Chapter one:

Kaoru and Daiki have been married for two years now and things have been going by very well between them. Their families shared contract has even been profiting to both families.

"Hey Kaoru." Daiki speaks while they are chilling on the couch with the TV on as background.

Kaoru looks up from his phone at hearing this. "Yes love?" He inquires and Daiki smiles to his husband.

"What do you think about adoption?" Daiki asks and Kaoru feels his heart skip a beat at the proposal.

"You want to have kids?" Kaoru puts his phone down and Daiki nods his head.

"I don't see why not. We could even get two for our legacy and all such." Daiki confirms and hands Kaoru a sheet of paper which has some information on an orphanage. "I've been planning a trip to here. I recently heard that it is such a good place that they have even had too many kids at times. Thought that we could check it out."

"Yes!" Kaoru can't help a grin as he looks to his husband who smiles chuckling warmly.

"I thought that would be your response. We leave for it in a week. Our legacy will continue in whatever child we choose."

Kaoru looks to the decent looking orphanage with his heart hammering in excitement.

…..

Kaoru and Daiki stand together as they face the almost cathedral looking building that is the orphanage.

"Ready?" Daiki inquires and he leads the other into the building where a nice lady greets them. "Hi. We were looking to adopt." He explains and the lady beams.

"We are so happy to hear that! Follow me." The lady who looks like a school teacher with brown hair leads them deeper inside.

In one room with beds and other bedroom stuff is kids playing with toys who pause to turn to the two new comers.

There is also other staff members present in the room likely supervising to ensure that nothing happens to the children.

"We have these children. And on the other end of the room you can find any babies we have." The lady points further into the room to where there is a child gate and two other staff members. "Why don't you interact with the children? We find it is more beneficial if potential adopters get to interact with the children rather than go through a ton of questioning. If you find any you connect with then we will get into all the background checks and stuff."

"Sounds good." Daiki nods and Kaoru is the first to move forward looking at the children with a group of them come closer. He watches as Kaoru crouches to be more at the childrens' level.

There is various ages with some who look to be maybe two and others who look to be maybe eight.

One kid offers Kaoru his toy train and another tries to make cute faces as if thinking that it might help.

Kaoru finds that he doesn't feel like any of these ones are the ones. He heads towards the younger children while Daiki takes his place. He pauses swearing that he hears some whispers. He glances to one of the beds which looks empty. He crouches down peeking under it only to spot two children hiding there.

The two look at him with wide eyes. One looks like he is maybe four and the other is maybe just barely two.

"Hello there." Kaoru smiles a little only for the older boy to nudge the younger girl further under the bed. He lets his smile fall a bit. "It is okay. You don't need to be afraid." He tries to soothe them. "I won't hurt you."

"You'll separate us!" The boy tells him before sticking his tongue out spitting like one would to tease another as a child.

Kaoru blinks and glances to the other children realizing that especially the older ones are individually trying to out compete each other for Daiki's attention. He turns back to the two under the bed. "You know. We are actually thinking about adopting two." He sees a moment of hope in the boy before it diminishes as if he doesn't fully trust him. He turns to Daiki catching his eye gesturing him over.

Daiki approaches and checks under the bed seeing the two children. He gives a friendly smile. "Well hello there. And who might you be?"

The older boy still seems hesitant.

"You know." Kaoru lets his eyes flicker to Daiki. "They kind of remind me of how me and Hikaru used to be just in different circumstances. How me and him used to think it was us against the world and we acted that way. Not wanting anyone to get between us."

Daiki looks to Kaoru at this meeting his eyes then a warmth fills his gaze. "Well if they really do remind you so much of you and your brother then so far they're the closest ones I have in consideration. After all you two turned out great in the end. I think I could see the potential in these two as well." He turns to the two with still the same look of warmth. "It's alright. Are you siblings? How about getting to know each other?" He offers to them with a smile as Kaoru also turns back to the two. "We're looking for two to adopt."

The boy looks shocked at all of this happening. "You won't separate us?"

Daiki blinks in surprise before his warmth quickly returns. "Of course not! What a silly thought!" He snorts lightly in amusement. "We came here wanting two so there is no reason to separate you two if we do pick you. What is your names?"

The boy hesitates a few moments before speaking up in a quiet unsure tone as if he can't fully trust this. "My name is Kayson and this is my little sister Rowan." He nods to the girl who slightly leans forward as if curious about the two men.

"Well it is nice to meet you both. I am Daiki and this is Kaoru." Daiki nods to his husband. "Why don't you come out and we can talk?" He offers and the two move back waiting for them to come out.

As the two crawl out Kaoru can't help noticing the shocked looks on the staffs faces as the two siblings sit letting the two men get a better look at them.

Kayson has black hair that is cut into a mix of bowl and pixie like hair cut making it like a long pixie cut, he has slightly more tan skin than most Asians do though still looks pretty Japanese, his eyes are dark brown with them looking black in the right lighting, and he is wearing a simple blue loose t-shirt and black sweats with black socks on his feet.

Rowan has a light brown hair almost looking like if it was even lighter it could pass for dark blonde, her hair reaches her jawline with her bangs parted evenly on each side with her hair looking straight compared to Kayson's slightly wavy locks, she has pretty dark blue eyes and a green summer dress on with pink socks on her feet.

Kaoru feels a pull towards the two as if something is telling him to take the two in. He isn't sure if it is the behavior similarities between these two and him and his twin, or if it is something else. He glances to Daiki who has eyes shining as if he can see their future with these two. He smiles and looks to the two children. "I think you both will be the right fit." He confirms getting shocked looks from the siblings.

A staff member comes over and at first seems to have no words before collecting herself. "Well. Let's get your paperwork and background checks done. Do you want them in the room with us?"

"I don't see why not." Daiki confirms so the two children are brought with the two men to a room.

Kaoru finds that Rowan stays by his leg with her little pale hands on his right knee as if curious about him. He smiles at her even though Kayson is still wary.

They get everything sorted and are quickly cleared to adopt the two. They lead the two to their limo with a staff following and Kaoru chuckles warmly as all three pause in shock at the limo.

The staff member has to accompany the children for the drop off to their new home to make sure that everything is good.

"Don't worry. It's really comfy." Kaoru assures them and even helps the children into the limo who look around in wonder at the space.

Once they get home the two children can't believe that they will be living here.

The lady that came with them clears her throat at seeing the servants ready to greet the children as if they are their new young masters. "Well. It looks good. There will be an unannounced visit to make sure everything is going good. Then everything should be fine."

"Thank you so much." Kaoru gives a small bow then leads the kids around in a tour as Daiki arranges a ride for the lady to get back to the orphanage. "Would you two like to share a room or sleep in your own?"

"Together." Kayson tells Kaoru who nods his head and leads them to a spare room.

Inside is a huge bed with luxury sheets, a carved fancy black wooden dresser and a walk in closet.

"Hm. We may need to get a bed that will better suit you two. Though we will make this room all yours." Kaoru smiles down at the two children who are frozen in wonder at how much space they get including a window to view the wonderful back garden. He hopes that they will enjoy themselves here.

Rowan runs around the room while Kayson turns to Kaoru a little worried.

"You won't just leave us alone and let us go hungry like mommy did will you?" Kayson sounds so small and helpless that Kaoru's heart almost breaks at hearing what had happened to them.

"Of course not!" Kaoru crouches down to be more on Kayson's level. "This is your home. And we will love you as if you were our own children. You will never be hungry again. No matter what happens." He promises and Kayson gives a hesitant hug which Kaoru returns making the child relax more.

"Our legacy will be great with these two!"

Kaoru knows that Daiki tends to be worried about the future. He just hopes that this won't hurt the children in anyway. He knows Daiki means no harm to them though he will make sure that the two aren't stressed out about their legacy as Daiki puts it. He hopes that the future is bright for them all.

It will be… Right?
