Summer Camp. For most schools, that sounds like torture, but not for UA. Summer camp is a chance to enhance everyone's abilities and grow stronger, fun right? For most people, yes, but unfortunately, Hanta Sero, Mina, and Denki won't have the best experience, as they all failed the Final Exam, they have to do extra classes with Aizawa. Unfortunately for Momo, she was stuck sitting next to Mina on the bus journey there being forced to listen to Mina ramble on for the next few hours, whether it be the exams - 'Momo' - complaining about extra lessons - 'Momo' - or-

"Momo!" Mina yells into Momo's ear, snapping her back into reality.

"Hmm?"

"Were you even listening to me? I was asking you if you were excited for the summer camp, or are you too busy ogling at a certain scar-faced boy?"

"What? No! Of course I was listening! I wasn't looking at Akira," Momo is an obvious liar, and Mina easily saw through Momo's lie, but Momo couldn't help but keep looking at him.

Akira is sitting closer to the front of the bus, a large surprise for most people, as he's still a quiet, reserved introvert, but with Momo and Kirishima, he's at least a bit more talkative.

"Come on man!" Kirishima said, slapping Akira on the back. "Admit it, you're totally in love with her!"

"No, I'm not. We're just friends, that's all!"

"Sure it is man!"

"And you suppose I should bring up your glances at Mina huh?"

Kirishima got flustered, waving his hands in front of him defensively. "No man! It isn't like that."

"Sure," Akira rolled his eyes, taking a sip from his water bottle. "Because that's definitely believable…"

"When do you think we'll get there anyway?"

"Who knows?" Akira shrugged nonchalantly. "Probably another hour or so. Aizawa never told us."

Kirishima and Akira sat in a comfortable silence for a few moments, before Kirishima spoke up. "Hey Akira? What even is your quirk anyway? Nobody's ever seen you use it."

"Oh, it's nothing important, I just prefer not using my quirk whenever possible, it makes me a better fighter for when I can't use my quirk."

"Oh… I guess that makes sense, yeah."

But back at the back of the bus, Momo and Mina were having a quiet conversation, as Momo didn't want to be heard.

"…and then, the other week, before the Final Exams, I saw Akira training, and he used his quirk."

"WHAT?!" Mina shouted, causing the entire bus to turn their heads. "Sorry!" Mina lowered her voice. "What? Really?"

Momo nodded. "Yeah, it was kinda weird though… he had his sleeve rolled up, and there were scars all over his arms. He was holding this red sickle or something and was using it to try to break a wall made by Cementoss. From what I saw, he might be able to take out weapons from his body… but I can't be too sure."

"What the fuck?" Momo flinched at Mina's profanity. "That's so weird… but cool at the same time. Why hasn't he shown anyone?"

"I don't know, I haven't brought it up with him, he has to be keeping it a secret for a reason right?"

"Yeah, I guess so, but it's still weird." Mina squinted her eyes as she looked at Akira at the front of the bus, wondering what he's talking about with Kirishima.

"…I can't get over that manoeuvre you did in the exams man!" Kirishima said in his usual enthusiastic manner. "How did you learn how to do something like that?"

Akira shrugged as nonchalantly as he always did. "Training I guess, my dad always pushed me a bit much, but I guess it helped in the end."

"Your dad? Now that I think about it, I don't know anything about your family…"

"And you don't need to!" Akira snapped a bit too quickly. "Sorry… I don't have the best relationship with my parents… it's a sensitive topic for me."

Kirishima had to take a second to gather himself after Akira snapped at him. "That's alright man, I understand."

"Really?" Akira was sceptical, seeming to not believe him.

"Yeah man, family's complicated, I don't want to make you talk about something that you're not comfortable with."

"Thanks… that means a lot."

"Don't apologise man! It's what friends do."

That word never stops making Akira feel a strange feeling in his stomach. Friends… he still had to get used to that, but he liked it, and now, he just had to sit patiently in the bus to arrive at summer camp…

Steam filled the hot springs as the Class 1-A girls relaxed at the end of the first day.

"Geez, you'd think they would go a bit easier on us, we're only kids!" Mina complained once again.

"We're 16!" Ochako replied as she floated in the middle of the spring. "We can't exactly be calling ourselves kids anymore, and we're training to be heroes, I almost expected it'd be harder…"

"You won't be wishing that by the end of the week." Tooru's voice rang out from somewhere in the spring, she didn't have a towel on like the others, so it was hard to tell where she was.

"Yeah," Jiro finally spoke up, after being silent almost the entire time. "They'll be working our buts off, we need to savour the time we have left to relax."

"Good idea Jiro!" Mina spoke enthusiastically. "But some of us will be too busy with their boyyyfriends~" Mina leant towards Momo to indicate to the other girls what she was talking about. The girls all froze for a few seconds, before Tsu spoke up.

"What? ribbit"'

Momo, in a nervous wreck, waved her hands frantically in front of her in a hopeless manner of defence. "No no no, I'm not dating anyone!"

"Really? I think I get Mina's point of view though." Ururaka stated simply, igniting a whole new batch of teasing from the other girls.

"Oh yeah, you're down bad."

"Jiro's got it right ribbit"

"Mhm, I second that!"

"No no no!" Momo tried defending herself again. "We're not-"

SMACK

The girls' heads all turn to the top of the wall separating the boys and girls springs. Kota had just smacked Mineta down after he tried to climb the wall, whilst Momo hated that it happened, she loved that this is the moment it did.

"Mineta really is the worst!" Tsu shouted up at Kota.

"Thanks Kota!" Mina thanked him. A mistake. Kota ended up looking down at the Class 1-A girls, seeing all of them in their nude glory, and ended up falling backwards into the boys side of the springs.

"Look out!" Midoriya ran and somehow managed to catch Kota as he fell into the boys' side of the hot spring.

"Woah!" Iida rushes over to Midoriya to check on Koda. "Careful there, are you alright?"

Rubbing his head, Koda responded. "Y-yeah, I'm fine."

"I'll take him to Mandalay." Midoriya said, before rushing out of the spring, a towel around his waist.

Sighing, Iida walks back into the hot spring, dipping himself back in the water. "Does anyone know where Akira is? I'm worried he's out somewhere lost."

"Yeah, he's doing some extra training with Tiger, he said he wanted to get some more in before the end of the day." Kirishima spoke up.

"Speaking of Akira," Denki said, floating over towards Kirishima. "You're the only one of the guys' he speaks to that much, what's his deal?"

"I don't know man, I guess he just prefers to be alone or something, but it's better to not pressure him into talking, he'll warm up to everyone eventually."

"If Kirishima says to let him take his time," Iida stated, with his usual arm chop. "Then we should just let it happen."

"Alright," Denki complied. "I won't mention it again."

It's been about an hour since the girls got out of the hot spring, and now they're all eating together under the food tent, laughing together as they eat.

"Ururaka?" Mina asked.

"Yeah?"

"You've been sorta spaced out for a bit, what are you looking at?"

Ururaka's face burned up. "Uhh… nothing! Not looking at anyone!"

"Really? You've been getting close to a certain green haired boy recently~"

"No, it isn't like that! Deku's just a friend that's all!"

"Sure it is," Mina spoke teasingly. "Looks like that's another girl in denial about a crush."

Momo rolled her eyes. "Oh shut up Mina, I already told you, it isn't like that!"

"Keep telling yourself that."

There's a few moments of silence, before Ururaka muttered to herself. "Dammit…"

"What's wrong Ururaka?" Momo asked curiously.

""I forgot my water bottle back in the hot spring, can you go and get it for me? I would go but I promised Mandalay that I'd keep an eye on Koda once we finished eating and I think that might be too draining."

"Oh, yeah, of course." Momo smiled, standing up and walking back to the hot springs.

The hot springs are a bit of a walk from the food tent, but Momo manages the walk quite quickly. She arrives towards the intersection, one way the boy's side and one way the girls'. The signs have been taken down for the day… dammit. Guess she'll have to just guess which one was the girls' side, she can't quite remember, but it's not like anyone's in either of the hot springs. It was the left side right? No, the right side. Momo walks to the right hot spring, and as she walks through the door, she freezes in shock.

Akira stood up, ready to get out of the hot spring. So this is where he's been instead of eating! Momo can't help but stare in awe. His muscular frame glistened with water, as the towel wrapped tightly around his waist did no misjustice to his lower half. Her eyes trail over his body, seeing the scars that covered it, presumably from training, until her eyes reach his right shoulder, as just below his shoulder, on his forearm, was a tattoo. It was… a butterfly, and it had a knife on one of its wings. Momo gasped. She knew exactly what those tattoos meant. She didn't care about the fact that a 16-year-old had a tattoo, she just cared about what she just found out.

Momo's gasp alerted Akira of her presence. Jumping back in shock, he immediately started stammering as he looked at Momo.

"M-momo, I…"

Momo took a step forward.

"...can explain it…"

She took another step forward.

"...isn't what it looks like…"

She can't stop walking towards him. She knows he's lying, she knows him well enough to know.

"...please let me ex-"

Momo cut him off. Not with a phrase, not with a word, with a kiss. Momo's lips met Akira's for a few moments, her hand trailing up his torso, landing on his right shoulder, rubbing her hand back and forth over it slightly as she kissed him. Momo separated the kiss - slowly. She didn't know what came over her. She tries to speak, but she's too embarrassed to. All she can muster is:

"You don't have to explain… I understand."

Before walking away, leaving Akira just standing there, in shock, unable to hold back the blush over his cheeks, and the tear forming in his eye. Momo cared.

"Butterfly, butterfly, butterfly…"

"You alright, Momo?"

Slamming her phone on the table after Kyoka snapped her back to the real world, Momo spoke, hiding an obvious lie.

"Yeah! Everything is just fine! Why wouldn't it be? Hehe…"

"Sureee," Kyoka could clearly see through her terrible lie. "What were you looking at on your phone there?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing at all!"

"Momo I can tell when you're lying, what were you looking at?"

Letting out an exhausted sigh, Momo looked at Kyoka before speaking. "You know how some tattoos have meanings? I was just… searching some up."

"Why?"

"No reason!" Momo spurted out a little too quickly.

"Right…" Kyoka remained sceptical. "Well what tattoos were you looking at? I can help."

Picking back up her phone, Momo responded. "Butterfly and dagger, I'm searching for the butterfly."

"Guess I can have a search up the dagger then."

A few moments of comfortable silence passed, before Kyoka spoke up again. "Huh, apparently a dagger tattoo represents the adversity we fight in life, the most painful of which being death. What did you get about butterfly tattoos?"

"Life cycles, hope, the soul's rebirth, change, connections to mental health… so someone with a butterfly tattoo and a dagger tattoo have…"

"…had a major hurdle thrown at them, possibly a death, that resulted in the lowering of their mental health?"

"Yeah…" Momo suddenly stood up, grabbing her phone and putting it in her pocket. "I need to go!"

Before Kyoka could open her mouth to speak, Momo had already left running, passing Mina as she arrived at the table, sitting on the opposite side of the table as Kyoka. "Geez, is it just me or has Momo been acting weirder than usual for a few hours?"

"Yeah, ever since she came back from the hot springs with Ururaka's drink, do you think something happened?"

"Maybe… but if something did, I know who would know."

"Who?"

Mina grinned mischievously at Kyoka's question. "You'll see."

Fuck.

Bursting into his room in the camp, Akira scampered to the bathroom, turning on the sink and splashing cold water on his face. Placing his hands on either side of the sink, breathing heavily, he looked up at himself in the mirror. How did he let this happen? Now Momo knows! Or at least… she knows some of it. He can't let her know more.

"Shit…" Akira turned off the tap, walking back into his room a nervous wreck. Jumping on his bed, he lay on his back, facing the ceiling as he thought to himself. He tried to keep it a secret, he has to keep the rest of it a secret. Momo's his friend right? She won't tell anyone. Right? Why does he care so much? He's not in UA to be friends with people! He's here to… dammit.

Akira was in love with Momo.
