Chapter 33: The F̶̦̤̿͜a̵̩̞̯̚ĩ̴̥̣̚t̷͇͝ḥ̷̼̟̄͌

5/29, Sunday

DEADLINE: June 5th

DAYS UNTIL LEGAL ACTION: 7

Steal Madarame's heart.

•Akira•

Harajuku was… about what he expected for a place called the 'fashion capital.' The various outfits… some of them looked weirder than their Metaverse attire. Well, his Joker wear at least looked good, but that was only natural. Especially that trench coat. Skull's clothing though…

As if he could sense Akira digging at his outfit, Ryuji elbowed him. He just grinned back, while Mishima and Ann looked around at the various shops and people wandering about.

He'd woken up that morning to a series of texts from Ryuji, talking about how Mishima had gotten excited about some supposed target and going to Harujuku to scout around. Ryuji realistically realized— Heh— that Mishima would probably get himself into some kind of trouble, so invited Ann and himself to join Mishima and hopefully keep him out of danger.

"It's crowded, just like I expected! The perfect place to begin our investigation…" the dark-haired boy nodded as he looked around, then grinned at the three members of the Phantom Thieves. "But I gotta say, I wasn't expecting all of you to come along."

Ann shrugged. "I had a photoshoot nearby, so I figured, why not?"

"Uh, but why Harajuku?"

"Well, Harajuku's this big cultural hub, right? People from all over the world come here. So that means there might be all kinds of international villains walking around in broad daylight!"

"Uh-huh…"

Ann had a similar reaction to his. "I dunno if I get that logic…"

"Uh, for example…" Mishima turned and looked over the crowd, before picking one out. "Oh, check that guy out! He's definitely suspicious! I mean, who wears black leather long coats at this time of year?! He's gotta be shady! And all those belts must be supplies so he can tie people up… oh man… Do you think he's an escaped convict?!"

"I think you're letting your imagination get to you, Mishima."

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's just a goth style."

"Really?" Akira tilted his head. "I thought that was punk? Wait, what's the difference between punk and goth? No, don't answer that, I'm sure I can figure it out…"

Morgana sighed from his bag. "I think Lady Ann would know more than you when it comes to fashion."

Mishima didn't hear the exchange and shook his head. "But my phantom thief senses are tingling! Don't you think he's suspicious, Akira?"

"Hey, I'm all for black, could use some red, but even I think that's a bit much in this weather. Though, you're, uh, tingling?"

"Yup. I mean, 'cause I'm the Phantom aficionado Website admin, and— look, my tingling isn't important! You know what I mean!"

"If you think he's that suspicious, go talk to 'em."

"Huh? Me?"

"You're the one who's all hyped 'bout this investigation, right? So hey. Go up to the guy and ask. 'Yo, Captain Trenchcoat! Sorry to bother you, but are you an escaped convict?'"

"You've got to be kidding! He'd have that belt around my neck before I even finished talking!"

Ann shook her head as she spoke with Mishima. "It's normal to see people dressed in unusual clothes here. Honestly, I think it's kinda cool. Like they've got the confidence to wear whatever they want, you know? Like… nothing's gonna keep them from expressing their own style. Right, guys?"

"Yeah, cool or not, they're definitely not lettin' anyone hold them back."

"What about you, Akira?"

"I miss the country." Everyone laughed, and he shrugged with a smile. "But honestly, I kind of want to try it myself."

"Whoa, really? I guess we can spend the day transforming you! I'm thinkin' heart-shaped glasses… dye your hair red and blue… and we'll get you a big puffy laminated coat."

He raised an eyebrow at his friend. "Is that what you think Eaglelanders should look like?"

"Well, I didn't say the coat should also be white."

"You just wanna make him wear the weirdest stuff you can find. I'll coordinate Akira's wardrobe." She leaned back onto one foot and narrowed her eyes as she looked him over. "We could go for a bad boy look, or maybe something princely… you've got good potential, so this should be fun."

Her words devolved into mutters as she continued imagining outfits, and Ryuji looked at him with a grin. "Ooh, tough luck dude. I think you're about to become a living mannequin for the next few hours."

"It can't be that bad."

"I've known her since Middle school, remember? I've seen Shiho's face the day after one of Ann's sprees. She was dead on her feet."

"Anyway, no more judging people on their appearance," Ann cut in, apparently having finished her introspection. "If they're wearing what they want to wear, that's something to admire. Heck, I'd say it means they're honest. Not like people who seem nice on the outside, but turn out to be terrible."

"Yeah, I guess you're right…"

Morgana huffed at Mishima. "Lady Ann is absolutely right! After all, I look like a cat, but I'm actually a dashing, noble gentleman!" Mishima, of course, did not understand what the meows meant.

"Now that I think about it, it's kinda Harajuku-ey to walk around with a cat in a bag."

Ann giggled at Ryuji's thoughts. "True! He's like a really specialized fashion accessory."

"I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who could pull it off."

"Is… that a compliment?" Morgana muttered. "I guess you're lucky, Akira. You can get popular just by having me around."

"Mm, lucky me."

"So, Mishima… I take it you didn't actually have any leads here."

"…Nope."

Ann sighed. "Yeah, figures. Well, as long as we're here, let's have some fun."

"Then let's get Akira dressed up! Oh, and Mishima too. Maybe Ann can get rid of your weird anti-Harajuku prejudice."

"Huh?! Me too?! …Actually… if I've got any hidden talent in fashion, this'd be the perfect chance to discover it."

"Lady Ann, Lady Ann! Help me get fashionable too!"

"All right! We can squeeze in a trip to the pet shop for Morgana!"

"I'm not a pet!"

Mishima tilted his head as Morgana yowled. "You know, Akira… sometimes it sounds like your cat's really joining in on the conversation…"

"He's a magic cat."

"I'm NOT A CAT! But I am magic! Got that, Mishima?!"

"Huh…"

"Then let's get going! Just follow me— I know a place!"

"It's all you, Ms. Fashionista!" As Ann grabbed his sleeve and dragged him behind her, he raised an eyebrow at Ryuji, who was trailing behind with Mishima.

"Why are you so happy about getting involved with this?"

"She's gonna be using you two as her mannequins, I don't gotta worry 'bout nothin', meaning I get to enjoy the show!"

"Uh-huh. Hey Ann, think Ryuji needs a wardrobe update too?"

"Hmm… yeah, you're right, don't worry Ryuji, I'll have you sorted too!"

"Ah, wait, Ann, I'm good!"

Ω • Ω • Ω

"So… will he even take it seriously?" The group had met up at their 'hideout', discussing the calling card after Ann had finally gotten her fix of dressing everyone up. While everyone had agreed to his idea of how to deliver it, they still needed to decide on what it would look like. "He is famous, after all… he has often received slanderous letters till now, as well."

"He'll know best whether the crime written on it is for real or not."

"Wait, are you going to write it again, Ryuji? Even with Akira helping you, the last one was questionable at best…"

"You should do it then, Yusuke! Oh! Make it really artistic and stuff!"

The violet-haired boy shook his head at Ann's words. "No. It'll end with him figuring it out. He knows my drawing and writing styles all too well."

"Oh, then I'll think it up, and you make it cooler!"

"Designing a calling card, Hm? Interesting. It shall become proof that the Phantom Thieves do exist."

"It's decided then!"

"Great! All that's left is to make the Treasure ours! You guys better come fully prepared! Come on, Akira!" He looked over from where he had been watching the crowds, keeping an eye out in case anyone was trying to listen in, specifically one red-eyed student council president, and nodded.

"Sounds good. Let's get this done, everyone. Yusuke, we'll see you tomorrow. Do some good work on the card, you two. Morgana will meet you at the exhibit to handle the distribution."

"Heh! We've got this!" He shared a fist bump with Ryuji and a smile with Ann before they all separated.

"Alright. Morgana, you know what trains to take to get to the exhibit?"

"I've got the route memorized! Don't worry, I'll be able to get there easily!"

He smirked as he descended a set of stairs towards Station Square. "Just keep an eye out for animal catchers."

"Oh please! They'd never get their grubby mitts on me!"

"Alright, alright. Well, I'm going to spend some time with Yoshida. Stressing the night before won't do me any good. You get some rest."

"Hmph. As long as you don't stay out too late!"

The orator noticed him as he walked up and smiled. "Ah, Starr-san. Here to help?"

"Ready and willing." He smiled back and took the sign that was handed to him. He stood next to the older man as he resumed his speech, listening closely, both intrigued by the speech itself and Yoshida's speaking abilities.

Time passed as he quietly watched him and the crowds walking by, Morgana going to sleep in his bag. "…Passing on the societal ills we have created to the next generation is not right! It will take time to solve this problem. However, we must start by making small changes!"

Eventually, the speech ended and Yoshida turned to him with a kind smile. "I hope you gleaned something from today's speech. Regardless of the audience's size you must convey your thoughts as if you're talking one-on-one."

"I saw. You made sure you were constantly looking someone new in the eyes so that they knew they were being acknowledged."

"Ahah, I'm glad. By the way, I forgot to ask you last time we spoke. Why do you want to become a politician?"

He paused and thought about his answer. On one hand, he didn't want to become one. On the other, maybe he could follow after Yoshida and become one that actually looked out for others, rather than a politician that only looked out for themselves.

Damn brat!

He twitched at the memory, before shrugging and speaking honestly. "I want to improve my speaking skills, for now."

"Ah, so you're a pragmatist. Most people nowadays are. But that mentality of taking action is the quality of a good politician. May I ask you one more question? What kind of politician do you want to be?"

One who would not trample upon those beneath them, Arsène growled.

"One… with conviction."

Yoshida's smile became slightly brighter. "Yes, don't ever forget that. Although, what's important is what lies within… allow me to give you some advice. If you aspire to get into politics, you must possess a central philosophy. What is it that you want to accomplish…?"

He looked away from Yoshida in thought. Though he wasn't truly looking to become a politician, the man's question did give him pause. With the Phantom Thieves, what was his central philosophy? Giving hope to those who couldn't fight back? Protecting those who couldn't? Yoshida watched him and nodded. "That is the foundation of a great speech. You'd do well to remember that."

"Thank you… this was helpful," he murmured, still lost in thought.

"I'm glad. By the way, my philosophy is 'Never give up until your voice is heard!' To get your message across, be tenacious in conveying your thoughts to the audience. Have a firm point of view, and communicate it clearly— that's the first rule of negotiating." Yoshida laughed suddenly. "You have me reliving the fighting spirit I had when I first became a politician."

Akira smiled as Yoshida continued to explain the basics of speech-giving, chains crashing in his head as his bond grew deeper.

RANK UP!

Sun Arcana, Man of the People: Rank 2

"Get the hell outta here, No-Good Tora!"

"No-good…!" Yoshida visibly flinched back as the angry man walked away, then sighed and closed his eyes. "They're right… I am no good…"

"What? Yoshida, you just…"

"Ah, my apologies. We're done for today." Yoshida didn't let him continue and Akira huffed.

And yet he told thou to never forget the goal of being 'one with conviction.'

'Let's drop it, for today. We have a big day tomorrow.' He walked away, only looking back once at Yoshida's despondent form, before descending into the subway.

DEADLINE: June 5th

DAYS UNTIL LEGAL ACTION: 6

Steal Madarame's heart.

He shrugged and rolled his shoulders as he stepped out into the square wearing his red gym clothes, not used to his bag being so light without Morgana lounging around inside. Though maybe he shouldn't tell the not-cat that, he might think he was calling Morgana fat.

"Sorry, but I'm in a bit of a hurry!"

"You go to Shujin, right?" He looked over towards the noise and saw… Yoshizawa, if he remembered right. A sleazy-looking man was talking with her. "I heard things have been rough there lately, what with that violent incident. You wanna go talk about it somewhere?"

Well, Trickster?

'No need to even say it, Arsène.'

He frowned and began walking over. "Thank you for your concern," Yoshizawa spoke, glaring at the man. "However, I really am in a hurry, so if you'd excuse me…" she began walking away, and he hoped for a moment that would be where it ended before the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. "Ah!"

"C'mon, there's no need to be shy."

"Like I said—"

"If you're busy, I'll put my number in your phone so you can call me later. Sound like a plan?"

"Stop it!"

Yoshizawa attempted to pull away again, but the man didn't relent. Before the creep could do anything else, he walked up, grabbed his shoulder, and pulled him away. "Wha— the hell do you want?"

"I go to Shujin too! Will you really talk to me about it?"

"The hell? I—"

"See, that Kamoshita guy— well, I call him that, but his name is actually Kamoshida… anyway, he was a real piece of shit."

"I don't gi—"

"On my first day there he already hated me! He harassed me and my best friend, and even sexually harassed another friend of mine… I mean, what an asshole, right?! Well, I'm sure you know that since it was all on the news… you probably want some exclusive info since you're a reporter, huh? Well, aren't you gonna write anything down?"

"Listen brat—"

"Alright, so, here are some exclusive insights from a Shujin student! This one time I saw him wearing nothing but a coat! Who does that?! I've never managed to get the image of what was lying underneath out of my mind…"

"Get offa me!" The guy pulled away and Yoshizawa took a step behind Akira, holding onto his sleeve, causing the man to click his tongue in annoyance and wander away. "What're you getting so jumpy about? Like you're anything special!"

What an entertaining show, master, Ame-no-Uzume giggled.

Indeed, my lord, Apsaras commented. You are no dancer, but you would make a good performer.

Yoshizawa watched him go, before sighing. Then, realizing she was still holding his sleeve, backed away. "Thank you so much! I'm sorry for the trouble!"

He just chuckled. "Hey, I understand. Not everyone likes reporters harassing them. No, but seriously. Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine now! It was pretty scary though." She fiddled with her bag a moment, before looking at him. "Ah… um… can I ask you something? What made you step in to help me?"

"What? Because I couldn't just stand there, obviously." He paused and looked around at the various people walking through the square, his face settling into a glare. "Though, I suppose my viewpoint is rare, huh?"

"I… see. Well, I apologize for asking something so strange. You're heading to the cleanup as well, right? …The cleanup!" Yoshizawa pulled out her phone and gasped. "Look at the time! I'm so sorry, I haven't even finished properly thanking you yet! Ah! I forgot my gym clothes at home! I'll see you at the cleanup soon! We can talk more then if you'd like. Pardon me!" She bowed and began walking off, leaving him to raise an eyebrow.

What an odd girl.

'You're one to talk.'

You're BOTH ones to talk.

Heh.

Ω • Ω • Ω

"Yo, what took ya so long?"

"Yo, Ryu. Had something to do on the way here."

"More importantly, did you really come here from home in your gym clothes?"

He raised an eyebrow at Ann. "Uh, yeah. Is that weird?"

She just sighed in response. "Man, it must be great to be a guy…"

"Ain't it normal? And, uh, are you plannin' to doin' cleanup in that outfit?"

"Of course not! I brought my gym clothes with me! I was gonna change in the bathroom, but now there's a huge line."

"Oooh, that makes sense. Man, sounds like it sucks to be a girl."

"It's such a nice day out that even the weather seems to be mocking us." Everyone looked blankly at Mishima as he walked up.

"...Dude, could you try pushin' your way into our conversation less awkwardly next time?"

He chuckled. "Yes, maybe try starting by actually saying 'hello' to everyone first."

"I bet some Kichijoji clean-freak hung paper dolls all over and prayed for clear skies today."

"Uh, were you even listening to what we just said?"

"Hey, morning, everyone." Maruki walked up out of nowhere, waving at the small group.

Mishima looked at the doctor in surprise, "You're here for the cleanup too, Doc?"

"You got it."

"Uh… In those clothes?"

"Oh, no, I'm in a—"

"There you are, Maruki-sensei!" Once again, the group looked at another pair approaching everyone. "We're going to start prepping soon."

Ann tilted her head. "Prepping what?"

"Oh, I'm part of the cooking crew. Hope you're looking forward to a solid meal. See you all later."

As the counselor walked away, Ryuji scoffed. "Man, more like Doctor Popular."

"I'm sure the Phantom Thieves will be even bigger someday."

"Er… Right, Mishima…" He shook his head at the violet-haired boy before a familiar voice rang out in the area.

"Good morning, Shujin academy students and staff." Niijima was speaking into a megaphone, wearing gym clothes as well. Hopefully, that meant she'd also be doing work and not just standing around directing. He didn't need her sneaking up on him. "Please pick up all trash located in the areas assigned to your group. Once the cleanup is completed, a lunch of miso soup with pork and vegetables will be served."

Arsène let out a chuckle. Be careful that she doesn't mix any truth serum into it.

"Ooh, pork miso soup… so that's what Maruki-sensei and his fan club are making!"

"FYI, the school already assigned the groups at random. They're four people apiece, boys and girls mixed."

Ryuji just groaned at Mishima. "Oh… really?"

"Now that those announcements have been made, please break into your groups and head to your assigned areas."

Ryuji clapped his hands together, grinning. "Alright, let's just get this over with as fast as possible so we can chow down on that soup and get outta here!" The group of four high-fived, Mishima joining in awkwardly, before breaking apart. Now came the boring part.

Actually cleaning up the park.

Ω • Ω • Ω

Mid-morning became afternoon, and Akira wasn't sure if it was the monotony or the fact that they had a heist coming up that made time seem to move so slowly. He picked up another piece of trash, ignoring his group mates.

One guy, two girls, all three of them doing their best to interact with him as little as possible. Apparently, one of them hadn't been entirely sure if he was the 'mysterious' transfer student, and tried whispering a question to the girls… tried, because he could still easily hear them.

"Hey, that guy—yeah, him. Is he… THAT transfer student?"

"Yeah…"

"You mean the one in all the crazy rumors?"

"Keep it down! What if he hears us?!"

Too late for that, Kodama giggled.

'Yeah, you said it…'

At least the others were getting along with their groups… sort of. Ann seemed to be easily chatting with the students in hers, Ryuji seemed to be arguing and waving around what looked like a wallet, and Mishima was… probably making friends? Well, at the very least it looked like he was having a conversation with that one brown-haired girl that Ryuji had carried dirt around with.

He looked back down at the ground and chuckled, picking up another piece of trash. Looks like he was the only one in their group currently being ostracized. Kamoshida's fall had cleared away most of the rumors around Ann, and Ryuji similarly had gotten a rise in popularity thanks to what Kamoshida had done to him, though his looks and attitude still made most students avoid him, and of course, the track team wanted nothing to do with him.

As for himself… the rumors involving Kamoshida had stopped, but every other rumor surrounding him was still going in full swing.

Seriously, he didn't bring a grenade launcher to school! Who the hell was even thinking these things up in the first place?!

Thou shouldst do that.

'No.'

But it would be hilarious, would it not?

He just sighed and threw away another piece of trash.

Ω • Ω • Ω

"The cleanup is officially complete. Thank you for your hard work, everyone. Would the leader of each group please come and get the soup for their teams?"

Akira's group leader looked toward him nervously, before turning to the girls in their group. "So, after the soup's doled out, everyone's free to do whatever they want. Including getting the hell outta here."

"Oh, okay."

"Thank you for everything."

The girls thanked their Senpai and all three of them walked off. He adjusted his glasses and looked at his phone to see the time. There was still some time to go, and even after the calling card was sent, who knew when it would hit the internet? Hopefully soon after, but that wasn't certain.

That wasss a wassste of time.

I don't believe your leader will be returning with your food.

He sighed and began walking towards the food stations, aiming to get in line, until someone calling out to him interrupted him. "Oh, there you are! I've been looking for you!" He turned and saw Yoshizawa walking towards him, a bright smile on her face, which dissipated when she saw he was alone. "Where are your group members?"

"They decided they wanted to ditch me," he answered with a shrug. "What about you?"

"Same here. Say, why don't we eat some soup together, since we're both on our own?"

"Well I drink soup, but semantics."

Yoshizawa laughed, linking her hands together. "Great! Come on!" He followed with a smile and took a bowl offered by Maruki when they finally reached the front of the line. After finding a bench they could sit on they began enjoying the food together, Maruki and his little posse were surprisingly good cooks. As they ate, Yoshizawa smiled, looking at him. "I wanted to thank you again for this morning. That man was even more frightening than he might have appeared to you… so I truly appreciate what you did for me! Thank you so much."

"Of course, you're very welcome."

He drank from the bowl, and Yoshizawa looked at him out of the corner of her eyes. "There's one more issue I need to address… I'm also so sorry for what happened the other day!"

He blinked and looked at the sky with a frown. "…my memory must be going, because I don't remember you doing anything that requires an apology."

"It was the run-in we had outside of the guidance office." He thought back and… yes, he did remember Yoshizawa calling him something along the lines of the 'delinquent transfer student,' but he honestly found it a bit funny that she figured she needed to apologize for that. "Kamoshida-sensei had told me about you a moment prior, so I sort of spoke without thinking there… I heard some of my classmates gossiping about you, too."

"I bet you were surprised that the subject of such rumors looked as unassuming as I do," he chuckled.

"Oh, nothing of the sort. I don't like gossip or rumors and the like… and I know this'll sound strange since I just met you, but you don't seem like the kind of person they describe. Although, I wouldn't say you're unassuming… you have some muscle, don't you?"

"You can tell with this thing on me?" He asked, motioning to the baggy gym clothes.

"It's also the way you carry yourself. You move carefully, lightly. It's almost graceful. Have you done gymnastics in the past?"

He raised an eyebrow. He didn't even notice that he was moving, apparently, gracefully. "I've been part of a lot of clubs in the past, but no gymnastics."

"Really?"

"Mmhm. Wrestling, boxing, and a little karate. Soccer and baseball… I sort of bounced around."

"Wow, that's a lot! And now you're part of the 'going home' club?"

"Well, Shujin is trying to make their other clubs popular again after Kamoshita either stole their spotlights or shut them down entirely. I don't think getting the delinquent into them would be something they want."

"I would probably agree, but only if the rumors were true. Let's see… some of the crimes I've heard about were burglary, murder, jaywalking… and elephant tusk trafficking as well, correct?

"I drive without a license, too," he spoke gravely.

Yoshizawa giggled. "A true criminal. Rumors can't be trusted at all, yet everyone starts shaking in their boots whenever they hear your name… hm? You know what, it just hit me! I haven't introduced myself yet!"

"I suppose I haven't properly either… I'm Akira Starr."

"Oh, I'm sorry to make you go first, Starr-senpai. Starr… I've heard that somewhere before." He felt a spike of panic but tried not to show it, and Yoshizawa eventually shook her head and smiled. "Oh well. I believe that you already learned from our meeting at school that—" She was halfway through her sentence when she was distracted by a child that had been walking by accidentally letting go of their balloon.

His eyebrows raised when she near immediately shot out of her seat, using the bench to jump up and grab the balloon before it could fly away, then did a graceful roll as she landed. He'd jumped higher in the Metaverse, but for a human without any cognitive help or a Persona's aid, it was definitely impressive.

"Got it just in time! Here you go!" As she handed the balloon back to the kid, he looked down and saw she had dropped what looked like her Shujin Academy pocketbook. He reached down and grabbed it, turning it over in his hands. 'Kasumi Yoshizawa' was written on the inside. He looked up as she returned, smiling. "Sorry, I didn't mean to run out on you like that."

He grinned as he palmed the pocketbook, sliding it up his sleeve and hiding it from her view for a moment. "It's alright, Kasumi Yoshizawa."

"Oh? You sleuthed me out already?"

"Keep this a secret, but I've got psychic abilities… also, you may have dropped this." He flicked his hand out and the pocketbook appeared in his hand, the very simple sleight of hand getting a laugh out of the girl.

"Well, I suppose we'll add that to the rumors surrounding you. But you've cracked the case! I'm Kasumi Yoshizawa, a first year."

As she took the pocketbook, he leaned back in his seat. "So, that jump was certainly impressive. Ah, was that why you were asking if I've done gymnastics? You're an athlete yourself?"

"Figured that out too, huh? Yes, I compete in gymnastics! It's not that difficult once you get the hang of it, just a hop, skip, and a jump!"

A thought occurs to me… why not have her teach us some techniques?

Flashier moves would not be amiss for Phantom Thieves, Ame-No-Uzume murmured.

'More tricks up our sleeves definitely wouldn't go underutilized…' he thought back. "Say, Yoshizawa-san, you mind showing me some moves?"

"Huh? Does that mean you're interested in gymnastics?! That makes me so happy! I'd be honored if you'd allow me!" Kasumi smiled in excitement, shifting her weight from leg to leg. "Thought before I teach you, I have a favor to ask for myself as well, if you wouldn't mind…"

"Shoot."

"Lately, I haven't been getting the results I want from my performances, and I'm worried that I'm overthinking things… So it would be wonderful if you could give me some advice whenever you have the time."

"I'm not certain how my advice would be helpful considering my… sparse knowledge of gymnastics."

"Oh, that's alright! I'd still love it if you were willing to lend an ear from time to time. A fresh perspective, even from a novice can be helpful! Plus, you do have your knowledge from the other sports you've participated in, right?"

"Well, if that's what you need, I'd be glad to coach you."

"Y-Yessir!" Kasumi straightened up instinctively, before realizing what she'd done and laughing. "Wait, that's a little overboard. But, I promise! I'll glean as much as I can!"

With such abilities at your disposal in the real world, your Metaverse skills will surely increase a hundredfold… He grinned at Arsène's words and the dark chuckle echoing through his mind, all while he nodded at Kasumi's smile.

I am thou, thou art I…
Thou hast acquired a new vow.

It shall become the wings of rebellion
that breaketh thy chains of captivity.

With the birth of the Faith Persona,
I have obtained the winds of blessing that
shall lead to freedom and new power…

Faith Arcana, KaSumi Yoshizawa

Once more, the woman's voice sounded… off. Just as when he had gained the Councillor Arcana… "Oh, why don't we exchange contact information?" Kasumi interrupted his thoughts, pulling out her phone. "Hm? It shut down… Sorry, my smartphone's been acting up lately. Oh! It's back! Okay, I'll contact you when I've got free time if that's fine!"

"Sounds good to me."

"Attention Shujin Academy students: the cleanup event will be ending momentarily. Please do not discard your trash in the bins here. Instead, bring your waste to the predetermined location for disposal. After that, we will be officially releasing everyone for the day. Thank you all for your hard work."

"Well, the cleanup seems to be finished. We're already in our gym clothes… would you care for some basic training before heading home?"

"Hmm…" he checked his watch. Again, there was some time to go before the calling cards would be revealed. Though if something went wrong, Mona would probably release them early. Either way, it was just a matter of time until it appeared online. "Sure. Let's go easy for my first time though. I actually went exercising at the gym with a classmate yesterday and I'm still slightly sore."

"Well, why don't I demonstrate some moves for you, and you do some stretching? Stretching is very important to gymnastics!"

"Sounds like a plan to me." He followed Kasumi as she led him to a grassy lawn, the red-haired girl began stretching and he followed suit. In all honesty, the beginning of the routine was familiar, stretching was something he was used to with his various sport clubs.

She began her routine and he carefully followed along, not wanting to strain himself before an expedition into the Metaverse. Her abilities were certainly impressive, and her flexibility caused him to flinch at the thought of pulling those moves off, even the basic ones.

Eventually, though, Mishima ran up to them. "Starr-san, check it out!" Mishima fumbled with his phone, before showing him the screen. The Phantom Afficiando Wesbite's forum was fired up after the traffic had slowed without any big cases following Kamoshida, several posts appearing one after another about a new 'calling card,' one poster having been there when it was revealed and others asking about it.

"Look, there's a video!" Mishima swiped onto a news website that was showing a live feed of several reporters interviewing Madarame as he attempted to leave the exhibit. The phone was silent until Mishima jabbed the volume buttons.

"Madarame-sensei, is what is written on these 'calling cards' true?!"

"Madarame-sensei, do you have any comments regarding what these 'Phantom Thieves of Hearts' have accused you of?!"

"Madarame-sensei, what are they alluding to by saying you 'shamelessly steal the ideas of your pupils'? Does it have to do with the rumors of abuse that have floated around?!"

"Enough! Enough of this!" Madarame's expression was furious as he barged through the crowd of onlookers, as well as the reporters that had descended upon smelling a story like pirannah's and meat. "The cards are nothing but slander and libel!"

As this occurred, the cameraman focused on one of the reporters that had been shoved aside, the man turning to the camera and practically shouting into his mic to be heard over the noise of all the other questions. "Just minutes ago, as the famous Japanese artist Ichiryusai Madarame's exhibit was coming to a close, a cloud of cards rained down onto Shibuya from the rooftops above, The 'Phantom Thieves of Hearts' who allegedly 'stole the desires' of the high school gym coach and gold medalist Suguru Kamoshida have declared that Madarame-sensei is their next target!"

"Yo—Er, The Phantom Thieves are going after Madarame? Man, this'll definitely get people more interested in them!" He nodded absently, still watching the broadcast.

Madarame got into the back of his car and it quickly drove away, the crowd still shouting as the reporter held up one of the cards, being jostled around. "I have here one of the cards that rained upon Shibuya. 'Sir Ichiryusai Madarame, a great sinner of vanity whose talent has been exhausted. You are an artist who uses his authority to shamelessly steal the ideas of his pupils. We have decided to make you confess all of your crimes with your own mouth. We will take your distorted desires without fail. From, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.'"

"'…From, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.'" Her eyes widened as she overheard the broadcast coming from another third-year's phone. The Phantom Thieves?! But—!

She looked around and spotted all of them. Starr-kun was standing with Mishima-kun looking at his phone, and Yoshizawa-chan standing nearby. Sakamoto-kun was arguing with the group that he had been part of. Takamaki-chan was on her way out of the park…

If it was a live broadcast, and the cards had fallen a few minutes before… was she wrong? Were they not the Phantom Thieves? But they were her only suspects!

How could they have…?! She grit her teeth, wanting nothing more than to grab and start interrogating Starr-san— "Ah, Niijima-chan. Sorry, but could you help us clean up our supplies?" She nodded tersely at Maruki-sensei, and looked back one last time at Starr-kun, before turning around and following the counselor.

She shouldn't be hasty about this. Starr-san always seemed to have a way to throw her interrogations on their head. She needed to think, and plan, what she would say…

Yusuke— I believe that Madarame's heart is ready to be stolen.

You— Gr8, c u museum

He put his phone away and grinned, cracking his neck as he walked to the station. He was pretty tired from the whole trash-collecting shit, but it was that bored kind of tired, he wasn't really exhausted. Once he got into a battle with a Shadow, he'd be ready to kick ass!

His knee ached as he hopped down the stairs and he banged a fist against it, feeling the excitement welling up inside. He didn't know if that was him or Captain Kidd, but he knew damn well that he was ready to bust loose!

"We're comin' for you, ya bastard!" He ignored the people that shot weird looks at him, jumping into a train car just as the doors were closing. Their second target was ready and waiting!

Thump-thump.

Thump-thump.

Panther finished her stretches before grabbing her whip and snapping it out several times. She was ready and raring to go. Skull, Mona, and Fox were similarly making sure they were all prepped, Mona practicing swordplay against Zorro, while Skull and Fox chatted, Skull trying his best to keep Fox centered, as the artist paced back and forth.

Thump-thump.

Thump-thump.

Just like in Kamoshida's disgusting castle, the sky pulsated like a heart. Madarame's nerves, his fear, appeared in the world around them. The line to the museum was, for once, empty, a huge amount of Shadows patrolling the front entrance. The bastard had stolen from, hurt, so many people… even forced one to suicide. For them, for Yusuke, she'd make sure that he got what was coming to him.

The air wavered at the entrance of the parking lot, and Joker walked in, hands in his pockets, silver eyes glinting, and a confident smirk on his face. That smirk grew and became more feral as he heard the thumping of Madarame's heart, and she felt that part of her where Carmen resided shiver in excitement.

Thump-thump.

Thump-thump.

"Well, everyone… are we ready?"

"You bet!"

"Ready and waiting…"

"Of course, Joker!"

"Yeah, now let's get that Treasure!"

He nodded at his teammates' words, pulling his gloves tight as he walked forward, Skull, Mona, Panther, and Fox falling into step behind him. "Since this is the heist, no need to split everyone up… Everyone stick together until we get to the Treasure, then move to your positions to pull off the plan."

Thump-thump.

Thump-thump.

Art thou ready?

'Hell yeah I am. Let's do this.'

Thisss ssshould be fun.

Yeah! We're gonna beat up that Shogun guy!

Let us put on a show worthy of the gods.

Just don't get us in over our heads. He pulled himself up onto the truck, then over the wall, and looked up at the museum, spotlights highlighting all of its glittering gold.

Thump-thump.

Thump-thump.

"Let's overthrow a Shogun!"

Madarame's Treasure time. Just like Kamoshida's, this is going to be a double feature. Other than that, we had the Harajuku trek with the gang, the prep for the card, and the park cleanup. Which, of course, leads to The Faith. Gonna be fun writing more fancy tricks for Joker as Yoshizawa ranks up.

The exact specifics of how the calling card was revealed will be explained eventually, also, the wording of this one wasn't changed because like in canon it was only Ryuji and Yusuke who worked on it. Well, hope everyone's looking forward to what comes next. Let me know what you think of the chapter, or just leave a 'nice,' both are always great to read. See y'all in the next one!
