The Safety Commission was still trying to determine what was going on in Los Angeles.
"Hellfire, come in. Respond! Hello, Hellfire. Are you there?!"
"We still haven't heard from any of the heroes who were fighting in Healson Hospital."
"Do we know the extent of the damage?"
"The effects of the blast extend in every direction from the hospital, and the resulting dust cloud has blocked visuals."
A few minutes earlier at the villa, Fat Gum was chasing after Sprite, who had taken an off.
"Sprite," he said.
He always considered Sprite, a levelheaded hero, but his taking off like that was completely out of character. However, the moment he reached the villa, massive pillars of ice erupted, knocking every single hero back, including Mt Lady. He had just jumped out of the way in time to avoid getting flattened by Mt. Lady's massive rear.
"Ouch," Mt Lady groaned.
"That came out of nowhere," said Fat Gum.
"Fat Gum!" Sprite yelled from above.
"Sprite?!" Fat Gum stared and saw him carrying an injured Hawks. "There's a medic team with the rearguard! Head there!"
"Roger!" said Sprite, flying right past.
The heroes were still pushing through the Liberation Army, but the ice had cut them off from one another, meaning they could use their overwhelming force to overpower the villains. Cementos was so overpowered that he was sent flying backwards.
"Are you okay, Cementos?"
Cementos picked himself up. "Yeah, I've got this. Stand back."
Geten was overlooking the battle. "You state-sponsored pawns love to provoke us, but I won't let you get into Re-Destro's way!"
He was then about to unleash a wave of eyes upon the heroes, but Cementos used his powers to block the attack with cement.
"What is this?" said Geten, surprised and saw Cementos controlling the cement. "That's fine; I'll attack from above instead."
He then creates some ice pillars and sends them crashing down towards Cementos, but before they can make contact, Mt Lady was able to destroy the ice with some rubble.
"So it was you," she glared. "Do you have any idea how much that hurt?!"
"Mt Lady!" Cementos yelled, creating a giant bat of cement for her. "For you!"
"Thanks," she said, wrapping it. She then began swinging the bat, smashing through the ice. "I like my ice crushed."
Destroying the ice created openings for the heroes to regroup.
"She's opening a path! Arrest as many as you can!"
A hero then noticed the hero that had attacked Compress and Tupid.
"I thought you were dealing with Tupid and Compress," he said.
The hero then drew a knife and slashed at him before attacking the other heroes.
Compress was on the balcony observing the battle. "My, my, this is a catastrophe."
"Hey," said Diablo, joining him.
"Diablo?"
"What are you hiding out here?" Diablo asked.
"Where have you been?" Compress asked. "You're a new lieutenant."
"Yeah, so are you," Diablo pointed out. "This whole commanding troops thing isn't working for me."
"Yes, you are more of a lone wolf than anything else," said Viggo as he joined them and looked down at the battle below. "I must say the heroes surprised me with such a bold attack. Especially how they handle Twice."
"So, Twice is dead," said Compress. "Tupid insisted on fighting despite my objections. I've never seen her lose composure like this before."
"Let her unleash her aggression upon the heroes; she's clever enough not to get herself killed," said Viggo.
Tupid had disguised herself as the heroes who tried to capture her attacking heroes indiscriminately.
'Being alive is hard,' she said as her transformation began to fail. 'I just want to make the world easier.'
She then jumped back, jumping onto the ice pillars just as her transformation began to fail.
'It should be full of things that I love, nothing else,' she said, viciously looking down at the heroes. 'And you're in the way, heroes.'
As the fighting continued, the heroes suddenly felt the ground shake as Giganto launched out of the ground.
"Giganto is moving!" Compress gasped.
Diablo smiled. "You know what that means? The boss is awake."
"Yes, but it's a month early," said Viggo, looking troubled. "That no doubt means something big is happening at the hospital."
Krogan had just sent the message to Giganto but knew reaching him would take a while.
"Until Giganto gets here, I can—" He winced in pain.
'Destroy the legacy,' said Drago's voice, and an image of Hiccup appeared in his mind.
"What… what was that voice?" Krogan groaned.
He then sensed something and looked up to see Hellfire directly above him.
"Halt, Krogan!" he roared.
Krogan smiled. 'The number one hero right after I wake up.'
Hellfire then unleashed a powerful burst of flames that erupted around the area around him and began burning him.
"A vast wave of hellfire," said Hellfire. "There's no escape!"
He then looked at Krogan cautiously. 'I can't let him take a single step forward. He's too dangerous; I have to take him out of commission.'
He then clenched his fist, which erupted into flames, but he jumped straight at him before he could launch an attack at Krogan. Hellfire barely had time to avoid getting grabbed by him.
'Only someone with heat resistance could overcome my attack,' he said, then noticed that Krogan was beginning to heal himself from the burns. 'No, he's just regenerating instantly the same way they did.'
He then quickly manoeuvred directly behind Krogan and struck him as hard as he could with his blazing fist, crushing him back down into the ground.
"This is Hellfire," he said, reaching for his radio. "Does anybody copy?"
"I'm here!" said Burnin.
"I'm fighting Krogan where the hospital stood," he reported. "If there's anyone who can move without touching the ground form of parameter!"
Krogan's hand then quickly shot out from the flames, but Hellfire was able to grab his forearm.
"Hands to yourself!" he yelled.
However, he was then suddenly blasted by a powerful shockwave that distinguished the flames around them and sent Hellfire crashing to the ground.
"It's almost as though I've had my master stockpile powers since the day I was born," said Krogan within the dust. "I feel like I'm omnipotent."
Krogan then took the opportunity to grab the undamaged bullets and began to remember what Doctor had said to him before his transformation.
"So why do I feel unsatisfied?" he asked himself.
He then felt the twinge of pain once again and heard Drago's voice in his head. 'The legacy…'
He then remembered his end goal: to wipe Skullcrusher and his legacy from the earth.
Hellfire then flew straight at him, and flames covered his fist.
'Something rages deep inside of me to act,' said Krogan, then blasting Hellfire with another shockwave.
This time, Hellfire could stand his ground, but he could not get anywhere close to him.
'As I feared,' Hellfire grimaced. 'He has multiple powers like the High-Ends.'
"I must destroy it," said Krogan. "Where is Skullcrusher's legacy?"
Hellfire's eyes widened. "Skullcrsuher's legacy?"
"Wait, what's Skullcrsuher's legacy?" Burnin frowned. "Hellfire, are you there?"
Night Fury was too stunned to speak because he knew that Krogan was after him.
Meanwhile, Ragdoll was at the Pussycat headquarters, frustrated that she couldn't do anything to help her teammates.
"So frustrating," she said. "If I still have my power, I would be out helping the heroes right now."
Drago stole Ragdoll's power a few months ago, and it could show the location and weaknesses of someone the user had seen.
Unfortunately, her searchability was one of the meta powers Krogan currently possessed, and she used it to track Night Fury.
"I've got to over then help him out," said Bunin. She then looked at Night Fury and the others. "You kids should fall back and evacuate."
"Burnin, wait!" Night Fury yelled as she flew off with the other heroes.
"Listen to the police and keep your distance," Burnin instructed.
"There you are," said Krogan, successfully locating Night Fury.
He was still holding Hellfire back but eventually overpowered him and turned his sights towards Night Fury. He then jumped with unbelievable power and headed straight towards the evacuation shelter.
Hellfire instantly began chasing after him. "Krogan, is it heading straight to the evacuees? The battle zone is expanding! Clearly, the area surrounding the city."
Night Fury looked at the civilians who were being evacuated, and he knew that Krogan was after him.
"Hurry up, every single second counts right now!" said a hero.
"Gunman, wake up," a cowgirl hero cried as she looked down at a hero dressed as a cowboy. "You can't be dead."
"One him later," said another heel dragging her away.
"If the destruction which comes again, we're dead. Keep the line moving."
Night Fury instantly knew what he had to do in order to protect the civilians. He began running towards the city and was quickly joined by Hookfang.
"He's after you, isn't he?" Hookfang assumed. "But you can't tell anyone because the heroes would split their forces to protect you and the civilians."
"I know," Night Fury nodded.
"The only thing they know right now is that he's after your father's legacy. It's not a lot to go on. It is a hero's job to protect the people, so you only have one choice."
They then instantly took off and began flying into the city
"I need to make sure that the evacuees can be protected," Night Fury agreed.
"Yeah, which means you got to get out of here quick."
The others were surprised to see them take off.
"Hey, were you to going?" Glacier asked.
"Sharpshot has detected someone trapped; we're going to get them out," Night Fury lied. "Don't worry, we'll be right back."
They began flying through the demolished city, who could only stare at the destruction that Krogan had caused.
'There is debris everywhere and a good amount of distance between us,' Night Fury observed. 'He probably can't see me unless he has another way to track me down. Come on, this way.'
Krogan was still chasing after Night Fury with Hellfire hot on his heels, but then he saw him moving away.
'There,' he said.
"Night Fury here," said Night Fury on Hellfire's private line. "I'm sorry for using the private line, but it's highly possible that I'm the one that Krogan is after."
"Why, because you're Skullcrusher's son?" Hellfire asked.
"That might be part of it," Night Fury admitted. "But if I am the one he's after, I can lead into an unpopulated area. Please, keep the channel open."
'I'll crush him,' said Hookfang.
'Come on, follow me,' said Night Fury. 'I'm the one you're after.'
"I know that you're Skullcrusher's son, but that still doesn't explain why he's coming after you," said Hellfire.
"I don't fully know myself," said Night Fury. "I don't have eyes on him, especially because of the dust in the air, but it looks like he's changing direction. Can you give me a heads-up?"
"I don't like being in the dark!" Hellfire snapped.
Krogan was still chasing after Night Fury. 'I still have access to the data that this powers previous user accumulated. And it would seem as if they had seen Skullcrusher's legacy right before their power was stolen. Lucky me.'
Hellfire then saw Krogan collapsing to the ground.
"He's down!" he yelled, quickly firing a shot of flames at him.
However, Krogan only stopped so that you could change directions, and he jumped out of the way before the flames touched him.
"New course! He is moving to the southwest!" Hellfire reported.
"Yeah, and that's exactly what I am," said Night Fury. "That confirms it; he's after me. I'll try to buy you some time while you evacuate the civilians."
"What?!" Hellfire growled.
'Their communicators are a pain,' said Krogan. 'I'm sure I can get rid of them.'
"Heads up!" Hellfire yelled over the radio. "Krogan is now heading southwest; he has super regeneration somehow. Nobody underestimates him!"
However, he still couldn't understand why he was focused on Night Fury. 'Targeting Hiccup? Why? I know he's Stoick's son, but why him and not his wife? Why not attack the man himself? I don't fully understand what's going on, but he did take the bait. I have to catch up. I won't leave him on his own.'
He then moved even faster, chasing after Krogan.
"We need to get ready, he's coming," said Night Fury.
"I know!" Hookfang snapped. "That creep has levelled up to a final boss; you need to make sure that he doesn't catch you."
"Mind explaining why you're following me?" Night Fury asked.
"I'm the only one who fully understands the situation, and there's no time to explain it to anyone else," Hookfang grumbled.
"That surprising considering to view, Snotlout," said Night Fury, somewhat surprised.
"Yeah, don't spread around; I have a reputation to maintain," said Hookfang. "Besides not doing anything, don't you think you're the main character on the battlefield? I just owe that villain a beat down."
Several months ago, Snotlout was captured by the League of Villains, who wanted to make him a villain. They failed to convince him, and then Skullcrusher, his uncle, led an attack to free him. However, in the ensuing battle against Drago Bludvist, his uncle was forced to retire due to the injuries he had received.
"It's my fault that your father had a hangup in his costume and retired," he said plainly. "You can simply act as bait, and once he gets close, I'll take revenge for what happened. I will defeat him and prove that I am a hero. Just don't let your guard down or get my way."
"Got it," said Night Fury, shaking his head in amusement.
'Hiccup can consistently channel 30% of the power he stored up into his body without hurting himself,' said Hookfang, who was now having a tiled time catching up with him. 'But in order to keep his body from being correct, he brings it up to 45% at the moment of impact—his time at my father's agency and his father's special training. There was a good time he improved. I have to grit my teeth and try to match him, but that's not a problem at this 30% speed. But as he gets stronger…'
He then smiled broadly. "There's no way I'm going to lose to you." He then channelled his flames and explosions, pushing him ahead of Night Fury. "There's no way I'm going to give up when I'm still behind."
Krogan was still tracking down Night Fury. 'Let's see… this should work.'
He then skidded to a halt and suddenly jumped up high into the air, so high that he burst through the dust cloud surrounding the city.
'Sorry, number one, I don't have time to play with you,' he said.
He then unleashed a powerful pulse throughout the city, knocking Hellfire back down to the ground. It also had a second effect, disrupting everyone's radios.
"Why is my comm on the fritz?" Burnin asked.
At the Safety Commission, everyone there immediately lost contact with Team Hellfire,
"Emergency! Our audio is down; we lost contact with Team Hellfire!"
"What's happening over there?"
"I don't know, but there's some new interference."
Krogan's attack also sent electricity down the wires, and several tubes that had not been destroyed at the hospital began to activate.
"Did you feel that?" Hookfang asked, looking at Night Fury
"Yeah, I don't know what it was, but it was an EMP; otherwise, my arm would be down," said Night Fury as he desperately tried to figure out what the problem was. "However, I've lost contact with Toothless, and my radio is sorted out. Whatever it was, it must've been some kind of scrambler that disrupts radio waves."
Night Fury also had the same trip feeling he had when Drago and his father fought. Then suddenly, something landed directly in front of them, and a powerful feeling of dread swarmed over them as they came face-to-face with Krogan.
"This echo in my brain; I know what it wants," he said as he reached out towards Night Fury. "Hiccup Haddock, give me your power."
Suddenly, there were two flashes, which both grabbed Night Fury and Hookfang. Night Fury looked up and saw that his mother had grabbed him, and Forge grabbed Hookfang.
"Mom? Gobber?" Night Fury stared.
"When we heard about Skullcrusher's legacy over the radio, we realised that he meant you," said Technora, looking at Hiccup.
"I seriously can't believe the two of you were about to fight him by yourselves," said Forge in disbelief. "I saw first-hand what Krogan's power is capable of in the hospital. It's now able to destroy everything it touches; even the smallest piece of debris can kill you on contact. He's not someone you can hand on your own."
"We can try," said Night Fury.
Krogan then readied himself for another jump.
"Don't forget the pro-hero aren't dead yet," said Technora. "Those of us left will handle him."
Scarlet then arrived and unleashed a powerful gust of wind with her wings, knocking Krogan back. She then screwed in, swinging her claws at him; he placed his hand against her palm, intending to disintegrate her. However, when his hand made contact, he discovered that he could activate powers and was instantly blown away.
The answer to why his powers were no longer active was obvious: Trapster had his eyes on him.
'Technora and Forge just grabbed two people,' he observed as Rock Lock supported him. 'It looks like Hiccup and Snotlout. Why are they here? Was he chasing after them?' His memories then turned to Crest, who sacrificed his life to save him. 'Crest, our number six hero, your sacrifice saved me. While I draw breath, my power and my life have one purpose. To take you down.'
He then glared up at Krogan. "I won't let you lay a finger on my students."
"Ah, of course," said Krogan, looking down at him. "Of course, you would be here to stop me, Trapster." He then pulled out a communicator. "Destroy anyone you see on the surface."
Hellfire then arrived. "Now Trajectory!"
"You might need an adjustment," said Trajectory.
Trajectory was one of Hellfire's sidekicks who had the ability to change and object movements while in motion. He quickly created a runabout of bandages around his face and used them to send Hellfire up into the air without reducing his speed.
"Guess we should have found a hiding spot first," said Trapster.
"But we couldn't risk him touching the ground again," said a hero with a fishlike helmet.
He raised his fingers and placed them against Trapster's eyes, and drops of water began to flow out. He did this to keep Trapster's eyes from drying up so he wouldn't blink.
"Thank you, Manual," said Trapster.
"No problem," said Manual. "If I go overboard, the water will force you to blink, I'm afraid. We'll work together."
Hellfire then shot right in front of Krogan, with flames covering his entire body. "Krogan! This is the end for you!"
'Uh-oh,' said Krogan, trying to keep his composure.
Hellfire unleashed a powerful wave of flames and living plasma from his fingertips. However, to his surprise, Krogan had somehow avoided the attack, though barely from the burn not on his arm.
"That hurt," Krogan winced.
'I haven't taken my eyes off him or cancelled my powers,' said Trapster.
'He should be powerless,' said Hellfire, equally confused. 'Was that his physical strength? And the jump from before? You can fly through the air with a single swing of its arms.' These movements drastically reminded him of Skullcrusher. 'I see abilities like this…'
Loudspeaker and the Doctor were watching from a safe distance.
"Even though he's got tremendous power, he still is not as strong as Skullcrusher in his prime, afraid," said Doctor, his eyes still filled with tears of joy. 'I've been focusing on altering his brain rather than overpowering his body.'
Loudspeaker just looked on, horrified. "What kind of monstrosity did you create?"
'He has a bioengineered physique. It's almost like…' said Trapster. He soon realised what its upgrades really were. '…the perfect Red Death.'
"Strength is great, but the number one and number 10 heroes can take him," said Manual.
"You are an atrocity!" Scarlet roared.
Krogan quickly thrusted his hand forward to push away from Scarlett and avoided her claw. He quickly did it again to avoid Hellfire's claims.
'His movements are getting even faster,' Hellfire noted.
"That was a nice warmup," said Krogan, dodging their attacks again.
Technora and Forge carried Night Fury and Hookfang to a safe distance away from the battle and then dropped them down.
"You should be safe here," said Forge.
"His power, Trapster, should have taken it away," said Night Fury.
"Yes, he has been weakened, if only slightly," Forge agreed.
"Why are we still so close to him?" Hookfang asked.
"We can't get too far away, not with the radios down," said Night Fury.
"He's right; Krogan is moving faster than anyone could have expected," said Technora. "Few would be able to follow him. And now, with comms has gone down, if he chases you too far out, no one will be able to catch up."
"Still, you did a good job," said Forge. "You managed to stop him temporarily, got away from the civilians, and put him in Trapster's field of vision. We'll go back and help the other pros."
"Are you saying that we're just supposed to hide here?" Night Fury stared.
"Drago's metapowers were transplanted into Krogan," said Technora. "That's what Loudspeaker said anyway."
Night Fury's eyes widened. "So that means… that he can…"
"I can imagine a worse scenario than him stealing your power," said Forge. "You're able to store any energy and transfer it into power. If he had that power, who would defeat him then? Right now, he's only one person; if we can't stop him, then what's the point of so many heroes in this world."
Burnin was already leading reinforcements towards the battlezone, but a shocking development soon blocked them.
"Are those…?" Burnin gasped.
Emerging from the dust was an entire army of Red Deaths, and these ones were a lot more vicious than the last ones.
"No…" Hiccup gasped.
"Where did they come from?" Hookfang stared.
"The whole land should have crumbled to dust in the decay wave," said Technora, shocked. "So how are their Red Deaths here?"
