Dante used his wings to dodge midair, thinking that Rufus was idiotic to try and use his own attacks to hurt him. Just as Dante was about to retort saying using his own magic against him would never work, Rufus shouted as he used more magical power.
Memory make, Karma of the Burning Land" shouted Rufus before the ground burst apart with a fiery inferno. Dante was taken by surprise by the sudden attack and was hit. As Rufus smirked as Dante was consumed by the inferno, he assumed that the fight was won. His celebration was cut short however when the inferno was blasted apart by holy energy, showing Dante hovering in the air largely unhurt.
"Please I've been hit with much hotter flames than that from Natsu" responded Dante with a smirk. Rufus seemed surprised that Dante was able to withstand his attack so easily. Taking Rufus's shock as an opening, Dante charged his own magical power.
"Storm of Heaven" shouted Dante as multiple beams of holy energy erupted from his body and flew towards Rufus. Quickly recovering from his shock, Rufus smirked once again as he channeled his magical energy.
"Memory make, Shield of Heaven" shouted Rufus as the magical spell blocked Dante's attack. Dante swore at this, thinking that Rufus was really starting to annoy him.
"Damn get your own material man" stated Dante before he used his wings to speed behind Rufus. Charing his fist with holy energy, Dante was about to punch Rufus before he blasted the ground apart with more fire magic. Dante had to fly back into the air to avoid the worst of the attack. Hovering in the air above Rufus, Dante wondered how he was going to get the best of him.
"It's no use Dante Strauss, I watch every one of your attacks closely and memorize them" stated Rufus in a confidant tone. Hearing these words, Dante suddenly got an idea and smirked. As Dante channeled his magical power, he thought this was likely the reason that Marvis wanted him to fight Rufus.
"Watch this one then" yelled Dante as he released his magical energy.
"Heaven's Blinding Light" shouted Dante as a blinding light erupted from his body. Just as he had planned Rufus was looking intently at him, ready to memorize his attack for his own use. Since Dante had not revealed this attack earlier, Rufus had no way of knowing his mistake until it was too late. The blinding light forced Rufus to close his eyes as they burned. Seeing his chance, Dante quickly closed the distance between himself and Rufus.
"Your wide open! Heaven's Fist Barrage" yelled Dante before he struck Rufus with multiple fist charged with holy energy. Rufus grunted with pain as he was sent crashing into the ground, defeated. Dante pumped his fist in the air as he celebrated defeating the first member of Saber Tooth. One down and only four more to go. Remembering the rest of Marvis's plan, Dante raced out of the library and took into the sky.
"Okay now I have to find Juvia" stated Dante to himself as he searched the city from high in the sky.
