Fencing into the Death Pathway
The scene shows a hooded figure walking through an empty street that seems aimless though appears to have strong will within the blue eyes, then three zombies came out from a corner groaning and lifeless as always.
"Worthless undead." The hooded said with a young woman voice.
The hooded young woman pulls out a pair of metal gloves and pressed a button on each hand that causes the metal parts to be glowing a little of orange with some heat.
"Every time I see you, I just want to kill you all!" The hooded young woman angered as she bends down then charges toward at the three zombies.
The hooded young woman jumps toward the first zombie in front of the two throwing a strong punch to the head and causes the zombie's head to burn and threw another punch at the same spot to melt through the skull and burning the brain too.
The hooded young woman quickly turns around to attack the second zombie by slamming her two burning punches on the head together crushing and burning the head, then lastly, she threw a backhand punch at the last zombie sending her stumbling to a wall.
But the hooded young woman wasn't finish as she comes in throwing a punch at the head killing the zombie.
"A few down, but there are still millions of them more." The hooded young woman said as she walks away.
"I really wish to know what could've happen." The hooded girl said.
"And I'd really like to know if you're okay, Cruz." The young woman said looking up at the sky.
(With the Emerald Group)
"Mio, are you sure it's a good idea?" Saeko asked while Mio is tying on the front of the car and herself.
"Of course, I've done running up the hills with cars before. I told you about that during breakfasts." Mio answered with a confident nod.
"She did mention that." Yui nodded.
"You can do it, Mio!" Alice cheered and Zero barks for the cheering.
"Thanks!" Mio said and got to stretch her body to make sure she doesn't pull herself too hard.
"So Kohta, you somehow know Alice's dad because of her family name?" Cruz asked as he and the sniper are having a conversation.
"Don't you know anything? Arisu Maresato, he used to be that newspaper reporter who would get some good scoops." Kohta explained.
"And her mom?" Cruz asked.
"Mio said that the mother died from the zombies, they've been running since, and she just happened to meet when her family gave up their life to keep her alive." Kohta mentioned.
Everything has really become hard for those two girls and now they only have each other to survive, but now they have this group to be with and hopefully he can do whatever he can to keep them safe.
Cruz's mind was interrupted when he looks down seeing Zero bark and looking a little serious.
"I see you're still rearing to go, Zero." Cruz chuckled as he picks up the dog.
"But don't bark too much, got it? Kohta reminded the dog about the zombies.
"By the way, I've been meaning to ask you about the "Zero" name since Yui brought it up." Cruz said.
"Oh yeah, I named by Zero because it comes from the Reisen plane." Kohta revealed.
"That's the plane that was used during the Pacific War and Japan lost; it was also called the Zero Fighter." Cruz remembered studying about that in history class.
"I guess that means Zero is a small and fast fighter with a big heart." Cruz smiled at Zero who barks at him.
"Here, take this, Cruz. It's a shotgun, so all you have to do is aim around their heads. You'll hit 'em." Kohta handed the shotgun to Cruz.
"Thanks, something tells me I'm gonna need to update my arsenal." Cruz said.
"So, Professor Gunman, how do I use this?" Cruz asked. Kohta smirks feeling glad that Cruz asks that question.
"They're cartridges. The shells are basically a casing filled with little pellets, you only have to adjust the sight, find your target, then pull the trigger. You can blast their heads off with this." Kohta explained about the shotgun.
"And how do I reload a new set of bullets inside?" Cruz asked.
"When you have no more bullets, open this gate, so you load more like this. It's really easy, you can only load four bullets and have one in the cartridge chamber, so keep that in mind. There's another really cool feature with this gun, one of my favorites!" Kohta answered.
"But what about the recoil? It must be strong for a gun like this." Cruz asked about how strong the gun is after firing.
"Oh, it's pretty powerful, each shooting will mess up your head and make you miss your target. So, if you try shooting the head then aim at the chest area first then fire and the heads are clean off." Kohta explained.
"Alright, I'll be sure to handle it with care." Cruz nodded as he looks at the gun in his hands.
"I'm a little worried that your strength might not withstand the recoil, but I won't stop you." Kohta nodded.
"Hey Hirano, would you mind teaching me how to shoot this gun? I wouldn't want to fight the zombies up close all the time." Rei asked.
"Of course, perhaps you've noticed the standard issue bayonet?" Kohta smiled perverted.
"Hey guys, I'm ready to go! Could you go up and make sure we're all in the clear?" Mio asked.
"Sure, we can do that." Cruz nodded.
"You can count on us!" Kohta excited.
"Why do I get the feeling that Hirano is trying too hard?" Kyoko asked herself.
"Hey, I'm gonna come up too. Three pairs of eyes are better than two." Ranko offered to come with.
"What's that?" Cruz asked, noticing a gun-like object in Ranko's hands.
"This is a little something Yukana put together with the bolt gun we found in the house, loaded with some new fire bullets." Ranko answered.
"Fire bullets?" Kohta confused.
"It just a basic combination of the bolts, a little painted oil on top of the head, and tied up a match with one of those hard surfaces a match box would always have at the end of the barrel inside to light up the fire." Yukana explain.
"Wow, you made something crazy again! You're really amazing!" Cruz complimented.
"Oh, and you're so cute with your face and everything!" Yukana smiled and kissed him right on the lips.
"(Damn it, Cruz somehow gets all the luck even though I am really proud of him!)" Kohta thought groaned, biting his bottom lips.
"Hey, let's go up already!" Ranko yelled as she is halfway to the top.
Cruz and Kohta hurried up to meet Ranko and all three stand guard with their guns pointed in three directions, they waited for a moment in case anything happens but there is only silence.
"Hey, how is everything up there?" Eve shouted, the shout spooked them a bit.
"You idiot! Are you trying to make us into an all-you-can-eat for those zombies?" Saya angered rubbing her fists onto Eve's head.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to know!" Eve apologized crying.
"Now get off me!" Eve shoulder throw Saya down on the ground.
"Okay Mio, you can go!" Yui said, giving Mio a thumbs up.
"Alright, now here I go!" Mio ran forward and pulled the Hum-Vee up the hill with her, and the weight isn't difficult to her.
"Man, just want exactly the kind of workout did that girl go through!" Rei shocked.
"I don't know, but I don't think any of us would survive if we try." Yukana believed with a gulp.
Mio made her way up the hill then pull the military car onto the street as Shizuka is clapping her hands cheerfully, the rest of the group came up and they look around to notice that the entire street is empty.
"Man, this is, like so weird. Am I right or is it just me?" Yukana asked, this whole quiet thing is creeping her out.
"I feel it too, it's like a ghost town." Nene commented.
"I guess the river didn't stop them, huh?" Saya looked through her binoculars, seeing the apartment balconies empty and a few broken cars.
"I don't know why any of us thought it would be any different on the other side." Saeko stated.
"Do you think the zombies learn how to swim?" Eve asked shock.
"I seriously doubt it's that." Yui deadpanned.
"I do remember there were a lot of people last night, and the police were there too." Yui mentioned.
"Well, if they're still on the job then maybe they managed to get most of the people away." Rei hoped that is the case.
"Yeah, you're right. And maybe curbside recycling is still happening too." Saya said sarcastically.
"Easy Saya, things may look grim now, but that doesn't mean we should give up on hope now." Cruz stated strongly.
"(Damn it, this kid just won't give up, will he?)" Saya thought cursed, and her cheeks blushing,
"You live around here, right, Saya. It's on the… second block of the Higashisaka distract." Nene hoped she got that address right.
"That's right, the really big house that almost made you faint on sight." Saya nodded.
"Hey! It was one time when we visited your house once!" Nene exclaimed.
"Oh, a big house? It is like a castle, Sayoyo?" Eve asked, getting Saya's name wrong.
"Call me that again and I'll kill you, and my house isn't that big to be a castle, but it's certainly big." Saya bragged a bit.
"Okay, so Saya's house is the closest one in the area. And if we don't find anyone… Not that I'm saying your parents might be…" Cruz paused, he didn't want to say anything that could hurt Saya.
"I know, I'm not expecting anything, but still…" Saya smiled. She wouldn't admit it out loud, but she really misses her parents and want to see if they're still alive.
"Then don't give up on them, have faith and give them a smile they can be proud of." Cruz advised, holding Saya's hand for comfort.
Saya smiles back, she really couldn't believe that out of all the people she would end up following to this end of the world it would be Cruz Schild, and she may start to feel something more for him.
"I hope Aruka is doing alright, not that I need to worry since this is your big sister we're talking about." Nene said.
"Yeah, she's probably taking out all of her frustrations on every zombie she sees." Cruz nodded.
"(Aruka, I hope you're okay out there.)" Cruz thought clutched his fist.
Everyone enter the Hum-Vee and Shizuka drives through the street seeing that everyone around them is mostly, if not completely empty, Cruz and four of his girlfriends are sitting on top of the car to be on the lookout for the behind.
But everyone appears to be peaceful right now, no zombies in sight and not even a single sight of a living person either. Almost like the entire area have been cleared out of both sides.
"Wow! Look at all the motorcycles!" Alice amazed, seeing the motorcycles at the one store they drove past.
"I wonder if we can get one of those for ourselves?" Mio asked.
"They sell important buggies and stuff like that. Sometimes military equipment too." Kohta explained.
"Really?" Alice surprised to hear all that.
"Do the military add guns onto the motorcycles they use?" Mio asked.
"I don't think so, but it would pass me if Yukana did something like that." Kohta commented.
"Yeah, to be honest, I never once thought Yukana would be a craftswoman like at all until the whole zombie thing happened at school." Ranko mentioned.
"Maybe there are things that you don't know about your precious Yukana." Saya mocked a little.
"Watch it or else I'll fire a flaming bolt in your bitch brain!" Ranko angered.
"Now, now, you two better behave or else I'll have Shizuka turn this car around really hard." Kyoko warned with a firm look.
"But she started it!?" Ranko and Saya shouted angry together.
Meanwhile, Cruz is looking up at the sky seeing there is not even a flying vehicle in the air as well which has him concern a little.
"Are you alright, baby?" Yukana asked.
"Just remembering there used to be lots of helicopters and a few planes in the sky, but now there is nothing." Cruz pointed out.
"Oh yeah, I do remember seeing those when I was doing errands for my guardian." Eve remembered that just now.
"Do you think that means they shutdown all flight because they're worried about accidentally bringing zombies with them?" Nene guessed.
"Could be, or it could be something else like the countries are cutting off from each other." Cruz said.
"But hey, things are gonna be okay, right? Right now, we haven't seen a single zombie at all, and this might be the first time we get to relax and not have to worry about anything, just enjoy the moment with each other." Rei believed as she leans onto Cruz.
"You might be right, even if this moment is short, I'll gladly enjoy it with Cruz." Nene smiled.
"Me too, girlfriend! Everything feels so much better with Cruz around!" Yukana hugged him from behind.
"Whatever happens, I know we'll be able to get through this together!" Eve smiled.
Cruz smiles upon hearing such positive words from his girlfriends' words as he decided to enjoy the moment with them, feeling all this peace reminds him of how things were back before the zombies suddenly appeared.
Cruz doesn't know how long these zombies are gonna be around nor how long it's gonna take for him to cure this world from the undead, but he's not gonna stop until he does find a cure and even if he doesn't then he'll just have to pass on the torch to other people who can carry on the good fight and free this world.
But the peaceful like this one has ended soon.
"It's them! Distance, 300 meters!" Kohta alerted.
Everyone looks to see several zombies on the hill slope of the street as they look dead and dangerous as the others.
"Saya, which way do we go?" Kyoko asked.
"Go to the right!" Saya answered.
"Okay." Shizuka nodded and turn the car on the right, only to see some more zombies there too. "They're here too! Oh no!" She gasped.
"Then turn left there. Turn left!" Saya pointed the next turn, and the nurse turns to the left.
"Now this is weird, it's like the further we go down this part of the city, the more of the zombies we encounter." Nene confused.
"But why? We haven't seen any of them for miles!" Rei puzzled.
Then they see even more zombies and lots of them on the street.
"Just keep going, don't stop!" Saya said as Shizuka runs over the zombies.
Cruz and his girls lay down on the top to not get knocked over by the zombies, but the five lovers saw something they were not expecting to see now of all things.
"Shizuka! Stop the car! Stop the car right now!" Cruz shouted while banging his fist on the roof.
"You heard the guy, stop the fucking car!" Ranko pressed the breaks past Shizuka forcing the car to stop after several feet.
The force of the stop got most of the girls, but in that instant moment, Cruz was able to grab all of their arms keeping them from falling off the car though they did get hurt a little when fall onto the front of the car.
"Jesus Christ, it's a good thing you stop because we could've run right into that wired wall!" Saeko pointed forward in front of them.
True to Saeko's words, there is a wired wall that is blocking the entire street with the other side looking all clean of zombies with the zombies being over here with the Emerald Group.
"That explains why we haven't seen any zombies until now. Someone or people must've put up that wired fence to keep the zombies from going any further in the street." Cruz figured out.
"And now we're caught in the trap too." Nene feared while reaching for an arrow.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
Cruz and the Emerald Group were making their way to the other side of the river and on their way to Saya's home with how quiet the street is, until they suddenly ran into a whole crowd of zombies and a wired wall trapping them in. Now they'll have to fight out alive!
