You'd really think that the bad guys would have learned not to run. It never worked, well unless they had a getaway car but if they didn't it never worked.
Deeks was chasing after their runner, Kensi having split from him in an attempt to head their guy off. Which, now that he thought about it, should be happening any time soon.
"Freeze, Federal Agent!"
Yep, there she was in all her terrifyingly hot glory. He was about to take the opportunity to come to a halt and catch his breath (their suspect was a long-distance runner of all things) when their guy went off script. Someone forgot to tell him that he was meant to get caught when a federal agent appeared in front of you. Too bad for him, his partner was a verifiable ninja. A blur of limbs later, in which Deeks saw the guy rise then fall like a beach ball, the guy was on the ground with Kensi glaring over him with her face all flushed. It was a good look for her.
"You know what, that was a bad idea," Deeks informed the guy as he crouched over him and fumbled for his zip ties.
The man groaned pathetically; his eyes scrunched up. His name was Gables, John Richard Gables. Went by 'Jor' allegedly. Right.
"Yep," Deeks said with a resolute nod. "Bad idea." He looked up at his partner and asked, "You want to do the honours?"
Kensi shook her head quickly, "If I go anywhere near him, I'll rip his arms off."
Gables whimpered at that statement. Wimp. Honestly, Kensi couldn't actually rip his arms off. And, it was his own fault. He did make inappropriate and highly suggestive remarks to her as they had approached him. Heck, the guy should count himself lucky that the red mist hadn't descended over her eyes.
"Yeah, that's not a good idea. Hetty said to stop doing that," Deeks replied as he cuffed the guy and heaved them both up into a standing position. "Up you go."
"This is assault," Gables whined.
"Yeah, no," Deeks told him as he pushed him forwards. "Assault is what you did to her," he motioned to Kensi. "Remember the whole part where you assaulted a federal agent and took off?"
Gables just whined incomprehensively. Great, he was going to be one of those suspects. Deeks was so not in the mood for this.
Trying not to engage the man any further, Deeks looked around them and groaned.
"How far away is our car?" he asked, giving their surroundings a look that was hopeful for it just appearing in front of them.
"Six blocks," Kensi judged, estimating in a quick glance down the road.
"You really are a runner," Deeks said accusingly to Gables.
Thankfully, the man kept his mouth shut. Looks like he did have some sense of self-preservation after all.
"Right, let's go," Deeks decided, giving Gables a none to gentle push in the right direction.
"No funny business," Kensi instructed, walking to his right. She looked back at Deeks, "You good?"
"Yep."
"I'll run ahead and try and meet you halfway with the car," she suggested.
Before Deeks could whole-heartedly agree with that idea Callen and Sam's car came to a screeching halt next to them. They'd had to deal with their own pair of guys elsewhere. Looks like they got done first. Again.
The two men stepped out of the car with amused looks on their faces.
Callen gave their dishevelled suspect a knowing look and turned to Deeks, "Kensi judo flip?"
Deeks nodded, "Kensi judo flip."
Kensi tried to give the two of them an outraged look but failed. Instead, she sighed heavily.
"Deeks could have been the one to do that," she said with a pout.
All three guys gave her varying looks of disbelief.
"He could have," Kensi insisted.
"I'm right here, you know," Gables complained.
Everyone ignored him except for a quick glare from Sam. Gables actually shrank back into Deeks at that look.
"Really, Kens?" Deeks asked.
"Yes, really!"
"Deeks doesn't judo flip people," said Sam.
Deeks nodded at that. Exactly! Judo flipping was Kensi's fort. He was more of a 'deck them in the jaw and watch them fall like a sack of bricks' kind of guy.
"He prefers getting them in the jaw," Callen added, unwittingly echoing what Deeks was thinking.
Kensi made an exasperated noise and gave all three men a disgusted look. They just grinned at her and rolled her eyes. She couldn't deny it. Judo-flipping people was something see did incredibly often.
"It works!" Kensi told them defensively.
"Gables here can attest to that," Deeks said cheerfully, slapping the man on the back.
For some reason, Gables looked like he didn't really appreciate that statement.
