Chapter 6
Guest- I appreciate the compliment. Thank you.
Eh, I'm used to fics never getting tons of reviews. Most are just lucky they even get one per chapter. Kind of disheartening, but the views say another matter. Along with favs and follows.
Morgana
The four-winged woman that was Morgana was making her breakfast when she felt a portal being created in her home. Realizing the familiarity of the portal, Morgana turned around to see the same type of portal that Mordekaiser used to come barging into her home to take Moxxie back. Wondering why a new portal was created so early, Morgana readied herself for a fight when she saw, to her shock, Moxxie and several armed guards. They bared a resemblance to Mordekaiser, but were shorter, though still towering over most humans, and held varying armor and helmet designs. They wielded an assortment of weapons, from maces to great swords that can cleave a lesser man in two. They stood in attention as Moxxie looked at Morgana and his eyes glowed brightly upon seeing her.
Without saying a word, Moxxie ran up to Morgana and hugged her, jumping up to do so. Hugging her torso, the Imp buried his head below her ample bosom, surprising the woman. Her surprise soon dissipated, however, and the woman returned the hug with a smile.
"I'm surprised to see you so soon, Moxxie." Said Morgana, legitimately surprised to see the Imp so soon. She had thought it would be weeks, even years before they would meet again. Yet, she was proven wrong and she was happy about it. "Has your father enabled you to do this?"
"Yeah." Said Moxxie with a smile. "He felt really sorry for what happened to me yesterday, so he wants me to hang out with you as a way of saying sorry along with actually saying sorry to me." Upon hearing that, Morgana was surprised to hear that Mordekaiser actually felt sorry and was willing to admit it. She had thought that he would be too prideful to admit such things, yet Moxxie claimed that he did. Perhaps Moxxie was right. This Mordekaiser wasn't as bad as the stories made him out to be. Or perhaps this child had changed him for the better.
Whatever the reason is, Morgana was happy to have Moxxie around her. The little creature was a bright spot in her relative mundane and, dare she admit it, boring life.
"Then I suppose I was wrong about your father, after all." Said Morgana as she let go of Moxxie. "Perhaps he is the father that you think he is."
"He really is." Said Moxxie as he smiled at Morgana, happy that she was willing to admit that she was wrong about his father. "He's really caring once you get to know him." Morgana just smiled at the Imp, happy with his optimism, before changing the subject.
"So, how long do you desire to be around me today?" Asked Morgana as she looked at Moxxie before looking at his escort of warriors, who just stared back. "I must admit I don't have much to do to pass the time. I venture to acquire food and water from nearby villages, but that is all I do. I barely have any activities that children can find fun." Instead of frowning in disappointment at that, Moxxie just smiled at her.
"That's alright by me." Said Moxxie as he looked at Morgana with a smile on his face. "I just want to spend time with you because you're the first friend that I made that didn't come from Mitna Rachnun." Blinking in shock at Moxxie seeing her as a friend, Morgana nonetheless softened her gauze on the Imp and hugged him again. Feeling his tail wrapping around one of her legs, Morgana felt something that she had never felt in a long time. Not since…what happened between her family so long ago. A feeling that she missed so much yet found no reason to experience again. Happiness.
"Then let's find something to entertain the both of us, friend." Said Morgana as she let go of the Imp. "I believe there are quite a few areas that we can venture to without fear of any Demacian stumbling onto us and hurting you like the ones from before." Moxxie winced at the remembrance of the beating he got before smiling at Morgana and saying that would be nice. Pleased, Morgana grabbed Moxxie's hand, a few pieces of fruit for a snack, and began walking out of her home with him in tow. Followed by Moxxie's escort, who walked respectfully behind Moxxie and Morgana, their eyes permanently on the two.
Meanwhile
Mordekaiser
In the meantime, Mordekaiser was observing Morgana and Moxxie interacting with each other, finding great love and amusement in each other's company. More so than Moxxie seemed to do so with him. While a part of him felt annoyed with how Moxxie seemed to like being around Morgana more than he does with him, he more felt intrigued and curious about this.
While Moxxie loved him, what happened yesterday proved that he seemed to be happier when he was around Morgana. He was more open and friendlier with her than he was with him. It was…curious to him. It made what Morgana said to him when they first met hold some truth.
Thinking back to what Morgana said to him when they last met, Mordekaiser saw that there was indeed more to ruling now than it had been back when he was alive.
When he was still amongst the living, Mordekaiser didn't need to care about the feelings of those under his command or their contentment with his rule. They simply obeyed him and nothing more. Even during his second life on Runeterra as a revenant, he didn't need to care about the content of the living. Though they ultimately rebelled against him, they had obeyed his rule, for the most part, only succeeding with the help of a traitor amongst his inner circle, the traitorous Leblanc, who now leads a secretive group within Noxus called the Black Rose. Though he used her plans against her and ultimately gained much from it, Mordekaiser will still have her killed for her traitorous actions. No one betrays him. No one.
Ridding his mind of that traitor, Mordekaiser resumed his watching of Moxxie and Morgana, enjoying each other's company, even smiling at one another. For what, Mordekaiser had no idea. What he cared about, however, was what was the difference between what Moxxie felt about Morgana over Mordekaiser that would make him smile and be more…seemingly happier around her than the Iron Revenant. And how it can affect his ability to rule in the future.
Morgana claimed that a ruler that rules with only an iron fist will only end up facing rebellion for his iron-fisted ways, no matter how good his intentions were. Keira said something similar regarding Moxxie long ago. That he cannot treat him like the subjects of Mitna Rachnun and that he must treat him differently and more carefully than the people of his kingdom. Or else he'll lose him forever. Though he had adjusted his treatment of Moxxie since that talk with Keira, he could see that he needed to further improve based on what Morgana had said to him along with her disapproval of what he did with Moxxie. Improvement must be seen and witnessed for Mordekaiser to learn as he has no one else to use an example. And what better way to improve than witnessing Moxxie interact with this Morgana? Not only did it enable him to keep an eye on his son as well as see what Morgana meant by her words to him from when they last met, but also enable him to keep an eye on Morgana. To learn any secrets that she possesses and how to make her an ally to him, even convert her to his cause. For she was clearly powerful and Mordekaiser was always keen on acquiring power for himself.
Relaxing, Mordekaiser resume his watch of his son and the woman that dared to question his way of ruling, eager to both learn and keep an eye on them so as to not have a repeat of what happened yesterday. One that, admittedly, happened because of his own actions.
