Shoop, shoop (aha, hey!)
Shoop, shoop
Shoop, shoop (hey!)
Shoop, shoop
I know you're feeling like there's something wrong
But don't you worry, I have just the song for you (mm-hm)
Just for you (you)
So kick those feet up in this comfy chair
And you'll forget about those cares in a minute or two, yeah
That's what you'll do (do)
At Mane Melody, Pipp was running through one of her songs as she performed with Jazz and Rocky on the stage as many customers were moving and grooving to the music. However, one person who wasn't getting into it was Mario, as the boy was being forced to be present due to Pipp. So, he reluctantly leaned against a wall with his arms crossed as he just listened to the song, which he admitted was pretty catchy.
So put your hands up, put your hands up (hey!)
Everything is gonna be okay
Everyone clapped as the song ended. The trio bowed as they stepped off the stage, with the social media girl taking some pics of her after-performance. She made her way toward her crush as Mario looked at her.
"So, tell me what you think. And be honest," said the girl.
"It's catchy."
"And..." said Pipp as she rolled her hand, expecting the boy to say more.
"That's it," said Mario bluntly, as he had nothing to say about Pipp's song. "Now, am I gonna help you with Physics homework?"
The girl sighed and sat down as Mario pulled up a chair and began to tutor Pipp with their assignments. Meanwhile, at school, Sunny was making some smoothies; she handed them out to the students, who immediately began to drink them furiously. The girl looked at the crowd, enjoying her drinks as she sighed.
"Hey, Sunny!" shouted Hitch as he waved at his best friend and approached the food truck.
"Hey, Hitch."
"What's wrong?" asked the boy as he could see the girl was a tad sad.
"Nothing. It's just... it's getting boring?"
"Boring?"
"Everybody ordering the same thing. Every day," said Sunny as she gestured for Hitch to look at the crowd before them. Hitch looked as he saw the students all sipping down their favorite smoothies.
"So?"
"Is it so hard to try new stuff?" asked Sunny.
"People know what they like. Speaking of which, one super citrus," said the boy as he ordered his favorite smoothie flavor.
Sunny sighed as she quickly made the smoothie with a deflated expression; she soon presented the drink to her friend as he began to pull out some money to pay for it.
"It's on the house," said Sunny to her best friend.
"Thanks, Sunny," responded Hitch as he grabbed his smoothie and began to sip it as the boy enjoyed the taste of his favorite flavor.
"I just wish everyone would at least try something new," sighed Sunny as she planted her head on the counter.
"Well, it's not like you can promote new flavors," stated Hitch.
"Hmm. Promote new flavors..." mumbled the girl as she lulled over what her best friend said. Soon, a lightbulb went off in her mind. "That's it!" shouted the girl as she exited the truck. "Hitch, you're a genius!"
"I am?" said the boy as he was hugged by the girl who embraced him tightly.
"Yes, you are. Thanks. I gotta go!" stated Sunny as she said goodbye to her friend.
"Glad I could help," responded the boy in an unsure and confused tone.
Sunny was heading toward her dorm when she pulled out her phone and contacted someone.
"Hey, Pipp! I need your help."
An alleyway was shown as someone was shown running down it. The person in question was Sunny, as the girl was sweating and looking around nervously.
"Sunny! Stop right there!" A male voice called out to her, which made her nervous. Sunny then reached a dead end as she turned and saw two students in fruit costumes: a banana and an orange.
"There's no escape!" The banana costume student said to Sunny as he and the orange costume student glared at her.
"No getting away now!" The orange costume student added while pointing a finger at Sunny.
Then, another student appeared in the middle of the two boys while wearing a strawberry costume. "Not without putting us into your…" He started with a glare before he and the other two fruit costume boys gave them cheerful smiles. "...All new smoothies!" He finished as the three students smiled with sparkles in their eyes as they each held out a smoothie.
Sunny then turned behind her as the background as fruits behind her as she spoke with a smile. "Sorry! Our brand-new smoothies only contain all new fruits grown in the school community garden!" The background showed the school community gardenhouse with so many fruits that the students and gardening club had grown. "Like kiwi-paya, pear-nana, and razzleberries!" She listened while showing each hybrid type of fruit as she smiled with sparkles in her eyes. The scene then changed to the three fruit costumes students as they were each sipping a smoothie.
The scene then changed to Sunny at the food truck while Sunny held up a tray of smoothies while sweating exhaustedly. "Try 'em all today!" She called out with a smile.
"You'd be bananas not to!" The banana-costumed student cheered beside the two other boys while holding his smoothie cup.
"And cut!" Pipp's voice called out as she tapped her phone, revealing that she was quickly livestreaming the whole thing to show the new smoothies to the people. "Perfect! We soooo got it this time!" Pipp said with a smile.
"Finally. After the last few attempts, it was exhausting." Sunny said in relief, having tried to do this many times to get it right as she came to Pipp to see the video themselves. "And the giant fruit?" she asked hopefully.
"All added with the magic of filters!" Pipp cheerfully said as she appended her phone to show the filters of the giant fruit the three students wore, revealing it to be a filter since they didn't have time to get actual costumes.
"Was all this necessary?" said Mario as he stood nearby. The boy felt like this idea was a tad bit extreme.
"Photo filters never fail. Filters can never stop surprising you with new ones that are somehow made," explained Pipp to the boy.
Sunny squeals in joy from that. "Amazing! Thanks, Pipp!" She thanked Pipp as she hugged her while Pipp smiled at Sunny as the girl gasped in excitement. "I can't wait for everyone to try these new flavors! They're gonna love 'em!" She cheered with a smile.
Posey came by at the front of the stand as she held out a pear-nana with an unamused expression and a small smile. "New flavors?" She asked with a curt laugh. "I think not. Tropical treat for me, as per always." She said to Sunny, who appeared inside the truck and smiled sheepishly.
"Are you sure we can't interest you in—?" Sunny started as she lifted the pear-nana again to try and get Posey to change her mind.
"Tropical treat, please, Sunny," Posey repeated sternly, telling Sunny she was uninterested.
And then Thunder appeared beside Posey as he spoke. "And banana smoothie here. Thanks." He said with a small smile.
Sunny sighed as she gave a down expression, "Same old smoothie flavor coming right up. Mario?" She said disappointedly as she went to her blender and blended some smoothies.
The boy went to the food truck; he opened the door and soon appeared by the window. He took the orders from the two and had them pay as Sunny gave them their drinks. Pipp approached the pair from the window as she saw Sunny's sadness and tried to cheer her up.
"Don't worry, they'll come around... eventually," Pipp said, a little uncertain when they will come around. "Sometimes, trying something new is hard." She added.
Sunny thought of what Pipp said as having an idea as she smiled at them. "You're right, Pipp. So, we need to make trying the new flavors easy. This calls for a taste test!" She announced with a determined smile.
Sometime later, the rest of their friends stood in front of the food truck as Sunny stood in front of them with Mario in the background as he leaned against the vehicle with his arms crossed.
"Listen up! It's time to try something new!" Sunny announced first to her friends with a smile as she turned to them. "There are over three million new flavor combos!" She announced cheerfully with sparkles in her eyes as she placed her hands on her cheeks with a cheery smile.
"Blah!" Izzy called out, which caused the others to turn to her in surprise and confusion. "Three million? How do you remember anything after two million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine?" She asked in confusion.
"I'm amazed she can count that high," mumbled Mario under his breath, given how he got annoyed at Izzy's demeanor occasionally.
"It's easy with the help of…" Sunny started, giving Izzy a smirk and pointing to one side of the food truck.
Just then, a robot came wheeling by. He stopped and showed that he had a screen of different fruits, some tubes with a filter, a blue bowtie, a hole at the end of the tube, and a holder for a cup.
"What is that?" asked Roll, speaking for the group.
"This used to be Izzy's old "automatic breakfast butler bot." Now it's been upgraded," stated Sunny.
"Do I even want to know why you built something like this, Izzy?" stated Mario as the girl kept surprising him.
Sunny approached the robot and tapped her finger on the screen as she pressed on the razzleberry icon, which caused McBakertons to beep and play eight-bit music as it dropped a cup, poured some smoothie of the razzleberry content in it, sealed it up, and placed the straw on it.
"Wow!" The others, minus Mario, said in amazement as they all looked on with smiles and sparkles in their eyes.
"Bot-y McBakertons!" Izzy cheered to her chief bot and saw the upgrades Sunny gave him. "Love the bowtie. It's very robot-chic." She said while smiling at her chief bot, liking the new look.
"Yep. I did some setting changes to McBakertons. So now, he can make smoothies by our suggestions, even make a combo of different flavors." Sunny explained to Izzy with a smirk on Bot-y McBakertons' upgrade.
"I AM... BEEP-BOP-BOOP! ...PROGRAMMED TO SERVE... BEEP! ...SMOOTHIES." McBakertons said to the others in his robot voice as Sunny nodded in agreement.
"So, who wants to try it?" said Sunny as she held out the new smoothie she had just made and offered it to her friends, who all looked at each other with unsureness.
"Uh, I guess I'll try," said Roll as she stepped forward.
Sunny smiled and gave the girl her new smoothie to try. Roll looked at it as she was still unsure; the teen looked over at her big brother, who gave an uncaring shrug. She mumbled something under her breath before she brought her lips to the straw. A suck later, Roll removed the drink and smacked her lips as she let her taste buds go to work.
"So?" asked Sunny with a hopeful and curious smile.
"Um... it's good. There's a slightly sour aftertaste, but it's pretty good," stated the girl as Sunny giggled like a little girl as she stomped in place before turning to the others.
"Go ahead, choose your smoothie. Let's find that perfect combo." Sunny said to the others, who were looking on with sparkles in their eyes as the girl picked up a razzleberry fruit.
Izzy then came first as she looked at McBarkertons' screen with a small smile while in thought. "Hmmm, let's see now. So I always get dreamy creamy. But today, I think I'll have... ooh, ummm…" She thought as Sunny came next to Izzy with a smile as the girl swiped on the screen to pick her options. Izzy then thought of her choice. "Ah! Oh, yes! I found it! Dreamy creamy!" She cheered.
Sunny was surprised that Izzy chose her usual choice as Sunny spoke. "Oh, but Izzy, why not try—" Sunny started but was cut off.
"Super citrus for me!" Hitch called out with a smile.
"Hitch!" Sunny called out to her best friend as she sweated a bit while Hitch realized what he just said, sweating a bit as well, seeing that this wasn't Sunny's idea.
"Sorry," whispered the boy to the girl.
"And I'll have my usual – peanut butter and banana—" Zipp started with a smile.
Sunny starts to sweat from this as she calls out. "But there's so many other—" She tried to reason with them but was cut off when Pipp spoke as she stood beside Sunny.
"And put me down for one—" Pipp started but was cut off.
"Let me guess. Strawberry ripple?" Sunny asked with a dull expression and tone, knowing what Pipp wanted.
"Sunny, you know me so well," Pipp said with a smile at Sunny, oblivious to Sunny's tone.
"Sorry, Sunny, but we know what we like," Hitch said to Sunny while apologetically smiling as Zipp nodded in agreement. "It's risky to try anything else." He added.
Zipp zoomed past Sunny as she went to McBakertons with a smile. "PB and B!" Zipp cheered as she tapped on the screen.
"Ripple!" Pipp cheered as she appeared next to her sister with a smile and sparkles in her eyes.
"Dreamy creamy!" Izzy cheered next with sparkles in her eyes.
Then, the others started calling out their suggestions as each of their fingers tapped on McBakertons' screen and tapped on the fruits and vegetable icons, causing Bot-y McBakertons to twitch and his head to spin as he started giving some smoke out of him. Sunny saw this, and she widened her eyes at this as Sunny called out.
"Whoa! Everyone, slow down! Bot-y can't handle so many orders at once!" She called out while sweating nervously.
Bot-y McBakertons then spoke in a distorting voice. "FLAVOR ERROR! FLAVOR ERROR! FLAVOR ERROR!" He called out as his head kept spinning, and sparks and screws were flying out of him as his head started smoking.
The others stop as they realize the mistake they've made to McBakertons. He was having a breakdown while they all sweat and gave nervous expressions as McBakertons brought out one of his tubes and aimed it at them.
"Aah! Look out! Smoothie incoming!" Zipp called out as they all ducked for cover. McBakertons started spinning around and shooting out different smoothie flavors all over the area as the students around them started running for cover.
"SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION! SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION! SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION!" McBakertons called out as the teens watched him go with wide-eyed expressions as McBakertons wheeled out into the school.
"It's loaded with three million fruit combos!" said Sunny as she gasped, "Oh, no, the whole school is gonna be covered in smoothie!"
The kids all began to panic and rushed into the building to stop it. Mario hung back as he sighed and put his hands in his pocket as he headed inside.
In a part of the school, Bot-y McBakertons continued to shoot out smoothie flavors all over the school, and it hit some of the students as well.
"SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION! SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION! SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION!" McBakertons called out as they moved to a hallway and wheeled down as the others followed while dodging some smoothies that came their way.
Hitch followed next, but he slid across the floor on a smoothie path on the ground, which caused Hitch to slide away from the group, leaving the girls behind. The girls saw the mess the robot had caused as one student was covered in smoothie while Dahlia was trying to clean herself. McBakertons came rushing while chasing two girls as they tried to escape the robot.
"Sunny, how many smoothie flavors did you put into the thing?" asked Roll.
"It's loaded with three million fruit combos!" Sunny called out nervously as the rest of the group looked on in worry before Sunny gasped in realization. "Oh, no, the whole town is gonna be covered in smoothie!" She called out in panic.
"I thought you were just exasperating on the three million fruit combo thing! Did you have to put that many in McBakertons just to demonstrate?!" Roll called out in shock from this.
"I thought it was a good idea at the time to figure out new combos! I just wanted to let people try something new and give it a chance!" Sunny cried out in panic while the others looked at her in sympathy, thinking they should've tried new things like Sunny suggested to experience new flavors instead of their usual ones.
"We got a bigger problem," said Roll.
The group looked as the girl pointed at the robot and how it was slowly approaching Principal Celestia. The woman was reading a book as she was heading to her office and didn't notice the robot approaching her.
"Oh, no!" Zipp called out, knowing what would happen if their Principal saw this.
"We're going to get detention for sure," stated Pipp.
"Forget detention! We're all be expelled!" expressed Zipp.
Zipp then gave a determined expression as she zoomed toward McBakertons and sped up; while Celestia was distracted, McBakertons shot out a smoothie, but before it could hit her or the book she was reading, Zipp came in between as she caught it in her mouth and ate it. McBakertons kept shooting smoothies as it spun out of control. Celestia put a hand to her office door as Sunny came in and caught each smoothie in her mouth. Celestia opened the door and entered her office, unaware of what happened behind her; Hitch and Izzy did the same as their friends as they caught two more to avoid the smoothie splatting on the window.
Pipp caught a smoothie in her mouth as she landed and tasted the flavor. "Mmmm! Hey! Straw-nana?" She guessed from the taste as she gasped with sparkles in her eyes with a smile. "Not bad!" She said with a smile.
McBakertons then kept spinning and moving as it kept shooting smoothies while students around were screaming and running out of the way.
"Quick! It's the only way to stop the town getting 'smoothie'd!" Hitch called out in determination as they rushed after McBakertons.
Some students were looking at their phones until McBakertons approached them, and they widened their eyes in surprise. "SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION! SMOOTHIE—!" He called out as he spun and shot a ton of smoothies out; the teens huddled together with their eyes closed as they were about to get hit by smoothies.
But then Pipp appeared before them as she caught each one in her mouth.
She placed her white sheets on a hanger line at Posey's dorm and smiled at them. "—IE MALFUNCTION!" She then heard McBakertons voice as she turned and saw him spinning and shooting smoothies his way as Posey screamed and tried to cover her white sheets as a smoothie was about to hit.
But then Sunny came in and caught each smoothie in her mouth. Posey watched in surprise as the girl caught each one before McBakertons moved along as Sunny smiled at Posey. The girl smiled in relief that she and her sheets were stain-free and thanked Sunny for the save.
Outside the front school entrance, Rufus was about to show off his magic trick to the crowd of students, but then McBakertons came right behind them.
"SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION!" McBakertons called out as the crowds screamed and moved out of the way as Izzy appeared from Rufus' magic hat, which surprised him from there as Izzy caught smoothies in her mouth, and then Roll jumped up in front of them and caught smoothies in her mouth as well on both sides.
"You're welcome!" Izzy said to Rufus with a wink.
The school hamsters were cornered in a classroom as McBakertons shot his smoothies. The critters all huddled in fear as McBakertons was coming close, and a smoothie was about to hit them, but then Hitch got in front of them and caught one in his mouth.
"SMOOTHIE MALFUNCTION!" McBakertons called out as he kept shooting smoothies and started spinning, but Hitch acted quickly as he caught each smoothie in his mouth as he caught them fast, and then McBakertons stopped spinning as he winded down and tilted on the ground as it finally shut down.
Mario was shown behind the robot as the boy held a small hammer. After the others all left to go on a wild goose chase, he went to find something to hit the machine with; he managed to strike it from behind with a deadly blow, and a dent was shown in the back. The teen bent down, opened the back of its control, and ripped out the wires.
The girls made it to the boys as they saw the whole thing and were amazed by Hitch's moves.
"Whoa! Hitch! That was seriously heroic!" Sunny said in amazement at what Hitch did as the others smiled at him, pretty amazed at what he did. The girl looked at her best friend as she was thoroughly impressed by his actions, resulting in her cheeks turning slightly red.
"You got some fast reflexes there, sheriff," said Zipp.
"Yeah, 'cause he saved the critters while I dismantled the thing. But you know, animals are more important," said Mario as they seemed to ignore him, knocking the thing down and short-circuiting the robot.
"Well, I think you did good," said Pipp as she leaned over the boy's shoulder. Mario rolled his eyes as he flicked Pipp's hand away.
Hitch just looked at his friends as he got his mouth filled with tons of smoothies he caught. His face was a little messy, with his cheeks puffed up before he gulped them down in one go before giving them a tired smile. "Just... doing my share of duty." He groaned at the number of smoothies he caught and swallowed as the hamsters climbed him and stood on his shoulders as they nuzzled against his cheeks, thanking him for saving them as Hitch smiled at them.
"Sorry, not sorry about your stupid robot, Izzy," said Mario as he threw the hammer away.
"Ah, don't worry, it was our fault for overloading him. Besides, I could fix Bot-y right up. He should be good as new in no time." Izzy assured with her usual cheery smile; since she was Bot-y's creator, she knew how to fix him up.
Hitch wiped some smoothie off his cheek as he licked his finger. The boy tasted the smoothie as he liked it; sparkles appeared in his eyes as he smiled.
"All the smoothies have run into each other! This might be the most delicious one yet!" He announced with a smile, finding the smoothie combination he tasted amazing.
"Really?" Roll asked in surprise as she picked some up and licked it, and she had sparkles in her eyes. "Wow! These are amazing!" She cheered.
Sunny picked some up and licked it, tasting the flavor as she smiled at the taste. "It's a smoothie... made out of smoothies! Oh, the perfect combo!" She cheered with a smile and sparkles in her eyes before she smirked at Hitch. "What can we call it?" She asked with a smirk.
Hitch smiled at Sunny as he answered. "I guess it comprises all the best bits of everything. Why not call it the "Sunny Special"?" He suggested with a smile.
Sunny then smiled with sparkles in her eyes at Hitch's name idea, finding it perfect. The girl's cheeks seemed to get a bit redder at how cute it was that her best friend had named her latest creation after her.
"Those two seem perfect for each other," whispered Mario to his little sister as he noticed Sunny and Hitch's reactions.
"You're not alone, big bro," said Roll as she thought the same thing.
Sometime later, students lined up at the smoothie stand as Sunny and Mario passed smoothies; the students chattered as they waited in line while others who already had their smoothies were slurping on them as Sunny waved her hand at them with a smile.
Pipp then appeared next to Sunny and Mario as she spoke. "Whoa, Sunny! The Sunny Special is, like, totally a hit!" She cheered as she raised her hand with a smile.
"People just can't stop buying them, that's for sure," Mario commented as he passed a smoothie to another customer.
"Yeah, only the problem is... now nobody wants to try anything else!" Sunny pointed out with a small smile, seeing that the students couldn't stop slurping on their smoothies and not trying anything else since the Sunny Special was the best thing not to stop buying.
"Well, don't worry, they will get tired eventually," Mario said calmly, which earned a small laugh from the two girls from this outcome, finding it pretty funny.
The day was nearly over as Sunny walked toward Hitch's dorm room as the girl knocked on his door. It opened as the boy stepped out; the pair wanted to hang out tonight as they discussed many things to do before curfew. Eventually, the girl decided on an activity for them to do as they began to head out. They both strolled downtown and enjoyed the moderately cool weather as the evening sky transitioned to twilight.
A short distance later, Sunny claimed they had arrived at their destination. They stood in front of darkness, living between two buildings. One faint cone of light illuminated a door near the rear of the alleyway. He raised an eyebrow in utter confusion, "Are you sure?"
"What's wrong?" Sunny asked, "Are you nervous?"
"W—well, uh. . . it's not exactly the kind of place I had in mind."
"Trust me! You're gonna love this." Sunny grabbed him and led him into the shadows of the alley, where they were invisible to passersby on the street. "I've done this a lot, but we've never done it together! Plus, this is your first time! Even better, for your first experience, you get to have special backdoor access."
Hitch felt his heartbeat accelerate. He blushed and gulped nervously, his eyelids fluttering. "I—I don't know, Sunny. . . This is kind of sudden. I didn't know you were into—"
Sunny led him to the door illuminated faintly at the end of the alley while beaming excitedly, interrupting his sentence. "—Into history-themed escape rooms?"
"Yea! — wait, what?" Hitch reacted bewilderedly.
Sunny opened the inconspicuous door behind her to reveal an elaborate escape room ahead. "Special backdoor access so we can bypass the usually upfront lines! This totally isn't what you were expecting, was it?"
Standing like a statue, blushing a little, and in a cold sweat, Hitch replied, "N—no. Not at all. . ."
Sunny giggled. "Okay! No time like the present. Let's start!"
They spent several hours together solving various "historically accurate" puzzles based on inherently flawed historical knowledge and, therefore, were historically inaccurate. Already familiarized with all the puzzles, Sunny allowed Hitch to tackle most solo. She observed from a distance, curious about his general history knowledge. She kindly assisted him when he asked for help. Overall, Sunny was ecstatic to have a companion to share her knowledge with and experience the joy of the escape room challenge. Meanwhile, Hitch's expectations for the evening hadn't yet been met. He found himself not matching Sunny's enthusiasm.
Click.
"Yay! We did it!" Sunny pumped her hand into the air in celebration. "That was a great time, too! Just two hours."
Hitch nodded solemnly. "Yeah, you're right."
"Oh, um. . ." Sunny frowned and glanced downwards, bowing her head briefly. "Is something wrong?"
"No, not at all! This was a lot of fun. I just, uh. . . had a different idea for how things should have gone earlier tonight."
"Huh?" Sunny tilted her head to the side, prompting her friend to repeat what he had said to ensure she had correctly interpreted his words.
"You know what, all of these fun puzzles got me feeling hungry. You wanna go get something to eat?"
"That's a great idea!" Sunny perked up. She walked toward the exit door and held it open eagerly, waiting for Hitch to catch up.
Outside again, Hitch scanned the area for restaurants and found a modest restaurant primarily serving pasta.
"Oh, that place looks nice. They're open tables. I bet we could get service immediately. Are you interested in pasta?"
After a few seconds of waiting, there was still no response.
"Huh? Sunny?" Hitch glanced over his shoulder to discover that Sunny had disappeared. "Where did you go?" After a few glances, he noticed her ahead, beyond the restaurant he had brought attention to. He rolled his eyes with an audible sigh and cantered to catch up.
Hitch caught up to her, "Hey, I foun—"
"Hey! I got us some hotdogs. I thought I'd get some food for us since you were hungry."
"I— But— There's a—" He paused, surrendering, trying to be the attempt to lead the night, and just went along with Sunny's plans. "Sure, I'll have a hotdog. Thanks," he added with a diminished voice of submission.
They carried their hotdogs with them as they took a brief detour to Sunny's dorm for some smoothies before finally heading toward their final destination — a location of Hitch's choosing. Finally, a suggested addition to their evening of fun together could be proposed by him alone. Atop Hitch's dorm, the boy had laid a blanket from his room so they could sit together and watch the sun set over the distant horizon. Unfortunately, the sun had already dipped beneath the horizon due to the unforeseen events that had occurred earlier in the evening.
"How was this?" Hitch asked to see if the evening was remotely acceptable.
"It was great. We haven't hung out like this for a while. Not since we were little kids." stated Sunny.
"I planned for the sun to start setting just when we arrived here, but. . . I guess that didn't work out."
"Of course, the sun wouldn't be up after starting an escape room at seven!"
"Yeah." Hitch wanted to share his thoughts on how he would have planned their evening differently, but why spoil it?
The night breeze was calm. It softly swept past them, gently swaying their hair and causing the grass to emulate the waves of the sea. The trees surrounding them sang with their leaves. Even with the sunlight long gone, the moonlight aided in these outstanding visuals. One visual, however, eclipsed them all: Sunny. This was the moment where Hitch's dream evening with Sunny could end in the same conclusion, even if all other factors had diverged from the original vision. Hitch gazed at Sunny while she admired the spectacle before them, the moonlight striking her shining mane. Hitch leaned in and reached with a hand, attempting to go for a hand-hold.
Sunny leaned to the side to stretch and yawn, unaware of Hitch's attempted advances. "It's been a long and pleasant evening. I could use some sleep!"
Hitch retreated, struggling to conceal the disappointment he felt. "Yeah! Yeah, it's late, for sure. I guess we should get going, but — uh — would you like to go out again sometime next week?"
"I'd love to! We could even invite a few of the others too! Watch movies, go out as a group, or even take it easy and play board games." Sunny's eyes glimmered with inspiration.
"You seem to be aware of everybody's needs."
"Certainly!" She said with pride and confidence. "Thank you for tonight. It was a nice reminder that even if things change, we can still have fun together." She emitted a radiant smile from cheek to cheek.
They waved each other goodbye one more time. Hitch watched Sunny descend the stairs as she left for her dorm. When she was long gone, he released a sigh of disappointment. Failure. Logic couldn't suppress his sensation of defeat. He fell backward onto his back and closed his eyes to mull over what had transpired that evening. The quiet of the evening helped soothe his stressed and flustered self. Even without seeing his surroundings, the cool air and ambient sounds of nature could ease anybody into tranquil relaxation.
Author's Note: A little spin on the episode is from TYT. Plus, we see the ever, slowly, growing relationship between Hitch and Sunny. It seems that years of being best friends and childhood friends might lead to something. Perhaps something more to bloom between the pair. At least... for one of them it seems.
