It had been over a month since Link had left Termina. Or, it had at least felt like a month. Time seemed to pass by strangely in the Lost Woods, so he wasn't exactly sure how long it had been.

Epona trudged through the never ending mist to an unknown destination, still in search of Navi. Sure, Link had met Tatl and she had been a fairy, but she was nothing like Navi. Link's mind continued to wander as they continued onward. Pretty soon, he had drifted off to sleep. Epona sighed as she recalled what had happened the last time he had fallen asleep on her back. So, she decided to stop for a rest. She shook Link awake, which greatly annoyed him, but he got off her, and gave her some food and water out of his pouch.

Then, he laid his back against a tree and fell back asleep. He began to dream, but it wasn't just any ordinary dream, it was a message from the Goddesses. Link found himself in what looked like the inside of the Temple of Time, but yet it was different. An aura of light was all around him, and four figures appeared in front of him. Three of them he could easily recognize were Din, Nayru, and Farore. However, the fourth figure was different, and he couldn't recognize her. Link ignored this when Farore began to speak.

"Link, my chosen wielder of Courage. We have a message and a very important task for you. I'm afraid a hero's job is never done, and there is another land to save". Said Farore.

"However, this land is far different from Hyrule or Termina, and is very technically advanced compared to our world. It will most likely overwhelm you at first, but we have all decided that it is in need of your help." Nayru added on.

"We will be able to contact you along the way through your dreams, and through a special object that we shall give you. It is the Mirror of Vision, and it is only to be used in emergencies. Also, the only way to access this world will be through a portal in the Lost Woods, similar to the one to Termina. When you arrive, you will find that your appearance, clothing, and supplies may change when you arrive to adapt to that world." Said Din. Then, the fourth figure spoke.

"Link, I believe we have not been properly introduced, but you already know me, even if you don't know or recall it. I am the Goddess of the Time and former protector of the Triforce. Thousands of years ago, I gave up my immortal soul to be reincarnated as a Hylian. This was the first Princess Zelda, and I live on through her bloodline as the seventh sage that you know. I'm deeply sorry, but Epona will not be able to join you on your journey, as a horse in this world would seem out of place. We will spare the details of your mission until you cross over safely. When you do, contact us through the mirror and tell us what has changed, and what your surroundings look like. With this we thank you for your services, and give you our blessed mirror". As Hylia finished, the Goddesses disappeared in the mist, and Link awoke with a start. The mirror that they had described in the vision was laying in the ground next to him. So, he put it in his pouch, and motioned to Epona that it was time to get going. After climbing back on, they started off.

After only about a few moments, they came upon an overturned log that was hollowed out. He recognized it as the portal that Din had mentioned. Link had Epona stop, and he climbed off. He took all of his equipment and told Epona goodbye. She seemed very confused and sad, but when he mentioned that he should be back at some point, she perked up. Link took a deep breath, and ran through the tree trunk.

At the end of the tunnel was a long drop, but this time, Link welcomed it, and jumped in eager for a new adventure. As he fell, he couldn't help but notice that he was already changing. His ears burned with pain, and he began to scream. The tunnel became a spinning vortex of colors, and every few seconds a face would appear. There were several various brown bears, purple bunnies, yellow chickens, red foxes, and several other faces. They were all terrifying, and only added to his screams. The final face was that of a man in purple holding a knife. Then, it ended with a thud.

Wherever Link was now, stunk really bad. He opened his eyes to find himself in a giant green container filled with smelly black bags. He quickly climbed out, almost gagging, and took in his surroundings.

Besides the giant green container of smelly bags, he was in a dark alleyway. It was night, and there was light at the end of the alleyway. Link located the mirror on the ground to look at his reflection. He gasped at the sight of his now rounded ears, but nothing else physically changed. Next, he looked at his clothes. His hat had become tighter on his head, and was small enough that it didn't flap in the wind. The hat covered most of his hair excluding a few longer strands in the front. His green tunic was replaced with something soft and baggy, and he was now wearing some sort of pants too. His boots were now some sort of comfy shoe, and were now black with white at the bottom. His pouch was now missing, but a knapsack-like bag lay beside him, and after checking, his items were in there. Some he assumed had changed, because there were several familiar yet different items. He was about to contact the Goddesses when they appeared in the mirror first.

He discussed the items in his bag and his clothes with them. They gave him a list of his items and clothing with what they now were.

A lot of time passed as Link tried to comprehend this information. The Goddesses said "We thought you could use some help. So, we are bringing you an old friend".

With that, the mirror went dark and all he could see was his now unrecognizable reflection. Suddenly, a glowing hole appeared above the smelly box, which he was told was called a garbage bin. A glowing figure came screaming through the hole and fell into the bin. The scream was very familiar, but Link doubted that it was her. The figure began to shout in a very familiar voice.

"What the Demise just happened"?! She shouted.
