Howdy folks! Dropping a new episode for A Nightmare Come True! Hope you like it!

-Damn it! It won't hold out for long! Starlight! You must hide while I distract them! We'll meet in the center of town!

-No! We mustn't get separated! Give me a second; I'm preparing a teleportation spell!

-You can't do that, you kook! Using magic will leave you like her!

-Dammit! Let's run away together then!

-With your bum ankle you won't even make it around the corner before these bastards get you! I'll distract them! Trust me!

-Get back, Applejack!

-Starlight?- Asked the earthling on her left side, to which the unicorn came out of her reverie and turned her gaze in that direction- Are you okay?

-Yes... Yes, I was just thinking about what happened a little while ago...

-Oh...

An awkward silence formed between the two as they slowly walked down the darkened corridor.

-I'm… sorry that your, um… experiment had gone wrong.

-Oh… I wasn't really thinking about that.

-What were you thinking then?- Starlight sighed.

-… About Scootaloo and Twist's brother- Apple Bloom frowned, her expression revealing that a similar line of thought had gone through her mind.

-... Even though I understand her pain, she's still a jerk- The cowgirl said unsubtly, to which the unicorn wrinkled her face slightly.

-I can't blame her for being like that with me- The redhead hissed with her tongue as she heard that defeatist argument.

-She can think whatever the hell she wants, but that doesn't give her the damn right to be a moron- Apple Bloom commented angrily, to which Starlight gave a serene smile.

-She was clearly under the stress of having lost several teammates, I can well understand that- The unicorn indicated sincerely, to which the earthling raised her left eyebrow, wanting to say something for a few moments before retracting. She remained silent for a few seconds before sighing.

-Okay, this time it's passable- The redhead frowned- What about the other dozen times she has thrown a tantrum?

The blue-eyed girl chuckled softly.

-Right, right- Both of them shared a new giggle. Apple Bloom's expression turned warmer.

-Hey.

-Hmm?

-Thanks for walking me through this. I usually ask Spike for help, but he's busy with... Sweetie Belle- The change in tone of voice on the last two words brought a smirk out of the unicorn. The orange-eyed terrestrial glanced sideways at her companion, watching as she poked her eye with a mischievous grin. The cowgirl blushed slightly and snorted with disdain- Bite me, Starlight.

-I didn't say anything.

-You don't even need to say anything to annoy my ass- The redhead stopped her walking- It's here.

The two stopped in front of a white wooden door, different from the rest of the hallway. The cowgirl and the unicorn shared a glance before entering the place. The first thing Starlight saw was a bed with some medical devices around it. Resting on that mattress was a frail-looking old terrestrial, her white hair looking as if it would wither with the passing of a light breeze. Wrinkles abounded on her tanned skin.

-Grandma- Apple Bloom mused plaintively, slowly approaching the bed. Starlight remained in place, closing the door softly- Grandma, it's me- From her position, the unicorn sensed how the elderly earthling moved a little- I'm here.

-Oh... My dear Apple Bloom... How nice to see you again- Granny Smith exclaimed in a very low, flimsy tone of voice. Before either of them could prevent it, the old woman began to cough, alarming them considerably.

-Hey, hey, hold your horses; I'm here grandma- Pronounced the redhead, concerned, placing her hand on the chest of the elderly earthling, who took a deep breath, trying to appease the ailment that afflicted her- I'm here…

-Damned Grim Reaper. She thinks she can weaken me by making frail as a bean- Granny Smith muttered disdainfully. She gave a warm smile as she turned her dull orange eyes to her granddaughter- How's the farm, ma golden apple?- She inquired with intrigue. The cowgirl shivered for a few seconds before mimicking the old woman's gesture. The unicorn on the door porch raised her right eyebrow, confused.

-"Farm?"- She questioned to herself.

-Better than ever, ma'am- Assured the redhead confidently, glaring at Starlight Glimmer.

-What about those slackers you have for brothers- The old woman asked, causing the cowgirl's stomach to churn and the unicorn to feel a squeeze in her heart- I have yet to see those ingrates visiting their grandma.

-They... They're working... on the farm- The redhead muttered, her words heavy, dragged from her throat. Granny Smith frowned.

-Apple Bloom, you're not covering for them, are you?

-No, ma'am.

-Very well... Still I would like to have those lazybones to visit me more often...

-I'll tell them to do so.

-Good girl- The old woman turned her gaze towards the door, noticing the unicorn in the shadows. But she couldn't quite make out who it was- Apple Bloom.

-Ma'am?

-Did you bring a friend?

The unicorn and the young terrestrial tensed slightly. The redhead turned around and they both shared a glance.

-This...

-Yes! I didn't want to interrupt your conversation- Starlight approached the bed in that room- It's nice to see you again, Ms. Smith- The unicorn stood next to the terrestrial, who turned her gaze back to her relative. The latter frowned.

-I can't remember who you are, sweetheart- Confessed the old woman with seriousness and affability. The unicorn chuckled nervously, nodding.

-I am Starlight Glimmer, Mrs Smith. I'm...

-She's a friend of the family, Grandma- Said the cowgirl, a small, knowing smile gracing her lips. The unicorn was slightly taken aback at the bestowed title, her slightly flushed cheeks being proof of it. But she soon regained her composure and imitated the redhead's gesture.

-Exactly.

-Ah, of course. You must be one of the lassies Applejack always hangs out with- Inferred the older Earthling, sighing listlessly and sadly- My beautiful Applejack, so indomitable and strong... stubborn as a mule too- That short description of the blonde made both the unicorn and the young Earthling feel a bizarre combination of desolation and nostalgia- I wish she'd visit me more often...

-She's... busy, Grandma- Apple Bloom mentioned enervated. The old woman frowned.

-She's a cheat. She comes in at night when I'm asleep and kisses me on the forehead- That revelation stunned the other two women in the room, who shared a glance.

Granny Smith turned her gaze to Starlight and looked her over from head to toe, noticing the handle of the knife resting in the sheath of the unicorn's belt.

-Dear, that knife looks familiar...

The only thing Starlight Glimmer could feel at that moment was a tremendous shiver run through her entire body, as her limbs tensed completely.

-This...

Apple Bloom averted her countenance towards her with a raised eyebrow, a dubious expression.

-Yes... It just...

-May this old sack of bones see it more closely?- Starlight felt her stomach turn.

-No- Muttered instantly, surprising herself and Apple Bloom, who was next to her. However, she hurried to correct herself- O-Of course- The unicorn took the knife out of her belt and handed it over to Granny Smith, who frowned.

-It reminds me of the one my son had for hunting...Applejack as a child cut her big brother Big Macintosh on the arm with that knife...

-Really? Who could have though that Applejack was so careless haha...

-Applejack had that knife when she went on that expedition- The old woman turned her gaze to the redhead, looking specifically at her hat- What are you doing with Applejack's hat, Apple Bloom?

-I-

-Where is Applejack?- The old woman asked seriously and worriedly. The redhead swallowed dryly, as she cautiously approached the piece of furniture next to the bed. The unicorn gave her room to move.

-At the farm, Grandma.

-Tell her to come.

-She's busy, ma'am.

-Very well, I'll go to see her- The terrestrial exclaimed with determination, making the effort to get out of bed. But the unicorn was quick, gently resting her hands in the shoulders of the older person and stopping her.

-We will look out for her; Mrs. Smith- Starlight assured with an uneasy smile- You rest here- The old woman clicked her tongue.

-The day these bones can't move when I want them to will be the day I'm dead- The elderly earthling began to struggle with the unicorn, who also used more force in her grip.

-Please stay there, Mrs. Smith- The unicorn demanded with a demanding intonation, but the old woman snorted with disdain.

-Don't tell me what to do and what not to do, you spoiled unicorn!- In an oversight, Granny Smith cut Starlight left arm with the knife she was holding, making her groan in pain.

-Hold her, Starlight!- Apple Bloom commanded, preparing an needle with a clear liquid. The unicorn did as requested, taking a hold of the knife with one hand and using her injured arm on the chest of the old woman, who was struggling like a wild beast to free herself from her prison.

-Let me go you infernal scoundrel! You sack of dung! You thief! You filthy thief! HELP ME APPLE BLOOM!

-Calm down, Grandma! She's a friend!- Exclaimed the redhead, sweating and breathing anxiously, but under control, pinning her grandmother down and placing the needle on her neck.

-No, I recognize her! She tried to enslave my Applejack! She's an enemy, Apple Bloom! She's a thief! APPLE BLOOM! FIND APPLEJACK! FIND HER! FIND HER! Find her! She's...she's...

-She's asleep?

-Yes, it's a sedative- Remarked the younger terrestrial, putting the needle away. The unicorn, meanwhile, placed the knife back in its sheath- There are times when she has these episodes of lucidity... I'm sorry you had to see that.

-No problem, it was my fault anyway, I rushed to stop her before she got up- She said with a wry smile. The orange-eyed terrestrial, however, had a stern face, her eyes fixed on the knife that rested on her companion's belt. This disturbed Starlight- Umm… Earth calling Apple Bloom?- The alluded one snapped out of it, now looking directly into the dismayed blue eyes of her companion.

-Hmm? Oh, sorry, I was thinking about... Never mind- With her hand she made a gesture, downplaying the importance of the matter. Starlight was no less relieved by that sort of explanation, maintaining a worried expression.

-Are you sure?

-Yes... I'm going to clean her bed now; you should go and clean that wound- The redhead remarked with a neutral tone, fixing her attention again on her relative. The unicorn swallowed dryly.

-I didn't know she had these... memory lapses- Said the purple-haired one cautiously, recognizing that the situation between the two of them was tense. To her little surprise, the cowgirl frowned and her muscles tensed.

-...

-Does anyone else know?

-... Only Spike...

-... I see... Let me help you, then- The earthling wore a skeptical countenance, unsure if that offer was sincere. But the unicorn winked and smiled confidently- I already have experience with this kind of work anyway- Apple Bloom nodded, remembering who was Starlight referring to. They both started the process of cleaning up Granny Smith and her bed. But their minds were the most stormy and chaotic at that moment, with dozens of thoughts crossing their minds every second.
