Chapter 150: A Second Chance

"Damn I can't hold into my beast form anymore" stated Elfman after he completed another assault on the miniature dragons beside Dante. Dante turned his head towards his little brother and watched as Elfman reverted back into his original form. Swearing to himself, Dante thought things were getting really bad if Elfman was that low on magical power.

"Dammit me too" responded Lisanna as she reverted back to her original form. Mira was shortly behind Lisanna, so Dante was the only Strauss sibling left that was able to hold onto his takeover magic. Panic raced through Dante's mind as his siblings breathed heavily, vulnerable in their original forms.

Suddenly a strange sense of déjà vu struck Dante, as if he had already experienced this sequence of events before. Clearly in his head he could see fatal attacks being fired towards his defenses siblings before he used his guardian angel spell. Dante clutched his chest to make sure that it was still intact as he vividly saw himself be blasted away, his own life ending. Looking up at the miniature dragons Dante envisioned firing their attack towards his siblings, Dante had a feeling what he saw was some sort of premonition.

Seeing that the same miniature dragons that Dante envisioned firing their fatal attacks beginning to charge up their magical power, Dante was ready for them this time. Charging his magical energy through his foot, Dante stomped it into the ground which caused serval large sized pieces of earth to break apart. Dante then threw three large sized chunks of earth to intercept the pathway of each deadly blast firing towards his siblings. Each blast was blocked by the large sized chunks of earth as Dante spread his wings wide.

"DO NOT TOUCH THEM" yelled Dante defensive about the safety of his siblings as he sped towards each miniature dragon. He cut through each miniature dragon, slicing them in half as he landed back close to his siblings. They were still surrounded by enemies, so Dante charged up his magical power. Seeing the grim future of him dying in order to protect his siblings gave Dante his second wind and the necessary magical power for his next attack.

"Storm of Heaven" yelled Dante as serval beams of holy energy shot out of his body and hit serval miniature dragons. Dante breathed a sigh of relief as they were finally rid of the endless horde of enemies for the moment. Breathing heavily, Dante reverted back to his original form in order to save the small amount of magical power he had left.

"Are you guys alright" asked Dante between deep breaths. Still, he clutched his chest, just to make sure that he was really okay. What the hell was the vision that he saw, and why had the events played out just like he saw they would.

"We're fine but did anyone else see that" asked Elfman in a confused tone. Dante became even more confused at this strange vision at hearing Elfman's words.

"Wait you guys saw a vision also" asked Dante thinking he was the only one that saw the strange vision. Until Elfman asked this question Dante thought it was maybe a new power from his angel form but this poked a hole in that theory.

"Yah, I saw it too, we watched you die Dante" responded Lisanna in a worried tone but relived that the terrible vision they saw did not come true. Dante was wondering what the hell was going on, how could this be happening. How could his siblings and himself suddenly have the same vision. Had they seen some sort of future? How was that possible?

"I don't know what we all saw but it looks like seeing it saved us" responded Dante still clutching his chest. After another short moment Dante removed his hand, sure now that he was really fine and didn't have a gaping hole where his heart should be.

"It saved you Dante, you would have died if it wasn't for this strange vision" responded Lisanna in a worried tone trying to get the image of Dante dying out of her head. Dante turned his head towards his siblings. Looking at his siblings Dante noticed that Elfman and Lisanna were shaken up but mostly fine. Mira looked like she was holding back tears as she looked at him. While Dante was worried about what was wrong with Mira, he knew that now wasn't the time to think about such things since the city was still an active battlefield.

"Let's not think about that right now, we still need to keep our guard up" responded Dante as he surveyed the area.

"Right, but I don't think we can keep fighting. You're the only one with any magical power left Dante" responded Lisanna.

"Just stay close to me, I'll protect you guys no matter the cost" responded Dante in a serious tone as he transformed into his Angel Soul Gabriel form.

Dante didn't have enough magical power to go into his archangel form for long so Dante figured he could fight longer in his weaker angel soul form. Seeing some miniature dragons start to approach their position, Dante got into a combat stance. As Dante stood against serval enemies while he was exhausted, he thought about what Natsu would say in this sort of situation. Smiling to himself, Dante charged holy energy into his fist as he started to speak.

"Now I've got a fire in my belly" responded Dante with a confidant smile as he stood against serval enemies. Spreading his wings wide, Dante charged forward. He was determined to keep fighting for as long as he needed to, nothing would happen to his siblings if Dante had anything to say about it. For serval minutes Dante flew across the surrounding area, sending miniature dragons crashing into the ground with his holy fist. As Dante sent another miniature dragon crashing into the ground, the remaining enemies started to glow.

"What the hell" asked Dante in a confused tone thinking at first it was some sort of attack. His theory was quickly disproven however when the miniature dragons started to vanish right in front of him. Turning his head towards the horizon, Dante could see one of the seven dragons also vanish from sight. Dante didn't know how, but it looked like the battle was finally over. As the last of the enemies vanished into nothingness, Dante released his Angel Soul form as his exhaustion finally caught up with him.

"It's finally over" stated Dante in a relieved tone as he collapsed onto his back. Dante thought it was funny, he knew he was on the cold and hard ground but to him it felt like a soft mattress as his eyes became heavy. With the danger passed and his siblings and Fairy Tail safe once again, Dante decided now was a wonderful time for a nap. Closing his eyes, sleep soon overtook Dante as Mira and the rest of his siblings raced over to his side.

"You don't have to fuss so much over me Sorano and Wendy. I'm fine really" stated Dante with a smile as Sorano and Wendy continued to pour their healing magic into his tired body. Dante was now sitting in a comfortable bed as Sorano and Wendy tended to his injuries. After the fight ended, Dante woke up in the bed supposedly Elfman carried him while he was napping.

"Please just let us do our job master, this is what we excel at" responded Wendy in a determined tone as she continued to apply her healing magic to Dante's beaten and tired body.

"Yes, you actually are a lot worse off than the others since you had to fight right after exhausting yourself in the games. It's honestly astounding how you and Erza were able to keep fighting so intensely" stated Sorano as her healing magic poured into Dante. Dante nodded his head at these words, he had heard he and Erza were in the worst shape after the battle. At the time Dante didn't realize how much damage his body had taken but now that things had slowed down, Dante's entire body felt sore and heavy.

"I'm grateful you two, thank you" responded Dante after accepting their help. Despite his injuries and exhaustion, Dante still felt guilty that Sorano and Wendy were fussing over him instead of others that could use their help. Sorano smiled lovingly at her master and the man she loved while she held onto his chin, forcing him to look her in the eyes as she started to speak.

"Please don't feel guilty about accepting our help master. We love you and want to make sure you are okay" responded Sorano knowing that Dante was the type of person that wanted to be the last one to receive healing when others were hurting. Sorano then leaned forward and placed a loving kiss on Dante's lips. Smiling into the loving kiss, Dante returned it. Dante could feel some of his tiredness leave his body as he enjoyed the sweet taste of Sorano's lips. After a short moment, Sorano leaned back from her master as Dante started to speak.

"Alright Sorano, I won't feel guilty. I love you two so much. I was only able to fight so hard because I knew you two along with everyone else was depending on me" responded Dante with a loving smile towards Sorano and Wendy. Sorano and Wendy both felt their hearts swell with happiness at these words.

"We know master, that's why we love you. You are always thinking about everyone's safety even over your own" responded Wendy before she leaned forward to place her own loving kiss on her master's lips. Smiling into the kiss, Dante enjoyed the sweet taste of Wendy's lips on his own. After a short moment, Wendy leaned back from her master's lips and continued to speak.

"You would really make a wonderful guild master" stated Wendy with a loving smile. Sorano smiled at these words as she nodded her head in agreement. Dante could feel himself become nervous at these words as he started to speak.

"Hey now not you two also. I would make a terrible guild master" responded Dante in a nervous tone. He didn't like it when people insisted that he would make a good guild master, he certainly didn't think so. It was bad enough that Markov always pestered him about it, but now others were voicing the same idea.

"Master why don't you think so? You are strong and certainly have Fairy Tail's best interest at heart" asked Sorano in a confused tone. When she first heard from Mira that Dante had rejected the idea of succeeding Markov after Fairy Tail was attacked by Laxus, she didn't understand why Dante refused. Dante sighed before he started to speak. Wendy and Sorano waited patiently as Dante began to speak, their healing was finished.

"Those things are true Sorano. Besides Gildarts and Master Markov, I am one of the guilds strongest and I would do anything for the safety of the guild but being guild master requires so much more than just that" responded Dante.

"What do you mean master" asked Wendy in a confused tone. Like many others, Wendy was of the opinion that Dante would make an excellent guild master.

"The guild is a family, and the guild master is the head of the family. It just isn't the duty of the guild master to protect the family but to make the guild a home. Master Markov is able to make Fairy Tail feel like a home more than I ever could. Maybe I'll be guild master someday but not until I know what it means to make a place a home and be the head of a family" responded Dante in a serious tone. He knew how serval people in the guild felt about this subject matter.

Dante could see the sense in their reasoning that he would be a good master, but he just had a feeling he wasn't ready yet. Thinking about it, Dante didn't even know what sort of sign he was waiting for that would tell him he was ready. he just knew he would know when the time was right if it ever would be. Sorano and Wendy shared a look between each other, thinking that Dante needed time to see what they and so many others already could see.

"We understand master. You should get some rest anyways; your body needs it" responded Wendy before she placed a short and loving kiss on Dante's lips. After the short kiss, Wendy stood up. Sorano quickly kissed her master goodbye before she stood up. Soon Dante was alone in his recovery room, he supposed he was somewhere in the large castle.

"I'm just thankful that everyone lived, that vision though was weird" sated Dante to himself as he laid down into the soft mattress while he thought about what could have caused the strange vision. The vision almost seemed like it was of the future, but the knowledge allowed Dante to change how things played out. Closing his eyes, Dante supposed he would have time later to think about the strange vision. For now, Dante was too tired to resist the urge to fall asleep.
