This one took a while, but overall I think my work paid off. College and other things taking most of my time writing this are a few examples, but I believe I have delivered what I wanted. I don't have much else to say, so onto the reading you go!
"Dipper...?!"
"Dipper...?"
"Dipper, are you there..."
"Dipper...?"
"..."
"Dipper! Wake up!"
"Ahhh!" Dipper exclaimed in shock as he was roughly shaken awake from his shoulders. "What's going on?! Have my past mistakes finally come back to haunt me?!"
"What?"
Hearing the familiar voice at his side, Dipper glanced to find Mabel and Waddles kneeling beside him, the former giving him a perplexed look from his sudden outburst.
"...We don't talk about that," Dipper said awkwardly.
"Wasn't planning on it," Mabel assured as she stood up, dusting herself off some pinecones stuck on her sweater. "But now that you're up, do you have any idea where we are right now?"
Confused by what she was referring to, Dipper looked around him to find himself, Mabel, and Waddles inside a forest, the sunlight still shining down directly before their departure earlier.
"I think we're back in Gravity Falls," Dipper said, noticing the familiar-looking pine trees. "Wait a second—Mabel, how was I unconscious? And why are you covered in pine cones?"
"Oh yeah, funny story," Mabel began.
Dipper and Mabel fell out of the portal before tumbling down a hill and through the nature of the forest, Dipper hitting his head on a tree and falling unconscious while Mabel fell into a bed of pine cones.
"And that's how I found you like that," Mabel finished with a casual smile.
"Great," Dipper groaned with an eye roll as he gathered his bag before a sense of realization hit him. "Wait, portal! Mabel, we have to hurry and tell everyone that Bill is back! He's probably on his way here right now!"
"But how do we get out of here?" Mabel asked as she gathered Waddles and her bag.
Dipper looked around the woods for a trail out, his attention was soon caught by the sound of a car passing by. He glanced over to find an open passageway through the trees, the sunlight brandishing as guidance. "Hey, I see an opening this way. We should be near something," He pointed out to the path the trees gave away, the trio making their way through.
It didn't take long before the trio got themselves out of the shrouded woods and into the fresh sunlight, their attention soon grabbed as a car drove passed them and over a nearby hill. "This way," Dipper said confidently, instructing Mabel to follow him to where the car led.
After a rather short walk, Dipper and Mabel spotted something in the distance, their curiosity growing as their speed increased to get a closer look. They halted their steps as confusion took over their faces once they found themselves standing above their last expectation. What stood below them was a large modern-looking town that looked nothing like the town of Gravity Falls, the sunlight highlighting its warm tones as it bustled with animated activity throughout.
"Dipper, I don't think we're in Gravity Falls," Mabel pointed out the obvious.
"...W-what? But then, where even are we?" Dipper questioned as he looked around the area until he caught sight of a nearby sign partially covered by thick bushes. He walked over and brushed the shrub's branches away, giving him a clear view of the sign. "Welcome to the town of... Echo Creek?"
"Echo Creek? That sounds like something you'd hear in some cheap horror movie," Mabel remarked. "That or a romantic comedy... Or a cheap romantic horror comedy movie."
Dipper backed away from the sign, the boy shortly remembering who was the cause behind sending them here. "Mabel, do you remember whoever that thing was that sent us through that portal?" he urgently asked his sister.
"I think those two little deer things called him... Vyódin?" Mabel hesitantly guessed, having remembered overhearing the name. "Pretty stupid name if you ask me. I think I'll call him Vyódork instead—feels more fitting."
"Mabel, come on, this is serious!" Dipper chastised his sister. "Whoever this Vyódin guy is just sent us through some random portal to some place we don't even know, and not to mention he's sending those two little whatevers to steal parts of Gravity Falls right now as we speak. And worst of all, he was somehow able to bring Bill back to life! We don't know what's gonna happen! Everyone's gonna see we're missing and freak out, and we have no idea where we even are!"
"Woah! Hey! Relax, bro-bro," Mabel tried to soothe Dipper as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Yeah, all of this stuff is super duper bad, and we have no idea where we are, but that's not gonna stop us, right? We've beaten Bill before, so who's to say we can't beat him again? And we can stop whatever that Vyódork guy is planning and fix Gravity Falls!"
Dipper seemed to calm down evenly, but that didn't completely stop his worrying. "But, Mabel, this "Vyódork" guy just revived Bill right in front of us. What are we gonna do when he's probably plotting a way to rip us to shreds right now as we speak? Or start another Weirdmaggedon?"
"I think he'd do something way worse to us than that. But c'mon, Dipper, we've got this!" Mabel encouraged her brother with a hardy bump on his shoulder. "This is our chance to go on some big wild adventure that could take us to so many different places! And this is your chance to fill out that nerdy journal of yours. This is just the beginning of our next summer mystery! We'll stop this Vyódork guy and Bill once and for all and return Gravity Falls to how it was!"
Dipper held his doubts, though he felt they wouldn't make any progress if he kept worrying. "Alright, I guess you're right," he agreed with his sister with a warm smile.
"I'm always right," Mabel confidently praised herself. "And as someone who's always right, I believe someone down there is gonna be able to help us out."
"Mabel, I'm not so sure if somebody will take kindly to a couple of teens and a pig who came from a portal asking for help because some otherworldly thing sent them here," Dipper honestly answered, but he didn't see another way out of this situation."But, I guess it's worth a shot."
"Well, let's get a move on!" Mabel enthusiastically exclaimed with a wide grin. "Onwards!" She began to make her way down before she tripped on a rock, sending her and her belongings tumbling down the hill. "Ow ow ow ow ow ow!"
The trek down to Echo Creek went pretty uneventful, save for Mabel's stumbling, but they managed to see just how lively the town was when they finally arrived. The twins and their pig walked down the sidewalk through the new location, seeing all the bustling people that occupied the streets. An abundance of palm trees stood as kids rode their skateboards through the sidewalks of the vibrant buildings, the buildings in question lined with different colors that made them stand out from the rest. It was a total contrast compared to Gravity Falls in both size and environment.
"Gosh, this town is so colorful!" Mabel exclaimed brightly as she looked at everything around her. "Why can't more places look like this?"
"Because the world would rather be bland than anything else," Dipper replied. "There's also architecture, money, culture, and everything else that has to do with that."
"Well, I think the world needs more pizzazz!" Mabel remarked confidently.
"Yeah well, I wouldn't get too distracted by this place," Dipper reminded her, hoping she would focus on the task at hand. "We just need to find a map to see how big this place is."
"No need to worry about me, I was practically born undistractable- Ooh! An antique store!" Mabel immediately became distracted as they passed by a store window, the contents inside filled with all sorts of crafty trinkets and items. "Wow, I wonder if they have one of those giant piggy banks I always wanted. What do you think, Waddles?"
Waddles simply pressed his face against the glass with an oink.
"And this is exactly what I was talking about," Dipper deadpanned, pulling his sister away from the window as they resumed down the sidewalk. He had to agree the spots in the town looked very intriguing, but he was attentive enough not to let it distract him like his sister. "Come on, Mabel, you have to stay focused. I don't think it's best we draw any attention to ourselves in this town, especially since we're not supposed to be here."
"But there's so much cool stuff around us," Mabel said in her defense. "My beautiful Mabel eyes have to see absolutely everything."
"Then let's use your Mabel eyes to check out a map," Dipper replied as the trio's destination eventually came across a bus stop, a map of the town installed inside. "Hey, here's one."
The map itself was illustrated in convoluted detail and numerous bus routes, leaving Dipper and Mabel very confused as they could barely understand where they even stood.
"I don't think my Mabel eyes can read this," Mabel said as she shook her head, having trouble finding a single readable direction.
"This isn't the... greatest, but y'know what we're gonna work with it," Dipper stated confidently as he brought out his journal and pen from his bag. "Alright, Mabel, here's a plan I was thinking: first, we head to the nearest airport in town and see if we can sneak onto a plane heading to Oregon; we could probably pass as flight attendants if we get the right outfits from a clothing store. Next, once we land there, we get a ride to Gravity Falls and warn everyone about Bill and Vyódin, and Grunkle Ford could probably create a new invention that'll help stop the both of them. And after that, he can make another invention that'll help put everything back to where it's supposed to be, and then everything will go back to how it should be. What do you think?"
Mabel gave her brother a look of apt confusion, his plan sounding very unrealistic.
"Okay, maybe let's think of a different idea," Dipper sighed in mild annoyance, believing his plan also sounded ridiculous.
What the twins didn't seem to take account of sooner was the newcomer amongst them before Dipper felt something against his pants. Surprised by the sudden touch, he looked down to find a small, round puppy trying to climb up his leg. It had soft beige fur and big black eyes that would make any person tremble from its utter adorableness.
"Uhh..." Dipper glanced around awkwardly, unsure of what to make of the animal's sudden appearance.
"Awww! It's a wittle puppy!" Mabel gushed excitedly as she gently yet eagerly picked up the small canine. "Now who's someone as cute as you doing around a bus stop? You got a name, little guy?"
"Do you really have to be doing that, Mabel?" Dipper inquired his sister with an annoyed glance at her mushiness. "And I suggest you put it down, you don't know where it's been at all."
"Hmm... It looks pretty clean to me!" Mabel exclaimed happily as she inspected the small animal, eventually noticing a little marking on the small canine's bottom. "Awww, it even has a little heart on its butt!"
"Clean or not, you should put it down," Dipper advised. "It could be anybody's, and we don't know anyone around here. And its eyes are kinda freaking me out."
"But they're so cute!" Mabel beamed, cradling the puppy in her arms as she gave it pets. Despite being held in a comfortable position, the puppy wriggled out from Mabel's grasp as it went back over to Dipper. It circled him with excited barks, its attention seemingly on the boy's bag as its eyes focused solely on it. Dipper believed it was a little cute at first, but that cuteness faltered when it tried to jump at the bag's zipper.
"Woah! Hey now, this is off-limits," Dipper chastised with a frown as he positioned the small canine away from his belongings. "Don't need anyone making it more of a mess than it already is."
"Aww, I think it likes you," Mabel teased with a grin.
"Well, I would like it if it wasn't trying to get into my stuff" Dipper stressed, pulling his bag away as the puppy continued to jump to it before Mabel went to pick it up. Getting a good look at the small canine, he found something glistening just under its fur. "I think it has a nametag."
Dipper pushed the puppy's fur away, finding a golden nametag attached to a collar around the canine's neck. "Laser... Puppy?" he read with bewilderment at the strange name. "Who in the world names their dog Laser Puppy?"
"Maybe it was a really rich person," Mabel answered. "We know how terrible the names they think of can be."
"Yeah, but Laser Puppy is a pretty ridiculous... name..." Dipper's speaking slowed once something intrigued him in the small canine's eyes. Besides the obvious big beady pupils, a red glow began to show in its features as it grew brighter and brighter. "What the...?"
Before Dipper could finish his sentence, a duo of hot lasers spewed out from the puppy's eyes just above the boy's head, nearly scathing his hair by an inch as it blew a hole in the bus stop's ceiling. Dipper and Mabel both let out simultaneous cries of shock at the puppy's display, Mabel gently placing it down and backing away with her brother and Waddles.
"Did that puppy just shoot a laser from its eyes?!" Dipper exclaimed frantically with wide eyes.
"It might be a super puppy!" Mabel exclaimed in awe, her eyes twinkling. "I always dreamt about those!"
Seeing this as some playful encouragement, the small canine let out a joyful bark as it ran over and jumped to the zipper of Dipper's bag, its bite strong as it brought the bag down.
"Hey! No going in there!" Dipper stressed as he tried to shoo the puppy away and pull his bag, but the canine held a mighty grip on the zipper. He had no clue how such a small animal could have such a stronghold, but it also shot lasers out of its eyes which made him even more confused. "Uh, Mabel?! Could I get a little help here?!"
"I would help," Mabel answered innocently. "But c'mon! The little guy looks like he's having fun!"
Dipper rolled his eyes at his sister's lack of assistance, continuing to try and pry the small canine off his belongings, much to his dismay. The puppy showed no signs of backing down from its playful behavior and only strengthened its bite on the zipper. Dipper placed his bag on the ground and tried his best to carefully pull the puppy off, the canine not budging the slightest. He grunted as the canine gave no sign of letting go, feeling as though it was gonna stay on there forever.
"This is ridiculous," Dipper groaned with an exasperated sigh. He was about to attempt once more, but his attention was taken as another puppy jumped onto his bag, its appearance identical to the first. "What the-?!"
The new puppy pawed at the zipper with intent on getting inside, Dipper moving quickly to pull it off before it could damage it. Just as he did, another puppy appeared and joined the others in trying to open the boy's bag. What was originally three puppies became a group of eight as more and more joined in, Dipper succumbed to the army of cuteness once they began to crowd and run all over him and his belongings. "Mabel!" Dipper called out to his sister for help.
Mabel snickered at the sight of Dipper fending for himself from the group of puppies, reaching into her bag and taking out her camera with a mischievous smirk, aiming it at her defeated brother. "This is definitely going in the scrapbook," she chuckled as she snapped a picture, the final product sliding from the bottom, showing Dipper in complete distress while the puppies ran all over his body. "Ha ha! Perfect."
"Laser puppies! Laser puppies, where are you?!" an unknown yet concerned voice called from around the street corner. Mabel's attention was brought away from the pile of puppies and to the direction of the new voice, spotting both a girl and a boy about her age round the corner.
The girl looked no older than the age of fifteen, having fair-skin with light-pink heart marks on her cheeks, long blonde hair, a red headband with little devil horns, a sea-green short-sleeved dress with a cute pink octopus on the front, pink and orange stockings, dark magenta boots that resembled a rhino, and a small star-shaped bag with a face. Beside her, the boy looked to be the same age as she yet was dressed more normally, having tan-skin with a mole on his cheek, brown eyes, a red hoodie, dark-gray jeans, and olive and white sneakers.
"Agh! Laser puppies! Please get off that innocent person!" the teenage girl called to the small canines as she ran to the scene.
"This is why I said we should take the leash with us!" the teenage boy exclaimed with a facepalm as he followed her.
The puppies stopped their playful activities and ran over to the girl and boy with small barks of excitement, one of the puppies jumping out from the containments of the boy's bag carrying a small bag of cheese puffs in its mouth, the reason for their ambush all being from smelling the scent of a snack. Fortunately, Dipper didn't sustain any injuries, though he was certainly left irritated.
"Remind me never to get a job at a pet store, Mabel," Dipper deadpanned as he sat up, plucking a piece of fur out of his hair.
"Laser puppies, what have I told you about running over random people? Don't you all remember that old lady chasing us with her big metal stick the last time?" the teenage girl lightly scolded, kneeling as she gathered the small canines in her arms, though their cute appearances made the girl's sternness vanish completely. "You guys are lucky you're all so adorable that I can't stay mad forever."
Dipper dusted himself off with mild annoyance as Mabel helped him off the ground, the two new teenagers approaching them. "Hey, you guys okay?" the teenage boy asked in concern.
"Uhh... yeah, we're fine," Dipper replied as he dusted the rest of the fur off. "Thanks for getting them off me."
"Sorry our pups kinda pounced on you like that—someone's still trying to get used to this whole 'taking your pets for a walk' thing," the teenage girl chimed in, feeling rather guilty about the scene.
"Right..." Dipper replied with an awkward laugh. Truthfully, he was a tad suspicious of the two teenagers, wondering how they were able to get laser-firing puppies in their possession in the first place. "I see that it's a lot for you."
"I'm trying to teach her how to walk them around town," the teenage boy said. "But she insisted we don't need to have them on a leash."
"That's because the puppies deserve some more freedom in their life," the teenage girl defended herself with a confident smile. She then felt a nudge from her leg, looking down to find one of her puppies with Dipper's snack in its mouth. Noticing that it was most likely his, she grabbed the snack from the puppy's mouth and held it to the boy, somehow ignoring the obvious issue of saliva dripping down the bag. "I'm guessing this is yours. Here ya go!" she cheerfully grinned.
Dipper was repulsed by the substance on the bag, but he took it with the tips of his fingers as a means to be friendly, much to his disgust. "Uh... thank you..." he loathed but kept a friendly yet awkward smile before tossing the bag behind him into the trash. "Well, sorry to waste your guys' time or anything, me and my sister should really get going now. Right, Mabel?"
"Your hair is so pretty and shiny," Mabel gushed with a wide grin, ignoring her brother and being completely in awe at the teenage girl's appearance. "And oh my gosh, your outfit is so cute too! It's like you're a magical butt-kicking warrior or something!"
"Aw, thank you!" the teenage girl grinned gleefully at the compliment. "And might I add, you look absolutely terrific! That cat sweater is so cute!"
"Thanks!" Mabel chortled with a wide smile and she brought out an arm to let Star see the knitted clothing up-close. "I actually made it myself."
"No way! You must have some amazing crafting skills!" Star complimented, getting a feel for the texture of the sweater.
"Well, once you've knitted over a bajillion sweaters, you'd consider yourself a pro," Mabel remarked with a proud smirk. "Isn't that right, Waddles?"
The pig in question released a nonchalant oink from below, preferring to lay on the ground rather than sit.
"Awww, who's this little guy?" Star asked with an ecstatic grin, kneeling and letting down her puppies to pet the rotund animal.
"This is Waddles," Mabel introduced, kneeling to an equal height to the girl. "He's my little perfect angel who's fifty percent huggable and fifty percent adorable."
"Well, he sure looks like it!" Star beamed as she continued petting Waddles, something which the pig enjoyed as he let out a happy oink. "Oh! I nearly forgot to introduce myself! I'm Star Butterfly! And this right here is my dear best friend, Marco Diaz!"
"That's the Marco Diaz," Marco corrected in an attempt to seem cool.
"My name's Dipper and you two have already met my sister Mabel, obviously" Dipper introduced with a friendly smile.
"Hi!" Mabel greeted them enthusiastically despite already meeting.
"So now that we're all friends and know each other, where are you guys heading to?" Star asked the twins.
"Oh, us? We, uh... just moved here actually," Dipped answered hastily, hoping to convince them so he wouldn't tell the truth.
"What? Dipper that's not-" Mabel was abruptly cut off by Dipper slapping a hand over her mouth.
"We're just checking the town out and everything, getting used to this being our new home, y'know?" Dipper continued to stay as casual as he could.
"Wow! You guys are just like me!" Star beamed happily, excited to find a few more newcomers like her. "I moved here not too long ago and it has been awesome! You guys will totally love it here!"
"Yep, we sure will..." Dipper said with a wan smile, trying his best not to be suspicious.
"We should be heading back now, we don't wanna waste your guys' time too much," Marco said as Star gathered their puppies back in her arms. "It was nice meeting you guys though." Before Star and Marco could walk away, Dipper quickly stopped them in their tracks.
"Wait! Actually, uh... me and my sister may have a slight problem," Dipper confessed.
"Oh no! Is something wrong?" Star asked, her and Marco's expressions becoming worrisome.
"No no no, nothing's wrong..." Dipper assured with a wave, but that was far from the case. "Well, something's kinda wrong, but we could use a little help. We kinda don't have a place to stay in at the moment."
"But didn't you guys just move here?" Marco asked with a questioning brow.
"...We did, but our parents locked us out while they left for a business trip," Dipper thought up on the spot, something of which Mabel disapproved. "We don't exactly have anywhere to stay right now, so do you know if there's any place we could go for the time being by any chance?"
"Hmmmm..." Star hummed as she began to roughly think, a hand on her chin, though it didn't take long before she suddenly gained an idea. "Oh, I know! You guys can come stay with us at Marco's place!
"Really?" Mabel muffled before she licked her brother's hand as he pulled it away in disgust.
"Of course!" Star reassured the twins with a heartfelt smile. "I've been living there for a couple of Earth months and it's been amazing!"
"Woah! Star, I think it would be nice to invite these guys to stay with us, but I'm not sure what my mom and dad will think about this," Marco doubted, worried about what his parents would say. "We've mostly had foreign exchange students stay with us anyway. Are you guys foreign exchange students?"
"I took a French class last year," Mabel answered with an honest smile.
"Relax, Marco," Star assured her best friend with a nudge. "Your parents are super cool with everyone that comes over, so I'm sure they'll be super cool with them. Besides, the more roommates the better."
"If you say so, Star," Marco shrugged with a smile.
"Awesome! Come on, you guys are gonna love Marco's parents! Star exclaimed, gleefully running down the sidewalk.
"Star! Wait up!" Marco called as he ran after her.
As much as finding some shelter was a tremendous luck, Dipper couldn't help but feel off about it. "Oh boy, what did we just agree to?" he questioned himself, ruffling his messy hair in worry.
"Staying in a house with really cool people, duh," Mabel pointed out, her bag slung over her shoulder as he was prepped to get going.
"I know that part, but something about them just doesn't feel right," Dipper said with a skeptical glance. "Especially Star."
"Dipper, you're just being paranoid again," Mabel said with an eye roll, silently wishing that side of her brother would vanish. "I mean, what's so strange about her?"
"Mabel, she had a puppy that shoots lasers from its eyes, and I'm pretty sure the rest of those puppies do the same," Dipper exasperated. "And why was her outfit so weird? I get the dress, but devil horns? Those really long boots? Saying "Earth months"? And what was with those heart things on her cheeks? Something about her just doesn't seem natural."
"C'mon, bro-bro, we've dealt with stuff that isn't natural before like a thousand times already! Besides, maybe wherever that portal took us to somewhere where dogs have really cool powers!" Mabel attempted to assure her brother. "And there is absolutely nothing wrong with her outfit! It's called fashion, and she just so happens to be very fashionable."
"Of course she is..." Dipper sighed, sarcastically rolling his eyes.
"Hey! Are you guys coming?!" Star called in the distance to grab the twins' attention, her head poking around the corner.
Dipper's expression remained of worry, but Mabel was quick to snap him out of it with a nudge to his shoulder.
"Well, Dipper?" Mabel inquired with an eager grin.
Dipper didn't want to have to resort to this, yet he bottled up his feelings and thought of the proper action. "Alright, let's go," he said with a defeated sigh as he slumped his bag over his shoulder with ease, even if it still had a scent of dog.
"Heck yeah!" Mabel cheered happily, pumping a fist in the air. "Onwards! To the awesome new place!" she exclaimed before sprinting forward with excitement in her step as Waddles followed right behind her.
"...We've gotta find a way home soon," Dipper loathed, though he didn't wish to waste more precious time, he soon walked down after his joyful sister to their new place of residence.
A pair of orbs floated before Vyódin, one containing a mailbox while the other contained the plank with the crudely drawn face. He brought his hands under them as they glowed a deep blue, pushing them into each other until they phased into one, the plank now leaning onto the mailbox. The celestial being satisfyingly hummed at his accomplishment, setting his new creation back into the gallery of others. The silence that was once in the prism was abruptly broken once Bill returned, something of wish Vyódin wished could return as a means to focus.
"Guess who's back?" Bill announced as he twirled his cane around, making his presence known. "And I brought a whole haul with me too," He snapped his fingers before a group of bubbles summoned behind him, all of them containing a piece of a city he ventured into. "Some group of fleshsticks wouldn't quit trying to stop me though, and I think one of them turned into a gorilla."
Vyódin brought the bubbles to himself and eyed the contents inside critically, nodding sufficiently to the demon before him. "These will do efficiently," he said as he added them to the gallery. "Nicely done, Bill. You never fail to impress me with your work."
"It was nothin'," Bill said with a wave. "So now where am I going? Y'know, I wouldn't mind heading to Gravity Falls. Possibly see some old friends of mine that'll be glad to see me again."
"My henchmen have Gravity Falls covered already," Vyódin said.
"Aw come on, Roadkill! How come those little dwarfs of yours get to go but not me?" Bill asked, hoping to persuade the celestial being.
"Because I'm aware of what you would cause if I sent you there," Vyódin said blatantly, aware of the demon's schemes.
"Alright, you make a good point," Bill admitted, not at all bothering to hide his plan.
"As of right now, I am hoping my plan can remain unknown to those mortals out there," Vyódin explained. "You already saw what happened to those children. What they will witness is something far greater than anything they will ever see. "
"Sounds like someone doesn't seem to like a little fun," Bill teased.
Vyódin scoffed at the demon's remark as he summoned another set of orbs from the gallery, intent on combining them more. He wouldn't be able to get far, however, as Bill interrupted him. "Say, Roadkill, since you know so much about me, how about I know something about you?" the demon intently asked as he floated in front of Vyódin.
"I beg your pardon?" Vyódin questioned, eyeing the demon strangely.
"You know about practically everything I've done, so I think it's only fair I get to know something about you," Bill answered.
"I do not wish to discuss anything about myself," Vyódin replied, waving Bill off so he would move.
"Ohhh, we got a mysterious guy with us here," Bill laughed as he nudged the celestial being. "Come on, deer head, you gotta have something."
"I said I do not wish to discuss anything about myself, do I make myself clear?" Vyódin lightly snapped, his tone rising as he sent a glare the demon's way.
"Alright, yeesh, relax," Bill remarked in defense. "No need to get all crabby, it was just a simple question."
Vyódin let out a sigh of regret from his action. "No, no, I'm sorry, forgive me for that. It's not a topic I take pleasure in discussing about," he apologized sincerely. "My past is something I do not wish to remember."
"Even more mysterious I see," Bill commented, scratching his nonexistent chin. "Well suit yourself, deer head. While you think about where I'm going next, I'm gonna see if I can find a dimension of screaming ostriches! Be back soon!" the demon then teleported to his own devices.
Vyódin could only sigh as he returned to his own devices of combining the set of orbs before him. The quiet environment made him feel lonely, but he felt more committed to getting his work done. The pure silence was a feeling he felt used to for centuries on end, seeing it as a factor in meeting his end goals as soon as possible.
Unbeknownst to him, in the gallery of orbs sat the newly combined mailbox and plank. While they remained normal at first, they flickered slightly but violently before returning to normal.
The group of kids walked down the sidewalk to Marco's place, Star and Mabel happily chatting in the front while their pets followed and Marco and Dipper walked a little behind. Dipper was engrossed in his journal as he wrote about the probability of Star and Marco being possible shapeshifters, the existence of the Laser Puppies fueling his theory. He was more convinced that Star was the higher suspicion in this case, the way she was dressed and talked throwing him off.
Marco noticed the boy writing away in his journal, his curiosity growing strong as he took a glance over. "Whatcha writing there?" he asked Dipper, the boy stopping his writing abruptly.
"Oh, this? I'm just, uh... writing about how cool this town is," Dipper laughed awkwardly, hoping to convince Marco. Fortunately, Marco seemed convinced by his statement.
"Well, I think you're gonna like it here," Marco said with a friendly smile. "Lived here for practically all my life and there's not much I'd change about it. Well, besides the traffic."
"Yep, I'm sure gonna like it..." Dipper said with an exasperated smile, returning to the contents of his writing.
"So, Star, what's it like living here?" Mabel asked as she walked beside the teenage girl.
"Oh, it's absolutely amazing!" Star replied with a zealous smile. "There are so many cool places to go to and so many great people to meet! It's soooo much cooler than where I used to live. I should introduce you guys to some of the awesome friends I've made here! You guys would really like them, but then there's Brittney who always acts so crabby around us, so I don't know how much you'll like her."
"Well, we did show up to her party uninvited before," Marco added
"So where did you use to live?" Mabel asked, her interest peaking at the mention of Star living somewhere before.
"Eh, I'm sure you don't wanna know," Star chalked up with a shrug. "I'll probably bore you guys out just by the first sentence,"
"Aw, c'mon! Me and Dipper won't get bored, we'll listen to everything you have to say. Won't we, Dipper?" Mabel asked as she turned to her brother.
"Huh?" Dipper replied, not even fully paying attention to anyone around and more into his journal. "Oh... yeah, right."
"Eh, I don't know. The last time I told someone where I came from they ran away for some reason, and then I never saw them again," Star replied. "I think they might've also called me insane, which was pretty rude if you ask me."
"Wait, what?" Dipper couldn't help but question.
"Please, Star? Pleeeeeeeeeease?" Mabel hopefully begged, cupping her hands with sparkles in her eyes.
"Oh well, if you say so I guess," Star smiled before she began. "Well, I used to live in this nice land called Mewni that's from another dimension and I had to be sent to Earth recently because my mom and dad, who are the king and queen of my kingdom, by the way, wanted me to "use my powers safely" because I just got to have the Royal Magic Wand that's a family heirloom on my fourteenth birthday and I may have done a teensy little mistake to the kingdom for them to send me here. It's not my fault I didn't know half of those spells would cause so many fires, but then I thought my parents would send me to St. Olga's Reform School for Wayward Princesses! Which is like, the most horrific place imaginable! No one comes out the same! But then it turns out my parents weren't gonna send me there and then they put me in this super cool school with so many lovely people, and then that's where I met Marco and we became super awesome best friends. And his parents are just the absolute sweetest, and now, here I am! I never thought Earth would be so amazing to live on!"
Dipper and Mabel looked at the girl with mouths agape and wide eyes, neither of them expected to hear such a bewildering story.
"Hey, are you guys okay? Your faces look kinda broken," Star asked the shocked twins.
"I think you might've broken them," Marco commented.
"Wait wait wait wait wait," Dipper spoke, halting any further speech. "So... you're from a kingdom... from another dimension... and now you're living on Earth?"
"Yep! That's how it all went," Star answered innocently.
"So does this mean... you're a princess?" Mabel asked with an excited smile.
"Not just any princess," Star cheekily winked before reaching into her little star-shaped bag. As she stated earlier, she pulled out a wand-like object decorated with little hearts and white wings attached to the grip, along with sporting a small yellow crown on the tip. "I'm a magical princess!" She twirled around and created a magnificent rainbow with her wand, though it immediately suddenly burst into flames.
"You really gotta work on that," Marco remarked as he fanned the flames away.
Ignoring the combustion of flames, Mabel was still heavily enthralled. "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm friends with a magical princess from another dimension. I must be dreaming," She then pinched her hand, a stinging sensation erupting. "Ow! Nope, not dreaming."
"I can do pretty much any kind of magic with this! Watch!" Star grinned before she used the spectral powers of her royal wand and shot forth a beam of light. Not before long, the light faded into what looked to be some form of a disorganized hybrid creature with the body of a narwhal, the legs of a bear, the shell of a turtle, and a pair of moose antlers on its head. Horrifyingly, it softly meowed as if it wasn't attached to a creature that had no relation with cats. "Ta-da!" Star proudly presented before the twins.
Dipper and Marco shifted in shock at the newly-formed creature, while Mabel stared at it in amazement. "Awwww! I have no idea what it even is, but it's so cute!" she unsurprisingly gushed at the strange amalgamation of a creature.
The narwhal-bear-turtle-moose thing was calm for a moment, but it then decided to run away from the group and off into the distance—not without crashing into a parked car on its way.
"Shouldn't we go after that thing?" Marco questioned, noting the amount of hazards the creature would cause around town.
"It's better off free, Marco. It's off better free," Star said sincerely, patting Marco's shoulder.
"...Hey, Mabel, can I talk with you for a moment?" Dipper asked as he urgently huddled his sister just away from Star and Marco's hearing range. "See what I mean when I said something doesn't feel right about them?"
"Dipper quit being a party pooper!" Mabel whispered, slightly irritated by her brother's assumption. "So what if she's a magical princess from another dimension? That doesn't mean we can't trust her or Marco."
"Hearing the words "magical princess from another dimension" together in one sentence is gonna make me not trust someone, especially if that someone just created some weird hybrid thing in front of us just now!" Dipper exclaimed, trying his best to keep his voice low.
"Oh, but hearing "tiger juggling babies on the moon" is fine with you?" Mabel accused.
"You made that up just now!" Dipper retorted, peering over his shoulder in case Star and Marco were listening, which they thankfully weren't. "Look, she may be magical and all but we just met her. What if she turns on us when we least expect it? What if she hypnotized Marco and is using him as a puppet? What if her parents sent her here because she's actually incredibly dangerous"
"And what if she could help us get back home?" Mabel suggested with an honest glance.
"...What?" Dipper questioned, perplexed at the suggestion.
"She's a magical princess from another dimension. If she's from another dimension, then she could probably help us get back to Gravity Falls," Mabel explained, hoping her brother would understand.
While Dipper didn't trust Star and Marco in any way (mostly Star), Mabel did have a point. She was entirely magical if the wand wasn't enough proof, and although she was strange from top to bottom, she didn't show any sign of hostility towards them.
"I guess you're right..." Dipper agreed hesitantly, his eyes downcast. "But if this backfires, you owe me big time."
"Whatever you say, bro-bro," Mabel cheekily joked as the twins joined back with the others.
"So what were you guys talkin' about? Was it somethin' fun?" Star asked, an eager grin plastered on her face.
"Oh, it was nothing important," Dipper told rather awkwardly.
"That's good, because we're here!"
The group had just arrived at their destination without Dipper and Mabel even noticing it, looking over to find what was Marco's place. It was a relatively small house with burgundy roofing and a white exterior, as well as an abundance of cacti scattered around, whether in pots or planted into the ground. It looked to be any ordinary house you would see anywhere, though there was one feature that stuck out the most like a sore thumb. Branching out from the second floor was a huge royal-looking tower that crashed out through the side of the roof, looking as if it was just planted there without a care.
"Wow! Talk about royalty," Mabel remarked as she gazed at the magnificent tower.
"...You know what, I'm not even gonna question it anymore," Dipper needlessly deadpanned before he went and joined the others as they approached the front door of the house.
Not even deciding to knock first, Star immediately burst into the home without even checking if the door was locked. "We're back!" she gradually announced as the Laser Puppies ran inside.
"Hey Mom, hey Dad," Marco greeted as he entered.
The twins were able to get a good look at the inside of the house, seeing that it was fairly normal-looking without a hint of weirdness to go around, besides the overabundance of photos on the wall. It was structured quite well despite its seemingly small exterior, with a nice array of plants and decor placed about. Though they looked to have stood in the house's living room, the absurdity could only possibly be held upstairs. However, they weren't the only ones in the room.
"Oh, welcome back, kids," a woman comfortably sitting on the living room couch greeted, her attention driven away from the magazine in her hands. She looked to be no older than the age of forty, having light-skin, puffy auburn hair tied in a ponytail with a bang over her eye, an orange shirt, an olive skirt, and a pair of brown sandals. "I swear you left about fifteen minutes ago, but it's good to see you back so soon."
"Yeah! Had it been sixteen minutes, we would've started to freak out!" a burly man casually joked as he sat next to the woman on the couch with a welcoming smile. He looked to be around in his early forties, with tan skin, dark-brown hair, a short black mustache, a yellow shirt, dark gray pants, and yellow shoes. There was also a hefty amount of body hair on his chest and arms, the former peeking through the opening of his shirt.
"No need to worry about us, Mr. and Mrs. Diaz," Star assured the two nonchalant adults. "I just came back to introduce you guys to my new friends," The magical teenager ecstatically stepped aside from the door so the two newcomers were clearly in view. "Marco's parents, meet Dipper and Mabel!"
"Hello!" Mabel cheerfully greeted with a jovial smile.
"Uh... hi," Dipper awkwardly greeted with a weak wave, though it was in his best to be polite.
"Oh! Well, hello there!" Mrs. Diaz, or Angie, returned the greeting as she and her husband approached them. "I'm guessing you two are the new friends Star's talking about. It's always such a nice feeling to meet some new faces!" she smiled as she kindly pinched Dipper's cheek, earning a wince from the boy.
"And whoever is a friend of Star, is a friend to us!" Mr. Diaz, or Rafael, proudly embraced the twins in a massive bear hug with a hearty laugh before noticing Waddles wandering his way into the house and sitting by the door with a blank stare "Oh! And you brought some food as well!" The pig then approached where Mabel was lifted off the ground, looking up at her with his innocent eyes. "That is your food, no?"
"Nope! Not food! Definitely not food!" Mabel worryingly exclaimed as she and her brother escaped the burly man's embrace and picked up her pig. "But I'll take it as a compliment if you're saying he looks tasty."
"Ha! And a great sense of humor too!" Rafael playfully ruffled the girl's hair.
"So what brings you two around here? I'm guessing you both are a couple of straight-A students that go to Star and Marco's school?" Angie asked the twins.
"No, actually," Dipper politely corrected. "Me and my sister actually moved here recently, and uh-"
"It's terrible! They have nowhere to stay!" Star cried dramatically, collapsing to her knees. "Their own parents left their children to fend for themselves until they arrived, but they had no place to call home! No food or water either! So please, Mr. and Mrs. Diaz, do you have it in your precious hearts to let my dear new friends stay with us?" She balled her hands together pleadingly, but not before shooting a wink over to the twins who could only watch in utter confusion.
Angie and Rafael looked at each other, then back at Star, then at Dipper and Mabel, and then back at each other.
"Well of course they can stay," Angie said with a heartfelt smile.
"Seriously?" Dipper and Mabel said in unison.
"You both don't have a place to call your home, so if it's a home you need, it's a home you'll get!" Rafael nonchalantly laughed.
"Besides, we wouldn't want you kids to sleep out on the streets at night," Angie said kindly. "It's the least we can do for your situation."
"And with more people around, the more fun things we can do together," Rafael beamed with a delighted grin.
"Maybe we can do that twisty game with six people now!" Star exclaimed with a bright smile. "It's always so hard playing it with just the four of us."
"That's because we can barely cooperate because nobody listens to me when we play it," Marco said, exasperated.
"Well, seeing that you two brought your bags, why don't you both make yourselves at home upstairs," Angie informed. "We have a spare room that you could use, or I'm sure Star and Marco wouldn't mind a new bunkmate."
Star let out an enlightened gasp. "We can be bunkmates, Mabel!" she exclaimed excitedly.
"Aw yeah! Bunkmates!" Mabel returned the same amount of excitement as the two high-fived.
"I always kinda wanted to bunkmate," Marco said to Dipper. "T-that's if you want to be my bunkmate though, the spare room is still yours. No pressure whatsoever."
"I guess I wouldn't mind being bunkmates," Dipper said. "I mean, I already had to deal with being bunkmates with my sister before." Mabel overheard Dipper's little joke and pulled his hat over his eyes.
"I'm sure you two are hungry, so how about we get you both something to eat?" Angie asked with a grin, heading to the kitchen. "We have some leftover pasta that I could quickly heat up, so this won't take too long. How about you kids show them to your rooms."
"Aw yeah! About time I show you where you'll be staying," Star beamed as she hurryingly grabbed Mabel's wrist before shooting off upstairs.
"Bunkmates! Bunkmates! Bunkmates!" Mabel excitedly chanted as she went further up the stairs with a following Waddles.
"Your sister seems pretty happy about all this," Marco acknowledged as he and Dipper walked upstairs, noticing a bit of similarity between her and Star.
"Oh yeah, that's just how she functions," Dipper replied, secretly wishing his sister was more cautious. While Marco seemed like a regular, ordinary kid, Dipper couldn't help but shake the feeling off him that the teen, and an extension of his parents, were being used by Star in some way. He knew that Star was keeping some form of secret and was using the princess role as an act for something far more suspicious.
However, unbeknownst to the Diaz household, a mysterious figure lingered in the trees, watching the kids head upstairs through a pair of binoculars. Whoever was watching them kept themselves hidden within the thick leaves despite their large build before letting out a low, gruff laugh as they slid out of view.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter! It was a pain to write because of trying to keep everyone in-character, but I still had fun. I also would like to point out this takes place in season 1 of SVTFOE as it's the season I know enjoy best, and also because I hadn't watched the show past season 2 as I know that everyone really hates the finale and all that, so I'm just gonna avoid that altogether. I don't have much else to say but if you could I do appreciate feedback! You could favorite/follow but reviews are where it's at.
Anyways, until next time.
