Memories Of Her-Ch 24
The next morning everybody was enjoying a delicious breakfast together when Hotch's cell started ringing, he pulled it from his belt and stood up and walked out of the room to take the call, when he got into the living room he said, "Hotchner".
He listened as the voice on the other end said, "yes, is this Agent Aaron Hotchner of the BAU?", Hotch said, "yes, this is he, how may I help you?", the voice said, "hello Mr. Hotchner, my name is Judge Thomas Kade, I'm the judge handling the case involving two of your agents".
Hotch said, "yes sir", the judge continued by saying, "I understand that Agent Morgan and Agent Garcia Morgan are unable to travel right now, correct?", he said, "that is correct sir", Thomas then said, "the reason that I'm contacting you is that I need to set up a time where I can speak to your two agents via video chat".
After the judge was finished speaking Hotch said, "any time is good for Derek and Penelope sir, when were you wanting to speak to them?", Thomas siad, "I was thinking later today, how about around noon, would that work?", Hotch said, "that would be fine sir, I'll have them ready for your call".
Thomas said, "I take it that you will be representing your two agents?", Hotch said, "yes sir I will if that's okay with you?", Thomas said, "yes, that's fine but also with me will be both defendants also joining via video chat and their attorneys of course".
Hotch said, "of course your honor", Thomas said, "thank you Agent Hotchner for all of your help, I wouldn't call if it weren't an urgent matter", Aaron said, "not a problem your honor but if you don't mind I do have a question about Ms. Hayes's unborn child?", Thomas said, "continue Agent".
Thomas listened as Hotch asked, "what will happen to the child if both parents go to prison?", Thomas said, "well, if they both go to prison I guess the child will become a ward of the state, well that is unless family of the defendants will take the child in", Hotch nodded his head and said, "thank you sir, I'll go inform my agents about the video chat that is scheduled for later today".
Thomas said, "thank you Agent Hotchner", Aaron said, "you are very welcome sir, thank you" and after the call ended Hotch headed back to the kitchen to fill Derek and Penelope in on what had just happened.
Penelope and Derek looked up at him as he filled them in and Derek said, "well. we both knew that this was coming and I'd rather do this now and get it over with", Penelope nodded her head and said, "me too and at least here we're with all of you so that will definitely help".
Fran looked at Hotch and said, "what will happen to Savannah's baby after it's born?", Hotch said, "if neither of the families want the child, it will become a ward of the state", Penelope looked at Derek and then at Hotch and said, "what if we take the child?", Derek said, "waitttttt, what?", Penelope said, "I'm not saying definitely, I'm just asking hotstuff that's all".
Hotch said, "well if neither family wants the child then I presume that the judge would give you both legal custody", Derek said, "I don't know if I could look at that child everyday, knowing, remembering that Savannah did to me, how she kept me locked up in that basement for all of those months, keeping me away from my family".
Penelope put her hand on his and said, "but the child is innocent", Derek blew out a deep breath and said, "we'll see what happens, we will talk and talk and talk some more about this", she nodded her head yes as the family then continued eating their breakfast because they had a few things to get done before they were to video chat with the judge.
