Evanglion: You Shall (not) Win This Time

Episode 20: Relaxation (is) Power/Altered (episode) 10 Quadrology PT. 4

The day after the Knights of Ryujin's intensive training within the Hyperbolic Time Chamber was in full swing once the warriors exited, and many sought out to seize the day. One such individual was the Sakura Suzuhara operating with the Knights of Ryujin. After her time in the chamber, she had an urge to have some fun, but she didn't exactly want to do it on her own. Toji was off with most of the other boys on the team testing out the results of their training, Rei III was off having space pirate adventures with her sisters, which left not a lot of choices on who to hang out with. She figured that maybe she could see if any of the girl members of the team who were still here wanted to do something together. Her first choice was to see if Mana was up for something, but she was spending that day with Shinji. She also considered the maid trio, but figured they'd want some alone time for a bit. That mainly left Jessie and Ami, who she tried PM-ing with through the group's private Discord server. Jessie responds saying that she had nothing planned for the day, and was willing to help plan something for the rest of the girls later in the week. Now wanting to kill some time beforehand, the younger Suzuhara decided to test out something she had bought for herself some time ago: a replica of Sonic the Hedgehog's Extreme Gear hoverboard from Sonic Riders Zero Gravity.

With a kick to propel herself, Sakura started cruising on her board, adding a little extra speed every now and again until something catches her eye on a nearby announcement board: an open Extreme Gear road race with a 10,000 credit grand prize. Thinking this would be a way to kill an afternoon and possibly make a quick buck, the younger Suzuhara makes her way to the location of the race's entry station to fill out her registration while scoping out her competition: Warper variants of characters along the likes of Leo from Yugioh 5Ds, Brody from Total Drama presents the Ridonculous Race, Touhou's Marisa Kirisame, the Disney's Treasure Planet incarnation of Jim Hawkins, and even the Storm the Albatross of the Babylon Rouges from the very games of the franchise the technology being used to race originated from.

A few minutes after registration, and everyone was off to the races with Storm taking the lead early on and Sakura holding the middle ground. The first major turn comes with the younger Suzuhara and the sticky fingered witch from Gensokyo timing their drifts perfectly in order to round out the top 3 with the Babylon Rouge still holding a firm lead. The racers continued on through the next three turns with similar results and only minor shifts in placing until the space fairing young adventurer and the wielder of the Crimson Dragon's heart manage to time their drifts well enough to weasel their way into 2nd and 4th respectively with Sakura in 3rd and Marisa in 5th.

Storm continued his dominance of the race taking an additional four turns of the course perfectly until he accidentally overshot his drift, allowing for Jim to take the lead going into the home stretch when all of a sudden, a massive burst of light caused all of the racers to emergency stop as an entity emerged from the pillar: a being that one would compare to a very muscular Michael Rodent.

"What's the big idea, rat boy?" went the blonde magic user before adding "Can't you see we're in the middle of a race here?"

"Foolish mortals" went the man mouse in a tone that mimicked that of what one would expect of divinity before adding "This universe has been chosen to serve as a proving ground for my training. Ha ha. Should any of you dare to oppose me, you shall meet your doom by my hand. Ha ha."

Of the two racers who actually also had combat training, Ms. Kirisame was the one willing to call the bluff of this new entity by aiming her Master Spark talisman towards her opponent and firing off a stream of danmaku styled magic bullets, only for the rodent man to dodge every shot and respond to this act of aggression with "So, you're the first to die. Ha ha."

The unknown invader then returns fire towards the sticky fingered witch who effectively dodges the attack while the younger Suzuhara joins the battle by instantly going into a 3x Kaio Ken and summoning her Keyblade. The rodent man manages to evade Sakura's attacks, but began to show the signs of not being able to keep up for long as the young knight becomes quick to recognize this, amping up her power modifier to 5x and landing a successful series of vicious blows, sending the unknown attacker down to the ground as the Gensokyo broom rider unleashes her signature attack: "Love Sign: Master Spark" in an attempt to finish the job. When the dust cleared, the mysterious mouse vanished, leaving only a message stating "You may have won today, but I shall return. Ha ha. And when I do, there will be Hell to pay for all of you. Ha ha."

Marisa then turned to Sakura who had reverted back to her base form and went "Nice moves, kid. Put 'em towards your Danmaku skills, and you'd fit right in where I come from." as the younger Suzuhara replies "Thanks, but I believe we have a race to finish. That is if you're down."

The witch's answer: "Bring it on, short stuff."

Marisa and Storm did wind up winning the restarted race in a tie with Sakura earning a respectable 3rd, but at least she made some new companions in the racing scene. Upon returning to her hotel room and lying down on her bed, the youngest member of the Knights opted to check her phone in case anything came up during the race, revealing a text from Jessie reading "I manage to get the other women on the team to settle on a special group day tomorrow. Are you up for it?"

"Sure. Can't wait." responded Sakura before crashing for a power nap before meeting the others for dinner. That night while everyone was sitting down for a nice hot evening meal, the girls had all gathered at a side of the table to discuss their plans for the following day and how the planned activities would be scheduled: a Ki powered flight around the world to sample what this world had to offer outside of the resort scene. An event that would prove to be nothing short of a blast.

Even when trying to just enjoy a simple vacation to escape the hustle and bustle hellscape of Warper affairs, it seemed like the level 10 leader of the Knights of Ryujin just couldn't get away from any of it. It all started the day after the team's time in the confines of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with the Metsu Sol Emerald holder going for a walk in order to get a much needed breath of fresh air, simply enjoying some highly desired peace and quiet…until one of the people he least wanted to hear from again: Josho Blackthorn.

"Enjoying your vacation, Desmond?", questioned the leader of the Amoral Aces with the Tokyo 3 vigilante bluntly answering, "I was until you called. What do you want?" The answer: "I have a job for you." Bishops responded to this offer with the remark of "You know, Josho, I am not your errand boy to do your little jobs. Find someone else to do your dirty work." Josho replied with a wry grin, "Oh, come now, it pays well. And you'll make a serious benefit to up your organization's profits and notoriety. You're set to gain the most from this operation." The leader of the Knights of Ryujin cautiously responded, "Let's say I'm interested. What is it?" The Amoral Ace head explains the situation of Bishops taking control of a shell company of his: an entertainment medium by the name of Dueling Dices specializing with hotel/casino operations with the first of the line being set to open in the universe of Earth Dimension MHA-V-2406 under the name of the Knight's Roundtable. Bishops knew something was up. With the Amoral Aces and especially their leader, something was always up. "There's a catch. You said I'll net most of the profits, but you're getting something out of it." sternly replied Bishops with the renegade Blackthorn confidently answering "Yes, it's going to be a bit of a front. The business is going to be legit, and you'll have the legal profits. I seek to use the place to offload stuff from raids on nearby universes. The company ruling the city is only going to think I'm only doing in part with the new arena I said was a joint venture with them." Then Joshinari said something that somewhat struck a nerve:

"But I'm no putz, and there's a reason you'll help me: a common enemy. I don't think you want to have Rendo Nexus on your behind, especially that an enemy of yours is among their ranks. Haven't you noticed he's been quiet?"It was true that Gendo had been quiet, seemingly not even attempting to send someone to attack Tokyo 3 in his absence after the covert heist on his territory not too long ago. This of course left Bishops to take the idea that he was involved with Rendo Nexus to heart, not like a Gendo wouldn't want any source of power they could get to complete their goals. While pensive, he managed to work up a glare and ask "What are the terms? Can I handle employment for the company?" with the leader of the Hidden Ghetto Village answering "I have a small crew within the company managing the handling of what will be raided, a few deep cover Ghetto ANBU which will function as the 'Teitary Security', and we're each going to have one person running the company to keep things fair. I have my pick in there already and you should get yours to make a two boss operation."

When the level 10 of Tokyo 3 asked his more malicious counterpart who he had in his corner running the operation, Josho answered with "Before that, I should introduce you to a third party: Mathias "Mizuna" Zane. He's the new head of the Charlotte family. His family agreed to run the casino/hotel after I helped keep RN off their asses, he'll run the place as our third party." before answering the situation about 'his guy': a version of Sayaka Kanamori from the series "Keep Your Hands Off, Eizokun" who's struggling animation studio Josho had offered a sizeable "donation" to their finances in exchange for her services in running casino operations, having a mirthful laugh before telling Bishops the price he paid: a pair so solid Mincraftian diamond blocks and teaching the crew how to use the Shadow Clone Jutsu in order to ease their workload. Now Josho had the Easy Breezy animation studio producing an animated adaptation of "Pokemon: Ecchi Version" for him with the first episode set to premiere at both the casino and the arena that the city knew that he was backing.

"Regardless, they are waiting for you in Earth Dimension KCC-209, one of the universes that I have businesses on. The 'casino' itself has been already assembled and stored to be set up on the planet. All you need to do is take over the company, get 'your guy' in there, and send them off on their way."

Bishops rolled his eyes and responded with the question of "And what exactly are you stealing and storing at the casino?" with the leader of the Amoral Aces answering "For your safety and for you to keep as 'innocent' as possible, it's better you don't know the dealings." with a wide grin before adding "As an aside, I'll gladly sell you some of it at half price. So do we have a deal?"

Bishops agrees that the two did have a deal, but not without questioning the odds of Josho stabbing him in the back in the long run as the Blackthorn sternly responds with "Like you backstabbed me earlier with that fake emerald? It's simple, RN is a problem to the multiverse alongside the Chris-Chan cult. I may be a 'villain', but do you see me actively threatening the multiverse? No.", causing the Angel slayer to neutrally raise his eyebrows before Josho added "Desmond, I have a daughter to raise, and I don't need RN or the cult making a threat for her. Plus, you have my word, and a Blackthorn doesn't exactly go back on their word."

Bishops was still cautious, but even he knew that the concept of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend, at least for now" was blatantly being shown to him in this situation, and if he wanted to expand his operations once the war with the Angels was over, he would need the means to bankroll it, and this deal would be a perfect way to nip that particular problem in the bud before it really became a thorn in his side. Assured, the leader of the Knights of Ryujin answered "Fine, we have a deal. But I'll be keeping my eye on you." with Josho replying with "Do as you wish. Enjoy your vacation." and ending the call.

So good news, Bishops was now sitting on an effective revenue stream, bad news, he needed to find someone who could run it in his stead real quick as he considered all the members of his team under "all hands on deck" protocols. He needed to either hire someone or have a miracle come to him real ASAP, or things were gonna most likely get ugly…..well, uglier.

Still in his train of thought, the leader of the Knights of Ryujin's attempts to bring everything together were partially interrupted by another call, this time from someone who he had thought wouldn't be in touch for at least some time: one Maylene Shadows of the Fusion Force.

"Bet you weren't expecting to hear from me again, huh?"

The level 10 Warper answers "And what do I owe for the honor of this call?" with the CN Zen Kuro resident answering "Yeah, about that. I'mma need you to find a secure place to meet up. Turns out there was a mix up during one of the emerald heists a couple days ago."

This of course caused the vacationing leader to go "Oh what fresh hell have we unearthed now?" with the answer being "Look, just find a place for us to meet and I'll explain everything. Trust me, this is something you'll want to hear."

Bishops spent the next five minutes scouting out a secure meeting place before ultimately finding Kensuke's old military camp hideout and sending the message to Maylene, who was quick to arrive along with some unintended company: a version of one Leopold "Butters" Stotch from South Park, a version of Garnet from Steven Universe, and another individual that Bishops didn't recognize.

"So who are the other two?" asked Bishops with Maylene responding "guy on the left is the Butters that was working for your Gendo for a while, but I'm sure you saw what happened that made him quit, guy on the right is Saki Shadows, my dad. And I'm sure you recognize the Garnet from what was the Crystal Squadron, now Jade Company." with Garnet simply adding "Nice to finally get in contact with you face to face."

The level 10 of the group then asks what was so important that it required his immediate presence with Maylene taking something out of a capsule: another Metsu Sol Emerald.

"Hold up." went the leader of the Knights of Ryujin before adding "How is that even possible? We nabbed the last of 'em during our little treasure hunt. How is there an eighth one?" with the forsaken South Park resident answering "Well there's the problem. Turns out the one you nabbed from my old boss was a fake. I didn't even know how he even knew how to make it."

Deep within, Bishops could only shout "Of course that bastard would find a way to try and fuck me over!", but kept it to a thought while actually saying "Well if the one we found was a fake, where was he keeping the real one?" as Maylene answered "A secret compartment in his office. Butters here managed to get into it by claiming that he had an unfinished order from the time of his employment that he had gotten done to deliver."

Bishops had to admit that the kid knew how to pull a con, especially considering his background that the level 10 had researched after viewing the whole "mayoral office smackdown" after their emerald hunt had concluded. Turns out the kid came from a South Park universe that was in a constant state of war until it was ultimately destroyed. It all started with a joint assault from a combined army of time traveling otters, crab people and radicalized hippies under the command of "Mr. Mouse". After that, it was Black Friday shoppers mind controlled to believe every day was Black Friday, and after that was an army of frat brothers who militarized PC culture with the technical leader somewhat defecting when an army of sentient advertisements and internet trolls gone too far entered the fray. It all came to a head during the events of a conflict known as "the Tegridy Wars". Butters had quickly become a master weaponsmith and an up and coming tactician in the wake of the first war while his parents had consistently done something at least once per conflict that would have jeopardized the entire war effort. The breaking point came when they conspired to murder their own flesh and blood during an operation after word had gotten out that he was most likely going to be promoted to brigader general. The operation was a simple one, but an important one: deliver a special dark matter shield prototype to an isolated outpost for testing in hopes that it could be implemented into the standard military equipment in their ongoing battle against an amalgam of past enemy factions led by that universe's Scott Tennorman. The initial test was going well until the base came under attack by a squad of crab people and time otters who had managed to slay most of the personnel on base with the exception of the Stotches, including Butters. Eventually it came to light that the attack was indeed staged from within, and when Butters' dna donors attempted to make their son the scapegoat, they inadvertently outed themselves as the traitors. But before they could be sentenced to execution, there was an explosion as when the Tennorman army tried to get the shield reversed engineered, they had accidentally struck a major containment structure component, and triggered an explosion that had essentially created a miniature black hole that was growing by the hour. The entirety of the planet knew that this would basically be the end, and the majority of the South Park army had rushed to evacuate the planet to a possible safe haven on the planet Marklar with the rest providing a distraction to the remaining enemy forces that decided "if we're going down, we're taking these bastards with us" and launched one final assault in an attempt to make sure that no one survives. The evacuation was technically a success, but their victory was short lived as it would soon be revealed that the black hole was still growing and would eventually reach Marklar within a matter of days. Desperate to find a way out of their predicament, the surviving members of the South Park military had somehow managed to find a dimensional rift that allowed them to access the multiverse and revealed the Warper's Secret to all of them. Eventually everyone went their separate ways with Stan and Kyle joining up with a version of S.H.I.E.L.D, Kenny making a fortune in the exotic dancer industry, Cartman being gunned down after pissing off the wrong version of the Hellsing Foundation, Tweak, Craig and most of the other kids getting jobs elsewhere and Butters eventually making his way to Gendo and later Jade Company. As for the other Stotches, Linda was admitted into an insane asylum while trying to blow up the Prime South Park Earth, and we all know what happened to her husband.

Bishops was quick to return to the more important topic and asked "Well if that son of a bitch knows how to make fakes, what do we do about it now?" with Garnet answering "For now, nothing. My Future Vision abilities have been degrading ever since Ryker came into our lives, but I can assure you that there will come a day where his whole operation comes crashing down."

At the very least, the leader of the Knights of Ryujin could take solace knowing that Gendo would eventually get fucked over, even if he didn't dare to ask at the hands of who, but before he could even ask if there was anything else to discuss, things got hot real quick….metaphorically and literally speaking as a stream of flames shot at the gathered Warpers who had managed to escape in the nick of time. As each of the targets readied their weapons and powers, the culprit emerged in the form of a lava laden kaijin sporting molten rock armor.

"Lilim filth, you have slain my master Sandalphon, Angel of the Embryo before they could carry out their divine work. And for this, you shall pay with your life." spoke the creature as Bishops could only mentally go "These things can universe hop?!" before dodging another stream of molten fire and formulating a battle plan with the others.

"Okay, pretty sure that just punching and kicking the thing will just melt our bodies to the bone, so resort to energy attacks and ranged weapons if you have them."

Butters had opted to provide a distraction with handgun fire while Bishops and the Shadows family charged up a tri front Kamehameha Wave before firing off a burst that was more than enough to finish off the creature after a temporary moment of worry when it was able to deflect one of the beams to a unknowing target…who just so happened to already have a target on their back. Bishops wasn't even going to question how they managed to win that fast, he already knew the answer considering that there was the factor of special gemstones that greatly amplified the power of not just him but another combatant in his corner. What he was going to question was how the herald had managed to follow him all the way here, but that could wait.

With pleasantries exchanged, Bishops and the Zen Kuro party parted ways as the Knights of Ryujin leader was left to think "Well that's one problem I didn't know I had out of the way. Now back to business. What the hell am I gonna do about that casino?"

It was as if the multiverse wanted a speedy resolution to the predicament of our not so always lucky level 10 as out from the sky came crashing down the pinnacle of easy fixes: a recurring gag making its return.

"Hello." went everyone's favorite wall eyed ditzy mail delivering meme horse before adding "Package for Desmond Bishops." with the high ranking Warper asking for her to get off of him so he could sign for said delivery. With firm belief that he needed to lie down for a few moments, Bishops promptly returned to his hotel room to grab a quick power nap and maybe open the package later. That lasted for all of a half hour before curiosity finally got the better of him as he decided to see what he had gotten now. All there was was a capsule and a note:

"This 'Unitrix' is worth four hundred grand, so make good use of her. Her name is Johanna.

Kenji Blackthorn"

Internally Bishops was going "Oh goody, another girl sent by a Blackthorn. I wonder how many Mega Seeds I'mma have to farm to finance outfits for her." before activating the capsule which turned into a small box containing a canister like device. Within mere seconds, the canister glowed in a flashing light that when subsided, finally revealed what seemingly looked like an older version of Asuka.

Bishops should've been surprised, but given his history with mystery packages from Blackthorn family members, he wasn't at the level he was when Ami first came into his life. All he could do was pinch the bridge of his nose and go "Yup, should've saw this coming." before the Asuka spoke.

"I am Johanna, Unitrix unit 0-X1 assigned to Reality Warper Desmond Bishops. What are your orders, sir?"

"Well for starters, go on ahead and take the sheet on the bed to cover yourself up in case someone walks in." went Bishops before getting a text from Maylene.

"I just sensed a Warper Energy signature activate from your area that I can't register to anyone on your team or mine. What the hell is going on there?"

The level 10 replies "I'm assuming you know of a Kenji Blackthorn, right?" with the Fusion Force operative answering "my group may or may not've worked with him. Why, he send you something?", earning a "In fact, he did. Know anything about something called a 'Unitrix'?" response to the new owner of the unit in question.

Maylene's answer: "Oh damn, he sent you something worth a serious payday. I got a lock on her signature, be there in like, 5 minutes."

True to the word of the Fusion Force agent, Maylene was at the door of Bishops' room in around five minutes to inspect the Knights of Ryujin leader's latest acquisition.

"Alright, by the looks of things, Kenji was able to upgrade the ability of copying the special traits of a biological lifeform for up to half an hour. If you want, I can modify that for a further timespan."

Bishops accepted the offer with Maylene using her watch to change into a Galvanic Mechamorph and covering the advanced gynoid akin to how the symbiotes of Marvel fame cover their hosts. The process took all of three minutes, but when it was finally completed, Maylene changed back to her normal form and stated "Alright, I managed to get the time limit on power absorption up to two hours along with the ability to store multiple powers at the same time. All in all, should you take her out on the field for assignments, she'll be pretty damn competent. I also tweaked her durability so she can take plenty more punches and dish 'em right back."

"Great." went Bishops before adding "Hopefully I won't have to call you for anything else for the rest of the week." as the Fusion Force operative teleported out of the room to leave our man of the hour with the newest addition to the team….only for him to realize he forgot to ask Maylene to see about making her a master of business. Realizing that he still had one problem, Bishops returned to mulling over his options until an idea came to mind. The Super Spiral quickly scrolls through his contact list and hits Shinji's number.

"You wouldn't happen to have that version of Cyclonis you drink with's number on hand, would you?" texted Bishops, earning a "Yeah, I got it. What do you need from ol' Larky?' from his apprentice.

"Because I'm looking at a big payday, and I need someone who's business savvy that isn't exactly on our team since we're still in an 'all hands on deck' situation until the Angels and Gendo are dealt with." answered Bishops with Shinji asking "Hol' up, how big a pay day we talking here?" before the level 10 answered "Big. Can you get her in contact with me or not?"

Shinji responded with "Okay okay, I'll see what I can do, just give me some time to try and set it up." before Bishops moved his priorities towards outfitting who basically became the newest member of the team. It took another two hours, but Bishops finally got a new message from Shinji:

"Good news, I managed to talk to Larky about this thing you're dealing with, and she's willing to talk to you about it. Meet her tomorrow at the Turbo Duel track on the outskirts of Tokyo 2, she'll score you guys a VIP booth so you can talk privately."

This earned the impact initiator of the two the response of "Awesome. Thanks for your help, kid." before Shinji somewhat jokingly replied "Yeah yeah, just remember this when it comes time to divy up the hauls."

Bishops could only smirk reading that response before closing his phone and getting in contact with Jessie to provide the needed paperwork while prepping his own explanation on why there was a nude older version of one of the main cast members in his room.

The day of the meeting arrives with Bishops being escorted by stadium staff to his and Lark's assigned booth where the former Cyclonian leader sat on the sofa waiting while watching the next Turbo Duel between a version of Chris Yukine from Symphogear and a version of Elise from Dead or Alive Extreme.

"I assume you wanna get to the brass tacks regarding why I asked you to meet with me, don't you, Ms. Lark." went Bishops with the Cyclonian Mangekyo Sharingan user responding "I know that you're looking at a big payday, but what exactly am I going to be getting myself into if I were to accept your little offer?"

The level 10 Warper answered "Bottom line, I need a manager to operate on my behalf for a new shell company operating a casino/resort combination. It's unfortunately a deal with the devil since I have to work alongside Josho Blackthorn, but you'll be managing the portion of the business that's on the up and up with two other individuals." before showing her data on the other two managers with Lark being a bit aback and going "He brought in a Sayaka Kanamor, he's clearly not fucking around this."

"Since when does a Blackthorn ever fuck around when there's a business to do?" answered Bishops before asking if the former Cyclonian ruler was up for the task with her answering "I successfully ran an entire empire along with multiple military campaigns that would've worked if not for the tenacity of a group of young Atmosians, how hard can running a gambling hall be?"

With that, the level 10 offered her a contract with a pay rate of 20% of his share of the cut which was signed right as the Symphogear using Turbo Duelist claimed victory with a last minute clutch power play. From there, it was a trip to Earth Dimension KCC-209 where Josho's representative along with the independent third party of Matias "Mizuna" Zane waiting for them within the confines of an office building overlooking a seemingly singed portion of pavement and sidewalk.

"Glad you could gather your representative on such short notice, Mr. Bishops." went the faction mediator before adding "Now then, I have the proper documents for both your part of the business and that of Mr. Blackthorn's with me, which he and Ms. Kanamori have already signed. I just need you two to go over it and give it the proper signatures, and we'll be in business."

It took all of five minutes for both Bishops and Lark to read through the contracts and make note of any and all loopholes that there might be that could be used against them and have everything signed with the managing Sayaka listedly going "Somewhat amusing that you'd bring in a former despot to represent you, isn't it?" with Bishops answering "The minute I heard a version of you was gonna be involved in this in exchange for studio funding, I had to bring in the big guns." before one Mr. Zane went "Alright, everything's in order. Now if you two will accompany me to ED-MHA V-2406, we can get the Knight's Roundtable open for business. And let me say congratulations on the full foundation of Dueling Dices."

Bishops returned to his hotel room shortly afterwards and crashed on the bed, hoping that nothing else would come up during the rest of the week so he can finally enjoy his vacation before receiving a text from Lark:

"Everything's all set up, Zane says to expect your first check to come in sometime in the next two weeks. And if you're ever in town, drinks are on me for your team."

Well at the very least, the leader of the Knights of Ryujin could take the problems of the last few weeks and take them as positives. He had acquired new allies, his revenue streams were going to become a lot more stable, and he had become just a bit stronger from everything that's gone down so far. Maybe he could finally relax for a bit and maybe get some stuff he's been wanting to do done with the time he had before returning to the warzone known as Tokyo 3.

(A Trio of Lovely Angels)

The soothing sounds of a barely if at all occupied beach filled the shared bedroom of the maid trio as Lyna looked out towards the now almost fully risen sun like she had been doing back in Tokyo 3, ready to start the day despite not being fully dressed for it yet. This week was acting like a godsend for the hardlight magic user. No having to be worried about the Angels, the Gourdians, whatever the hell Gendo was plotting next, none of it. Just her, the company of the women she loved, the seemingly second family she's made, and a near full week of being able to just enjoy life. Lyna's solitude was soon interrupted when Aria had awoken and wrapped her arms around her significant other's waist and went in for a kiss on the cheek.

"Figured I'd find you doing this." went the aquamancer of the trio as Lyna responded "You know how I roll." before returning her partner's romantic advances.

Aria then gazed towards the tranquil scene for a moment before going "This reminds me so much of back home in New Nevada, before any of this stuff came into our lives. You, me, Wynn before she had to go in for work at the boss' old place, it just takes me back, you know?" to which Lyna responded "Totally. Sometimes you wish that things were back to normal before we got roped into altering fate and preventing the apocalypse, but then you remember you can be in a relationship with both of the women you love without anyone batting an eye. Makes it just a little bit more worth it if you ask me."

"Obviously that….plus being able to do what we've learned so far doesn't hurt either" jokingly responded the aquamancer of the trio, earning a quick light giggle as the third member of their loving trio had emerged from the bed draping herself with the bed's sheet.

After getting ready for the day, the trio had sat down for breakfast with the rest of the team, minding their own business while discussing their plans for the day. The battle plan they decided on: first comes hitting up the beach before it got too crowded by other tourists, followed by a little financial irresponsibility around the various markets, meet up with the others for dinner, and round out the day with a walk on the sandy shores after most people had called it in for the day under the pale moonlight.

The beaches were indeed inhabited by a few parties that sought to score prime locations before the mid day rush would become a war for spaces to put down their towels, coolers and umbrellas, it was by no means overly crowded. Now clad in their best swimwear, the maid trio had taken to finding the ideal spot for their beach time relaxation, settling on a nice shaded area not too far from where they landed. Things were quiet until a random beach ball landed in their area.

The duo on retrieval duty: versions of Symphogear's Hibiki Tachibana and Miku Kohinata.

"Sorry about that." went the blonde Symphogear user before asking "Mind if we have our ball back?"

Aria grabs the ball and serves it back to the music powered magical girl duo before Hibiki offers the maid trio to play in one of their games against her, Miku and a version of Tsubasa Kazanari, to which they agree to play a couple rounds….where the trio proceeded to get metaphorically bodied by the Symphogear team 0-3, earning a "Good game." from a now very dazed Lyna. After a sound set of taking "the L", both trios decided that maybe it was for the best to just play in the water for a bit and talking about the universes they call home until Miku checked the time on her phone. The blonde user of Gungnir then answers when asked about it that their version of Chris Yukine was participating in the Turbo Duel scene at the local race track and how the trio had planned to cheer their friend on before Wynn wishes her three new friends and the fourth member of their group the best before having to part ways.

Just because the maid trio was thrashed on the beach volleyball court didn't mean that they couldn't continue their plans by visiting the shops and take the sting out, if only a small amount. First stop: a local diner to grab lunch before really going to town. The place was a relative unknown to tourists who didn't stray too far from the resort area, but the ones who dare venture speak nothing but good of it. The trio had just gotten their drinks and placed their orders when out of the corner of her eye, Aria catches sight of a pair of familiar figures along with one not so familiar.

"Hold up, aren't those two of our guys over on the other side of the place?" asked the hydromancer with Lyna responding "I think so, but I don't know who the third person they're talking to is."

"We should probably leave them be. If what they're talking about is something meant to benefit the group, they would probably tell us during dinner." responded the green haired member of the loving trio to the other two's inquiry as Aria and Lyna thought about it for a quick second before nodding in agreement. Now you'd think that the three would be able to enjoy a nice romantic outing, and you would be correct. No, the real hassle began afterwards starting with a local craft fair in the confines of that universe's Kentucky. The trio was just walking around the area, looking at the neat little trinkets and custom made works for sale by the locals, nothing too out there. Well it was until a version of Saki Yoshida from the infamous doujin "Emergence" came barreling into the market in a black 2019 Ram ProMaster armed with a pair of full auto machine guns, fervently shouting "The singularity is upon us! I have come to liberate you from the darknesses that vice brings into the hearts of mortals by freeing you of your mortal bodies! Can you not hear them?! The whispers, they tell of things beyond the comprehension of the mortal mind!"

Now obviously this is something dire that must be promptly dealt with in order to minimize civilian casualties, so what are a trio of gay women with elemental manipulation powers supposed to do? Well start with using water to freeze the guns to the point of non-functionality, followed by using a gust of wind to blow the aggressor back while a hardlight containment field finishes the job of subduing them of course. It took another 4 minutes until a squad of medicinal Warpers appeared to take the obviously mentally disturbed girl to a mental facility to receive proper treatment that with luck, could enable the constantly dealt a bad hand high schooler a chance to start her life over for the better. A dire situation, but a singular incident that wouldn't be part of a series of events, you might think. Well que the trio's next stop to the city of lights, now fully thriving in a post impact world. Of course being the high fashion capital of the world even after two world changing events, the main reason for our lovely angels to be there would be to hit up the shops for that perfect mix of sensual and practical when it comes to adding to their wardrobe. The current locale: a shop specializing in attire meant to invoke more…intimacy within the bedroom.

Wynn was browsing the sultry seduction on display when Lyna playfully teased "Looking for reference material for your newest chapter?", earning the silver minx a shushing from her green haired lover who responded "You know I don't want people knowing about that."

Aria then joined in by reassuring the more timid member of the trio "Lyna and I both read what you've made so far, you know you're good at it, we know you're good at it, you could easily publish your doujins under a pen name and no one would ever know that it's you behind them." to which Wynn reaffirms "No, it'd be too embarrassing if anyone found out."

When it came to more artistic feats before and after their Warper careers began, Wynn was without a doubt the best out of the three, especially in the field of actual drawing, painting and creative writing. Aria and Lyna would often tell her that she could easily rake in some serious frequent commission money if she posted her work online under a fake name akin to most artists and writers do to drum up sales, but the green haired aeromancer was always too afraid to just pull the trigger, concerned that the wrong crowd would find out who she really was and abuse that until the cows come home. Which also factored into what could be considered her "dirty little secret": the fact that she drew and wrote her own high fantasy yuri manga involving a village of various fantasy creatures, all of whom were women and had found ways to do everything to keep the village thriving without having any guys being brought in being a necessity. So far, she had made 4 volumes of it which she had kept hidden from everyone else in a private location that only her romantic partners knew about, which they only knew because they accidentally stumbled upon it, read it, and needless to say, the work did its job.

Before the trio could continue their whispered conversation, a loud crash was heard from outside. The perpetrator: a version of Marvel's Electro armed with Jaboody Dubs format rhymes.

"Look at me now, I'm fully charged. When slightly aroused, my dick is large. All your goods will soon be mine without a trace, now who dares to take an L right to their face?"

Obviously if you've dealt with some whacko ruining your day already, you'd really prefer to not have to deal with another within the same 24 hour period, leading Lyna to just trap the electric supervillain in a hardlight jail and shove him into some random universe before resuming their business, wishing that she and her lovers could just continue their plans in peace.

After finishing their shopping in the city of lights, the three maids decided to try and find somewhere quiet to just unwind after the last 2 incidents. Their choice: the soothing sights of scenic New New Hampshire. Finally, peace and quiet. An opportunity to enjoy each other's company and just not think about the insanity of the multiverse. For the three maids of the Knights of Ryujin, it was perfection, and it actually lasted until the trio decided to head back to the resort in time for dinner with the rest of the team. Once that was out of the way, all that was left on their planned agenda was a nice quiet walk on the beach before calling it a night.

The evening waves glistened in the pale moonlight, spreading the water's gentle song which was no more easy to listen to now that all of the tourists had packed up for the day. An ideal setting for a trio of lovely angels to simply take it all in, and possibly serve as a backdrop for amore.

"You know" went Lyna before adding "Today might not have been exactly what we planned with those two jerks messing things up a bit, but I still had fun with you guys."

Aria replied "I know, you expect a nice quiet day for yourself and the people close to you, and yet something just has to happen to prevent that. I'm just glad none of us had to deal with it alone." before Wynn inquired "I know the other girls on the team want to do a girls only day tomorrow, but maybe we could try again the day after?", earning a kiss on the cheek from both sides from her romantic partners. In a multiverse of chaos, powerful entities, and madness beyond madness, sometimes love finds a way to outshine everything.

It was just one of those "do fuck all" kinds of days for ol' Shinji as he was currently laying by the pool working on his tan with mojito in hand and Mana by his side.

"This is livin'." went the Third Child before adding "No robot armies attacking, no eldritch horrors that need bio-mechanical sins against science to fight 'em, no cabal of psychos trying to fuck everything up for everyone. Just you, me, good friends, and the ability to not give two shits and a popsicle about the rest of the multiverse for the next couple days before getting back to the old grind."

Unfortunately, said living was disrupted once Shinji got a text from Bishops.

"Seriously?" went the Third Child with the former TRI-DENT operative asking "What's wrong now?"

Shinji answered "Apparently the boss wants to meet up with Lark about something, supposedly there's some big money to be made and he wants me to get in touch with her." to which Mana responded with "So am I finally going to meet your Sharingan using drinking buddy?" with her boyfriend replying "If you're up for it." in return.

Fast forward an hour with the duo in a booth within the confines of a local hidden diner where Lark had texted the location of as a meeting place.

"If the topic of discussion is as major as a new stream of financial support for the team, why is she having us meet here when we're the ones who asked to talk to her?" asked the former TRI-DENT operative with Shinji answering "If I had to guess, public area equals no one who's smarter than a sack of hammers would try to claim our bounties while we're here, our conversations can be drowned out by the chatter of others, and kind of a stupid guess, but maybe she wanted to try and get more info out of us with the allure of lunch."

The Third Child's answer received a "Then she better be planning on chipping in if that's the case." from his romantic partner as Lark had finally appeared from the front door, taking all of five seconds to figure out the Knights of Ryujin energy signatures and sit at the booth before a member of the wait staff brought a trio of menus for them and asked about drinks.

The former ruler of Terra Cyclonia started the conversation by asking "Okay, so what's this thing that your boss wants to discuss with me all of a sudden?" with Shinji answering "I couldn't get that out of him, but what I did manage to get was that it's looking to be a major payday for the team, and he wants you to help with it in exchange for a cut."

This earned a "How big are we talking?" from Lark before adding "Are we talking mass media conglomerate big or stealing from some uber rich asshole big?"

"No idea, but I don't think it's the latter." answered the Third Child before adding "The fact that it's a pretty big score was all that he told me other than to request a meeting with you."

Lark took a sip of her freshly placed iced coffee before responding "Alright, I'll hear him out. Tell him that there's a race track on the outskirts of Tokyo 2 that the Multiversal Duel Monsters Federation uses to host games for their Turbo Duel division. I'll score us seats in the VIP section and we can talk there tomorrow."

"Great" went Shinji before adding "I'll go text Bishops that the meeting's set up, if someone comes to take orders, I'll do the beef empanadas." as he got up to send the message in a more secluded area, leaving his lover and his drinking buddy alone to talk.

Mana started the conversation by going "Look, I know you and my boyfriend are friends and like to drink yourselves stupid, but I'm making it clear that I'm not 100% all about sharing my boyfriend with people just because the multiverse says it's okay." with Lark answering "Relax, Shinji already told me that he wanted to be more controlled with his drinking since he and you started dating, and he's been kinda helping me get better control for myself. I may be a functioning alcoholic, but I'll admit that I've had my moments where I get carried away. I'm sure you've seen the most recent instance when your team was getting you and your friends up to speed on what was going on."

Lark wasn't exactly wrong in regards of seeing what Shinji's worst drunken escapades could result in as when she and the other former TRI-DENT agents were brought into the Knights of Ryujin, they were given a crash course of what the team had been up to in the timeline of before the first altered canon episodes began, and he had made a promise to reign it in on her behalf when the had started dating. Mana was gonna comment on it until she noticed Lark somewhat eyeing her up before the former ruler of Cyclonia added "And besides, I'm not interested in your boyfriend like that…unless you were involved, than maybe."

Mana could only blush at that last comment when Shinji returned saying "It's all set. He's agreed to the meeting place and he'll see you there tomorrow."

Lark replied "Perfect. Well then, since we're done with what needed to get done, I suggest we have some lunch and hit the town. You two up for it?"

Shinji looks at Mana to see if she'd be up for hanging around his drinking friend before she says "I've got nothing better to do, let's go for it." before the waiter brings them their menus to fuel up for the coming day.

Lunch was quickly devoured as the now trio made their way through the city leading to the Tokyo 2 Slam Center with the two ladies of the group convincing Shinji to enter one of the more higher tier tournaments. Round one began with versions of Kilik from Soul Calibur, Fish Eye from Sailor Moon and Jan Lee from Dead or Alive with the bo staff user putting on a bit of a show with the pilot of Unit-01 catching on real quick before playing along for a few minutes before knocking his opponent out with a well timed uppercut while the evil witch and the Jeet Kun Do fighter taking each other out with kicks to the face. Round two, this time the Metsu Sol Emerald holder was squared up with versions of Resident Evil's Leon S. Kennedy, Guilty Gear's Axl Lowe and Monkey Fist of Kim Possible fame. The fight lasted around five minutes with the main highlight being Shinji using the simian powered martial artist as a weapon by using his own moves against him.

The third round brought a surprise with the reveal of Kaworu being an entrant of the competition and reaching the semi finals alongside Shinji and their other opponents: a version of Hao Asakura from Shaman King and an iteration of One Punch Man's Deep Sea King.

Shinji turned to his teammate turned current opponent and went "Was kinda wondering where you went off to after that Time Chamber session. You been here all week so far?" with the renegade Angel answering "I opted to do some global exploring of my own beyond what the average tourist would usually seek out. Pro tip, there's a bistro off the coast of this Earth's Italy where the manicotti is superb."

Hearing this, the villain of the murky depths chided "Too bad you won't survive long enough to savor it once I'm done with both of you." with the elemental spirit wielding shaman responded "You remember that taking lives is forbidden in these competitions, don't you?" with the malicious merman answering "Who cares. I'll gladly trounce you too to get what I want, you filthy landwalker."

The battle began shortly after with the two Knights easily teaming up to knock out the fumbling flounder in a single combined strike before matching one another blow for blow even with the Shaman Fight champion entering the fray. The remaining three fighters enter a furious typhoon of blows enveloped in a veil of red, violet and goldenrod Ki.

Kaworu had managed to kick Hao back with Shinji going in for a right hook on the renegade Angel, who had barely managed to evade in time to return the favor with a cross chop to the Third Child's chest, sending him flying. Shinji however was quick to recover as the Shaman Fight champion attempted to go in for a classic German Suplex with the pilot of Unit-01 grabbing him by the arm for another throw, only to earn a kick to the ribs for his efforts as the pursuing Kaworu retaliated with a swift multipunch barrage that put the Elemental Spirit of Fire user on the defensive before he could do any more damage. With Shinji rejoining the assault, the malevolent Asakura determined that he needed to end things quickly, activating his Oversoul for a boost of power with both Knights of Ryujin utilizing Kaio Kens to match and debatably surpass Hao's output, taking him out of the fight with a two man Lion's Barrage, leaving only Shinji and Kaworu to battle it out for a space in the final round.

"Don't hold back." went Shinji with the being formerly known as Tabris nodding in agreement as both of them took their power amplifications to their highest, devoting whatever they had towards a single finishing strike. Sadly Kaworu didn't have what it took to get on Shinji's level…..at least not yet anyway as the human/Angel hybrid went down in one punch, signaling that Shinji would advance to the final match.

Heading towards his teammate to ensure the fact that he was still breathing, Shinji helped Kaworu onto his feet before asking "I didn't mess you up too bad, did I?" with SEELE's botched trump card answering "Nothing a Senzu Bean can't fix. I must thank you however."

"For what?" asked the perennial Impact causer to which Kaworu answered "For showing me that I still have a ways to go if I wish to stand by your side as an equal." before pulling Unit-01's pilot in for a power bro-hug.

With that, the finalists were set: Shinji VS a version of Misaki Kureha, the lead of a rather obscure ecchi mecha series named Divergence Eve VS a version of former Total Drama contestant Sammy, often misnamed as "Samey" from Earth Dimension TD-XO1418 and to the Third Child's surprise, a version of himself from an alternate universe.

The battle began and almost instantly, the former cheerleader of Pahkitew Island went in on a surprise double lariat on the two Shinjis, not noticing the Watchers Nest operative going in for a kick to her spine. The Knight of Ryujin Third Child was quick to regain his bearings before returning the favor of a surprise attack to the ex-Total Drama contestant with a swift punch to the face with the blonde Warper responding by grabbing her attacker by the extended arm and going for a throw with Shinji breaking free at the last minute.

"Why is it that whenever I take part in things like these, you bastards just have to show up?" went the former reality show contestant with the Ryujin Third Child snarkingly answers "Don't know, maybe you just have real shit luck with being matched with people who can kick your ass?" before both fighters enter a fierce grapple.

Meanwhile, the other Shinji attempts to fight the Divergence Eve character by using a group of Shadow Clones in an attempt to pull off an Uzumaki Barrage, only to be hit with the realization that his opponent was also a practitioner of ninja arts when the Misaki he kicked to launch the attack was indeed a clone made by her with the original charging in with a clone squad of her own. Deciding not to change plans, the non-level ten Warper associated causer of Third Impact continued his attack on his opponent while his Metsu Sol Emerald protecting counterpart was still in the midst of a fierce clash with the former Total Drama contestant, only for Misaki and Sammy to both gain a surprise upper hand and throw their Shinjis, crashing into one another back to back. Meanwhile, the Ikari in charge of the resort perked up from his desk when he sensed something….familiar. Familiar and deadly before rushing out of his office with this universe's Kensuke asking "What's the rush?"

The elder Shinji's only answer: "Something I need to nip in the bud real quick or we're all gonna be needing a new home!" before using Instant Transmission towards his destination with justified haste as back at the arena, the other Shinji was starting to emanate a somewhat familiar and powerful aura after taking multiple blows from all three opponents before it finally happened…

(Track Change- "Howling Moon 2"- Blazblue OST)

With a furious roar towards the sky, the other Shinji was now in a similar berserk mode to his Knight of Ryujin opponent, access to divine energy and all before unleashing a barrage on both the Watcher's Nest agent turned shinobi and the ex cheerleader reality show competitor that had temporarily sent them hurling back while he set his new sights on his counterpart. A single blocked punch was all it took for the Knight of Ryujin to inadvertently tap into his own divine energy pool with the two Third Impact instagaters now engaged in a furious series of blows.

The other two opponents in the fight were able to recover after a few seconds with the Pahkitew Island competitor going "Oh great, they both have access to god mode. Both of 'em must've already caused their universes Third Impacts already." with the Ecchi anime protagonist responding with "How do you know that?"

The former cheerleader's answer: "These are Evangelion characters we're talking about here, of course one of them probably causes Armageddon for their universe. Usually it's him." before activating a Kaio Ken at 35 times amplification with her opponent entering a Jinchuriki link mode based off of the main beasts of her franchise: the Ghoul.

The warrior women were able to distract their raging opponents from their own showdown with the ex-reality television contestant opting to fight the Metsu Sol Emerald holder with the Watcher's Nest agent turned shinobi dealing with the other raging EVA pilot…for all of three minutes until the berserk Impact initiators managed to turn the tables on both the ex-cheerleader of Pahkitew Island and the ecchi mecha anime protagonist who were armed with powered up Rasengans by having their opponents use their enhanced jutsus on one another to send each other flying into opposite walls. Before the two could continue their furious clash, the older counterpart of the three had finally arrived and unleashed a massive surge of power in order to knock the raging warriors out of the conscious plane.

Three hours had passed after that incident when the two divine energy users awakened in the confines of a new location: the same dojo that the elder Asuka that ran the resort owned.

"Oh good, you two finally came to." emerged a voice revealed to be coming from the elder version of the three counterparts with the younger non-Metsu emerald holder asking "Where are we and what the hell happened?"

The oldest Shinji's answer: "Well for starters, you two tapped into divine energy and went into full reckless abandon mode that would've almost certainly destroyed the arena…and added to your overall body counts."

While the somewhat unaware Shinji was questioning the definition of "divine energy", the Knight of Ryujin counterpart mentally went "Goddammit, not again. I gotta figure out how to actually control this shit." before noticing something resembling a traditional Maori tattoo mixed with the seal used to contain the Chakra beast Kurama into the body of one Naruto Uzumaki on his stomach region, turning to the resort owning iteration and going "What the hell is this supposed to be?", gesturing to said marking with the elder answering "Yeah, about that. I had to put seals on the two of you to keep your powers in check. You'll still be able to tap into the massive energy pool that comes with what some classified the "Awakened" form Shinjis like us gain at a certain point, but not all of it at once, so hopefully neither of you will be going berserk at random points until you can learn how to fully master it."

The younger duo look at the seals before the non Metsu Energy user goes "So if you were able to make these seals, does that mean that you've mastered this divine energy stuff?" with the resort owner showing off his own seal, answering "Only enough to safely access a portion of it, which is the reason I was able to make those seals in the first place."

With the involved parties now free to go come sundown, and when the sun rose the morning after, Shinji, Kawrou and Mana started to put in ideas on how to go back to enjoying their vacation with one another, having spent most of the day before dealing with the events of the arena when fate decided it had other plans in the form of a text from their leader:

"Everyone, bad news. Looks like we're gonna have to head back home ahead of schedule because someone just had to step to our turf while we were away."
