Fieldtrip of Away from the Dead

Cruz, Kohta, and Ranko are seen stacking up some heavy boxes they can find and putting a few desks together as a blockade to keep the zombies out, hopefully for a long while.

"I think this should do for now." Cruz believed.

"Yeah." Kohta nodded.

"Then I believe we deserve a break from all that running and beating up zombies." Ranko stretched her arms up causing her breasts to bounce once.

Kohta blushed smiling enjoying the view as Cruz blushed as well though looks away and remind himself that he already has a girlfriend a few times.

"Took the words right out of my mouth." Saeko said having the same suggestion.

Saya is washing up her face from the blood with the water from the sink while Yui is standing by to watch over her a little.

"You feeling okay from… what happened earlier?" Yui asked.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Just need to get my head straight, that's all." Saya said.

"Hey, I have a water bottle for you." Kohta said holding a plastic bottle of water up, then he became shock of seeing Saya wearing glasses.

"You… you wear glasses?" Kohta said and Saya threw a towel over his face.

"Shut up! My contact lenses keep on moving around." Saya said a little embarrass, walking away.

"She wears glasses." Kohta smiled.

"Try not to be a pervert when we're surviving for our very lives." Yui flicked Kohta's forehead.

"Good thing my mom always kept telling me to pack my own water bottle." Yukana pulled out a water bottle from her bag.

"So, have you made anything else besides the knife-shoes you were wearing back on the roof?" Rei asked curiously.

"No, those were the only things I could make at the time, but I am thinking of other things I could make together into weapons with some help." Yukana looked at Cruz with a wink.

"Uh, sure, I'll be glad to help." Cruz blushed a bit. Nene notices this and punts wrapping her arms around his between her large breasts.

"He'll help, just as long as he doesn't get distracted by something to upset his girlfriend." Nene said with a little angry tone making Cruz chuckle nervous.

"H-Hey, Dr. Marikawa, did you find your car key?" Cruz asked, changing the subject.

"Oh, it's in my purse somewhere." Shizuka searched through her purse.

"Are you sure your car is big enough for all of us?" Saeko asked.

"Well, now that I think about it… no." Shizuka realized.

"I have a license, but I don't have a car of my own. There's still the microbus we can use." Yui pointed out.

"She's right, the keys to them are on the wall." Saeko agreed.

"And we're in luck, the bus is right outside." Ranko informed after she and Kohta look through the window.

"That's fine, but where are we going?" Shizuka asked.

"The first thing we should do is going to our homes making sure if our families are okay, starting with the ones closest from here and bring them along with us to better our chances of survival. We should also pick up some supplies such as food and weapons to defend ourselves against the zombies and possibly some people who've gone insane." Cruz planned on what the group will do.

"Then we'll need to find a safe place to" Cruz paused his plan explanation as his eyes widen of shock.

"What's wrong?" Saya asked, she look to where Cruz is staring at with Nene and Rei in front of the high TV with the same expression as Cruz.

"No way…" Nene scared.

"This can't be." Rei hoped that this is a lie.

Everyone starts looking at the TV while Saeko grabs the remote to turn up the volume of the newspaper broadcast.

"The government has begun to consider the emergency measures against the outbreaks that have been occurring in the locations around the city." The newswoman reported.

"Outbreaks. As in there's more than one like here?" Cruz asked shock and Saeko flip to another news channel.

"It's been feared that more than 10,000 have been victimized in Saitama area so far. The governor has already" A gunshot was heard in the background. "Already declared the state of emergency and request the emergency disaster relief…" The camera moved to medical beds close to the ambulance as two body bags are raising up. "It's a gunshot. It looks like the police are finally using firearms! From what I can see, they're… No, noooo!" The newswoman screamed in fear as the camera is drop to the ground showing only the legs of the zombies before the feed is cut off.

Cruz, Nene, and everyone in the room are silent of shock and horror of what is happening from what they saw in the news broadcast.

"The fuck… why are we only hearing about this now?" Ranko asked.

"They're afraid of causing a panic." Saeko figured.

"Really?" Nene asked.

"Yes, really, you idiot. First panic, then chaos, and chaos causes a disruption of order. And then, when order is disrupted"

"Then we got the end of the world right in front of us." Cruz finished Saya's sentence.

"Yup, almost like the world has handed itself to the walking corpses." Saya nodded.

They continue watching the news seeing the zombie outbreaks is not just happening in Japan, but also in other parts of the world like London, America, and seeing what is happing to them besides zombies walking around.

"Oh fuck, they're everywhere. Everything was normal when I checked the internet this morning." Kohta mentioned shock.

"I can't believe this… this happened all over the world in a matter of a few hours." Rei freaked out as she holds onto Cruz's arm.

"But they'll stop it, right?" Rei asked.

"R-Right, I'm sure they'll keep the dead from spreading." Nene hoped.

"Unfortunately, that is highly unlikely." Yui sighed.

"What do you mean?" Yukana asked.

"This is a pandemic situation. An outbreak of infectious disease that the whole planet is experience the same thing, and there is nothing we can do about it." Yui explained.

"The way you put it like that, it must be hard to keep it contain." Cruz said understanding this.

"This is exactly like the Spanish flu in 1918. More than 600 million people got infected and 50 million died from it. Remember how much a panic Swine flu caused? Well, square that." Saya mentioned.

"Oh great, just what we need a history lesson." Ranko annoyed.

"Ranko, calm down." Yukana said to her best friend.

"Not to be disagreeable, but I think this is more like the Black Death from the 14th century." Shizuka pointed out.

"One third of the European population died. You're smarter than you look." Saya commented.

"I don't think I heard of that history. How did it end?" Nene asked, confuse.

"Well, there are many theories: it usually stops when too many humans die. There wouldn't be enough people to spread the disease." Shizuka explained.

"But now… all the dead people still move and start attacking you to spread the disease further." Kohta said looking out the window seeing more zombies.

"Are you saying that there's no reason for this outbreak to stop?" Saeko asked worry.

"There's killing them in the head, but that would a waste of time." Yukana pointed out and Shizuka got an idea.

"The weather's going to be hot, they might not be able to move if their flesh decomposes and they become skeletons." Shizuka informed.

"How long does it take for that to happen?" Saeko asked.

"In summers, some parts of the body could become skeletal in about twenty days, but it takes considerably longer during winter. A couple months, that's not too terribly long." Shizuka said.

"Then you're a fool for thinking such an idiotic idea." Yui mocked.

"Hey now, don't go mocking our nurse here." Yukana defend Shizuka.

"No, she's right. Medical won't work for us anymore." Cruz stated.

"Of course, Yui is right. Those dead corpses move around and attack humans, the worst thing is that they might never decompose from the heat." Saya pointed out.

"That means we'll have to put them down ourselves." Nene realized.

"First thing, we find out is if our families are okay like Cruz said then we need to find some place safe to hold up for a while. But no matter where we go, we're going to need a plan." Saeko stated.

"Well, the obvious thing we're going to do is team up." Yukana said.

And everyone read themselves with their weapons and whatever they have with them right now.

"Let try to pick up survivors on the way." Saeko suggested.

"And no matter what, we stick together." Cruz added.

"What's the best way out of here?" Rei asked.

"Sorry to break it to you, stupid, but we're gonna just have to out the front." Saya informed.

"Then we better get there, fast." Cruz determined.

They exit the room and start taking down some zombies on the way as they carefully make their way through the hallway toward the front door.

"Just to make things clear: there's no need for you to engage in a fight unless it's necessary. Do whatever you can to avoid a fight, got it?" Saeko advised.

"Remember, they're sensitive to only sounds so keep it quiet and they're strong enough to rip through regular doors." Saya warned.

"And once they've got a hold on you, they're gonna tear you to shreds." Yui added.

"The zombies are also bad at getting themselves up once you push them down. Just to let you all know." Ranko informed.

Then they heard screaming from below as five students are trying to get pass some zombies though couldn't think of a way to get away from them, Kohta shot one down followed by Saeko and Ranko jumps down and hit them with their weapons hard, Rei stabs one two times on the chest and kick it away. Cruz manage to hit two zombies right on the head that forces them down on the ground.

"Thank you." A female student thanked.

"Keep it down. Has anyone been bitten yet?" Saeko asked.

"No, no one has." The female student answered.

"That's good to hear." Nene sighed in relief.

"Miss Hayashi, you're okay?" Yukana noticed the red hair teacher with them.

"Yes, I manage to get away from the zombies before the principal made the emergency announcement. I'm glad more students are safe." Kyoko smiled.

"Did you meet any other teachers?" Shizuka asked.

"No, so far I only met the students like these ones and you all." Kyoko answered sadly.

"Please follow us, we're going to get out of this school." Cruz said as he looks up at the sunset sky.

"(Aruka, I hope you're okay.)" Cruz thought, thinking of his big sister.

Cruz's group along with the survivors made their way downstairs close to the front door and discovers that the path is crawling with at least a dozen guards.

"Remember, they can only react to sound. They can't see us, so it's pointless to hide from them." Saya said.

"But even if we keep going through inside the school, once we get attacked, we're going to be stuck." Saeko worried.

"It's not like we can turn back now." Nene said.

"She's right, we have to go through the gate, we don't have any choice." Rei nodded.

"Well, someone needs to see if Saya's theory is correct about not being able to see us." Yui said.

"…I'll go." Cruz volunteered shocking Rei and Nene.

"Cruz, no! You don't have to go.' Nene feared of losing her boyfriend this time.

"Yeah, stay with the others. I'll go." Rei offered herself to go in.

"I think I should go on ahead." Saeko offered to go instead.

"No, you girls stay here and make sure everyone is safe. I promise I'll be fine; just wait I give you guys the signal." Cruz walked down the stairs.

"Oh Cruz, so brave and strong. Aruka would be so proud of you if she was here right now." Nene sobbed quietly.

"Aruka?" Saeko asked.

"She's Cruz's big sister, I think she is the same year as you." Nene answered.

"I feel like a teacher like me should be doing this." Kyoko ashamed of herself for letting Cruz be the test subject.

"It his decision, there is nothing we can do about it but wait for the result." Saeko said.

Cruz is standing right in the middle of the hallway where the front door is and zombies are walking around aimlessly to find their next victims to devour, he kept his mouth close and being silent as much as he can hoping that Saya's theory will work. One zombie is walking toward him and became absolutely still as the zombie gets closer and closer by every second, then the zombie came very close to Cruz and then it walks right pass him.

"(Just like Saya said, they can't see me. Good, that means I can use this.)" Cruz reached into his pocket and pulls out an IPhone he found somewhere in the school.

He threw the phone at a random locker which causes a big bang noise that attracted the zombies toward the direction of the sound, he gesture his hands at the others telling them it's okay to come over here. Everyone slowly and quietly made their way down the staircase and carefully not letting their weapons touch the handle of the staircase to make a noise, everything seems to be going great as Cruz slowly opens the front door to the outside when suddenly.

"My Little Pony, My Little Pony Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahhh" The IPhone Cruz threw went off with a loud cartoon ringtone that also got the attention of the zombies outside.

With things getting worse, Cruz did the only thing he could think of.

"RUN!"

Everyone started running for their life heading outside toward the bus.

"You idiot! Why did you not check if the damn phone was even off!" Saya yelled at Cruz.

"I thought the batteries in it was dead, how was I supposed to know someone would call?" Cruz argued as he knocks down two zombies.

One came at Saya from behind, but Yui saved her by stabbing the head with a knife and kicks it away.

"Forget about talking right now, let just run!" Kohta pointed out as he shots down one zombie.

Everyone came while fighting their way through the horde of zombies around, one male student got himself caught and getting bitten and his girlfriend couldn't leave him and decided to die with him despite Saya's warning.

"I understand, if the world were to end then I would die with the person I love." Shizuka said.

"They say people do crazy things for love." Kyoko sighed.

"You two bleeding hearts shut up." Saya yelled and yelp when one zombie was shot down right in front of her by Kohta.

"Don't worry, Takagi." Kohta said wanting to protect her.

"You rude little otaku! How dare you interrupt me while I'm talking. Who would you do that?!" Saya asked angry.

"Hey, he just saved us so at least thank him." Yui scolded.

"I don't know why but I just really like both of your voices." Kohta smiled at them actually making Saya and Yui blush.

"Shizuka, I'll drive." Kyoko volunteered to be the getaway driver.

"Okay." Shizuka tossed the keys to Kyoko as she quickly gets inside and start the engine.

Everyone got inside and Cruz was about to close the door until he saw some more students running along with a teacher.

"Isn't that Mr. Shido of Class 3-A?" Cruz asked.

"Yes, I think he is." Saeko said.

"Shido." Rei glared fiercely.

"Rei?" Nene wondered why Rei is so angry right now.

"Wait, Miss Hayashi, there are still more people coming." Cruz alerted.

"Get them to hurry up, more are coming on the front." Kyoko yelled.

"No, we don't have to save him." Rei grabbed Cruz's arm.

"Uh, what do you mean?" Cruz asked.

"We don't have to save Shido, just leave him to die!" Rei said angry.

"Rei, don't know why you hate Mr. Shido so much, but I can't leave a person to die like this." Cruz said with a fierce look.

Rei didn't argue and sat down. Cruz shouted to Shido and some of the students to hurry into the bus, they made it inside.

"Thank you, young man. You truly are a kind soul." Shido thanked and walk inside, with an evil smile.

"Time to go!" Kyoko stepped on the petal and drive the bus toward the gate while running over some of the zombies.

The bus busts through the gate launch in the air a little and slams back on the ground as Kyoko drives the bus away from the school, never to come back there ever again.
