."

"I haven't grown up with knowledge of Grimms and what the bad ones did, Xan. You haven't done anything that scares me and this was no different."

"Okay, than, concentrate on the physical feeling you had when you woge Buffy, and use that to control the woge." Cordelia instructed. Buffy did as she instructed and then felt herself changing again.

"Hey, I did it!"

"With time, like Oz and his Lycanthropy, you'll soon have control." Rory assured her. "And now for you, Joyce. The bear analog of the kind of Wesen that you've become was different from other bears. They're all round bodied and Bear Wesen tend to be as well. A Jambavan or Jambavati, as the female are known as, were more narrow bodied, but still extremely strong, with a narrow, elongated snout. The same with the Wesen version. They were also a tall bear on their hind legs and so were the Wesen. Easily around six and half feet. They were omnivores and insectivores, meaning plants, meat and insects in their diet. Very protective and helpful in stories."

"Which sounds just like you, Mom."
