A/N: For the most part, we are left to speculate, but we are given enough information that I'll play. This is what happened after The Breakfast Club parted ways that Saturday afternoon. The characters and setting belong to John Hughes. This OC/story belongs to me. This version is a rewrite of the events in the movie with a plot twist and the pairings mixed up a bit. Also, I will focus on the original characters primarily in addition to my OC. To dive into my OC, please check out my John/OC Breakfast Club book called A Chance Encounter!

Saturday...March 24th, 1984. Shermer High School, Shermer Illinois. 60062.

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us… In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a nerd, and a jock, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal… Does that answer your question?

Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club.

Alison and Claire hugged like they had known each other for a lifetime, "The ribbon looks great on you," Claire said, still in awe. She didn't know Allison existed until today and that same girl was one of the kindest people, she'd ever met. Allison is such a sincere and cool person.

Allison had been hugged before, but never like this. Claire had a pure heart and in her hug was an energy, as if the matter of one powered up the other. She felt both of their energies had grown, they were closer to being free from what troubles them. Allison believed in freedom; she would find it before she grew old and it became out of reach.

"I have the same one in black," Alison replied. She felt good about saying what she thought aloud. It felt even better to have someone listen.

"Cool, can't wait to see it," Claire nodded eagerly. Claire admired Alison for not conforming, thinking that ribbon would look good in any color on her. Allison smiled brightly. For a moment the girls beamed at each other. They will never forget this moment.

The unlikely group sat at the table and everyone felt a little bit of serenity ebbing from each other. Brian was finishing up writing their paper when Claire stood behind his chair placing her hand on his shoulders while peering at him as he wrote. When she touches his shoulder, giving them a light squeeze, Brian's cheeks begin to warm. He gulps and swallows the lump growing in his throat. He'd never been touched like that before. He understood Claire. To the world, her posh, slightly bitchy attitude is like a wall of protection, but she uses it so frequently that she's not very aware of her inner self. Because, behind that wall is a shy and kind girl, that's very vulnerable. While her parents don't seem to pressure her academically, people around her expect her to be a certain way all the time, and she is slowly suffocated by it. Like many girls, she wasn't taught how to think for herself or to act in her interest, and it shows. But, with the right push and the right friends…

"Thanks for doing this," Claire says with a breathless whisper close to his ear. Brian's focus is momentarily shattered.

Claire also thanked Brian for standing up for her when Bender was laughing at her and being rude to Allison. That took guts and she admired him for it. His geekiness and awkwardness are in their way very charming, and he cares deeply about the other members of 'The Breakfast Club'. Only a special kind of person would write a paper for everyone and hit it perfectly on the mark. She feels bolder now, a little braver. She leans in and runs her fingers through his hair noticing how soft it is and how good it smells. That blond boy had in his heart the kind of golden dreams that heaven is built upon. Her touch causes Brian to momentarily stop thinking and writing to look up at her. What he sees is the most beautiful girl in the world.

"It's the right thing to do," he says peering at her with a wide cerulean gaze and crimson cheeks. She leans in and kisses him. They discover how soft each other's lips are.

The rest of the group politely looks away.

Bender smirks – the kids got balls; he thought walking alongside 'The Breakfast Club' down the halls of Shemer High. Bender thought the essay Brian wrote Vernon was probably the politest "fuck-you" he ever heard, so he'd make sure to look out for his meek friend on Monday. Although, Brian's sarcastic ass remarks gave him the impression that there was a spark of rebellion just waiting for the right moment. He's going to have a hell of a time living up to Queenie's high standards. Still, he thought the coupling of Brian and Claire and Andrew and Allison was cool because of how beyond belief it was.

Andy and Alison smile at each other while Andy takes her hand in his. He rose from his seat taking her with him. The couple walked together over to the reading nook and sat down.

"Truthfully, how do you like the new look?" He asks, knowing Allison is way too different to have ever been considered status quo. Her eyes were a rich, velvety brown that was easy to sink into the depths of, and when she smiled his heart started beating faster.

"Truthfully, I think I'll try it out for a while," She nods while fondling his necklace. He scooted closer to her on the couch. She moves in closer to him and he wraps his arms around her. Allison realizes that even though Andy's actions that caused him to get a detention were despicable, he cares about people, and is sensitive. He promised her and Brian that he'll 'make it right' with the 'kid' he assaulted. She believes that today may have been a turning point for him.

"That's cool, but I like you either way. The makeover was neat because I can see more of your pretty face and all of this..." He glides his fingers over her bare shoulder, caressing her skin's softness. Her body gives a little shiver and she lets out a tiny squeak. His touch felt like a pleasant jolt that warmed her entire body. He smiled, her heated flesh and reaction to his touch were driving him crazy and his heart started racing even faster.

For the first time, Bender felt good crossing the Shermer football field. He comes from a troubled working-class family and has found no other solution to his lot in life other than to cause trouble. However, even in the short period that The Breakfast Club served in detention, he made personal sacrifices for the sake of the group. He even owned up and took his reprimand from his male peers in stride. It's never cool to violate another person's space. He apologized to Claire for his improper behavior. And at the end of the detention hour, she accepted, hoping he'd truly learned his lesson. The group also forgave him for being a turd to all of them in the beginning. He was floored when the group was empathetic when he opened up about his abusive father. He liked them because, unlike his friends, they listened and they wanted things to get better for him. They wanted to be better. He wanted to be better too.

Back in their environment reality set in. Just one evening with their family their mind had changed. They had all decided they were all way too stubborn and hung up on the hierarchy crap to simply tell the world to go fuck itself with its expectations. Monday morning all of this progress would be forgotten... or will it?
