One day in the Inkwell Isles, Gwen was feeling overwhelmed with planning her upcoming wedding with Clarence and keeping on her toes for the Devil. She decided she wanted to blow off some steam but wasn't sure how. While she sat on her bed thinking, her magic carpet Cerulean Bolt flew up to her and gestured her to get on.
"No, Cerulean Bolt, not now. I'm not in the mood." Gwen declined politely.
But Cerulean Bolt kept persisting until finally Gwen gives in.
"Oh, alright, but just for a while." Gwen reluctantly agrees.
She climbs on Cerulean Bolt while arming herself with ink pen and magic inkwell. Cerulean Bolt flew up to her window and opened it. He flew outside as Gwen magically closed the window. They flew up into the sky and traveled around the Inkwell Isles to explore. Gwen is in awe of the sights of areas she's never been before.
They explore an ancient ruin in the mountains where anthropomorphic goats, satyrs and smaller dragons lived. Next, they explore the cliffs and Gwen is in awe of the beauty of nature.
"Wow, these cliffs are really beautiful." Gwen said.
Suddenly, a large shadow covers Gwen and Cerulean Bolt. She looks up and catches sight what appeared to be a giant flying cuckoo-clock.
"Uh, a cuckoo-clock with wings? But how?" Gwen asked in confusion.
To her shock, a giant bird popped its head out of the clock and the pendulum was his feet in disguise. The bird looked down at Gwen and flew down after her.
Gwen gasped and yelled,
"Giant bird! Go! Go! Go!"
Cerulean Bolt flew fast, trying to outrun the giant bird. The giant bird reached his feet, trying to snatch Gwen. But Cerulean Bolt dove down just in time, saving Gwen.
"Nice move buddy! Now, get us outta here! I think we've done enough exploring today!" Gwen instructed.
Cerulean Bolt flew towards the direction of Inkwell City with the giant bird still chasing them. Gwen had to think fast to escape the giant bird without using violence. Cerulean Bolt flew in a zigzag like pattern to confuse the giant bird until finally, he turned a corner and the giant bird lost sight of them. The giant bird yelled and shot out blue feathers in fury.
Gwen and Cerulean Bolt peek from a large cloud, making sure he was gone. The giant bird flew away, continuing his search. Gwen sighed of relief.
"Alright buddy. Take us home." Gwen quietly instructed.
Cerulean Bolt flies back to Inkwell City until they finally reach back to the cottage. Gwen magically opens her bedroom window and they both enter her room. Gwen closes the window, and she sits on her bed, sighing of relief.
"Man, that was a close one! That bird could've been trying to eat me! He's not the first one who's ever tried to eat me!" Gwen said, remembering other times.
"I remember that monstrous candy castle, Cala Maria and that stupid megalodon!" Gwen said.
Cerulean Bolt sat next to her and patted her back.
"Thanks buddy. At least we're safe now." Gwen said, after calming down.
Later, Gwen joins her family for dinner.
"Here comes the bride!" Elder Kettle sang to Gwen.
Gwen giggled as her cup brothers laughed.
"Aw, thanks Elder Kettle." Gwen said bashfully.
Gwen and her family sit down for dinner and dine on beef and vegetable stew and a side of sourdough bread. After dinner, they sit down in the living room for radio time and tune into their favorite channel.
Just then, a newscaster interrupted.
"We interrupt this program for this newsflash! This just in, the giant bird known as Wally Warbles has just been sighted in the area! You are advised to stay indoors, bar your windows and lock your doors! He is known to be dangerous!" The newscaster announced.
Gwen's eyes widened, realizing Wally Warbles is the giant bird who chased her earlier.
"Wally Warbles? Who's he?" Gwen asked.
"Oh, he's that giant cuckoo bird who flies around the Inkwell Isles and terrorizes people." Elder Kettle answered.
"Why?" Gwen asked.
"Nobody knows dear. All we know is that he's dangerous." Elder Kettle said.
"Why would he have any reason to come here?" Cuphead asked.
"It's obvious to me that someone must've recently disturbed him in the cliffs." Elder Kettle assumed.
Gwen's eyes widened, fearing she may be responsible for disturbing Wally.
"Oh, I think that actually maybe my…" Gwen was about to confess until something started hitting the roof.
"What was that?!" Mugman cried.
"I think it's coming from outside!" Cuphead pointed up.
Suddenly, without warning, the roof of the cottage was ripped off, revealing Wally Warbles being responsible.
"Oh no! He found me!" Gwen exclaimed.
"Wait, you disturbed him, Gwen?!" Elder Kettle asked.
"No! I was just flying near the cliffs exploring and then he ambushed me!" Gwen fearfully explained.
"A little detail you could've mentioned earlier!" Mugman scolded.
"Everyone! To the cellar!" Elder Kettle called.
Everybody makes a run for the cellar, but Wally blocks their only exit. But before Gwen could make a run for it, she is suddenly snatched into Wally's talons and taken out of the cottage as Wally flies away.
"No! Let me go! I didn't do anything to you!" Gwen yelled as she struggled to break free.
After a while, Gwen realizes Wally was taking her back to the cliffs. Wally reaches a large cliff and lands safely with Gwen still trapped in his talons. He reaches his large beak down to Gwen and grabs the back of her dress and pulls her inside his cuckoo-clock armor. He gently places her down in his nest.
Gwen catches her breath after the long travel. She looked up at Wally, fearing she was going to be eaten for disturbing him.
"W-w-w-what do you want? If I'm the one who disturbed you, I'm sorry! It won't happen again!" Gwen pleaded.
Wally looked at her confused, then he shook his head.
"Wait, I didn't disturb you?" Gwen asked.
Wally shook his head, confirming her answer.
"But if I didn't disturb you, why were you chasing me? I did nothing to you!" Gwen asked.
Wally directed her attention to a little nest next to him. Gwen realized it was like her scenario with Grim Matchstick when he kidnapped her to ask for her help with his stolen baby.
"Wait a minute, you have a baby?" Gwen asked.
Wally nodded as Gwen took a closer look. She sees a name written on the nest saying 'Willy Warbles'.
"Willy Warbles. Is that your son?" Gwen asked.
Wally nodded and chirped.
"Where is he? What happened?" Gwen asked.
Wally cooed sadly as it clicks for Gwen.
"Oh, was he… stolen?" Gwen guessed.
Gwen felt sympathy for Wally, and she reached her hand up to Wally's face.
"You need my help, don't you?" Gwen asked.
Wally nodded.
"Do you know who did this or where they've taken him?" Gwen asked.
Wally directed her attention to the forest Gwen flew over earlier.
"Willy was taken somewhere in the forest?" Gwen asked.
Wally nodded.
"Okay, but I'm gonna need a ride." Gwen said, realizing it was far away.
Just then, Cuphead and Mugman arrive outside the cuckoo-clock on Cerulean Bolt.
"Gwen!" Both cups called.
"Guys! Perfect timing!" Gwen called back.
"Let's get outta here before Wally notices!" Cuphead called.
"Wait! I didn't disturb him! He needs my help rescuing his son!" Gwen quickly explained.
"Huh?" Both cups asked in shock.
"Wait, is this another rescue mission like back on Mt. Eruptus?" Mugman asked.
"Pretty much." Gwen answered.
"Aw, nuts! We gotta go on another mission?" Cuphead asked.
"Yes, Cuphead."
Gwen said as she climbed out of the cuckoo-clock and joined the cups on Cerulean Bolt.
"Ok, buddy. Take us to the forest. That's where Wally said his son Willy was taken." Gwen instructed.
Cerulean Bolt flew the trio away from the cliffs to the forest. They arrive and search for any clues to finding Willy and/or the culprit responsible for his kidnapping.
"What are we looking for exactly?" Cuphead asked.
"We're looking for clues Cuphead. Like when we were looking for Grim Matchstick's baby, we followed tracks." Gwen explained.
"Gwen! Over there!" Mugman pointed out.
Gwen and Cuphead look to where Mugman was pointing, and they notice smoke rising.
"Good eye Mugsy! Let's get a closer look guys!" Gwen said.
Cerulean Bolt flew towards the smoke. They arrive and land and realize the smoke was coming from an unattended campfire and discover a campsite with a big tent.
"A campfire? How does that help exactly?" Cuphead asked.
"It means there's people nearby. Which means the culprit is camping out here." Gwen answered.
"But who?" Mugman asked.
Just then, they hear several of voices coming their way.
"Looks like we're about to get our answer. Quick hide!" Gwen said.
Cerulean Bolt swipes the trio up and flies up to hide in the trees.
They look down on the arriving campers. They notice three anthropomorphic hunting equipment, one short hatchet, a pair of binoculars with legs and one tall shovel wearing camos and all holding rifles.
"Hunters." Gwen whispered.
"Hunters?" Both cups asked loudly.
"SHHHH!" Gwen angrily shushed them.
They continue to spy on the hunters. They watch the shovel enter a tent, then comes out with a little baby bird in a cage.
"It's them! They took Willy!" Mugman whispered.
"Yep. We found Willy and the culprits." Gwen whispered back.
"Wait, if they're hunters, why isn't Willy dead?" Cuphead quietly asked.
"Because not all hunters kill their prey. Sometimes they capture live animals for money like those poachers we dealt with before. Or some other purpose." Gwen whispered.
"Shh! They're talking!" Mugman shushed.
They listen to the hunter's conversation.
"Oh, that was too easy, eh fellas?" The shovel asked.
"Oh, yeah! Getting this baby bird brat was a sinch!" The binoculars said.
"Yeah boys. When his daddy come out of that birdhouse lookin' for his baby, that's when we strike! Bang! Bang! Bang!" The hatchet said, revealing their evil scheme.
"Yeah! You're the boss!" The binoculars said.
"You're a genius boss, you are!" The shovel added.
"Now, let's get some shut eye before we get ready for tomorrow when we get our grand prize." The hatchet said.
"Right boss!" Both the binoculars and shovel said at once.
The trio with Willy in the cage enter their tent to go to bed.
Gwen felt anger in her heart.
"Those dirty crooks! Killing an innocent family?! Now, I see why Wally was acting like that! He was just protecting his son from enemies! That explains everything!" Gwen realized.
"Yeah, we oughta teach those jerks a lesson!" Cuphead said.
"But Cuphead, we're here to rescue poor Willy!" Mugman reminded him.
"Not to worry brothers, I have a plan." Gwen said.
The trio huddle up, Gwen explains the plan and high-five on it. Cerulean Bolt flies down to the tent. Cuphead and Mugman keep watch while Gwen turned herself invisible and sneaks into their tent. She quietly sneaks past the loud snoring hunters sleeping in their sleeping bags. Gwen sneaks up to the cage holding Willy. She reveals herself to Willy. He was about to gasp until Gwen shushed him.
"It's okay Willy! Your papa Wally sent me to rescue you! I'm here to get you out and get you home!" Gwen whispered.
Willy smiled as Gwen used her ink pen to unlock the cage. She opens the cage and lifts Willy in her arms. Willy snuggles into Gwen's chest, happy to be rescued. Gwen gestures Willy to be quiet as she sneaks back to her friends. She hops on Cerulean Bolt and gives her friends a thumbs up.
"Let's go!" Gwen whispered.
Cerulean Bolt starts to fly away from the campsite. But they realize too late the binoculars wakes up to get a drink when he barely catches a glimpse of Gwen holding Willy. He alerts his fellow hunters.
"Wake up! Wake up! Intruders have stolen the baby!" The binoculars yelled.
"WHAT?!" The hatchet yelled.
"Oh no! What do we do boss?" The shovel asked.
"Arm yourselves boys! We got some huntin' to do!" The hatchet said evilly as he grabbed his rifle.
The binoculars and shovel arm themselves with their rifles and run after the trio. Just as Gwen and the cups make their escape, a couple of gunshots were fired at them, startling Cerulean Bolt and fall to the ground. Gwen and the cups crash to the ground while Cerulean Bolt is caught in a tree branch.
"Ugh! They're quick to catch on!" Gwen groaned.
"Yeah! Now we're the ones being hunted!" Cuphead exclaimed.
"I don't wanna be prey! What are we gonna do?!" Mugman fearfully asked.
"SHHH!" Gwen quickly shushed the cups.
Gwen takes the cups and Willy and hide in the bushes and notice the hunters looking for them. Gwen thinks for a moment and gets an idea.
"If it's hunting they want, it's hunting they'll get." Gwen whispered.
"What do you mean?" Cuphead asked.
"We're gonna have some fun with them. And I know how." Gwen whispered.
Gwen and the cups huddle up again and explains her plan. The cups giggle at the plan and air high-five on it. The trio split up while Gwen keeps Willy with her.
"Don't worry little fella, I have a plan! We're gonna use some magic!" Gwen quietly whispered as she turned themselves invisible and climbs up the tree to help Cerulean Bolt as she becomes the eye in the sky for the cups holding her ink pen, creating binoculars and arms herself with the ink pen.
She spots the shovel tracking Cuphead as he is purposely leaving his own tracks to a wide hole. Gwen makes a ticking timebomb appear in Cuphead's hand. He quickly places the bomb in the hole, shoves a big rock over it and quickly hides behind a boulder as he held in his laughter.
The shovel was sneaking around until he notice's Cuphead's tracks.
"Oh boy! Cup tracks!" The shovel said excitedly and quickly follows them until he reaches the big rock.
"I know you're in there! Come out quietly and I won't shoot you!" The shovel yelled as he aimed his rifle.
When nothing happens, he puts down his rifle.
"Okay you asked for it!" The shovel called.
He used his shovel head to flip the rock aside and peeks down the hole when suddenly…
BOOM!
The shovel was exploded out of the hole and shot in a faraway distance. Cuphead laughs uncontrollably as Gwen teleports Cuphead back to her hiding spot. Gwen and Willy laugh with Cuphead.
"Aw man! That was awesome!" Cuphead said.
"Yeah! That dumb shovel got what was coming!" Gwen agreed.
Willy laughed and made exploding sounds.
"Okay, one down. Two to go." Gwen said as she looked in her binoculars, looking for Mugman.
In another section of the forest, Mugman inside a cave as the binoculars is chasing him. Gwen quickly uses the magic inkwell on Mugman. The binoculars pointed his rifle at the cave.
"I know you're in there! Come out with your hands up!" The binoculars yelled.
Mugman comes out in a flirty style, dressed in drag and pretends to be a woman. The binoculars is smitten by Mugman's disguise.
"Oh, sorry ma'am. I thought you were someone else." The binoculars said, blushing.
"Aw, that's alright sugar. What's a handsome hunter like yourself doing out here all alone?" Mugman asked in a high-pitch girl-like voice.
"Oh, I was huntin' with my buddies." The binoculars answered.
"Aw, that's sweet. Hey, I lost my shoe inside this cave. You mind helpin' a helpless like like me out?" Mugman asked, making girl-like poses.
"Aw jeez Mugsy." Gwen said under her breath.
"For you sweetheart, anything." The binoculars answered.
Mugman gestures the binoculars to follow him as he happily follows him into the cave. But the cave was too dark for the binoculars to see.
"I can't see a thing! It's too dark in here!" The binoculars said.
"Here, you can use my flashlight." Mugman said, flirtingly.
He gives the binoculars a flashlight and Mugman quietly sneaks out of the cave. Just as the binoculars turns on the flashlight, he realizes too late he is surrounded by a large group of angry bears.
"Eep!" The binoculars exclaimed as his eyes widened in horror.
The bears maul the binoculars senseless as Gwen teleports Mugman back to her location. She removes his disguise as Cerulean Bolt was finally free from the treebranch.
"Nice work Mugsy! He really fell for it!" Gwen said as she was laughing.
"I still got it since I was Tallulah Piccolo." Mugman bragged about his acting talent.
"Alright, that's two down, and one to go." Gwen said.
Suddenly, without warning, they hear a gun cock from the ground.
"There you brats are! Get down here!" The hatchet called as he pointed his rifle at the group.
Having no choice, Gwen and her friends fly down quietly to the hatchet with their hands up.
"You young missy not only stole my prize, but also got rid of my boys! Well, I'm gonna return the favor by taking your boys!" The hatchet said as he aimed his rifle at the cups as they fearfully held each other.
Gwen tried to think for a moment until Will pulls out something from his pocket. Just as the hatchet was about to finish the cups off, Willy pulls out a ray gun and shoots a pink beam at the hatchet, thus blasting him far away. Gwen is in shock that Willy had a weapon all along.
"Wow, you had a gun all along?" Gwen asked, in shock.
Willy nodded happily and snuggled into Gwen's chest.
"Wow! That was awesome kid!" Cuphead exclaimed.
"Yeah, you showed that jerk who's boss!" Mugman exclaimed.
"You're the hero Willy. You beat them!" Gwen said.
Willy blew a raspberry at the hunters as the trio laughed.
"Alright, guys. Let's get our little savior home!" Gwen said.
"Yeah!" Both cups agreed.
They hop on Cerulean Bolt and fly off back to the cliffs. They arrive at Wally's cuckoo-clock home. Wally pops his head out of the house and notices the group arriving with his baby. Wally chirps happily as the group approaches the house and fly inside. Gwen hands over Wally his baby and Wally snuggles Willy, happy to have him home.
"Aww!" The trio said at once.
Wally places Willy into his little nest and settles him down to bed. Wally looks at Gwen and the cups. He reaches his head down to Gwen and snuggled her body, expressing his gratitude.
"Aw, you're welcome, Wally." Gwen said as she petted his head.
Cuphead and Mugman pet Wally too.
"Well guys, I think we've had enough adventure for one day. What do you say we head home?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah, I'm ready for bed." Cuphead said as he yawned.
"I'm ready to hit the sack." Mugman agreed as he yawned.
"Well, we gotta go. Keep your baby safe." Gwen said to Wally.
Wally chirped in agreement.
Gwen and the cups hop on Cerulean Bolt and leave the cuckoo-clock. They arrive home at the cottage where Elder Kettle was outside, waiting for them. They land in front of Elder Kettle and hop off Cerulean Bolt.
"Boys! Gwen! You're home!" Elder Kettle said happily as he hugged the trio.
"We're okay! I didn't disturb Wally! He needed my help rescuing his baby from a group of hunters!" Gwen explained.
"Oh wow. He has a kid? Is that why he was terrorizing people?" Elder Kettle asked.
"Actually, Elder Kettle, he was never terrorizing anyone. He was just protecting his son from enemies. Hunters were trying to kill him since they consider Wally a prize." Gwen answerd.
"Yeah, Wally's really a good dad." Cuphead said.
"And little Willy was so cute! Except with his ray gun." Mugman added.
"Aw, that's great! Just like your Mt. Eruptus adventure with Grim Matchstick." Elder Kettle said.
"Yeah! Exactly! Maybe this adventure is what I needed to blow off steam from planning the wedding." Gwen agreed.
"That's great dear. Now that you're all home, what do you say we head to bed. It's after dark." Elder Kettle suggested.
"Yeah!" All three said at once.
"But first, Gwen, I need you to restore the roof please." Elder Kettle said.
"Yes, Elder Kettle." Gwen agreed.
After Gwen magically restores the roof, they all enter the cottage, head upstairs to bed. Gwen slips on her invisible sweater and goes right to sleep. She was happy to have another adventure with her best friends again to blow off steam from the wedding planning.
