A/N: Hello and welcome back to another chapter in this story.
Once again, HowInMadeHowie helped me with the finer details in this chapter. I also want to thank him for his patience with me this time around, as we had some major revisions from the original draft.
That should not be an excuse for the delay again, but we both had some RL problems to deal with, i for example had a small case off depression and had to fight through it to find the motivation to work on this chapter after HowInMadeHowie had found some plotbunnys.
The second reason for the delay is, that this chapter is completly original, as it play's during a timeframe where canon just says "And Harry got some cake's"
I hope you all got the notification that i updated this story, it seems that there is a big problem with the mail service, but i noticed that the App at least updates the story you followed.
I hope you all find this chapter entertaining, and until next time.
It was a sunny day in London. People were wandering through the city or sitting in one of the many cafés and enjoying the sun. In one of those cafés sat Hermione with Daphne and Susan, while the parents from Hermione and Daphne sat at another table discussing the news around the world.
They were close to the Leaky Cauldron, as this was the best place to meet up with each other. The girls were in a discussion of their own. Hermione was sipping from the iced coffee in her cup and sighed. "Now what do we do about Harry's birthday? Should we stay on the muggle side of London or go to Diagon Alley for his presents?"
Susan was drinking tea, her palate not agreeing with the bitter liquid her friend was drinking. "As much as I would like to buy him more Quidditch stuff, with the World cup just three weeks away it would be stupid to buy those things now. My aunt told me that some shops in Diagon Alley were inflating their prices now so at the Quidditch cup it would seem like a deal for the same items. So, I would suggest that we check out the muggle side of London and see what we can find."
Daphne was also drinking tea, sighing in content. "I agree with Susan on that point, it would be a waste of money to buy anything Quidditch related right now. And I think the three of us agree that Harry would also like to have some other things then just Quidditch stuff. I would suggest that we go to Harrods with our parents and then as Susan said, see what we can come up with."
A short time later, the girls were walking through the men's clothes section of Harrods, with Hermione's parents accompanying them. Daphne's father had some urgent business to attend to and her mother wanted to return home to spend time with Daphne's sister Astoria, and so they left their daughter in the competent hands of the Granger family. As the girls were in Harrod's in the men's clothes department and locked at the different shirts on display. They were too distracted with finding out what size they should choose for Harry to notice a tall man being dragged by two women towards shelves of jeans.
The young man wore very loose clothes on his muscular frame, like they were one or two sizes too big. As he was dragged by two women, one with short white hair and the other with long gray hair, he heard them both laugh at his struggle to stand still. The one with the white hair remarked that the man was not really against going shopping with them, or else his strength would have been enough to stand perfectly still. "And be honest Harry, you do see that you need an update to your wardrobe? I mean, how can you move without ripping your shirts into pieces?"
Harry looked down at his honorably older sister with a frown. "Very slowly, Ciri. I do see that I need an update to my wardrobe, but to be honest I do not see why you and Keira need to come with me to Harrod's and pick some new clothes. I am perfectly capable of finding my own clothes, thank you. And in the worst-case scenario, I am sure that John or Fred has something that fits me." This last part was said in a hopeful tone, although Harry knew deep down John hated shopping for clothes as well.
Keira scoffed as she pulled Harry again further into the aisles. "Oh, please Harry, black on black on black is not really a fashion now, is it? And do not say that you would have chosen other colors as well gray does not count. Now stop resisting and just accept that Ciri and I will dress you up a bit. Oh, do remind me from whom you got that shirt and pants from. You really think that John has something smaller?" Keira raised her brow with her sarcastic tone. They both knew that John was still bigger than Harry.
Harry relented and soon found himself in front of a wall of jeans and trousers.
Hermione was still looking at the shirts and wondering if the size would fit Harry when she noticed Ciri coming closer and recognized her from the time they visited Kear Morhen. Waving her hand in a greeting, Hermione walked around the counter top. "Good morning Ciri. How are you? Are you also looking for some new clothes?"
Ciri looked up from the clothes, with a small smile on her lips. " Hey, fancy meeting you here Hermione, No, I am not looking for clothes for me, but for the big guy over there." Ciri pointed out to a tall, muscular man with familiar green eyes and messy black hair.
Daphne and Susan heard the conversation between Hermione and Ciri and turned towards the indicated figure just as Hermione did. The girls saw a tall, muscular man standing by shelves of jeans with a gray-haired woman who held some of them to his body to see if the jeans would look good on him.
Harry had to suppress a laugh when he saw the dawning of recognition on his friends' faces. Daphne's eyes grew big as saucers after looking him up and down. He heard Hermione mumbling something about unfair genetics while Susan had to use her sleeve to clean up some drool in the corner of her lips. Seeing all those expressions from the girls, Harry remembered a small discussion with Maverick on board the Infinity.
Flashback
After Harry had run another round of the obstacle course after his augmentation, he arrived in the mess to eat his meal with John and Fred. Sitting down at a table with his food tray, he heard some marines talking about their free time and how they spend it with their partners.
Harry was blushing a bit, causing Maverick, who was sitting just a bit further down the table, to grin at him. "Well Harry, it seems that you are not very experienced with love. How about we talk about where the babies come from?" Harry facepalmed when he answered. "Really Maverick? I already know that much. But if you want to teach me something, how about how girls think?"
Maverick laughed at this request, telling Harry that this was one of the big mysteries of mankind. "Sometimes, even women do not know what they think. But I can teach you some things alright."
Flashback end
Now with Maverick's lessons, Harry recognized that his three friends all had a crush on him, but something was lacking from the lessons he had. Namely how to react to the revelation when all three were present. Harry thought about it, then Callie reminded him that he would not have to reject any of the three girls because he would have to marry multiple wives due to his status as the heir of multiple houses; Harry relaxed a bit.
Harry was distracted when Keira held another shirt to his frame, mumbling to herself. Looking up to Harry, she frowned. She placed the shirt back on the rack with another sigh. "Well, even if the designs here are beautiful, nothing is your size according to the note Catherine gave us. I still wonder how Triss got all the clothes for John back then. We have to find a shop that would custom make your clothes, Harry."
Harry thought that they could just use a shrinking or enlargement charm on the clothes that would not fit him, but he did not want to argue with Keira.
Hermione's parents had listened to them and Samuel suddenly had an idea. "I heard from a shop in the city who does high quality customs jobs. It is a bit expensive to be honest, but I am sure they have what you are looking for. How about we take the bus there and then see what we can find?"
Harry nodded thankfully, while Keira and Ciri looked at each other with a grin. Keira then turned back towards Samuel and asked how he knew of such a shop.
Samuel shook his head with a smile on his own. "I hear many things in my clinic while talking with the patients. Sometimes I hear where they get their new clothes and then check it out with my wife, as she has a better sense of fashion than me and can tell me how it looks on me."
The group soon sat in a double-decker bus and watched the houses passing them at slow speed, as it was normal for traffic to be this dense during the summer. Once again Harry wished he could just fly to his destination, but that would compromise the statute of secrecy. Harry notices the glances he received from the other travelers because of his height. He knew that it was not common for a man to be this tall, but he found it ridiculous how if you were only a head taller than the others, you were treated differently.
The group soon arrived at their destination, and Harry gladly left the bus with his companions. Taking in a deep breath, he coughed as he had gotten a deluge of exhaust fumes from a passing car. "Honestly, how can people live in the midst of the city? The air is so bad here."
Entering the shop after finding it across the street, the group saw different kinds of suits and other clothes on display. They then were greeted by a man appearing in his 50's, who had a curious gaze upon them. The obvious shopkeeper greeted the group with a humble smile. "Welcome to my shop, Taylor's Tales, I'm Tim Taylor and this is the shop that can tailor every style of clothing to your heart's desire. How can I help you?"
Harry looked at the different kinds of suits while Keira and Ciri looked at the options in the catalog for the other clothes. But something caught his eye and he decided to investigate this. Walking closer to Mr Taylor, Harry soon found what he was looking for.
Mr Taylor noticed Harry's gaze and grinned. "So, you noticed Mr. Potter. Quite the eye you have." He looked up to Harry's scar, which was faded but still visible.
Harry grinned and leaned closer to the old man. "Well, as you know who I am, I wonder what a wizard is doing in an obvious muggle shop. And please relax, everyone in the shop right now knows about the magical world. But I have to admit, for someone who would not look for a wand, it would be impossible to see it peeking out of your vest pocket."
Mr. Taylor took out his wand from his enchanted pocket of his vest and waved it through the air, casting a privacy charm over the whole shop and turning the sign on the door to Closed for Lunch. "Please forgive my precautions, ladies and sir, but that stupid statute of secrecy has to be upheld even in my grandfather's old shop. This shop has stood since 1928 as my grandfather founded the family business. My father then took it over from when I was accepted into Hogwarts in the early 40's. And after I finished Hogwarts, I apprenticed under my father here in this shop to take it over from my father. As for keeping my wand in the open, as well as open as I could anyway, I enchanted my clothes so only magicals could see the wand. Now, I guess you need a new wardrobe?" Mr Taylor directed his question at Harry.
The next hour were spent with Ciri, Keira and Harry's friends judging Harry in the samples Mr. Taylor had prepared, using his spells to adjust the size. Keira was also looking over the different fabrics and asking questions. Mr. Taylor answered truthfully, especially when the sorceress asked about if he could add some protective abilities to the clothes.
Mr Taylor paused in thought as he considered Keira's question, nodding slowly he had a thoughtful look as he considered Keira's question. "I understand that Mr. Potter must protect himself, just in case some Death Eaters on the run are still after him. We can use runes woven into the clothes that have a similar attribute to the protection charm, but nothing too fancy or the runes would be obvious. But it should be enough for normal jinxes and hexes to bounce off. I will contact a friend of mine who was the best in runes during my years in Hogwarts, surely, she can solve this issue. With this, the clothes should be finished within the week or even earlier if my friend has the time now. I will send her an owl as soon as I get back to Diagon Alley today, as I cannot send one from here because I got some nosy neighbors and we almost got caught years ago when You-Know-Who was defeated." Mr. Taylor looked outside the window to the shop across the street, which had some apartments above it,, where an old woman could be seen watching the shop from her window.
Harry thanked Mr. Taylor for his time and patience when taking his measurements and paid half of the price up front, as he would pay the rest after he would come to collect the clothes. After all of that was done, they left the shop where Harry's friends said their goodbyes as he walked into a small alleyway where Keira opened a portal back to Kear Morhen.
Watching her friend disappearing in the alleyway, Hermione sighed and turned towards her parents, who were still with them even after they had visited a magical shop outside of Diagon Alley. "Thank you for your patience, Dad. I know it is not easy to shop with all these women around you."
Samuel laughed and pointed with his thumb over to his wife. "Nonsense Hermione, you know your mother. You should have seen her before you were born, I spent almost every weekend in a shopping center with her and just looking at the shop displays. So, I am used to it."
When Harry woke up a few days later, he was surprised at the small mountain of presents by the foot of his bed. "Hey Callie, what day is it?"
Thanks to the upgraded chip in his neck he could hear his partner in his mind as well seeing her standing next to his bed smiling. "Oh Harry, please don't play dumb. Happy birthday Harry!"
Harry smiled back at her, thanking Callie as he stood up from his bed and picked up some clothes to wear after he had showered in the bathroom. While the water was flowing down his body, he wondered if John would train him today in the woods, as the obstacle courses in Kear Morhen needed an update due to Harry's augmentation. He was sure that it should be finished soon. As the marines from the worked on a course more difficult down in their base.
Since Harry was now a Spartan, he had access to almost everything inside the base and he had used this privilege since they came back to the planet. Although Harry wondered when he'd start his underwater training with John.
But for today, Harry hoped that he could relax and just enjoy the day. After he had left the bathroom and got dressed, he looked over the parcels in front of his bed.
Harry called Dobby, asking him if Dobby had placed the parcels here. The house elf bowed deeply and explained why there are so many presents on Harry's bed. "Many owls came last night, Master Harry, with packages addressed to you. Dobby took the liberty to take the packages and bring them to Master Harry's bed. Dobby also included an answer letter for every owl to bring back to their owners, thanking them as they thought about Master Harry's birthday. Please excuse Dobby, Master Harry, but Dobby needs to finish preparing breakfast."
Harry thanked Dobby and watched his friend pop away back to the kitchen. Harry walked over to the pile of presents and took the first from the top of the pile. Reading the note attached to it, he smiled when he read the words that Susan had written to him. Opening the box after unwrapping the wrapping paper from Susan, he found a small compass which he could fasten to his broom when he would travel further distances.
Making a reminder to himself to thank her when they went to the Quidditch World Cup, he stored the compass in his trunk that laid in front of his bed. He did not know when he would need the compass, as he had Callie with the GPS system to guide him when he flew far on his broom, but he felt like he needed this gift close to him.
Picking up the next gift, it was obvious that it was from Hermione. Just from the size of it, Harry mused to himself, 'What are the odds it was another book?' It seemed that he was right when he removed the paper and saw the cover of an advanced dueling book. Harry thought that he already had this book. But when he looked at the author, he saw that it was someone different, a fact that was also pointed out by Callie as he skimmed through the book. Callie gave him her results of her comparative analysis and said that some of the information in this book is vastly different yet similar to the one Susan gave him. Callie theorized that, like there are different styles of swordsmanship and martial arts, there must also be different styles of dueling. Harry nodded his agreement that this was a logical conclusion; he had to wonder how many different dueling styles there were in the world, something he was sure Professor Flitwick would know.
Placing the book on his nightstand to read later before packing it in his trunk; he soon took the next present on his pile. It was another small box, inside he found a small gold chain with a golden wolf attached to it. As it was in a fighting/defensive stance, he guessed that it had a certain meaning that Daphne wanted to convey and took the note that had his name in her handwriting.
Harry could almost hear Daphne's voice as he read the note. "Happy Birthday Harry! I hope you like my gift. When I saw it, I thought of you. I had a dream, where you were protecting us with determination like a wolf protecting his pack. And just a day later, I saw this piece in a jeweler shop in London while I was walking with my parents. Enjoy the rest of your day, see you soon."
Harry looked at the wolf again, deciding to place it in a secure part of his trunk until he knew what to do with it.
Grabbing the next present from the pile, Harry recognized the wrapping paper, as Hagrid had used the same paper since Harry got his first present from the half-giant. Unwrapping it, he saw a cake with his name written on it with Hagrid's unmistakable scrawl. Harry smiled and put the cake on his bedside table so he would take it with him to breakfast. Harry was sure that they could eat Hagrid's cake later today as a dessert. Reminding himself that he almost got a cake from the gentle giant for his birthday since his first year, where he got Hedwig from Hagrid, Harry wanted to thank him properly when he would see the gamekeeper again.
Picking up the next present, Harry could feel that this one was expensive just from the weight of it. When he opened the present, Harry was surprised to find a shrunken trunk that still had some considerable weight to it for its size. Looking at the note, he saw that it was from Sirius who said that it was a whole set of Quidditch balls to train, even if Harry only needed a snitch. The thought was that when some friends came over, they could have a proper match if they wanted to. Harry could only think of Ron or his team playing with him, but the situation would never happen in Kear Morhen, but Harry was still thankful as he could use these later in his life for sure.
Harry walked down to the main hall to eat his breakfast after Dobby told him that it was ready. He found out that the other occupants of the castle were already waiting for him with another cake on the table. He thanked them for wishing him a happy birthday.
Harry then opened the present that Geralt had given him. Unwrapping it, Harry saw that it was a similar box like he had for his PPK, only bigger. Thinking about it, his old pistol seemed very small in his hand now. When Harry opened the box with the key Geralt handed him, Harry saw a giant pistol inside it.
Geralt saw Harry's surprise and smiled while he explained where he got this gun. "This is a Desert Eagle XIX, chambered in .50 Action Express, (AE) for short. Unfortunately it only has a seven round magazine, but you'll find extra clips in the box. An extremely powerful handgun; deserving the nickname hand cannon. I bought it when I was in Israel, soon they will be using that gun in their special forces. I suggest you go to the shooting range afterwards and get yourself familiar with it." Geralt then placed a few boxes of ammunition for the Desert Eagle, also nodding towards John. Geralt had a serious look on his face as he one last point to add about the gun. "Oh and one more thing, once you cover the grip with your blood, nobody but you can hold it." Geralt nodded to Yen who had a grim look on her face of the idea of Harry getting a gun for his birthday but Geralt offered her a way to contribute. "You can thank Yen for the last bit."
Harry then got a medium sized box from John, who told him that this was a present from him and Triss. Inside the box was a big knife as he had seen before, but it felt good in Harry's hand, very well balanced. It looked like the knife from the movie First Blood. Harry reached into the box to pull the knife out to see that it was nearly 14" long with a 9" blade. Harry frowned as it didn't feel like steel.
John also explained that the knife was made of titanium not steel as it would be lighter than a steel knife., but Triss has engraved runes into it so it will always be sharp. The runes also prevented anyone besides Harry from holding the knife without Harry's permission, if someone grabbed the handle without him touching the knife they would receive a nasty shock. Triss explained it was the same protection on his gun, Harry just needed to cover it with his blood and it was bound to him.
Harry could give the knife to someone if he held it on the blade and the handle towards the other person. Harry had to agree with John that the sword of Gryffindor would leave traces of basilisk venom in the victims, which could reveal who had killed the victim. Even if that possibility was very small, it still existed. With this, he could fight with his GUNGNIR armor without revealing his secret.
Harry thought that it was a good idea, even if the only people who knew that Harry held the sword of Gryffindor were the goblins and the ones living in this castle, as well Hermione, Daphne and Susan since Harry had shown them the blade last summer. But Harry understood that it was better to be safe than sorry.
He then told Callie to produce his GUNGNIR, but leave the helmet off. Standing straight, Harry placed the knife with the leather sheath on his back; a spot where he could reach it easily with his left hand, as he would hold his pistol in his right hand. After making sure the knife was secure Harry picked up the Desert Eagle with its hostler and attached it to his right thigh, where the magclamp held it in place. Harry then reached into the lockbox and placed the empty clips into a compartment on his armor's belt to store for later when he and John can load them.
Once he was done equipping his armor he decided to test one of the key features that made this armor truly unique. Telling Callie to store the GUNGNIR back in its storage space Harry reached to his right thigh as if he was about to draw an imaginary gun only to feel the Desert Eagle's grip in his hand. Harry grinned at Geralt and asked. "Think I could be a quick draw artist?" Geralt shook his head amused, he knew how much faster Harry is now after seeing him run from the recording of his time on Infinity. Geralt suggested testing the knife's retrieval and putting it back into its sheath next. Harry nodded and reached behind his back with his left hand and pulled out his knife, Harry looked at it and had a thought. " I think I'm going to call this Fang, seeing it'll cut through mostly anything." Harry then reached back with his right hand to retrieve the sheath to place the knife Fang back inside; as if he was still wearing his armor he placed the knife in its sheath on his back and he felt the knife become part of GUNGNIR again.
Once he was satisfied that he could retrieve and store the new equipment , they ate their breakfast before Harry and John would go to the range and try out the Desert Eagle.
But just as they wanted to leave the main hall, Catherine called Harry to her laboratory to give him his present. Wondering what she got for him after all the augmentation and the GUNGNIR, he handed the box of ammo and told John he'd meet him outside and Harry followed her down to her lab.
When Catherine opened the door to her lab, Harry entered and waved at Kalmiya, who was standing patiently on her pedestal, while Catherine was walking over to a cupboard. "Ah, here it is. Here Harry, your personal rune carving set. It should help you maintain GUNGNIR in case one of the runes would be damaged as well as maintaining your other equipment on the field. You should have learned enough in Hogwarts to make these repairs yourself, but in case it would be too complicated then Callie can assist you with your augmentations. Again, Happy Birthday Harry."
Soon, the 22. August came around, the day for the Quidditch World Cup to happen, and Harry waited in a field together with John and Triss for Sirius and his friends to show up. Sirius had written them a letter to make sure that Harry would wait here, so they all could travel to the location where the ministry had constructed the stadium. Harry was not as sleepy as Triss was, who leaned on John's shoulder with almost partially closed eyes.
As they had a few weeks between Harry´s birthday and the Quidditch Final to happen, Harry trained with his new weapons back in Kear Morhen, just to be prepared in case of an emergency. Shortly after his birthday Harry got a message from Mr Taylor his new clothes were ready to be picked up and he and Keira took a portal near the shop to check that the new clothes fit. Harry was thankful for this so he would not show up meeting his friends wearing John's clothes still.
But today, Harry tried not to think of the possibility for something bad to happen and tried to just enjoy the warm cool morning weather.
Harry checked his time on his HUD and saw he should be get moving to meet the Grangers. Knowing he had a schedule to keep he decided to jog over to where he found Hermione arriving with her parents. They had agreed to meet close to a bus stop so they would look like they were going on a hike.
Hermione frowned not seeing Chief Wulf or Triss with him. "How far of a walk do we have to go?"
Harry shrugged nonchalantly as if he wasn't a big deal. "A few kilometers." Harry paused at Hermione's aghast look. "Uphill."
Hermione groaned and shook her head, turning to look at her parents to see their reaction. To her surprise they were all smiles. It seems her parents were no stranger to long walks. Hermione sighed in resignation and looked at Harry with a strained smile. "Lead the way Harry. I suppose I should've expected this. I wish I had taken more care to get physically fit like you."
Smiled brightly. "I'm sure John would gladly take you up for more of his classes this year. But we can't dawdle, we have a schedule to keep so best get a move on." With that Harry turned back around and started walking uphill back to where he arrived.
John and Triss did not have to wait long until soon John heard the small pop close by and both looked towards the sound. They saw Madam Bones was looking for them with Susan, while with another pop Daphne appeared right next to Amelia with her mother. Just as they found Harry and the Grangers, although John looked down and saw Hermione was having a hard time with her trek uphill.
Soon Sirius appeared a few meters away from them. "Ah, good, I am not as late as I thought I was. My alarm charm was set at the right time, but here we are. Thank you, Amelia, for bringing the girls with you. Dare I ask you if you work today?" Sirius frowned as he glanced around the field. "Where's Harry and the Grangers?" John pointed down in the direction of where Harry was coming back uphill.
Amelia shook her head as an answer. "No Sirius, I am off today, but I am on call in case something major happens. You know how such big events can attract some problematic people that are just out to cause trouble. Speaking of which." She gave him a pointed look that had Sirius, who was leaning back a bit with an innocent smile. She then continued speaking to Sirius in a warning tone that sounded to the teenagers like Professor McGonagall. "I hope you do not plan to use this event to prank some people like you did during school? As I recall, Remus will also be there. Two out of four Marauders in a prank war is something we do not need right now."
Sirius was taken aback, with a hand on his heart as if he was wounded. "AH Amelia! whatever made you think I would do something like that?" He soon began to chuckle nervously seeing Amelia's pointed stare, lifting his hands to appease the woman before him. "Don't worry Amelia, I do not plan to prank anyone except those who deserve it. And Remus was always the calm and collected one, he would rip me a new one if I would start a prank war with anyone."
Harry finally returned and walked over to the three girls who gathered to greet each other. He also thanked them for the birthday presents, but also apologized to Hermione. "Sorry, Hermione, I almost thought I had that book already until I noticed the authors were different. Please do not misunderstand, I am still happy that you thought of me and brought me a gift. I came to realize, upon reading your gift, that there must be different dueling techniques."
Hermione was looking up at Harry with a smile on her face. "Ah yes, that book. I knew that you already had a similar one, but when I found this one in the books store, I noticed that some tactics were different. So I thought, you may appreciate it to see that there are more flexible ways to duel. And maybe, you will also beat Susan in the dueling club a bit more often then you have until now." Susan, upon hearing the last bit, objected that Harry does not need help beating her in a duel.
Daphne was looking Harry up and down, still not used to it for him to have grown so much. Harry's clothes also were exactly the right size for him to show his frame, but not too tight. When Daphne marveled on the broad shoulders Harry had, she noticed that Hermione did the same thing.
Amelia turned around, seeing Harry for the first time since he had grown so much for herself. She had heard from Susan that he was much taller then by the end of the last school year, but with John right next to Harry it was almost funny how tall the young witcher now was. And when Sirius stepped closer to Harry to ask the young witcher what kind of spell was used to make him this tall, Amelia shook her head while holding her stomach because she laughed so hard.
As Sirius calmed himself down again after being surprised on how tall Harry now is as well how much muscles the young boy seemed to have gained since the last time Sirius had seen him, he looked around the ground and was looking for something.
Triss asked him if he had lost something, to which he turned towards her. "I'm looking for the portkey to travel to the campgrounds the organizers have reserved for us. If you find something that looks like garbage please tell me. We then have to gather around it and touch it before it is activated. " Sirius explained as he looked around for the portkey in question.
Triss stepped closer to Sirius, a grin on her lips. Asking if he could show her on a map where the Quidditch cup would be held, Sirius looked intrigued at the sorceress. Conjuring a map of England, he pointed to a small wood close to the coast in the west. "It should be close to here. But why do you ask?"
Triss still smiled as she opened her arms and moved her hands in a circle. "How about we go now, without a portkey? To be honest, I do not like to travel via portkey." As soon as she had finished the sentence, a portal opened and behind the opening they could see some tents behind the trees.
Sirius began to laugh, chastising himself for forgetting that Triss was indeed able to open up portals. "Well now that this is sorted out, may we walk through and enjoy the rest of the day? I already paid for our spot in advance, so all I need to do is to find out where we can set up our tents."
As everyone present walked through the portal, Hermione's parents felt a bit queasy after coming out on the other side. After Samuel calmed down enough, he smiled and turned around to ask Triss about the portal. "Wow, is this how magical people normally travel? If so, why do the students still use a steam train?"
Amelia smiled at the wondrous gaze from the two muggles. She explained to Samuel that this mode of travel was not a normal method.
Amelia took over explaining the legal side to why students travel by train."And as for why the students travel by train to Hogwarts, there are laws against the use of portals or apparition travel except for emergencies. Because of that, all the students have to go by train to Hogwarts."
Sirius just shrugged his shoulders while Amelia did explain the finer details of the laws, as he left the group to go to the entrance and tell the owner of the campgrounds that they had arrived, just to make sure that their spot would not be double booked.
Hermione took upon herself to lead her parents through all the witches and wizards that were hiding their magic as they tried to look like muggles camping. But some tents were obviously magical, as those had either a small garden right in front or even a small tower on top of the tent.
Harry saw some wizards running between the tents while looking in distress. Harry guessed that they worked for the ministry and were trying to keep the statute of secrecy up. It seemed to be a hopeless endeavor though, as Harry jumped back when a toddler on a toy broom flew by, with another ministry official right behind him, mumbling something that was irresponsible of parents who should be watching their children.
Sirius soon was back, with a small map in hand with the spot marked where they could set up their tents. Leading the group, Harry observed all the different visitors from obviously other countries. Callie did her best to filter out the interesting chatter with subtitles if Harry did not know the language, but after a minute Harry told her that she did not have to do that. Harry just wanted to look around.
They soon arrived at their spot, with Sirius telling them that they had enough space for four tents and a firepit to grill some food. After Sirius had made sure that no one was watching them, he pulled out his wand and waved it through the air. The tents he had brought with him in a shrunken state came out of his backpack, removed the shrinking charm and erected themselves.
Sirius clapped his hands after putting his wand back in the holster proud of his handiwork. When he turned around and saw Amelia staring at him with a frown on her face Sirius had a sheepish look on his face. "What? Nobody saw!" Amelia raised a brow at him, challenging that "nobody". Sirius chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "Well, except you of course, but you're not on duty."
Amelia rolled her eyes in exasperation and shook her head. "You're lucky we're far away from the muggle owner of the campgrounds."
All the while Harry and John prepared the firepit. Hermione and her parents were in awe after Sirius showed them their tent where they could sleep.
