Gwen was still recovering from her recent encounter with the Devil and has been preparing herself for when he will recover and will be ready for revenge on her. But for now, she was safe. Lately however, she noticed one day that her two best friends went missing all day and never came home and Elder Kettle was missing his glasses and bumping into stuff (destroying most of the furniture).
So, Gwen decided to leave the cottage one morning and find her missing friends. Gwen heads to Inkwell City to start her search. While searching, she noticed police cars at a cookie factory.
"Uh oh. That doesn't look good." Gwen said to herself.
Gwen heads over to the factory to investigate. She walks up to an anthropomorphic bee police officer and asked,
"Excuse me sir? What happened here?"
"Oh, a chalice and two cups broke in one night and ate most of the cookies! The chalice got away but we caught the two cups and arrested them!" The bee cop explained.
Gwen's mouth dropped and asked,
"They did what?!"
"I told you; they broke into the factory and ate most of the cookies! Now if you see that chalice, turn her in! She is a wanted con-artist and a thief!"
The bee officer warned Gwen.
"Okay, I'll keep an eye out." Gwen complied.
"Good! Now, good day to you!"
The bee officer sent Gwen away.
Gwen leaves the crime scene and says to herself,
"I gotta get them out of jail! But how? Should I get Elder Kettle? No, he'll ground them for life. I'll just go down to Inkwell Prison and ask how much the bail is and pay it."
Gwen heads over to Inkwell Prison to bail her friends out of jail. After arriving at the prison, she realized it was on a far-off isolated island.
"Oh boy, I did not think this one through." Gwen said to herself.
Gwen notices a boat loading with prisoners and decided to ask the guards. Gwen runs up to the dock and asks another bee police officer,
"Excuse me sir? I need to get to that prison to speak with the Warden about bailing two prisoners out. Can I hitch a ride with you?"
"Sorry kid. But this boat is for disgusting criminals only! Now, go away!"
Gwen thought for a moment and decided to try something. She reaches into her pocket, secretly uses the magic inkwell to make a ten-dollar bill. She raises it up, waves it at the officer and says,
"I'll make it worth your while."
"Bribing a police officer, are we?" The Bee cop asked suspiciously.
Gwen nervously smiled.
"Hmm, alright! But tell no one!"
"Deal!" Gwen whispered.
The officer takes the ten dollars and lets Gwen climb aboard the boat. They sail to the island as Gwen says,
"Don't worry guys, I'm comin'!"
They reach the dock and Gwen waited for the newest prisoners to get off the boat.
"Follow me and stay close! These are the worst disgusting criminals in the Inkwell Isles!" The officer warned Gwen.
The officer escorts Gwen through the gates into prison courtyard and inside the prison. He leads her to the Warden's office and says,
"Wait here, I'll let him know he has a visitor."
The officer goes in the office and Gwen waited a while. After a few minutes, the officer comes out and says,
"Alright, the Warden will see you now."
"Thank you so much!"
Gwen thanked the officer and goes into the warden's office. The Prison Warden took one look at her and asked,
"Who are you human? And why have you come?"
Gwen took a deep breath.
"Good afternoon, sir. I'm Gwendolyn Mae Emmons. Forgive me for disturbing you but I've come to bail two of my friends out. Two young cups to be exact. Just name your price and I'll pay it. Please." Gwen pleaded.
The Warden sat at his high desk and said,
"Look ma'am, we don't do bail money around here! Your cup friends were found guilty of their crime and must serve their time if they want to be released! Plus, they recently have tried to escape three times already so they get to serve their sentence longer! So, I'm afraid you're wasting your time, Miss Emmons." The Warden told Gwen.
She felt dishearten as the Warden yelled,
"Guards!"
Two bee prison guards come into the office and the Warden says,
"Escort Miss Emmons back to the mainland!"
"But I…!"
Gwen protested as the two guards grab her shoulders and lead her out of the office. The officers take Gwen out of the prison and back in the courtyard and to her surprise, there was a giant female cyclops who growled at her. Gwen gasped as the one of the officers said,
"Don't make eye contact! She's the most dangerous criminal we have here!"
Gwen averted her eyes away from the cyclops and was taken through the gate, to the docks and on the next boat. After arriving at the docks, the officers take Gwen off the boat, throw her to the ground and one of them tells her,
"And don't ever let us catch you around here again! Or else you'll be getting a cell of your own! Got it?"
The guards get back on the boat and leave her behind. Gwen angrily stood up and said,
"I will find a way you jerks!"
Gwen sighed and leaves the docks back to Inkwell City.
Gwen walked down the sidewalk, sat on a bench, not knowing what to do now. Gwen sighed and said,
"What do I do now? They're my best friends."
Just then, Gwen notices an anthropomorphic saxophone dropping a coin in a small cloaked homeless lady's cup. After the saxophone leaves, the lady pulls off her cloak to reveal an anthropomorphic chalice in a blue skirt taking the coin and hiding her disguise on a coat rack.
"It's her!"
Gwen said as she realized that it was the chalice the police officer warned her about and who got her friends arrested. Then the chalice goes up to a donut stand and tap-danced for the donut man salesman. He is charmed by her dance and gives her a few chocolate donuts and the chalice danced off. Gwen is shocked at the chalice and said,
"Wow! How did she do all that? Get those people to give her stuff?"
Gwen gets up from the bench and followed the chalice up the street. Gwen hides behind a telephone pole at a demolition site and witnesses the chalice charming her way with a construction worker and lets her take a wrecking ball crane and makes the wrecking ball swing. But she accidentally knocks the building in the wrong spot, causing it to fall over, scaring nearby citizens and started to scream and run away. Gwen acted fast and used the magic inkwell to stop the falling building and restored it back to the way it was before the chalice ruined it.
"Phew!"
Gwen said after catching her breath. Nearby citizens cheer Gwen on as the construction worker comes up to Gwen and said,
"Oh, thank you Gwen!"
"No problem! Now, why did you let that chalice into that crane?!" Gwen scolded.
"Sorry, but she was so charming!" The construction worker admitted.
Gwen sighed and left the demolition site.
Gwen looked around for the chalice but couldn't find her anywhere. Just then, she notices the chalice sneaking into an alleyway. Gwen sneaks up to the alley and looks around for the chalice but was nowhere to be found. Gwen walked into the alley and turned a corner and around a stack of crates, but still no luck.
"Wow, she's a slippery one!" Gwen said to herself.
Just as Gwen was about to leave, a hand covers her mouth and is pulled and held against the wall. Gwen was shocked to see that the chalice standing on a crate found her instead.
"Alright human, who sent you? Who you workin' for?" The chalice demanded.
"Nobody I swear!" Gwen answered defensively.
"Then why are you following me? Spill the beans or you're spillin' milk! Except humans don't have milk!" The chalice warned her.
"I heard you were with my two best friends Cuphead and Mugman not too long ago! And I know it was you who used them to break into that cookie factory and got them arrested!" Gwen answered firmly.
"Look human…"
"My name's Gwen!"
"Fine Gwen, the name's Chalice! Ms. Chalice! Look, I did meet those two but I can explain!"
"I'm waiting…"
Gwen warned as she held up her glowing ink pen.
"Well…"
Ms. Chalice explained how she met the boys at the eye glass repair shop but then they followed her to the movie theater where they wanted to learn her secret to getting free stuff and she did. That night, she showed them how to use her secret to charm past a security guard at the cookie factory and it only worked when she did it and they got in and ate almost all the cookies. But then the cops were coming and the cups accidentally knock each other out and Ms. Chalice decided to leave them behind while the cups were arrested.
"So, it is your fault my best friends got arrested! I should've been there with them!" Gwen said angrily.
"Hey, hey calm down Gwen! I warned them not to get mixed up with a gal like me! This chalice is nothin' but trouble."
Ms. Chalice said as she released Gwen from her grasp.
"I can see that. This human can be trouble too. Look, you're wasting my time Chalice, I gotta get my friends out of the slammer. So, goodbye!"
Gwen said, losing patience and leaves Ms. Chalice alone. Ms. Chalice looked at Gwen and noticed the magic inkwell on her belt. Ms. Chalice thought for a moment and she gets an idea.
Gwen was walking down the sidewalk again until she bumps into Ms. Chalice. Gwen sighed and said,
"I thought I told you goodbye!"
"Look Gwen, I like you. You got spunk. You want your best friends back, right? I think I can help you with that." Ms. Chalice offered.
"How can you help? I know you're a con-artist! So, how can I trust you?" Gwen asked suspiciously.
"Because, I may know a way you can get into that prison and get your buddies out of there. But first, you gotta help me." Ms. Chalice pointed out.
"Wait, you want me to help you?" Gwen asked impatiently.
"All ya gotta do is help me out with a few little chores. Come on, what do ya say, girlfriend?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"We are not girlfriends!" Gwen snapped.
"Aw come on girl, let's shake on it."
Gwen thought for a moment and asked,
"You're sure you know how I can get my friends out of jail? Is it gonna involve… breaking the rules?"
Ms. Chalice folded her arms and said,
"Pretty much."
Gwen facepalmed and sighed.
"Understand this Chalice: I'm the last person you wanna lie to right now since I've had my share of betrayal recently." Gwen warned.
"Okay, okay. I won't. I promise. So, we got a deal?"
Ms. Chalice asked and reached her hand out. Gwen hesitated but eventually gives in and shakes her hand.
"Great! Let's go!"
Ms. Chalice takes Gwen's hand and leads her up the street.
"Wait! What are we doing?" Asked Gwen.
"You'll see!" Ms. Chalice answered.
Ms. Chalice led Gwen up the street and showed her how she gets what she wants by using her charm with a smile, singing a song, tap-dancing on top of cars or anything and finally giving them the slip. Gwen eventually gets the hang of it and uses the inkwell to leave the people she helped conned money to cover their tracks and since Gwen has common sense.
Later that day, Gwen and Ms. Chalice walk up a street not too far from the docks.
"Wow, you really charm your way to get what you want!"
Gwen admitted as she was licking a chocolate ice cream cone.
"Oh yeah girl! I kinda like having girls time! You and me Gweny!"
Ms. Chalice admitted as she licked a vanilla ice cream cone.
"You know, for a con-artist you're not so bad. I could use another friend. Especially after all I've been through lately."
Gwen said after having a bit of a change of heart for Ms. Chalice.
"Aw, thanks girlfriend!" Ms. Chalice said and held Gwen's hand.
After walking a while, they arrive at what appears to be a classical music studio.
"Wait, what are we doing here?"
Gwen asked Ms. Chalice after they finish their ice cream cones.
"I got one more job for ya before I spill the beans on how you can get your buddies out of the slammer without getting caught." Ms. Chalice explained.
Gwen started to get nervous, but she asked,
"What's that?"
"See that music studio over there?"
Ms. Chalice pointed to the building.
Gwen notices a sign and reads out loud, 'Ludwig, Piano Instructor Extraordinaire, new student wanted.'
"Uh, who's Ludwig?" Asked Gwen.
"Oh, he's that snooty piano master who's pretty rich. So, here's the deal: I need you to go up to the door, ask for Ludwig and tell him you're interested in being his next student. Once he starts his first half-hour lesson with you, I'm gonna sneak in and find his stash of his precious valuables in his music jewelry box! Plus, the keys to his fancy-shmancy boat!"
Gwen was shocked and asked,
"Are you crazy?! Are you trying to get me arrested?!"
"No! No! No! Listen! All you gotta do is say nice things and make him feel good, act like nothing's wrong and keep him distracted long enough for me to snatch those goodies til the end of the lesson."
Gwen stood there, unsure about the scam. Then she said,
"Uh, Chalice? I need to tell you something. I haven't had piano lessons since I was a kid. My older sister Rose and I were forced by our parents to take lessons from this very snooty music teacher who was very strict and a mean perfectionist."
Gwen explained some of her past as she winced at that memory.
"I'm sorry that happened to you and your sis, but can you do this for me please girlfriend?"
Ms. Chalice asked with a cute face. Gwen looked at her unamused and said,
"Okay, fine!"
Gwen goes up to the door, says to herself,
"You got this Gwen. You can do this. I'm gonna charm my way… to a snooty piano teacher."
Gwen hesitantly pulls the doorbell rope and she hears the bells play the tune Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, which startled Gwen. Just then, the door opens and Gwen saw a tall anthropomorphic humanoid figure dressed in a fancy musician's outfit with a phonograph for a head appear before her.
"Yes? May I help you young lady?" He asked.
Gwen nervously stood there and asked,
"Uh, are you the great Ludwig? Piano Instructor Extraordinaire?"
"Look no further my dear. Your epic search is over! You have found the brilliant music mastermind himself! Now, what may I inquire is your business here?" Ludwig asked in a fancy-like tone.
Gwen winced at him, but kept her cool and said,
"I heard you're looking for another piano student? I'm kinda interested?" Gwen nervously smiled.
Ludwig takes one look at her and says,
"Say, aren't you the young human teenager who bravely battled the dreadful Devil until he suffered a major humiliating defeat?"
Gwen realized he knew who she was and asked,
"Oh, you heard of me?"
"I am in the presence of the lovely and fair Gwendoolaan Mye Eeemoons!" Ludwig called her.
Gwen cringed at the name he called her and said,
"Uh, yeah. That's me." Gwen nervously smiled.
"Please, come in my dear."
Gwen reluctantly complies and quickly glances for Ms. Chalice, but she was gone.
Inside the music studio, Ludwig leads Gwen through a fancy room as Gwen stared in awe of his studio. Remembering to stick to the plan, Gwen says,
"Wow, you have a lovely, fancy studio and home."
"I know my dear. Can you believe I had this custom-made?"
Gwen grumbled at his narcissism then Ludwig says,
"Now, come along Gwendoolaan and don't touch anything!"
Gwen follows Ludwig and noticed he walks in a fancy-like way, making Gwen snicker. Ludwig leads her to his grand piano and Gwen asks,
"So, what exactly do I…"
"A moment, Gwendoolaan! I must take off my afternoon gloves." Ludwig interrupted.
He removes his white gloves in an overly-careful way as Gwen stood there, waiting impatiently. After he takes his gloves off, he asks,
"You were saying?"
Gwen asks,
"I was gonna ask…"
"A moment, Gwendoolaan! I must put on my evening gloves." Ludwig interrupted again.
Gwen glared at him and folded her arms impatiently and thought to herself,
"What a narcissistic, self-centered, egotistical blockhead!"
After carefully putting on his white gloves on his hands, Ludwig asks,
"Now, you were saying?"
Gwen paused for a moment then she sarcastically said,
"I don't remember now."
"Such is the power of watching a man remove and then put on various gloves my dear."
Ludwig bragged, to her unamusement. Ludwig puts his hand on her shoulder and says,
"Now Gwendoolaan, there is something I must say, and it is this: I loathe you!"
Gwen was feeling uncomfortable and asked,
"What? I didn't do anything!"
"Yes, my dear child, I loathe you because I am jealous. Jealous that your musical adventure is at its dawn, while mine barely holds to dusk. Why go on you ask? Because I have chosen to nurture the next wave of talent… you Gwendoolaan!"
Gwen cringed at him, recalling some of her painful memories of herself with her mean piano teacher acting similar to Ludwig.
"Now, shall we get started my dear?"
Ludwig asked and gestures her to take a seat at the piano. Gwen gulped and reluctantly complies and sits on the piano bench.
"Now, show me what you can do."
Gwen took a deep breath and places her hands on the piano keys and plays the song Für Elise, but not perfectly as she struggled to remember how to play the song.
"Ah, so you have played before my dear?"
Ludwig interrupted yet again.
Gwen sighed and admitted,
"Yes, my older sister and I played when we were kids, not that we had a choice. It's just been so long. I'm a little rusty."
"Excellent! Now to refresh your memory, release the tension in your hands. And your posture is a little slumped. Straighten up. And relax."
Gwen straightens her posture and tries to relax her hands.
"That's better, now grace the ivories with Für Elise again."
Gwen took a deep breath and started to play again, but slightly better than her first attempt. As she played, she noticed in the piano's reflection Ms. Chalice in a ghost form and searching for Ludwig's valuables and boat keys, to her shock. Gwen acted like nothing was wrong and continued to play to keep Ludwig's attention occupied while Ms. Chalice stole his music jewelry box and boat keys.
Gwen kept playing for Ludwig until the 30 minutes were up.
"Alright my dear, I think that's enough for today. Shall we continue same time next week Gwendoolaan?"
Ludwig said as he noticed his fancy clock. Gwen sighed of relief, happy that the lesson is over. She gets up from the piano bench, trying to rest her tired fingers and said,
"Um, I'll think about it Ludwig. Anyway, it was 'nice' to meet you and I'll just be going then."
Gwen started her way to the door, but she stopped and overhears Ludwig saying to himself,
"Ha! I'd rather hear cats howling on the fence than her music skills, which she has none! Anyway, with her as my student, I'll be more popular than ever!"
Gwen felt insulted and angry. So, she walked outside and slammed the door.
"Ugh! What a lying, scamming blockhead! I'm gonna show him what happens when he messes with Gwendoolaan! Oh no, now I'm sounding like him! Ugh!"
Gwen groaned and noticed Ms. Chalice was gone.
"Uh Chalice? Where are you?"
Suddenly Gwen hears police sirens and goes to the docks and sees police boats chasing a speeding fancy boat.
"Oh no. Ms. Chalice, what are you doing now?"
Gwen asked herself, realizing Ms. Clalice went for a joyride in Ludwig's fancy boat. Then Gwen noticed that Ms. Chalice turned around to avoid the police boats and drives the fancy boat to the loading dock, slides up the ramp into the air and crashed the boat into the street by Ludwig's studio. Gwen runs up to the crashed boat and called,
"Ms. Chalice! Are you okay?!"
Ms. Chalice gets out of the boat with the music jewelry box in her ghost form, shapeshifted back to her living form and says,
"I am fantastic girlfriend! You did it! I always wanted to take that fancy boat out for a spin!"
Ms. Chalice said, feeling enthusiastic and happy, to Gwen's shock.
"You're a ghost? But, why didn't you tell me?" Gwen asked, now confused.
"You never asked, duh! Anyway, how did it go Gweny?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Ugh, he was terrible! He reminded me so much of my old piano teacher! He even had the nerve to insult my piano playing skills and is gonna use me to boost his popularity! There's gotta be a way to give him what he deserves!"
Gwen yelled with frustration. Suddenly, they hear police sirens wailing and Ms. Chalice says,
"Cheese it girl! The cops! Let's go!"
"No kidding!"
Gwen and Ms. Chalice run away from the crash site and hide in an alleyway. Gwen thinks for a moment, then gets an idea and says,
"Hey Chalice! I think I got an idea to keep the cops off our trail and onto someone else's!"
"Really? How?" Asked Ms. Chalice.
"Hee, hee, hee. You'll see." Gwen said smugly.
Gwen gets out her ink pen and points it at the crashed boat. She paints a silhouette of Ludwig and made it look like he's fleeing the scene and runs into the studio. The bee cops get out of their cars and one of them yells,
"That looked like Ludwig! Piano Teacher Extraordinaire! Let's get him!"
The bee cops storm the studio and hears Ludwig yelling,
"What are you doing?! What did I do?! You can't arrest me!"
Gwen watch smugly as Ludwig is being arrested by the cops and taken away.
"Girlfriend, I couldn't have planned it better myself! You're a genius! You'd make a great con-artist yourself!"
"Yeah, I'm not gonna do that, but I will take that as a compliment. Now, let's get out of here quick before something else happens!"
Gwen and Ms. Chalice run away and head to the outskirts of Inkwell City.
It was dark and Gwen said to Ms. Chalice,
"Okay, I admit, today was fun. But you promised me you'd tell me how to get my best friends out of jail. So please, tell me."
"You're right girlfriend, a deal's a deal." Ms. Chalice said.
Ms. Chalice leads Gwen to the docks where a boat is set to leave soon.
"Listen, that boat goes to that prison at 1:30 with a laundry truck on it. You have to be on that boat! Get in the truck you should be able to get in! And watch out for those guard dogs! They'll eat you alive!" Ms. Chalice explained.
Gwen took a deep breath and said,
"Okay. I will. Thanks."
Gwen turned to Ms. Chalice and saw her leaving.
"Hey! Wait! You're not coming?"
"Sorry Gwen, I have to go now! But I promise, we'll hang out again soon! Maybe do more scams together! It's nice to have a new friend."
Gwen smiled and said,
"Sure Chalice, and thanks!"
Ms. Chalice turned back into a ghost and flew away.
After Ms. Chalice leaves, Gwen paints herself invisible and sneaks on the boat. The boat's horn blew as Gwen quickly snuck on board as the ship was leaving. Gwen keeps very quiet and sneaks up to the laundry truck. Gwen shapeshifts into a ghost and flies into the truck and waited in the back.
The boat arrives at the prison and the laundry truck drives onto the dock as the gates open and Gwen peeks out to see Mugman with a laundry cart with Cuphead hiding inside. Gwen knocks out the driver and comes outside in a police guard disguise wearing a fake mustache and whispers,
"Guys!"
The cups gasped and whispered,
"Gwen!"
Gwen runs up to them and embraces them.
"Gwen, we thought we'd never see you again!" Said Cuphead.
"Oh Gwen! You came for us!" Said Mugman.
"It's the least I could do, but promise me you ding-dongs won't do anything stupid like breaking into that cookie factory again!" Gwen scolded.
"We promise!" Both cups answered.
Just then, they hear a deep growling and the trio look up to see the cyclops Gwen saw earlier and gasped.
"Miss Cyclops! Are you gonna rat us out?" Mugman asked.
Miss Cyclops muttered but shook her head like she was telling him, "No." And held up a little pink blanket.
"Oh, don't worry. Someone else will wash your blankie."
Miss Cyclops scoops Mugman into her hand and Mugman assured her,
"As much as I love prison, my place is with Cuphead and Gwen."
Miss Cyclops lowered Mugman back down to the laundry cart and looked at Gwen as she stood there, amazed that Mugman befriended the cyclops. Feeling brave, Gwen goes up to Miss Cyclops, petted her large foot and said,
"Thanks for looking out for my best friends for me."
Miss Cyclops scoops Gwen in her large hand and brings her up to her face and hugs her. Gwen is squeezed too tightly as Miss Cyclops cuddled her against her cheek.
"Uh, if that means what I think it means, then yeah."
Gwen weakly said, assuming she was telling her 'You're welcome.'
Gwen is lowered down to her friends and Mugman said,
"Now, we got a laundry truck to catch."
"Let's go guys!"
Gwen whispered as she struggled to walk from being squeezed too tight. Suddenly, Mugman steps on a jack and screamed in pain, thus triggering the alarm, the gate closing and the Doberman dogs were coming right for them.
"Oh no!"
Cried Cuphead as he gets out of the laundry cart and into Mugman's arms crying. Gwen holds the boys close and says,
"Don't panic! I'll think of something!"
Just then Miss Cyclops breaks her chain on her foot and places the trio in her chain. She spins her lock-up ball like a shot-put and throws them out of the prison courtyard and away from the island as they all screamed. Miss Cyclops felt proud of herself until the dogs started barking at her and scares them off with her roar.
After a while, they finally land in the front yard of the cottage. The chain breaks off and the trio fall to the ground.
"Freedom!"
Both cups yelled and both started kissing the ground. Gwen removes her guard disguise and back into her regular outfit and said,
"Well, that was an exciting day!"
Gwen goes up to the front door with her friends as Cuphead says,
"Ah, home sweet home."
Elder Kettle opens the door to greet them and says,
"Boys! Gwen! There you are. You just missed your friend! She brought my glasses. She sang me a song. Oh, she was so charming!"
The trio gasped and all said,
"Chalice!"
The boys stared at Gwen and Cuphead asked,
"Wait, you met Chalice too?"
"Oh yeah, we spent the day together, singing, dancing, being 'charming'. And she did help me out in return for helping her." Gwen admitted.
"Yes, Chalice! That's her name. What a delight. Oh, by the way, uh you two are grounded for life!" Elder Kettle yelled.
"Yes! Please ground us!" Said Cuphead.
"Never let us leave again!" Mugman added and they both kiss Elder Kettle's feet, to his confusion.
Gwen laughed as they all head inside and the boys head upstairs to bed. Elder Kettle asks Gwen,
"So, my dear, where have you been? You said you spent the day with Chalice?"
"Yes, I did. And I took a quick piano lesson from the worst teacher I've ever met!" Gwen explained.
"Oh, really? Can you show me really quick?" Elder Kettle asked.
Gwen sighed and said,
"Okay, but just for a moment."
Gwen goes up to the piano, cracked her knuckles and played Für Elise, but she played so much better that time. Elder Kettle is amazed as Gwen finished the song.
"Wow, dear. You didn't tell me you could play piano!" Elder Kettle said as he applauded her.
"I used to when my sister and I were kids. But now I'm happy being the woman I am now." Gwen said.
"That's nice dear. Now, what do you say we head upstairs to bed? I need you to make sure the boys stay grounded." Elder Kettle said.
"Oh, I will. I promise."
Gwen promised as they head upstairs and head to bed. As she was about to crawl in bed, she notices a note on her pillow that said her name along with a little box tied with a red ribbon.
"Hello, what's this?"
Gwen was nervous it could be a message from the Devil. But she bravely opens the note and it said,
"Gwen, sorry I couldn't stick around to help you get your friends out. I know they're still mad at me, but I'm proud of you for your success! Anyway, we'll hang out again soon, I promise. I had such a fun day with you and we'll have more days! I'm sorry that the Devil is still after you, but I know deep down you can still kick his butt as you always have and you will get out of marrying him. I just know it! Stay strong Gwen, that inkwell chose you for a reason. I left you a little gift for all your trouble. I hope you like it girlfriend! Your new friend, Ms. Chalice."
Gwen smiled and looked down at the little box wrapped in a red ribbon. She opens the box and looks inside and sees a rare Victorian 14k gold amethyst brooch with little pearls surrounding the stone. Gwen is awed at the stone and holds it in her hand and asked herself,
"Wait, how did she know I'm a February birthday?"
Gwen thought for a moment but shrugs it off and assumed it was one of the valuables from Ludwig's music jewelry box and puts the brooch back in the little box and hides it. Gwen goes to sleep, finally happy that everything was back to normal… for now.
