Izuku was seven now. Some months had passed, and Sakura's hair had grown back, but he was still rejected by his classmates: some due to fear, while the majority had dubbed him a bully for rendering Sakura quirkless, even now, since her hair still wasn't long enough to use her quirk again.
"He's a bully, Mr Sato!" They had complained, and yet, sensei defended him, saying he was the most capable student of his class and the one with the most success rate at being a hero, which only pissed off the students more. Things were worse when they had learnt he was sensei's favorite.
They had done a lot of stuff. They firstly started with throwing Izuku's food to the trash, then they had begun to steal his notebooks, yet nothing was worse than their words.
"You're just a murderer!" They yelled, relishing in the way Izuku seemed to fight to hold his tears.
"Oh, but he is crying like a little girl!" They laughed, as if it was really funny.
"Yeah, what kind of hero sheds tears at the slightest provocation? You're a disgrace, Midoriya. No wonder your parents are gone. Makes no sense, he is sensei's favorite, when he is just a weakling!"
Izuku ran to his room as they laughed even harder.
Shouto got out of the car, carefully observing what would be his new home: it was a three-story house, whose paint seemed extremely recent, and the yard was as large as his house's.
A child protective services officer told him that his father was currently in pretrial detention, while a trial was pending against him. Shouto was glad that meant he was gone.
He had left him scarred, and his left eye was still bandaged from the boiling kettle dad had thrown against him.
A broad man appeared on the door, and as he walked to them, Shouto stepped back instinctively. The man's figure reminded him too much of father, Endeavor, who hit him every day, gave him black eyes without any shame; after all, he controlled when Shouto went out, so if he was injured, he would just confine him to his room. Endeavor, who hit mom for laughing and being happy. Endeavor, who...
The man was close, standing in front of him. His smile seemed bright, but that didn't fool Shouto. Grown men were dangerous. He tightened his fists. If only he wasn't forced to live with this stranger...
Would this man be like him?
"Shouto-kun! I am Haruko Ito! And this is my wife, Yu Takeyama." He stepped aside, revealing a blonde woman with seemingly kind purple eyes. She seemed familiar... until Shouto remembered Mt Lady on the TV. This was her. Shouto didn't feel any excitement. Pro-heroes only cared about fame. She probably adopted him to look like a saint or something, he mused.
"It's a pleasure to have you here. I hope you get to view us as family someday." She smiled, but Shouto sensed it was forced as she loomed over him. Mom always squatted to meet his eyes. This woman was nothing like her, and this was just a reminder of how society had taken away his mom, completely sane, to a mental hospital.
Rage came down Shouto, and he strode past them without a word and entered the house, manners be damned.
Shouto was stopped short by a boy taller than him, probably twelve or thirteen.
The boy's eyes widened as he took in Shouto's appearance. "Oh, it's just the new boy that was adopted," he remarked casually, as if discussing the weather. His tone carried a hint of disdain, and Shouto could sense the underlying implication: Mount Lady had adopted him for the money, just like she had adopted so many others. Shouto went still, standing tall and proud. He wasn't going to let this boy act like he was nothing. "Seems like you are unlucky. The evil father and the crazy mother? It isn't exactly..."
Before the boy could continue, Shouto quickly kicked his crotch with all the force he could gather, and the boy fell to his knees. In a quick stride, he grabbed the boy's dark hair, and stared at him with his only eye.
"What did you call my mom?"
Izuku dodged Mineta's balls, still stuck to the floor due to his shoe being attached to the ground by one of his opponent's balls. It was one of the few times Izuku didn't feel any guilt by punching or shoving his adversary. Everyone knew Mineta was up for no good, trying to spy the girl's changing room... the way he kept talking about boobs had everyone tired, and besides two or three people that stood by his side, no one particularly liked him, especially the girls.
Mineta pounced him, bringing him to the floor. As he started to kick and punch Izuku's face, he activated his quirk, burning the other's clothes.
Horrified, Mineta tried to turn off the fire, but it was too powerful. Soon, Mineta was reduced to ashes, before the teacher reacted.
The kids started to cry, and Izuku shook in horror, realizing he had just killed somebody, again. He couldn't feel or hear anything, lying on the ground as he stared at the spot where Mineta previously was.
