Chapter 35: Storming the Eye of the Midnight Sun's Hideout!
Later that night...
"What's the matter, Captain Nozel?" Rhiannon asked, overlooking the celebratory feast hall with Mereoleona.
"You're taking three days to start the operation." Nozel started. "You're being awfully cautious."
"Do you think I'm hesitating?" Mereoleona questioned.
"It appears I needn't worry." Nozel responded.
"Just as perceptive as ever." Rhiannon admitted. "I've set a trap to find out how much our enemy knows of our plans."
"Then, let's hear it." Mereoleona glared at her shadow. "Did you really think you can fool us with such a foolish spell?"
Nozel used a 'Silver Spear' to pin the fleeing shadow into place.
"You're not getting away." Mereoleona grinned, pulling out the spy with a flaming beast claw.
"Mereoleona-shishou, don't kill him." Rhiannon muttered.
In the celebratory feast hall...
"A spy from the Eye of the Midnight Sun?" Asta exclaimed, Mereoleona and Nozel showing the group the beaten up spy.
"Second place rookie." Mereoleona turned to Asta. "Apparently, he was following you. I questioned him without killing him, but apparently our enemy hasn't noticed any of our movements. Therefore, with Freyja-sama's permission, we will be moving up the operation start time. We strike the Eye of the Midnight Sun's hideout tomorrow morning. Make sure you all get plenty of rest tonight."
"It appears Freyja-sama intended all along to depart immediately as soon as the enemy spy was caught." Ben realized.
"So, if you want to fool your enemies, you must first fool your friends." Ruben was impressed. "That's our Goddess for you."
"But tomorrow morning?" Nils echoed.
"What a scary hime-sama." Zora chuckled.
The next morning...
"Stone Creation Magic: Stone Model of the World." Siren pulled out a 3-D stone model of the enemy base.
"It's like an ants' nest that allows entry from anywhere." Mereoleona instantly noticed the numerous entrances. "Seems simple enough to infiltrate. I see there are plenty of guys around Senior Knight level. There's someone with very powerful magic in the middle. Must be their boss. Listen up, all of you." she barked. "If we want to ambush the enemy and throw them into a state of chaos, we can't let them know how many of us there are, so splitting up is the best option. But the fact that there are many entrances means that the enemy is confident in their defense. The more we split up, the more that would work against us and overwhelm us. We will now split into five groups and proceed. You're coming with me, you damn problem children." she snatched up Asta and Zora. "Don't let me down. The rest of you should be proud to be chosen as Royal Knights and use your strengths to the fullest. I will now assign your positions. Group 1 will attack from the upper left. Group 2 will attack from the lower left. Group 3 will attack from the upper right. Group 4 will attack from the lower right. And we're going to attack front and center. The spatial magic user will stand by here. You'd better put your all into this. Let's go. I'm sure you don't need detailed plans." she reminded before letting everyone split off. "Take down any enemies you encounter as you proceed toward the center. You may do that however you prefer. I don't care what you do, as long as you don't lose."
