Chapter 40
Intertwined
U.A. Training Gym
KABOOM!
an explosion was made as the entire Gym shook. Smoke was covering the entire area as Katsuki stood in the midst. He breathed heavily as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. He couldn't sit back and relax, after everything that happened so far. Class 1-A wasn't the same anymore.
Ever since Izuku and Eri went missing, everyone has been trying till their bones broke. Even though Mineta was training, classes resumed to avoid any suspicion of the other classes. People started to notice Izuku missing but everyone was told that he had a provisional training with pros. Endeavor was the one who accepted the lie. After taking the responsibility, he took Shoto and Bakugou for their provisional training.
A month has passed since Izuku and Eri disappeared. Bakugou clapped his hands together as sparks were made out of his hands. He launched a massive AP shot at the wall as it exploded on impact, shaking the gym once more.
"Dammit…" he cursed under his breath.
With All Might
Toshinori arrived at U.S.J, where it all started, the disappearance of his successor as he walked into the disaster zone where he was kidnapped. He cursed himself for not being there, for not helping him. He made a promise and he broke it, to be that boy's side. He stood there as he clenched his fist in frustration, if only he could-
"I'll be your Hero!"
Toshinori widened his eyes as he turned around. He could've sworn he heard Young Midoriya's voice just now. He then felt a connection through One for All.
"I'll smash that darkness,"
Then all of sudden, memories started to flow through him. A connection between him and his successor. A flood of memories came at him like a comet crashing down on earth.
"Become our Auxiliary,"
"I'll help you save this Empire,"
"Are you ready to save everyone?"
Toshinori held his head as it started to be overwhelmed with the memories. He saw his successor standing at a cliff with someone, a girl as they stood side by side.
"Akame, I will be your Hero,"
So much was flowing through Toshinori right now as he witnessed everything that had happened to Izuku. He watched as Izuku took on a giant humanoid creature. Fought off against a combustion human. Dealt with a group of people. Witnessing death left and right.
Toshinori turned around as he saw a purple particle aimlessly floating by as he couldn't help but wonder what it was. What were these memories, and why did he feel a connection with One for All.
With the Rest of Class 1-A
Ochako sat on the bench outside of the dorm as she could only stare up at the sky as she couldn't help but think about Izuku. Where has he gone? Is he alright? What is he doing right now? So many questions and worries that were left in her mind.
"Uraraka?"
She turned as she saw Iida, she noticed that his eyes were baggy as he clearly didn't have any sleep.
"Iida? Are you okay? Looks like you didn't get any sleep,"
Iida sighed as he looked at the gravity girl, "You as well,"
Ochako touched under her eye as she did feel her eyes being heavy occasionally. She placed her hand in her lap as she clenched her pants, "It's just…it's been a month since then and they still haven't found him yet, I can't help but worry,"
Iida sat next to her as he looked at the sky with her, "I do too… he's our friend, I feel so useless, Even after everything he's done. I still couldn't offer a hand for him,"
Ochako nodded as she truly wondered what he was doing at the moment.
"Kirishima! Todoroki! Wait!" They heard Yaoyorozu cry out. They turned their heads as they saw Todoroki and Kirishima storm out of the building with a serious face.
Iida quickly stood up as he got in their way, "What are two doing?" He questioned them.
"Isn't it obvious, we're going to find Midoriya," Todoroki said sternly.
"Don't try to stop us this time Iida," Kirishima was dead set about this as Iida clenched his teeth.
"You both are being reckless! And do you even have any clues as to where he is?" Iida argued with them.
"Well it's better than just standing here, waiting for news! We haven't gotten anywhere in the past month!" Kirishima argued back.
"Midoriya could be in trouble right now, we can't wait any longer," Todoroki stood his ground as Iida was hesitating.
This situation, it all felt way too familiar, "You both are being irrational," they heard a tired voice rang out as they all froze as they saw Aizawa walking towards them.
" !"
"Kirishima, Todoroki, what happened if you are also captured just like Midoriya and Eri, then we would have to expand our searches and leave many other students at risk," he said.
"But sir-!"
"Kirishima, we are doing our best to find him but right now we can't afford anymore students to go missing again, if the two of you so much as step out of U.A. consider yourselves expelled," Aizawa threatened them.
Kirishima clenched his teeth as they did not yield. Todoroki and Kirishima walked forward, "Then I'll take full responsibility! Midoriya is my friend! I'm not abandoning-!"
All of sudden purple mist flew directly in front of Todoroki and Kirishima as Miss Midnight walked out as the two boys collapsed, knocked out.
"Sorry Midnight,"
She shook her head, "It was the only way,"
"Mr. Aizawa," Ochako walked up to him.
He turned to her as she looked at him with a pleading expression.
"Did you find any clues?"
Aizawa shook his head, "All clues and tracks have been cold since that day, we don't know anything,"
Ochako frowned as she looked down at the floor, "Deku…where are you?"
In the Empire, Capital
SLAM!
"Damn it all!" A frustrated shout could be heard in the room as Prime Minister Honest huffed over the table. He shook in anger as he had a wanted paper on the table. Deku's wanted poster was in front of him as he gritted his teeth in frustration. He grabbed a knife and stabbed the paper, directly on the face of Deku.
"Deku…you're a bane in my rule! I'll have your head once I get my hands on you!" Honest ripped the paper to shreds as he was losing his mind.
"That is quite the look on your face, Prime Minister," Honest heard someone at the end of the room as he saw General Budou.
He stood there as he stared down Honest, the latter was getting irritated, "What the hell do you want!"
"I came to bring you news, Your son has returned," he announced.
Honest eyes widened in shock as he fixed his composure. He sighed, "Is that so, then where is he?" He asked.
"Here I am, father!" a man with white hair, similar to that of Honest walks in with confidence as he grinned at him.
"I have returned from my journey!"
Honest smiled as he stood up straight, "Ah Syura, I'm glad you have returned and just in time as well,"
Syura bowed his head, "Indeed father, and I heard that you are in a bit of a pickle,"
"I can't deny that someone has been a thorn in my side," Honest admitted.
Budou pulled out a wanted poster as he looked at it, "Thanks to Wave and Esdeath, we now have the face of Deku,"
He put it down on the table as Syura looked at it as he widened his eyes in shock.
'That boy!'
Honest tore a piece of meat and started to chew on it, "Even so, no one will report him to the authorities and the people have completely taken his side,"
"Don't worry father," Syura tried to reassure his father as he placed his hand on his chest.
"My team and I will deal with 'Deku'"
Honest was intrigued as he glared at his son, "Oh? And what makes you think you will succeed where The Jaegers have failed. Esdeath herself said that Deku was able to keep up with her,"
"Because I know where that boy came from,"
With Wave
He sat there at the table as snow fell down on the city they were at. He looked at his cake as he didn't take a single bite.
"You're wrong… your Empire is the reason, they're the reason people can't smile anymore! The reason why so many lost their lives!"
Wave couldn't get the words out of his head when he fought Deku, he was conflicted and wounded inside. He wanted to win that fight but he couldn't, he was still far too weak against him.
"Tell me, whenever they look at you or your soldiers, how many of them smile at you?"
He looked at the people around them as he did see some smiles but whenever they were Imperial soldiers nearby…no one smiled at them, no felt safe with them. He clenched his fist in frustration.
"I'll get those smiles back! Whatever it takes!"
Wave didn't want to believe him, after that fight he wanted to reject him, to deny his words but… he couldn't help but look at the people around him. A soldier is supposed to protect the people that he swore to and yet none of them felt safe near him, riots kept breaking out against them. All chanting that boy's name.
"Wave?"
He looked up to see Kurome looking at him, worried as her blackened eyes kept staring into his.
"Huh? Kurome? What's wrong, the cake isn't good?"
"No, it's just you've been staring at your cake with daggers, is something wrong?"
Wave was hesitant as he sighed, he kept looking around, looking at the people's faces.
"Kurome, what are we fighting for?"
Kurome looked at him in shock, "What do you mean, we fight for the Empire,"
"Yeah…the Empire…"
The more he kept looking at the people, the way they saw Deku as the light that had shown up when they needed him was something that the people should've looked at him or the soldiers of the Empire but yet they looked at them like they were confronting a Danger Beast, Fear.
Wave truly wondered if… they were really right and what they fought for was ever right.
The fight with Deku was an absolutely crushing defeat and an eye opener to Wave. He didn't want to betray his friends but he couldn't help but wonder about these questions inside his head. He looked at Run as he was looking at a street performer dressed as a clown. Wave got up to ask Run the question but stopped when he saw the look at Run's face.
Anger soothed out of him as he stared down at the street performer.
"Run?"
The man broke out of the anger as he looked at Wave, "You alright?"
"Yes…I'm fine, sorry…" Run returned to the table as Wave couldn't help but wonder what was that all about.
Wave looked up at the sky as the snow gently landed on his face, still reminiscing about the fight
"You know nothing about them, and what they've been through! Don't you dare call them scum!"
Wave clenched his fist, that question kept coming to him again, what was he fighting for?
With Tatsumi and Mein
Tatsumi cut down a bear as it fell down to the ground as he stood on top of it as Mein kept staring at him.
"This should be enough to fill Akame's stomach for a bit," he muttered.
"Most likely won't but either way, it will satisfy her," she walked towards him as the boy dropped down from the bear. Tatsumi kneeled down to inspect the bear as Mein in the other hand couldn't keep her gaze off of him.
She had a slight blush, remembering that day when Izuku and Akame came back from their chat and they were interlocking their fingers together. Blushing like crazy as well.
She imagined herself like that with Tatsumi but she didn't say anything about it.
"Alright! We should get going now, the rest of the team are waiting for us," he turned as he saw Mein's eyes staring at him.
He tilted his head, "Uh? Mein, you alright?"
She snapped out of it as she shook her head, "I-I'm fine, anywhere let's go," she stuttered a bit.
Tatsumi was confused by her action as he then turned to the bear and started to wrap it with a rope and dragged it with him. He walked beside her as he couldn't help but stare at her.
To Tatsumi, Mein was acting strange and wasn't herself like before.
"Hey Mein, are you really alright?" He asked.
"Yep definitely," she didn't look at him as she kept walking.
Tatsumi raised an eyebrow as he sighed, the snow was picking up. Mein was thinking about what she was feeling inside, she wanted to express this feeling, the same way that Akame did but… she then looked at Tatsumi as both of then were looking at each other.
She noticed his gaze as she blushed a bit, "Why are you looking at me like that!" She jumped back a bit.
"Well you were acting a bit strange, is something wrong?" He asked.
Mein was about to speak as she wanted deny it but she stayed quiet as she had a soft pout on her.
Tatsumi didn't understand this behavior about her, usually she would insult him and mock him a bit but now it's like she was more reserved.
"Hey Tatsumi I have something to tell you something," she said as Tatsumi looked at her as she had a soft blushing slowly appearing on her face as she looked at him.
"I…" she looking into his eyes as Tatsumi looked at hers, for some reason his heart was pacing as he was curious to what she was going to say.
She then frowned as she turned her head, "It's nothing…" she kept walking towards the camp site they set up as Tatsumi couldn't help but wonder what she was going to say. He continued to follow behind her, wondering what she was going to say.
As they approached the campsite, they saw Susanoo, Lubbock, and Sheele at the campfire, keeping the flame alive, they looked at the two.
"Ah you two are back and you brought food with you," Susanoo smiled at them.
"Yeah…" Mein headed inside of one of tents as everyone present looked at her then at Tatsumi, wondering what happened?
Tatsumi noticed their gazes at him as he shrugged, not knowing what was going on with her as well.
"I'm as confused as all of you," he said as he looked around.
"Where's everyone else?" he asked.
"Boss and Leone are in the tent, talking about what is the next move, Chelsea returned back to HQ, and Izuku and Akame…" Lubbock informed him
Tatsumi tilted his head, "What are they doing?"
"Akame is training Izuku how to use a sword,"
Tatsumi blinked in shock, "Well that's a surprise,"
Lubbock nodded, "Izuku also asked me to help him visualize specific items as well,"
Lubbock stood up and stretched as he looked in the far distance as there were two silhouettes, standing face to face.
Tatsumi looked over as he noticed the two of them, "And Eri? Is she in the tents?"
"She's with them, she insisted that she wanted to watch," Lubbock answered.
With Izuku and Akame
A Clash of wooden bokkens could be heard as Izuku slid back as he breathed heavily.
Akame stood there as she watched Izuku, "You're form is getting slightly better but it still needs work,"
Izuku nodded as he charged at her as he was about to do a downward slash, Akame sidestepped the attack as she twirled and swung her bokken at his hip. Izuku quickly shifted his blade to block her attack as he was sent away from her. He felt himself shake a bit. He straightened himself up but Akame was already upon as she lightly tapped her blade on top of his head.
"You still need work," she said.
Izuku scratched the top of his head as he nodded, "I still have so much to learn," he looked at the wooden blade as she smiled a bit.
"You'll get used to it, don't worry,"
Izuku smiled as he nodded.
Eri sat on a log as she watched the two interact, she wondered what happened between the two when she saw Izuku and Akame come back to the cabin, standing very close together and holding each other's hand.
She wondered why they were like that until she realized and remembered what Mirio told her. When a boy and girl hangout with each other and like each other really much then they are 'dating'
Eri got off the log as she ran up to them. The two turned to her as they heard her approaching them.
"Mr. Deku, are you done?"
Izuku nodded as he turned to Akame, "We should head back to the campsite,"
She hesitated a bit as she wanted to say something which Izuku noticed but she nodded. Izuku grabbed Eri's hand as they walked together. Akame, on the other hand, walked behind them. It seemed like she was thinking about something. Izuku wondered what happened but also realized that they were together…
As in boyfriend and girlfriend. Izuku blushed a bit, saying that in his head was still kind of embarrassing to him. He never really experienced this before, especially in another world. Izuku had seen a lot of romance scenes from TV shows but he never had any real life experience.
He was clueless on what to do and also he was dealing with being hunted by the Empire, they've seen his face now and he can't just aimlessly roam around in the city anymore.
"Mr. Deku?" He heard Eri whisper to him. He looked down at her as she gestured him to lower his head so she could whisper in his ears.
He leaned down as Eri cupped her hands together and whispered into his ears, "Are you and Akame dating?"
Izuku widened his eyes as he knew Eri was curious about their relationship. He looked at her in shock then back at Akame who looked at them as she tilted her head in confusion.
He sighed as he nodded towards Eri. The little girl's eyes sparkled a bit as she looked at Akame with a bright smile which confused her even more.
Eri then jumped up and down, "Does that mean Akame is going to come home with us,"
Izuku smiled at the excitement of the girl as he patted her head, "I don't know, we'll see once we find a way home,"
Eri nodded, Akame approached right on her left as she looked at the two, "What are you talking about you two," she asked.
Eri just smiled at her, "Nothing~" she giggled. Akame was confused as she looked at Izuku for an answer which he gestured that he'll tell her later.
The three approached the camp as Lubbock spotted them as he waved at them. "There you guys are! Enjoying your family outing you lovebirds," he teased.
Izuku sweatdropped at Lubbock who was smirking at them raising his eyebrows. Eri ran towards the campsite as she started to talk to Lubbock about the two of them. Izuku was about to join them but Akame stopped him as she grabbed his hand. Halting the hero as he turned to her.
"Akame? What's wrong?"
Akame was hesitant at first as she looked him in the eye, "There's still time before lunch, can we um talk,"
Izuku was shocked as he nodded, "Okay, um where do you want to go?"
She gestured to him to follow her as she headed away from the campsite. Izuku followed right behind her and the others noticed this as they wondered where they were going. Lubbock questioned it as he noticed Eri was about to follow them but then he realized something, if they were going alone without notifying Eri then…
Lubbock widened his eyes as he grabbed Eri on the shoulders, " ?"
"It's best not to follow them, besides I think it's best if you let them have their 'chat'" Lubbock awkwardly smiled as Eri tilted her head in confusion. Lubbock looked at the two of them as he said this in his head, 'Good Luck Izuku!'
Meanwhile with Izuku and Akame
The both of them walked into the forest as the snow gently fell on them. Izuku was wondering where they were going and also wondering what did Akame want to talk about?
Then he widened his eyes as he realized that they haven't done anything that couples do. So then he thought, 'Does she want to end it?!'
Izuku put his hand on his chin, 'If that's so then maybe it's the fact that we only have been dating for 4 days and we haven't been on a date yet either. Does she want to end because it'll affect the missions? Maybe that's it, then what do I do? Should I accept that feeling or…'
Izuku scratched his head as he was contemplating on what to do. He had no experience in this and now he was going to experience a break up.
"We're here," Akame announced as the hero looked up as they were by a lake. The water wasn't frozen but the sun wasn't out so it barely glistened. Akame sat on a log as she tapped right next to her, gesturing for Izuku to sit next to her.
He gulped as he sat next to her. The both of them were silent as they watched the snow fall on the lake as it disappeared into the water. Izuku was tense as he didn't know what was going to happen.
"Izuku…"
Izuku jumped a bit as he turned to Akame as she was looking him in the eye. She had a solemn look, and Izuku was preparing himself. Ready to hear the words come out of her mouth.
"How do we go about this?"
"Huh?"
Izuku stared at her dumbfounded as Akame had a blush on her face, "I…I never been in this kind of relationship before so…I wanted to talk about how we go about this…"
Izuku looked at her shocked, he was stunned. A girl as beautiful as her has never had a relationship like this before? He scratched his head, "Um well…I don't know myself since I haven't really experienced this as well,"
Akame looked at him as she softly smiled at him, "I guess we both don't have experience in this sort of relationship,"
Izuku blushed a bit as well as he scratched his head, "I guess we just have to wing it right?"
Akame giggled a bit, "I guess we do,"
Izuku then had an idea, "How about this, we talk about our past, that way we can get to know each other more,"
Akame looked at him as she had a hesitant look which Izuku noticed. He then also remembered that Akame had a very tragic past and that she rarely talked about it.
Izuku then looked at her, "If you don't want to talk about it that's fine, I know that your past was…"
Akame shook her head as she placed her hand on his, "It's fine…it's just something that it isn't easy to talk about,"
Izuku nodded, "Yeah…I understand, but it's good to let out all of your frustrations, bottle them up won't do you good, my friend… bottled things up and then he tried to blame himself for a thing that didn't happen,"
Akame looked at him, "Your friend?"
"Oh yeah, Kacchan, he's a bit aggressive and very loud but he is confident and strong,"
Akame looked at him as she tilted, "He sounds very pompous,"
Izuku chuckled a bit, "Yeah he was but ever since he opened up, we became rivals and we're striving who's going to become the greatest,"
Akame sat there as she listened to him, "At first he bullied me though because I didn't have my quirk at the time,"
Akame frowned as she didn't like that Izuku was bullied by him. Izuku noticed her look, "It's all good, he is still trying to become a better person, slowly but he's getting there," he tried to reassure him.
"What about your other classmates," she asked.
Izuku looked at her as he widened his eyes as she only had her gaze at him. Not looking anywhere else but just him.
He smiled as he went on, "There is Iida who is our class representative and he tries to keep the class in order but everyone does their own thing,"
"Uraraka was my very first friend, she helped me a lot throughout my school year, she evened helped me when I was trying to get into the school in the first place,"
"Oh also there is Todoroki, he started off cold and mysterious at first but he later warmed up to everyone,"
"Then there's Kirishima, he's kinda like Bulat except he wasn't attracted to men but they both had a chivalrous heart,"
Izuku went on and on about his classmates, telling them about their Quirks and their personalities. Akame never left her gaze off of him as she listened to him. His muttering and rambling were irrelevant to her. She was focused on his face, remembering every feature on it.
She couldn't advert her gaze anywhere, seeing him smile and glow so bright. Even if the clouds were gray and the snow felt cold. She still felt warm, in his presence. Like a radiant sun who shone in the dark.
The day where he confessed and the day where she confessed, were special moments for her. When they were walking back to the camp, she heard Eri. About how they wanted to bring her to their world once this was all over. She thought about it, she didn't know if she could but it was a choice that was going to be made down the line.
For now, she was enjoying a moment with the person she loved the most. Nothing else mattered right at that moment.
"Oh then there's our homeroom teacher who almost expelled us and…" Izuku stopped his rambling as soon as he turned to Akame as their faces were now close to each other, inches away. Their lips were really close to each other. They stared into each other's eyes as they couldn't help but admire each other.
"Sorry, did I interrupt…" Akame asked.
Izuku shook his head, "No…you didn't…"
Akame then leaned closer as she was closing the little distance they had. Izuku didn't move back or resist, he merely closed his eyes as Akame did as well. Then Akame completely closed the gap, Izuku felt euphoria completely take over as soon as she closed it.
Their lips intertwined as no one was around. Just them, the snow and the lake. Enjoying each other's embrace.
Meanwhile at the campfire, Najenda wondered where the two were at since lunch was about to start soon. Najenda then figured they wanted alone time with each other as she chuckled a bit.
Susanoo noticed, "Boss?"
"Nothing Su, Nothing…"
She stared off into the distance.
End
