Sometime had passed since the Devil warned Gwen about finding out the truth about Ms. Chalice. Gwen had been in a depression, being stuck with not saying a word to her friends and family about Ms. Chalice and what she learned. Gwen tries to stay focused at work, but her boss Rumor Honeybottoms becomes concerned and askes for Gwen to come into her office,

"You wanted to see me ma'am?" Gwen asked, trying to be professional.

"Sugar, is everything okay? You haven't been yourself lately. Is something on your mind?" Rumor asked.

"Nothing's wrong ma'am. It's just that stuff's been going on lately and still trying to sort things out." Gwen lied.

"Honey, you don't fool me for a second. Whatever's going on with you is affecting your work lately." Rumor admitted.

"Am I fired ma'am?" Gwen nervously asked.

"What? No dearie, you're not fired. I'm just gonna send you home for a while. I'll give you a 'Leave of Absence' for a week to sort out your depression." Rumor explained.

"Okay, I'll try." Gwen reluctantly agrees and shakes hands with Rumor.

Gwen goes back into her office, grabs her satchel, taps her ink pen and disappears from the Honeycomb Herald. She appears outside the cottage and sadly walks past the goat eating grass. Gwen opens the door as Elder Kettle was reading the newspaper. He peeks up and notices Gwen entering the cottage.

"Gwen, you're home early today. Is everything alright?" Elder Kettle asked her, concerned.

"Everything's fine. Rumor Honeybottoms has given me a 'leave of absence' for a week." Gwen explained.

"You wanna talk Gwen? You haven't been yourself lately ever since you and the boys came home after I came home with the goat with no memory of how I got in the city." Elder Kettle expressed his concern.

"No thanks, I'm fine. I'm just gonna go in my room and lay down for a while." Gwen said, trying to avoid telling him what happened.

Gwen goes upstairs to her room and closes the door. Elder Kettle sat there, worrying for Gwen. Elder Kettle decided to pay Rose and William a visit. He goes through the door portal to their house and knocks at their front door.

William answers the door and says,

"Hey, Elder Kettle! Come on in."

"Thank you my boy." Elder Kettle said as he enters their home and William has Elder Kettle sit in a recliner.

Rose comes in with her daughter and son in her arms.

"Oh, hi Elder Kettle!" Rose said happily.

"Hello my dear. How are the little ones doing?" Elder Kettle asked.

"Oh, they're getting to be a handful but what do you expect? We love them dearly." Rose admitted.

"Aw how sweet." Elder Kettle said.

"You wanna hold them?" Rose asked.

"Sure dear. They might as well get to know me." Elder Kettle said as he reached his arms out to the twins.

Rose hands Emma and Jack to Elder Kettle and he soothes them in his arms. Rose sits on the couch as William says,

"I'm gonna wash their bottles."

"Okay honey." Rose said as William leaves into the kitchen.

"So, how's everything?" Rose asked.

"I'm worried for your sister Gwen." Elder Kettle confessed.

Rose's eye's widened.

"Is she alright? Can you tell me what's going on?" Rose asked, concerned for Gwen.

"I don't know. She hasn't been herself lately. She won't talk to anyone. Her boss just recently sent her home with a 'leave of absence' for a week to sort things out. Now Gwen's in her room and me and the boys are worried for her. So, I thought it'd be best if I came to you since you've known her longer than I have and maybe talk to her." Elder Kettle explained.

"Oh my. I'm glad you came to me. I'll talk to her. You said she's in her room right now?" Rose asked as she stood up.

"Yes dear. I'll watch your kids with William." Elder Kettle offered.

"Thank you Elder Kettle." Rose said as she heads to the door portal.

"Will! I'm going over to the cottage! Be back in a while!" Rose called out.

"Okay honey!" William called from the kitchen.

Rose steps through the door portal and into the cottage. She goes upstairs to Gwen's room and knocks. No one answers. Rose invites herself inside and sees Gwen lying in bed, all sad and depressed.

"Gwen?" Rose asked.

"Hey sis." Gwen quietly said.

Rose sits down next to Gwen on her bed.

"What happened Gwen? This isn't about your job; it's the Devil again isn't it?" Rose asked, figuring it out.

Gwen cringed, realizing she can't fool Rose.

"I-it's complicated." Gwen struggled to speak.

"If he's hurting you again, let me help. You know I'm always here to help you." Rose said as she put her hand on Gwen's shoulder.

Gwen shuddered until she got up and sat next to Rose and finally confessed,

"You wanna know what happened? I learned the truth about Ms. Chalice. She's in debt with the Devil because he saved her life because of a deal she made with him and got her ghost powers. I did something I shouldn't have with the magic inkwell. I used it to look into the past and learned about her childhood, her death, her deal with the devil and learning what she was doing in Hell that day at Inkwell Pier. He wants her to cash in on the favor she owes him and wants her to betray me and the cups!"

Rose's eyes widened and her mouth hung open.

"Are you serious? Chalice is in debt with the Devil and he's planning to have her betray you and the cups somehow?" Rose asked.

"That's not all. I thought I could stop this until the Devil found out what I was doing and warned me of dire consequences coming soon. I don't know what they are but I'm scared. He also warned me not to say anything to anyone. He's gonna do something and I can't protect anyone. Everyone here trusts me and something bad's gonna happen all because of me!"

Gwen yelled as she hung her head in her hands crying.

Rose hugged her sister and said,

"Gwen, you would never hurt anyone. Only the Devil is capable of doing that. You didn't ask for any of this to happen. But we need to think of something to be ready for him and Chalice. Does she even want to betray you and the cups?" Rose asked.

"I don't think she does. She looked like she doesn't want to from what I saw." Gwen recalled Ms. Chalice's reaction to the Devil's requested favor.

"Then maybe she really is our friend. We can help her. We faced the Devil before, we can do it again." Rose assured her as she gave Gwen a tissue to wipe her tears.

"Y-you really think there's a chance?" Gwen asked.

"There's always a chance Gwen." Rose answered.

"But, what are we gonna do? I already said this to you. We need to keep it a secret so the Devil doesn't know and do whatever he's planning." Gwen makes Rose promise.

"Don't worry, we'll plan this together and be ready for them." Rose assured her.

"By the way, who's watching your kids?" Gwen asked.

"Don't worry, they're fine. Elder Kettle and William are watching them. They're in good hands." Rose answered.

"Oh good." Gwen sighed of relief.

"Since you now have a week off, we're gonna make this time count to plan everything." Rose explained her plan.

"Okay Rose, if you think we can do this." Gwen said, starting to feel better.

"I don't think can… I know we can." Rose corrected her.

Gwen hugged Rose and both head downstairs to do some planning.

Later, Rose and Gwen discuss some possibilities and ideas.

"Tomorrow, the guys and are heading to the arcade to play games and win some prizes. Maybe I could convince Cuphead to win Chalice a present to show her we still think of her as a friend?" Gwen suggested.

"That's a great idea Gwen. William and I will be on our guard and keep an eye out for anything suspicious. If we do this, we'll be doing you, the cups and Chalice a huge favor. And I'll have finally repaid you for saving my life months ago." Rose said.

"Thanks sis. You're the best." Gwen said and hugged her sister.

"What else are sisters for?" Rose answered.

Rose returned home later and Elder Kettle came home and is relieved to see Gwen feeling better. The cups come home from playing in the woods and invite Gwen to go play at her training grounds. Gwen takes up on their offer and practices some more training to prepare herself for the Devil while the cups beat up her Devil-dummies. They have dinner and head off to bed.

Down in the depths of Hell that night, the Devil is exhausted from dancing with Ms. Chalice and sends her away so he could rest. He sits on throne to rest, then resumes his new plan to marry Gwen. He knew he already tried to use her parents and threatened to kill them until Gwen rescued them and learned that he lied about killing them since Henchman pointed out that he is forbidden from harming a human.

"Hmm, alright. Time to put my plan into action."

The Devil said. The Devil lifted his pitchfork and disappeared. He appears in Rose and William's house in the human world in the middle of the night. He hears a baby making a noise, getting his attention. He quietly goes upstairs, into an open bedroom and noticed the baby crib. He leans over and looks down in the crib and saw Rose and William's newborn infants Emma and Jack sleeping. He smiled evilly, placed his pitchfork next to the crib and quietly said,

"You two are coming with me."

He reaches his hands into the crib, gently scoops Emma and Jack up in his arms. He grabbed his pitchfork, tapped it and disappeared with the twins in tow. He appears back in Hell with Emma and Jack in the throne room. Henchman gives a shocked look and asked,

"Boss? What are you doing? Why did you bring the babies here? "

"I told you Henchman; these two helpless infants will be better bait to make Gwen accept my marriage proposal. And I warned her not to have discovered the inkwell's power to look into the past. This is the consequence she's going to face."

"But boss, you can't harm a human, especially babies! It's against the rules!" Henchman reminded him.

"Ehm, excuse me!" A familiar nasally voice called. Stickler appeared with his rule book.

The Devil cringed as he sternly asked,

"What now Stickler?!"

"I am afraid my colleague here is correct. According to the bylaws of paragraphs three through eight, subsection 14b, you are strictly prohibited from hurting or killing a human being. I need to remind you that you nearly broke that rule when you almost devoured the twin infant's mother." Stickler explained, showing the rule book.

"Ugh! Don't remind me! She told me she still has nightmares about it while she was beating me up at her wedding!" The Devil said frustratingly.

Just then, Emma and Jack started crying. The Devil's eyes popped and cringed.

"Ugh! These brats won't shut up!"

"No boss, they're not brats. They're crying because they want something. Maybe they're hungry or something?" Henchman tried to calm his boss.

The Devil sighed and said,

"Fine!"

He makes two baby bottles full of milk appear and float in the air.

"Uh boss, you gotta feed them. Hold the bottle up diagonally and make sure they don't eat too fast." Henchman corrected him.

"Help me then! I can't feed both at once!" The Devil ordered him.

"Duh, okay boss. Give me the boy." Henchman asked to hold Jack.

The Devil hands Jack to Henchman while he focused on Emma. Both demons grab a bottle and started feeding the twins. After a few minutes, the twins started crying again, making the Devil lose patience again as Henchman quickly said,

"Uh, uh, uh boss! You gotta burp them by gently patting their backs. But hold her head boss."

The Devil groaned, then he lifted Emma, held her head and started patting her back but nothing happens.

"Why isn't she burping?!" The Devil asked impatiently.

"Keep going boss. But don't get mad at her." Henchman encouraged him.

The Devil resumes patting Emma's back until finally, she burped only to throw up on the back of the Devil's shoulder. The Devil shuddered in disgust and was about to lose his temper until Henchman stopped him and said,

"No boss. You can't get mad at her, remember?"

"GRRR!"

The Devil growled as he handed Emma to Stickler while he cleaned himself off. The Devil takes Jack from Henchman and patted his back next until he burped and threw up on the Devil. The Devil was about to explode fire until Henchman said as he took Emma from Stickler,

"Remember boss, don't get mad."

The Devil growled again as he handed Jack to Stickler and once again cleaned himself off. The twins started crying again as the Devil cringed.

"Uh, boss. I think they're ready for their beddie-bye." Henchman said in a cute baby-talk way as he tickled under Emma's chin.

"Might I suggest putting them to bed?" Stickler added.

The Devil groaned and magically made a crib appear and was about to put Emma and Jack to bed.

"Em, you're supposed to rock them and sing them to sleep before you put them to bed." Stickler pointed out, holding a book entitled Baby Care.

The Devil sighed and said,

"Fine!"

He makes a rocking chair appear, takes Jack from Stickler and Emma from Henchman, sat down and started rocking both infants. He impatiently sings Brahms's Cradle Song until Henchman interrupted again,

"Uh, uh, uh boss. Gently sing to them and calmly."

The Devil sighed and tried to sing the Cradle Song again quieter and this time, Emma and Jack calm down and finally fall asleep. Henchman takes Jack, places him in the crib and goes back his boss to put Emma in the crib. He gives them a goodnight kiss to both of them and covered them in a blanket.

"Aw, they sure are cute when they're asleep, aren't they boss?" Henchman whispered.

"Yeah, sure, whatever."

The Devil whispered quietly as he, Henchman and Stickler sneak quietly away to let the twins sleep. After they sneak into the Devil's bedroom and close the door, Stickler said,

"Masterfully done."

"Thank you Stickler. I'm getting the hang of fatherhood, aren't I?" The Devil bragged.

Henchman and Stickler looked at each other awkwardly and both nodded.

"Well, I'm going to bed. If they cry again, you both check on them! I need my beauty sleep!" The Devil said frustratingly as he put on his eye cover and goes to bed.

Henchman and Stickler shrugged and both leave the Devil's bedroom. They both head to the throne room to check on the twins.

"So, what are we gonna do when the boss puts his plan in motion?" Asked Henchman.

"I don't know, but I'll bet that this will be another failure waiting to happen." Stickler answered.

Just then, they hear Emma crying.

"Uh oh." Henchman said worryingly. The two imps go to the crib, Henchman picks up Emma, only to catch a whiff of something stinky.

"Uh oh! I think little Emma here needs to have her diaper changed!" Henchman said with a disgusted look.

"Not just her, the little boy Jack too." Stickler pointed to Jack, realizing he also needed his diaper changed.

"Aw jeez." Henchman said worryingly.

Stickler and Henchman take the babies, place them on a counter and undress them.

"After you Stickler." Henchman offered.

"No, after you." Stickler declined and offered.

"No, after you!" Henchman said sternly.

"No, after you!" Stickler argued.

"YOU TWO SHUT UP RIGHT NOW OR I WILL BURN YOU BOTH!" The Devil roared angrily then went back to sleep.

"Aw jeez. Well, looks like we're both doing this." Henchman said, not wanting to argue anymore.

"I agree. But I have a solution." Stickler agreed and pulled up a pair of gas masks and a pair of tongs.

They both get to work changing their diapers, cleaning them, putting baby powder on them and putting on clean diapers on them. They both sighed of relief after the job was done. Only then do then the twins started crying again. Henchman and Stickler each grabbed a baby and carry them to their crib. They both soothe the twins until they calm down and go back to sleep in the crib.

"Phew!" They both sighed of relief and both pass out on the floor, fast asleep.

In the morning, the Devil wakes up, wears his Devil-slippers and comes into the throne room for his morning coffee and donut. He notices Henchman and Stickler sleeping on the floor, snoring. Then he noticed the twins waking up and looking around.

"HENCHMAN! STICKLER! WAKE UP!" The Devil yelled.

Henchman and Stickler quickly wake up and stood up. Just then, Emma and Jack started crying from the Devil's yelling.

"Uh, boss, keep it down. Your yelling scared them." Henchman said as he and Stickler each pick up a baby and soothing them.

"Ugh! Fatherhood is harder than I thought! You two, take care of them!" The Devil said frustratingly as he went to sit on his throne.

Henchman and Stickler look at each other and muttered,

"I dunno."

So, they both got to work feeding Emma and Jack and burping them. They noticed the twins were a little dirty and decided to give them a bath. They go into the Devil's bathroom, turn on warm water and filled the sink to make a small bath. The imps undress the twins and place them in the bath and gently clean them. Emma and Jack happily slap the water, splashing Henchman and Stickler.

"Aw, they curious about the water." Henchman said as he wiped himself with a towel.

"Yes, they are still learning to get used to baths." Stickler pointed out as he wiped himself with a towel.

After bathing the twins, the two imps dry off the twins with towels, put clean diapers on them and both sit in rocking chairs and cuddling them. Emma reached and grabbed Henchman's nose.

"Oh, someone's got my nose!"

Henchman said in baby-talk and gently grabbed Emma's hand and let her hold his finger instead.

Jack reaches for Stickler's bowtie until he gently pushes his hand away. Instead, Stickler lets Jack grab his finger instead. Both Emma and Jack are finally relaxed and both fall asleep in their arms.

"D'aaw, look at them. They love us, don't they?" Henchman asked Stickler with a smile.

"It appears they have gotten used to us, thus showing us by relaxing in our arms." Stickler said.

Just then, Ms. Chalice returns to the Devil.

"Hey, hey Big D! Ready for another dance?" Ms. Chalice asked with a cute face.

"Of course, I am!" The Devil happily answered.

"Oh boy!" Henchman said.

He gets up from his rocking chair, takes Jack from Stickler and places the twins in a carriage. Then he sits on a rock with the twins next to him.

Ms. Chalice plays jazzy music from a phonograph and both the Devil and Ms. Chalice started dancing until the song ended.

"Yeah!" They both said as they held the finishing pose.

Henchman claps and cheered for them.

"Oh boy! What a show! Did you see them little ones?" Henchman asked the twins while applauded and whistled.

Ms. Chalice and the Devil laugh.

"Not too bad for an old guy. Pay attention and you might learn a few moves." Ms. Chalice said smugly.

"From you? Ha! Listen honey, everyone knows I'm the best dancer of all time." The Devil bragged.

"Whoever said that has never seen me." Ms. Chalice bragged back.

The Devil chuckled and said,

"Ridiculous. Now, what was it we were talking about? Oh, yes. That favor you owe me. I need you to betray your three best friends."

The Devil finished in his demonic voice.

"Oh yeah. Sure thing. Right after this next song." Ms. Chalice nervously said as she put a new record on the phonograph and played the next song.

"Oh! Okay! Maybe just one more." The Devil happily agreed.

Ms. Chalice goes up to the Devil and started tapping her feet.

"A one, two, three, four." Ms. Chalice counted.

"A five, six, seven, eight!" The Devil finished.

All of a sudden, the needled scratched to a stop.

"EHM! Excuse me!" Stickler called out, stopping the music.

"Productivity has plummeted for weeks. Too much singing. Too much dancing. As if taking care of the babies wasn't hard enough." Stickler complained as Henchman carrying Emma and Jack joined Stickler.

The Devil scoffed and said,

"What do you know Stickler? We're having fun. See? Even the little ones are having fun watching us."

The Devil noticed Emma and Jack smiling while Henchman cuddled them.

"Wait, aren't those Rose's children?! My girlfriend's niece and nephew?!" Ms. Chalice realized in horror.

"Oh yes Chalice, I brought them here last night to use them against Gwen." The Devil explained.

"Can't you see she's intentionally distracting you from your responsibilities?" Stickler pointed out.

"What?! No."

The Devil asked in shock and glared at Ms. Chalice as she chuckled nervously and shrugged.

The Devil gasped and grabbed his pitchfork, now getting serious.

"Well then, I guess playtime is over. Remind me, what happened to you before our deal?" The Devil asked.

"I, uh, got hit by a street car?" Ms. Chalice nervously answered.

"And, if we haven't made a deal, what kind of condition do you think you'd be in right now?" The Devil asked.

"Wha- What do you mean?" Ms. Chalice asked, now feeling scared.

"Well, let's just see what that might look like. Shall we?" The Devil asked as he aimed his pitchfork at Ms. Chalice.

He releases a black cloud with an evil face and consumes Ms. Chalice as she screamed. Then, the smoke cloud disappears. Suddenly, Ms. Chalice started cracking and her body started decaying as she screams weakly.

"Uh, jeez. This seems unnecessarily graphic." Henchman said nervously as he covered twins eyes while they were crying.

Finally, Ms. Chalice turns into dust and bones and is dead. The Devil picks up her skull and said,

"Alas, poor Chalice! I knew her well."

He drops her skull, snapped his fingers and resurrects Ms. Chalice back to life. She gasped for breath and yelled,

"I'll betray anybody you want!"

The Devil chuckled evilly as he escorts her to the elevator.

"That's more like it. Now, let's discuss the plan. And don't worry, the twins are going to be part of the plan too."

The Devil said as they get into the elevator. Henchman tags along carrying the twins inside and leave for the surface.

Meanwhile, back in the human world, Rose goes to check on her son and daughter. But to her horror, she finds them gone. Rose gasped and she desperately looked everywhere for them in the house, but were nowhere to be found. William comes downstairs and saw Rose in distress.

"Honey, what is it? What's wrong?" William asked.

"It's Emma and Jack! They're gone!" Rose fearfully answered.

"What?!" William's eyes widened.

"I've looked everywhere for them! They're missing!" Rose fearfully explained.

William thought for a moment and asked,

"Wait, you don't think it was…?"

Rose's eyes widened and realized immediately who was responsible for her children's disappearance.

"I'm going to find Gwen! She'll know how to reach him!" Rose said in a serious tone.

"I'm coming with you! I'm ready to give that monster a taste of my fist!"

Both Rose and William head through the door portal to find Gwen and have her aid them in their mission to rescue their children.
