Gwen and Rose are both horrified at the note that William found at their parent's house. They've learned that their parents have been kidnapped along with Mugman and are being held in the dungeon of Hell. Cuphead sadly leaves with the pitchfork on the tandem bike and heads home. Gwen broke down crying and hugged Rose.
"What do I do now Rose? He's gonna kill mama and papa if I don't surrender." Gwen asked sadly.
"Shh, shh, shh. We'll think of something." Rose tried to calm her heartbroken sister down.
"This is all my fault. I let this happen to mama and papa." Gwen sobbed.
"No, Gwen. You mustn't blame yourself. The Devil is to blame." William assured her as he knelt down and hugged the sisters.
"Will, help me get her up." Rose said to William.
They both help Gwen to her feet have Gwen, wrap her arms around their shoulders and walk with her back to the cottage.
The three humans enter the cottage, escort Gwen to her room while Cuphead is crying on the couch with Elder Kettle asking him what's wrong. Rose has Gwen lay in her bed and says,
"Gwen, lay down for a while. William and I are gonna discuss what we're gonna do now. In the meantime, I need you to calm down and I don't want you going anywhere alone since the Devil's still after you. Okay?"
Gwen sadly nods and tries to sleep off her sadness. Rose leaves her room, closes the door and goes downstairs to join William.
"How is she?" William asked.
"She still blames herself for what happened." Rose said.
"So, what are we gonna do?" William asked.
"We need to think of a plan to get our parents and Mugman back. Plus, prevent that monster from taking my sister away from us forever. If Gwen gives in to his demands, we're never gonna see her again and we don't want that. I don't want that" Rose explained her fear of losing her sister forever.
"I know, I don't want that either. But how do we even get down there? The Devil seems to come and go at will with that elevator you both saw earlier." William asked.
"But how do we know the Devil is not gonna go back on his promise to spare mama and papa?" Rose asked.
As Rose and William were talking, Gwen briefly overhears their conversation and is still depressed. Unable to calm down, she uses the inkwell to shapeshift into a ghost, flies out of her room and flies off into the forest.
Gwen finds the tree she slept under the night she met her two best friends. Gwen flies down to sit down, turns back into a human and continued to cry as she sunk her head into her knees. Suddenly she hears a familiar demonic voice echoed in the air,
"Oh, you poor little girl you. You lost the two people who brought you into the world, raised, protected and loved you."
Gwen looks up to look around for the Devil, but he was nowhere to be seen. Feeling scared, she gets up from the ground and runs away. But the Devil continued,
"Is that all you're gonna do my dear? Keep running away from your problems? From your fate? Like the night we met and the decision you made to stay in our world? Real cowardly if you asked me."
"I'm not hearing this!" Gwen yelled as she kept running.
"Then again, I can't really blame you. You always had it tough growing up. Not living up to your father's expectations, never making him proud of your accomplishments he never approved of. Your mother supported you for a while but then she didn't support you later on when times got tough. And above all, you always felt like you were beneath your sister since she was always their favorite daughter." The Devil continued.
"Shut up! Shut up!"
Gwen yelled as she kept running until she reached a cliff and stopped herself from falling over. Gwen breathed heavily as the Devil continued,
"Think about it. If you come with me, all those sad thoughts and memories will go away. You can make new ones with me. You will never feel sad and alone again."
Gwen looked around for the Devil and shouted in denial,
"You know nothing about what I've been through before you came into my room that night! Do you have any idea how hard it was before I found the inkwell, before you brought me here?!"
The Devil appears behind her and said,
"No need to shout dear."
Gwen turned around, feeling angered, she goes up to him and demanded,
"Give my parents and friend back now!"
She raised her ink pen and fired her cyan-beam attack at him followed by all her range of attacks. The Devil laid on the ground, seemingly defeated, gets up and brushes the black smoke off of him and calmly asked,
"Are you finished yet dear?"
"No, but you are!"
Gwen yelled and fired her electric zap attack and electrocuted him. The Devil snickered and said,
"Temper, temper. If you're finished fooling around, perhaps you are ready with your choice? You had plenty of time to think about it. So, which do you choose? You or your parents?"
Gwen stood there in horror, knowing she has to make a choice now. Just then, she hears Rose yell,
"Gwen! Gwen! Where are you? Please answer me! None of this is your fault!"
Gwen looked at the Devil as he smiled evilly and reached his hand, gesturing her to come with him in the elevator. Gwen was feeling pressured as she heard Rose drawing near to her location. Out of impulse, Gwen reaches her hand toward the Devil's hand as he takes her into the elevator, closes the door and pushes the down button. Rose arrives too late and yelled,
"Gwen! No! Stop!"
But the Devil laughed evilly as the elevator disappeared into the ground. Rose knelt down and started crying.
"No! Gwen!" Rose yelled.
William arrives after Rose and tries to comfort her.
"I shouldn't have left her alone!" Rose sobbed.
"Hey, hey. It's okay, we'll get her back. We need to find Cuphead. Maybe that pitchfork can help us. Doesn't it hold more powers?" William assured her and explained his idea.
Rose calmed down, sniffled and said,
"The pitchfork! That's it! Maybe we can use it to go down there and get our loved ones back! Oh, you're a genius!"
Rose kissed William and both get up and head off into the woods to find Cuphead.
Meanwhile down in the depths of Hell, Edgar and Margarine are chained up next to Mugman in the dungeon. Mugman is whistling happily as Edgar firmly asked,
"Uh, my boy? Could you please keep it down? That's starting to get on my nerves."
"Sorry mister human, I'm just passing the time, that's all." Mugman said happily.
"You seem to be not affected by all this. It's amazing." Margarine said.
"Well, I'm only here until my brother and Gwen comes and gets me." Mugman said.
Both parent's eyes widened as Edgar asked,
"Who did you say? Gwen?"
"You know Gwen?" Margarine asked.
"Why yes, she's my best friend. Why? You guys know her too?" Mugman asked.
"Know her? She's our daughter!" Margarine answered.
Mugman's eyes popped and asked,
"Wait a minute! You guys are her parents?"
"Yes, I'm Edgar Emmons. And this is my wife Margarine Emmons." Edgar introduced themselves.
"Do you have a name my boy?" Margarine asked.
"Why yes, I'm Mugman." He introduced himself.
"Strange name, but it'll do." Edgar said.
"Edgar!" Margarine scolded.
"Sorry Mugman, we're not from this strange world." Margarine apologized.
"That's okay Marge. I just can't believe Gwen's parents are here with me!" Mugman said excitedly.
"Maybe you have answers. Do you know why this is happening to us? Why the Devil took our daughter away from us?" Edgar asked.
"Well…"
Mugman explained everything from the magic inkwell, the Devil's intentions to marry Gwen, how she escaped and he and Cuphead found her and took her in and lived with them for over a month.
"This is so much to take in. So, Gwen found this 'magic inkwell' at the park that gave her these strange powers and the Devil seeks to marry her to obtain those powers through her?" Edgar asked, trying to understand the situation.
"Pretty much Ed. He never gives up you know." Mugman answered.
"But what does the Devil taking us away from our home have to do with any of this?" Margarine asked.
"Hmm… Oh! I just remembered! The Devil realized he can't marry Gwen if he didn't have her parent's blessing! Oh wait, your blessing!" Mugman answered.
"What?! Absolutely not!" Edgar sternly said.
"The answer is no!" Margarine added.
"That's good. It's like Rose said, 'No blessing, no marriage.'" Mugman said.
"Wait, you know Rose too?" Edgar asked.
"Yes, she and William are very nice. Gwen's very lucky to have a sister like her." Mugman complimented.
Edgar and Margarine are both shocked and continue to talk to Mugman to learn everything Gwen has been doing during her disappearance.
Meanwhile, the Devil appears back in Hell with Gwen as his prisoner for the third time. He takes her hand, and leads her to his office in the dungeon as she was tearing up again. Inside, Gwen looks out the window and to her horror, she witnesses slaves being forced to work with demon guards she snuck past before guarding them. Gwen looked around until she saw her parents and Mugman chained up and talking to each other. Gwen gasped and said,
"Mama! Papa! Mugman!"
She was about to quickly leave the office and down the stairway until Henchman closes and locks the door. The Devil held her shoulders and said,
"Uh, uh, uh. Not so fast my beautiful flower. You can't see them just yet."
"Why not?" Gwen angrily asked as Henchman has her sit in a chair.
"Because I get to decide when you get to see your parents one last time!" The Devil argued.
Gwen sighed, then she notices a giant box with pictures of a fork and spoon. Gwen gets up to take a peek inside until the Devil stops her and frantically said,
"No! Don't peek in there! That's off limits!"
"Why not? Is there something in there you don't want me to see?" Gwen asked with a smug look on her face.
"No! I forbid you from looking in that box! End of discussion!" The Devil yelled.
Gwen giggled as the Devil has her sit back in her chair as he gave her a frustrated look.
Meanwhile, after Mugman talked to a fellow prisoner next to him, a guard tries to shut him up until Mugman asked about a lever between him and Edgar. Just then, he pulls his hand out of his restraint and pulls it, opening a trapdoor and sending the guard down to be burned alive.
"Oops."
Said Mugman and slips his hand back into his restraint. Edgar and Margarine looked at him with shock as Mugman asked,
"What?"
"You mean to tell me you could've taken your hand out of that restraint the whole time?!" Edgar impatiently asked.
"I dunno. I just did it I guess." Mugman answered.
Edgar grumbled at Mugman.
"But on the bright side, we can still keep talking." Mugman said happily.
A fellow prisoner screamed in agony while Edgar sighed as Mugman was still talking. Margarine tries to reassure Edgar that it will be okay.
Meanwhile, the Devil called,
"Guards!"
Two large green toothy guards carrying spears arrived in the office.
"Escort my fiancée to her chambers. And make sure she stays there this time until I'm ready to propose to her! Take the magic inkwell and ink pen while you're at it in case she gets any ideas!" The Devil ordered.
The two guards grab Gwen's shoulders, stand her up and take her out of the office and back to her bedroom prison. The guards remove the inkwell and ink pen from her belt after they escort her inside her room. They leave her alone, lock up the door and stand guard to make sure she doesn't escape again.
Inside her prison room, Gwen wasn't sure what to do now as sits on her bed, sunk her head in her hands.
"What do I do now?"
She sadly said to herself and laid in bed and covered herself in the blanket in sadness. Then she remembered what Quadratus told her,
"Anything is possible when you have the power of love and friendship. You must put your trust in your friends as they put their trust in you."
This gave Gwen a glimmer of hope and hoped that Rose, William and Cuphead were coming for her soon. Then she drifted off to sleep hoping to feel better and have an escape and rescue plan.
Back in the office, the Devil and Henchman make a bet that he can break Mugman's spirit before 12 o'clock. Henchman warned his boss not to cheat and the Devil pretends to agree. The Devil looks out the office window again and looks at Edgar and Margarine talking to Mugman.
"Look at her mother and father, they still want their youngest daughter back even after the way they treated her before I took her away. No matter, I'll propose to Gwen soon and she'll have no choice but to say 'yes'". The Devil evilly said.
"I dunno boss, you know Gwen's very smart. She's not won over very easily and she's definitely no pushover either. You've seen her tricks she used to outsmart you. So, I wouldn't underestimate her either." Henchman warned his boss.
"Oh please! I also bet that I could make my beautiful flower say 'yes' to my proposal before 12." The Devil snickered.
"I'll take that bet too!" Henchman called.
The Devil's eyes popped.
"What? We already have a bet going on and…" The Devil argued, but suddenly he gets another idea.
"Hmm, you still wanna make things interesting huh? What else is on the line?" The Devil asked with a menacing grin.
"You get to serve me during my all-expense paid trip!" Henchman said excitedly.
"Deal." The Devil smirked and shook hands with Henchman.
"Remember what I said: No Cheatin'!"
"Why Henchman, you don't trust me, do you?" The Devil pretended to feel insulted.
Henchman gave him a distrustful look.
"Ouch." The Devil said sarcastically.
Meanwhile back at the surface, Rose and William manage to find Cuphead at the ancient ring of stones.
"Cuphead! There you are!" Rose exclaimed.
"Rose! Will! What are you guys doing?" Cuphead asked.
"Looking for you! We can use the pitchfork to get down there!" William explained.
"Yeah, Quadratus told me that! But I have to master it in 1,000 years!" Cuphead groaned.
"Wait, who's Quadratus?" William asked.
"Huh?" Rose asked.
Rose looked into the pool of water and noticed Quadratus and gasped at the sight of him.
"What is it honey?" William asked.
Rose pointed at the water and William looked and immediately saw Quadratus and gasped too.
"I am Quadratus the Great and Wise! Come closer young humans so I may advise." Quadratus introduced himself.
"Uh, hello sir. The Devil's taken my parents to blackmail my sister into marrying him. Can you please help us?" Rose asked.
"Your parents and younger sister are in trouble; for if she agrees to marry him, her torment will more than double." Quadratus said to the couple.
"Ugh! Is there another way to get down there? Gwen's already surrendered herself to the Devil! I won't let that monster marry my sister!" Rose said frustratingly.
"I was explaining the 'Ancient Contract of Pitchfork Ownership' Rose Mary Emmons. Finders keepers! Losers Weepers!" Quadratus explained.
"Wait a minute, Cuphead was the one who found it, so that means he has to make a deal if he wants it back, right?" William figured it out.
"That's right William Robert Smith. Cuphead, show them the magic chalk!" Quadratus yelled as Cuphead held up a magic chalk to Rose and William.
Meanwhile down in Hell, Mugman along with Edgar and Margarine were released from their restraints and play marbles together.
"You know Mugman, I feel guilty for almost putting Gwen through that arranged marriage with that man we didn't realize was a conman and I threatened to disown her. I didn't really mean it when I said that. I couldn't control my temper when I should have. And I was so afraid to have our family in poverty I didn't realize how miserable I was making Gwen." Edgar expressed his remorse for his actions.
Mugman held his hands and smiled.
"It's not too late to make things right between you and Gwen, Ed. After all, she is your daughter, and you should love her equally like you do with Rose and let Gwen follow her own path that makes her happy. Plus let her find her own love when fate decides she's ready." Mugman assured Edgar.
"I share some blame too Mugman. I was there for her but then when the Depression happened back home, I also was afraid for our daughters I too lost sight of Gwen's happiness." Margarine also expressed guilt.
Mugman held her hands and said,
"It's not too late to correct your mistakes and fix your broken bond with Gweny." Mugman said with a smile.
Edgar and Margarine looked at each other and then at Mugman and Edgar said,
"You know what? You're right my boy. If we ever get out of here, we're going to make things right with our daughter."
"That's right, things are going to be different between us. Thank you Mugman." Margarine added.
Both parents and Mugman hug each other.
Just then the Devil came out of his office and turned up the flames around the dungeon. Margarine and Edgar held each other while Mugman kept playing with marbles. The Devil tries to break Mugman's spirit, but to no avail and turns the heat off, accidentally killing a slave in the process. Edgar and Margarine release each other and rejoin Mugman with marbles. The Devil tried lying to Mugman about his brother not coming to save him and that it's been 80 years since he was brought down here, but once again failed.
Feeling fed up, Edgar stood up and said,
"Leave the boy alone you monster! We've been here since this morning and if Mugman says Cuphead is coming, then he's coming!"
The Devil glared at Edgar and said,
"I didn't ask you Mr. Practical Tightwad! Are you and your dear wife Mrs. Goody Two-Shoes ready to give me your blessing to marry your daughter… who is your least favorite? In fact, why should you both care if I take her away, marry her and have her spend all eternity here with me?" The Devil taunted.
"Because we won't make our daughter suffer again! We never meant for any of this to happen to her!" Edgar protested as Margarine stood up and held her husband's hand.
"If you think we're ever going to give you our blessing to marry her, think again! The answer is no! That's final!" Margarine added.
The Devil growled furiously and roared.
Meanwhile, Rose and William help Cuphead summon the elevator with the chalk and the elevator appeared after reciting the incantation:
'Surface world, I'll see you later. Down I go in this elevator'.
Cuphead tries to get his tandem bike in until William helps stand it up. Afterwards, Rose and William join Cuphead in the elevator.
"I can't believe we're doing this before our wedding." Rose said.
"We'll be home in time with everyone home, I promise. This'll be a great story to tell our kids someday." William assured her.
"Oh! Rose Mary Emmons!" Quadratus called.
"Yes, sir?" Rose asked.
"Always remember this my child: If you truly love your sister, never give up on her. Your sisterly love is strong, remind Gwendolyn that." Quadratus advised her.
"I won't give up on her! I lost her once, I'm not gonna lose her again!" Rose responded.
"Well, here goes nothing." Cuphead said and closed the door and pushed the down button and the elevator disappeared into the ground.
"Don't worry Gwen, we're coming!" Rose said with determination.
They appear in Hell into the throne room and Cuphead, Rose and William walk out with the bike as the humans looked around in fascination and horror, past the tapestries of the Devil torturing souls.
"Yikes." Cuphead said, looking at the tapestries.
"Oh wow, so this is what the underworld looks like." Rose said.
"I know, and it's really hot down here just like the bible said!" William complained about the heat.
"Amen Will! Ugh! Why is so hot down here?" Cuphead also complained.
"Cuphead… It's Hell, remember?" Rose reminded him.
"Oh, right." Cuphead answered.
Just then, they notice two guards at a door not far from the throne room and were holding the magic inkwell and ink pen. The trio hide behind a rock.
"Hmm, Gwen's gotta be in there!" Rose whispered as she figured it out.
"But how do we get rid of them?" William whispered.
"I got this."
Cuphead said and raised the pitchfork and blasted the guards with the fire blast attack. The guards were piles of ashes but the magic inkwell and ink pen were still intact. Rose and William stared at Cuphead at what he did in shock.
"Oops! Sorry, that was an accident!"
Cuphead said but accidentally shoots the door and blasted it to dust. Gwen wakes up from the explosion and gets out of bed. She runs outside the door and saw the deceased guards and grabs the inkwell and ink pen. Gwen gasped at the sight of the trio.
"Gwen!" Rose whispered-yelled.
"Rose! William! Cuphead!" Gwen whispered-yelled and ran up to Rose and embraced each other.
"Oh sis, I was so worried! Don't you ever do that again! But I'm so happy you're safe!"
Rose scolded Gwen but calmed down. William hugged the sisters and Cuphead smiled. Gwen looked at Cuphead, hugged him and asked,
"Hey buddy, how did you guys get here?"
"Had a little help from Quadratus." Cuphead explained.
"Oh right. And he was once again right to tell me to put my trust in my friends as you guys trust me." Gwen said with a smile.
"We met Quadratus, he helped us get down here. He said to tell you that our sister bond is strong. I'm not giving up on you, ever." Rose explained as Gwen smiled.
"Are you alright Gwen? You didn't say 'yes' to his marriage proposal, did you?" William asked.
"I'm alright, it's just that he tried giving me flowers, chocolates and stupid love notes! But other than that, he didn't propose to me yet." Gwen explained frustratingly.
"Phew!" Rose sighed of relief.
"By the way, I know where Mugman and our parents are." Gwen said, remembering their loved ones.
"You do Gweny?" Cuphead asked excitedly.
"Yes, follow me but you've all got to keep quiet!" Gwen warned them.
They all hear the Devil yelling and Gwen gestured them to be quiet and snuck over to the tunnel that lead to the dungeon. Cuphead leans the tandem bike against a pilar and they sneak down the tunnel and quietly opened the door and walked in. Edgar and Margarine look up and both gasped at the sight of their daughters while Cuphead and Mugman hug each other happily.
"Mama! Papa!" Gwen said with tears in her eyes.
"You're both alive!" Rose added tearfully.
"Gwen! Rose!"
Both parents said at once. They stood up and all embraced each other tearfully. Rose and William held each other, seeing her family united at last. The cups hug Gwen and her parents as she felt joy in her heart again.
"I'm so sorry Mugsy…" Cuphead tried to apologize.
"I'm so sorry Gwen! I didn't mean what I said…"
Edgar tried to apologize until Mugman shushed both of them and all looked up to see the Devil and Henchman arguing about his attempt at cheating.
"Okay, the family's back together again! Now come on everyone! We must hurry back to the elevator!"
Rose whispered to the group and quietly sneak off to the door. Mugman says goodbye to the prisoner next to him and he screamed in agony.
But suddenly Henchman spots the group struggling to open the door and tries to warn his boss, but at first scolded Henchman for interrupting him. Henchman turned his boss around and finally sees the Emmons family, William and the cups closing the door. Gwen magically locks the door just in case to hold off the Devil.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!" The Devil roared and ran off after them after realizing he can't teleport.
The Devil runs up to the door and tried to open it. But he realized it was locked and screamed in agony. Meanwhile the family and cups were still walking.
"Anyway Gwen, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean what I said about disowning you, I couldn't control myself. And I was wrong to put you up with that arranged marriage." Edgar apologized.
Gwen's eyes popped and asked,
"Really papa? You really mean that?"
"Of course, I do. I promise Gwen, things are gonna be different between us." Edgar said to Gwen.
"That's right dear. I too am sorry for not being there for you when I should have." Margarine apologized.
Gwen smiled and held her parents close and kept walking.
"So, you met my best friends? Cuphead and Mugman?" Gwen asked.
"Oh yes, we met Mugman and he told us everything you've been doing." Margarine explained.
"Everything?" Gwen asked nervously.
"Yes, we know about the magic inkwell and the adventures you and the boys had together." Edgar answered.
"And Rose, why didn't you tell us you found Gwen and this world?" Margarine asked Rose.
"I'm so sorry mama, William and I were going to tell you but you both were gone this morning! We had no idea you were both kidnapped!" Rose apologized.
"I found the note in the house earlier and we learned the Devil brought you both here and threatened Gwen to surrender or else he would kill you both." William added.
"He was lying. That fat imp said that it was against the rules to harm a human or even kidnap people and bring them down here!" Edgar explained.
Gwen and Rose couldn't believe what they just heard. Gwen felt anger towards the Devil and said,
"I promise I'm gonna make that heartless monster regret all of this!"
"That's our Gwen. Isn't this great everyone? We're all one big happy family." Said Mugman as he held Margarine's hand.
"Yeah, any family of Gwen's is family of ours!" Cuphead added as he held Edgar's hand.
Gwen, Rose and William smiled at their cup friends until suddenly they heard the door burst open from the Devil's fiery temper.
"Hey! Get back here! I kidnapped all of you fair and square!" The Devil yelled as he ran after the group.
"RUN!" Gwen yelled.
They all make a run for it as fast as they could. Mugman briefly slows him down with his bag of marbles. Gwen uses her ink pen and fired her cyan beam attack at the Devil. The cups get on the tandem bike while Gwen says to William and Rose,
"Alright everyone, we don't have much time! While the Devil chases me and my friends, you get to the elevator and get out! Send the elevator back down when you reach the surface so we'll meet up with you!"
"No Gwen! We're not going to lose you again!" Edgar protested.
"You won't papa, he can't catch me! Now go!" Gwen argued as she creates a bicycle for herself.
"I'm going with you sis!" Rose said, choosing to stay with Gwen.
"No Rose! He'll kill you! He never liked following rules!" Gwen argued.
"Not with you protecting me! I'm not losing you to that monster again!" Rose assured her.
Gwen reluctantly tuned her bicycle into a tandem bike as William takes Edgar and Margarine down the hall and to the elevator, activate it and return to the surface. During that time, Rose sat in the front while Gwen sat behind.
"I'll drive, you shoot!" Rose said.
Gwen nodded, turned around and saw the Devil chasing them.
"Come on Mugsy, Gweny hurry!" Cuphead yelled as he and Mugman jumped on their tandem bike.
Gwen armed herself with the ink pen and fired her range of attacks she learned from all the friends and foes she made. Mugman looked behind him and realized the Devil was catching up.
"Faster!" Mugman yelled.
The cups and sisters pedaled as fast as they could until Mugman pointed and yelled,
"Look out!"
Cuphead hits a rock and accidentally blew a hole in the wall, releasing lava. The Devil roared, shapeshifted into his giant dragon and flew after the cups and sisters, chasing them past various pillars in different forms until he turned back into a dragon. Cuphead accidentally tripped on a crack and accidentally blasted the tapestries on fire.
"My paintings!" The Devil yelled.
Cuphead notices this, laughed and says,
"Hey, Mugsy. Watch this!"
Cuphead turned around and fired the pitchfork at the Devil. But he dodges his attack, causing his throne to be blown to ashes.
"My throne! I just had that reupholstered!"
The Devil yelled until he felt a fire blast blown at his chest.
"Ow! That really hurt!" The Devil said in pain.
Gwen fired a fireball blast at the Devil's head.
"Ow! That really hurt more!" The Devil yelled in pain and growled in anger.
They kept riding until they reach the soul tubes area.
"Hey! What are all these tubes?" Cuphead asked.
"They're all coming from up there!" Mugman pointed up to the ceiling where the pipes led to the surface.
Gwen and Rose looked up in horror at the souls being stolen.
"Oh my gosh, they're full of souls!" Cuphead realized.
"That's right Cuphead! I've seen these soul tubes the night I first escaped this place!" Gwen said.
The Devil shapeshifted into a giant bull and charged after the cups and sisters. The Devil knocked them with his enormous horns up onto the pipes.
"Cuphead!" Mugman yelled as Cuphead was knocked off the bike and runs along the tube.
"Will you quit fooling around get back on the bike?!" Mugman yelled.
"Easy for you to say!" Rose yelled from behind.
"Hey! Get off those tubes! They lead to my…!"
The Devil yelled until he slams into the soul vault.
"…Soul vault." The Devil finished wearily.
Souls started escaping to the Devil's horror.
"Not again!" The Devil yelled as he struggles to capture them.
"Curse these hooves!" The Devil yelled.
Then he shapeshifted into a giant octopus and snatches a handful of souls.
"Serves you right you big jerk!" Cuphead taunted.
"Yeah!" Gwen agreed.
Cuphead blows up the pipes, releasing the souls back to the surface.
"What are you doing?!" The Devil yelled.
Gwen decided to help Cuphead and fired her attacks at the pipes, freeing all the trapped souls. Gwen and Cuphead enjoyed freeing the souls to get back at the Devil.
"Be free everyone!" Gwen yelled at the souls as they flew away.
"Stop that you rotten brat! You too little girl!" The Devil yelled.
Cuphead and Gwen free the remaining souls and Gwen looked down angrily at the Devil.
"You have taken something of great value to me! So, I shall take something of great value to you!" Gwen yelled angrily, using the Devil's own words against him.
"What are you doing?" Rose asked.
"I promised myself I'm gonna make him hate me so much he'll never want to marry me." Gwen answered.
The Devil yelled in frustration, causing him to loses his remaining souls. The Devil whined in agony and is now more furious than ever at Cuphead and Gwen.
"Uh oh! Time to go!" Cuphead said worryingly and rejoins Mugman on the bike.
"No kidding Cuphead! Let's go!"
Rose agreed as the cups and sisters ride down the pipes until they finally reach the ground and ride down a path.
Just then, they notice the elevator not far from them.
"There's the elevator! That's our ticket outta here!" Cuphead said.
Just then, William comes running towards the group, having returned to Hell.
"Hurry! Come on! Let's go!" William yelled
The cups and sisters ride up to the elevator with William following.
"I guess he has another elevator." William said.
Gwen magically makes their tandem bike disappear and help the cups squeeze their tandem bike in the elevator. They all get in, Cuphead closes the door, pressed the up button and they all sighed in relief.
"We made Mugsy! Gweny! Rosie! Will!" Cuphead exclaimed happily.
They all hug each other again as Mugman said,
"Thanks for rescuing me from eternal torment."
"No, thank you for saving my soul so many times."
Gwen smiled and said,
"I'm so proud of you Cuphead."
Gwen turned her attention to Rose and said,
"Hey listen, thanks for coming for me sis. That was really brave. You too Will."
Rose smiled and said,
"What else are sisters for?"
William smiled and held Rose.
"For you Gwen, anything." He said.
Just then, the group realized they were not moving at all.
"Wait, how come the elevator ain't moving?" Cuphead asked.
"Uh, guys?"
Rose fearfully asked, realizing the walls were coming down.
"Wait a minute, this elevator's a fake!" Gwen suddenly realized.
Gwen and Rose fearfully hug each other as they look around their strange new surroundings as the walls fell down.
"Please don't tell me we are where I think we are?!" William said as he noticed giant teeth surrounding the group.
They all looked around and realized too late they were inside the Devil's mouth, on his tongue.
"I'm sorry Will, but we are!" Gwen said with her voice breaking in fear.
Mugman and Rose screamed at the Devil in his giant size, having trapped them in his mouth.
"You porcelain-headed idiots! And you pitiful humans!" The Devil boomed.
Rose was knocked backwards and was about to fall down his throat to her death as she screamed.
"ROSE! NO!" Gwen yelled in horror.
She quickly runs and made a great leap of faith and grabbed her sister's hand and grabbed onto the Devil's uvula before Rose fell down the Devil's throat and eaten alive.
"Sis! Help me! Don't let me go!" Rose yelled tearfully.
"I'm here sis! I'm never letting you go again!" Gwen tearfully assured her.
Gwen struggles to hold Rose as she was slipping off the uvula until William runs up to the sisters and yelled,
"Gwen! Swing her to me! I'll catch her! And I'll catch you too! You can do it Gwen!"
William reaches his arms towards Rose.
"Sis! I'm gonna swing you over to Will! Get ready to jump!" Gwen said.
"Okay! Okay!" Rose fearfully answered.
Gwen started swinging Rose over the throat. Rose briefly looked down and screamed.
"Don't look down! Now, stay with me honey! Stay with me! Keep your eyes on me!" William assured her.
"Okay, on three! One! Two!" Gwen said until she yelled,
"THREE!"
Gwen swings Rose as hard as she could until finally she swung hard enough and released Rose. William catches his fiancée and pulled her to safety on the tongue. Rose and William hug as she felt relieved.
Gwen sighed of relief, seeing her sister safe.
"Okay Gwen! Your turn! Just jump off! I'll catch you!" William yelled at her, reaching his hands for her next.
Gwen prepares herself, and as hard as she could, she jumped off the uvula and William pulls Gwen to safety and all hug each other.
"Let's get outta here!" Cuphead yelled.
They all ran towards the opening of the Devil's mouth.
The five quickly jump out his mouth and fall down as the Devil failed to eat them again. Gwen is falling towards sharp rocks to her death. Cuphead along with Rose and William ride the Devil's pitchfork and fly down to Gwen and Mugman to catch them. Rose reached her hand out to Gwen while William held her to prevent her from falling off the pitchfork. Suddenly, Mugman is swooped up in the Devil's fist. Before Gwen could reach for Rose's hand, she is snatched into the Devil's other fist as he grasped her inside his hand, preventing her from escaping.
"No! Let me out! Let me out!" Gwen yelled as she attacked at his fingers, but to no avail.
The Devil laughed evilly and said,
"There's no escape this time my queen!"
Cuphead and Rose gasped at the Devil capturing Mugman and Gwen.
"Gwen! No!" Rose yelled as William helped her back up on the pitchfork.
Then the Devil yelled at Cuphead,
"Now give me back my pitchfo-"
The Devil started choking on the tandem bike and pulled it out of his mouth and tossed it down to the ground.
"Ew!" William said in disgust.
"Now give me back my pitchfork!" The Devil yelled again.
"Hmm, I don't think so. I found it fair and square." Cuphead answered.
The Devil growled furiously and squeezed Mugman in his fist.
"Cuphead!" Yelled Mugman.
"Cuphead! Do as he says for crying out loud!" Gwen yelled from inside his hand.
"Hey! Leave my brother and Gwen out of this! You know the rules of pitchfork ownership!" Cuphead pointed out.
The Devil gasped and said,
"Finders keepers."
"Losers weepers." Cuphead finished.
Rose angrily nodded as William glared at him.
The Devil groaned and shrunk back to his regular size wrapping his arm around Gwen and hung Mugman from his other hand. Cuphead, Rose and William fly down to the ground.
"Yeah that's right, you want this back? You gotta make a deal." Cuphead added. Rose angrily folded her arms.
The Devil sighed and said,
"I suppose I have no choice. Give me my pitchfork and you can have your annoying brother."
"Ahem!"
Rose angrily said as she cracked her knuckles, preparing for a fight and payback for trying to eat her.
"Ugh! Fine! And my fiancée! Trade on three?" The Devil reluctantly agreed.
"Trade on three." Cuphead agreed.
The Devil and Cuphead argue if they should trade on three or after three until Mugman yelled,
"Will you just do the trade already?!"
"Yeah!" Gwen agreed.
"Okay! Okay!" Both of them said.
"One…" The Devil said.
"Two…" Cuphead said.
"Three!"
Both said and the Devil threw Mugman and Gwen to Cuphead and Rose. Cuphead threw the pitchfork to the Devil.
Rose and Gwen embraced each other and William hugged both sisters again. Cuphead holds Mugman in his arms and said,
"Hey buddy! Welcome back!"
"Welcome back sis." Rose said to Gwen.
"Thanks sis. I owe this all to you." Gwen said back.
"Alright, the deal is done. Now, get out!" The Devil said.
"Geez. Mr. Grumps over here." Cuphead taunted.
"Somebody needs a nap." Mugman taunted too.
Gwen, Rose and William laugh at the Devil as he furiously yelled,
"I said… GET OUT!"
The cups ride the tandem bike out of the gates of Hell with the sisters and William riding on a three-seat tandem bike right behind them quickly.
They ride back into the forest as Mugman scolded Cuphead,
"Well, I hope you learned something from all this!"
"Yeah Cuphead!" Gwen agreed.
"Believe me Mugsy, Gweny. This guy's on the straight and narrow, starting right... now." Cuphead said.
"Phew! That's music to my ears. So, uh, now that you don't owe the Devil your soul anymore, what are you gonna do next?"
"Hmm." Cuphead thought for a moment.
Later, the humans and cups meet up with Margarine and Edgar at the ancient ring of stones. They all embrace each other, finally free from the Devil.
Afterwards, they all head to the restored Carnevil and Cuphead is on a winning streak once again at Soul Ball with a crowd cheering him. Mugman fainted, disappointed that Cuphead clearly didn't learn his lesson.
Later that day back at the cottage, Gwen introduced her parents to Elder Kettle and befriend each other. Afterwards, Gwen showed her parents the two door portals to travel between worlds. One to their house and the other to Rose and William's house. Gwen explained that she desires to stay in the Inkwell Isles with her best friends but will keep contact with her family.
"Mama, papa. we'll keep in touch. You could just come through the door portal me and the guys set up outside the house." Gwen said.
"There are no goodbyes with us dear. We'll come visit and you come visit us. Including Sunday dinners, family events, emergencies and Rose's upcoming wedding." Margarine explained.
"I'm happy, knowing you are alive and out of the Devil's clutches." Edgar said.
"If he ever shows his ugly face again, I'll be ready." Gwen said determined.
"If he does sis, we're with you to the end. You put yourself on the line and saved my life. I'll never forget that." Rose said with a smile.
"You saved me too sis. You and Will came for me after I've given up on myself. Thanks for not giving up on me." Gwen thanked Rose and both hugged each other.
Afterwards, it was time for Rose, William, Margarine and Edgar to head on home back to the human world.
"Oh, Gwen dear, would you come with us in the house for a moment? I have something to show you." Edgar asked Gwen.
"Oh, okay papa."
Gwen said and she and her family with Cuphead and Mugman tagging along travel through the door and back into the human world. They go inside the house and Edgar brings Gwen into his study and surprises her with brand-new art supplies.
"Oh papa! You didn't have to!"
Gwen was surprised and tears came down her face.
"No dear, I wanted to. It's the least I could do to make it up to you after what I did. I didn't really mean what I said either." Edgar said, feeling guilty for his actions.
"It's alright papa, let it be water under the bridge." Gwen said, forgiving him and gives him a hug while Rose and Margarine watch happily.
Later that evening, there was a celebration at the Emmons residence with their extended family and friends embracing Gwen being found at last. Cuphead and Mugman along with Elder Kettle get acquainted with Gwen's family. Cuphead shows off his Soul Ball skills to human children while Mugman watched fearfully. Gwen was happy that peace was restored in her family.
Afterwards, everyone leaves and it was time for Elder Kettle, the cups and Gwen to return home.
"Oh Gwen! Sunday dinner at five! Don't be late!" Edgar reminded Gwen.
"I won't forget papa! The cottage is open to you all! Day or night! Love you all!"
Gwen and her second family return to the cottage that night and all head upstairs to bed. Gwen slept peacefully, knowing she and her family were finally at peace.
Just then, a note magically appears in her room and Gwen takes notice. She grabs the note, opens it and reads,
"Don't think this ends here my beautiful flower. And don't think you've gotten out of this marriage that easily. You and your family and friends may have won this time, but mark my words, I will be back for you when the time comes! I may have not gotten your parent's blessing, but I will find another way to rightfully marry you! Until then, your future husband the Devil."
Gwen felt anger, knowing he was still determined to win her heart. She puts her invisible sweater back on, arms herself with her ink pen and goes back to sleep, ready to fight the Devil if he showed his face to her again.
