Chapter 23

Glitter

Bella

Thursday and Friday were not much better than the days before. On Thursday, Jess had also asked me about the rumor. It was clear to me, of course, that she could not stand to keep her mouth shut for long.

"Bella, I wanted to ask you ... Well, I heard from Lauren that ... um ... that you and Emmett, you ... well ... you know," she stammered around.

I was totally annoyed!

"My God, this is none of your business, or Mike's, or anyone else's at school!" I said annoyed and concentrated on the lessons.

We just took through 'Macbeth,' one of my favorite Shakespeare plays.

I was having lunch with Angela when Sarah and Leo, two girls from my Spanish class, joined us at the table.

"Hi, Bella, we heard that ...," Leo began.

I just couldn't hear it anymore.

"I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU HEARD FROM WHOEVER! IT'S MY BUSINESS AND HAS NO ONE'S INTEREST!" I yelled at Sarah and Leo.

Unfortunately, half the cafeteria heard my tantrum and stared at me.

I ran out of the cafeteria in a huff because it was incredibly embarrassing and tried to avoid as many people as possible for the rest of the day.

On Friday, fortunately, the others had returned from hunting.

On Friday morning, Emmett's Jeep was parked out front when I came out of the house.

I ran to Emmett and got in the car.

"Hi, my little one," he greeted me cheerfully.

But I was not in the mood.

"Youu ... youu ...," I brought out as I pounded on his head with my fists.

He writhed in pain and asked me to stop.

It couldn't possibly hurt him, but I had to vent my anger somehow. Of course, he probably didn't even feel that I was using all my strength.

"Ouch ...! Bella, what have I done?", he asked confused.

"You had to ask your stupid question about how good you are in bed so loudly that the others around us heard it. And now the whole school knows, and everyone keeps asking me about it!", I grumbled at him.

He laughed out loud.

I didn't know what he found so funny about it.

"Oh, that? I was beginning to think I'd done something bad," he said, still laughing. "They're all just jealous because you're doing the hottest guy in Forks," he boasted.

I rolled my eyes and blushed a little because of his direct manner.

Saturday was beautiful weather, but I had to study, so Emmett stayed home. I said he could then come to me in the late afternoon.

I sat down at my desk after breakfast and started my homework.

The first thing I did was math, then I could check that off first thing. It was a whole double page spread of assignments on vector calculus. I couldn't stand those vectors, but I struggled through somehow. Whether it was solved correctly would then be shown in the math lesson.

I briefly considered calling Angela to compare my results with her. But then I remembered that she always did math problems at the last minute. Since she understood everything anyway, it usually didn't take her half as long as it did me.

After that I had to write a five-page essay about 'Macbeth' for English. When I finally finished the essay, it was already three o'clock in the afternoon.

Since Emmett would be here in two hours, I decided to go outside and lie in the sun for a while.

I took my favorite book 'Wuthering Heights' and a picnic blanket outside. I lay down and started reading.

The sun on my body was so beautifully warm. That was the worst thing here in Forks ... this perpetual bad weather. Of course, once I was a vampire, I wouldn't be able to lie around in the sun like this in public.

The sun made me tired, and I slowly fell asleep.

Dream

I was in a deep forest. I felt that someone was watching me, but I could not see anyone.

"Hello?"

My voice echoed in the forest, but no one answered me. I ran on the bright path in front of me. All around me were only tall trees. When I looked up, the trees were so tall - they reached up in the sky.

I kept running and suddenly tripped over something soft and fell to the ground.

It was an almost naked woman - she was bleeding from the neck.

I flinched.

The woman suddenly turned into Rosalie in a white wedding dress. She hissed at me and wanted to jump towards me. But three huge wolves jumped over my head and attacked her. But it was not Rosalie anymore. The vampire looked like me, only a thousand times more beautiful. The wolves mauled my vampire-self, and I cried out.

The bloody scene had suddenly disappeared.

I stood up and kept running. I heard rustling behind me. I panicked and thought the wolves were now chasing me. I looked behind, but the wolves were nowhere to be seen. Before I could look ahead again, I ran into a rock and fell over. I looked around, but I didn't see a rock, but I knew where I was.

It was the clearing of Edward and me.

Above me were dense black clouds. The clouds formed a black vortex, and I heard thunder and saw lightning strike the trees around me. I continued to look around and realized that I had not run into a rock, but into Edward, who growled at me. Then he turned into James. James bared his teeth and got ready to jump. I saw the clouds dissipate above me and the sunlight flooded the clearing and the vampire in front of me began to glisten.

Dream end

I woke up startled.

The sun above me was warm and suddenly I saw small points of light everywhere on the lawn and also on me. I looked up and was blinded by a glittering figure.
