Escape The Fate - Remember Every Scar

Thursday, April 4, 2023

Lucy is stealthily moving through the streets in the shadows, trying to avoid streetlamps, following the soul she hears that wants to pull a woman into an alley and force himself on her. Lucy was relieved the day she got the hang of Cobra's soul-hearing ability. It used to give her such a big headache until she finally managed to learn how to flip it on and off like a light switch, as well as homing in on a singular soul.

She sneaks into an alley when the man looks around at his surroundings making sure no one else is near. Once he continues, she steps back onto the street. She's tried her best to settle down in this world the past two years, but she wasn't expecting it to be as fucked up as it is. She's crossed some lines she never thought she would cross. She pushes away the memory of her first and only (hopefully) kill. Never in her life did she think she would be able to take away someone's life, no matter how pissed off she was.

When the man decides to make his move, he grabs the woman and drags her into the closest alley. Lucy runs quickly pulling out her fleuve de-toiles and when she reaches the mouth of the alley she wastes no time activating it, sending it out to grab the man's wrist and yank him away from the woman.

"What the hell?" The man grunts and looks for the person who yanked him off of his victim. He narrows his eyes when he spots someone standing there in a cloak, hood up, holding a weird whip. "Who the fuck are you?"

"Your worst fucking nightmare," Lucy growls at the man.

The woman who was snatched takes the chance to run toward her savior and hide behind her. She looks at her savior's back and sees a weird symbol, blue in color, embroidered on her black with a blue trim cloak. She's heard stories of a woman who wears a cloak like this, going around saving people, more specifically women who get attacked at night. It's too bad she's an unregistered hero, she would make a great pro.

The man eyes the newcomer up and down when she takes off her cloak and hands it to the woman so she can cover up since he tore her shirt open. She has blonde hair, tied back in a low ponytail. She wears a white tank top, a rip at the collar exposing the top of her black sports bra. Fingerless gloves cover her hands with metal studs on the knuckles, black cargo pants, and laced-up combat boots. What he can't see is the hook on one side of her belt to house her whip and a brown pouch among other things attached to the other side.

"Bring it bitch."

Lucy, being a pro with a whip, sends it back out to wrap around his neck to pull him forward. She connects a Lucy-Kick with Taurus's strength right to his jaw, shattering it. The force of the kick sends him flying backward, crashing into a building. She sinks into the shadows, courtesy of Gajeel (technically Rogue since that's who Gajeel obtained the ability from). Before he can get himself out of the crater on the side of the building, Lucy appears in front of him, grabbing him by the collar, and hoisting him in the air.

"You were saying?" Lucy ducks when the guy attempts to punch her and a garbled "Fuck you," comes out of his mouth. It's hard to tell since she fucked up his jaw. She gives him a Lucy Gut Punch and drops him. Before he hits the ground she catches the sides of his head, quickly bringing her knee up to smash it into his face, now having busted his nose open, blood gushing out of it. The man crumples to the ground and Lucy crouches down to check his pulse to check if she killed him or not. Attacking using Taurus's strength can fuck someone up and she would much rather not add another person to the people she has killed list. She stands back up and takes notice of all the blood on her.

Three men in the building next door walk out to see just what the hell is going on, especially on their territory.

"Whatever is going on, the culprits better have a good excuse as to why they're causing all this ruckus, or else I'm going to kill them. We don't need attention drawn to us." Says a man who has a black mask on his face. He has a lean form, dressed in a button-up black dress shirt with a grey tie, black sacks, and sneakers.

"Calm down. We'll act according to the situation," a tall older man in a suit replies. He has gray chin-length hair and thick bushy gray eyebrows.

They walk out of the enclosed front yard, through the gates, and around the corner. When they reach the alley they stop when they see a blonde woman hugging a distraught one. There's a man ahead of them, attempting to get up but fails miserably.

"It's hard to tell but I think that's one of the newer recruits." A guy who is wearing a long white raincoat, with the hood down. His pale chin-length hair forms arrow-shaped needles. He too wears a mask, but his is white.

The man in the black mask walks forward, past the women, to get a better look, breaking out in hives from the sight of all the blood. He catches a glimpse of the cloak on the victim, recognizing the description of it. The blonde must be the one from the news reports. If she's here then. He growls, "Fucking bastard," and takes off his glove, places his hand on the ground to disassemble it and skewer the man. "I thought something was up with him." 'I may be a cold-hearted bastard at times but even I wouldn't cross that line.'

Thankfully the scared woman in Lucy's arms has her back turned from the gruesome act of murder Lucy just witnessed. She stares at the graphic sight while attempting to calm the woman down. "Shhh... It's okay." It would do no good if Lucy freaked out over the sight of the man dangling from the manipulated ground, blood dripping down from the wound in his abdomen. 'This must be the man Jiji talked about.' She looks at the old man and smiles. She stops using the soul-hearing since she knows they're safe with Jiji being there.

The old man sighs at the sight then turns his attention to the blonde. A gentle smile appears on his face. 'Lucy.'

The guy with the pale hair says, "We got to get them out of here, someone is surely going to come to find out what the commotion was all about."

The one with the black mask returns the ground to its original form, puts his glove back on, and then makes a phone call to have someone come out and clean the mess.

As Lucy stands with the woman, the old man realizes Lucy is trying to protect the woman's modesty with her cloak. He takes off his jacket and hands it to Lucy. "Here, she can have this."

Lucy takes the jacket from him and helps the woman into it without flashing everyone. Lucy then drapes her cloak over her arms. "Are you okay?"

The woman finishes buttoning the jacket, "Y-yeah, I will be. What happens now?"

The older man speaks, "I'll have one of my men escort you home."

Nervously she replies, "I don't need any help getting home. I live two more blocks from here."

Sensing the nervousness coming off of the woman Lucy assures her, "It's okay, Jiji will make sure no further harm comes to you."

The man with the black mask, not caring about the fact she's covered in dirt and blood, stalks toward her with a glare on his face. 'How dare she talk to the Obuyan like that.' She shows no fear as he gets closer, "What the hell did you call him? You will show him respect."

"Chisaki," Jiji warns. That kid really needs to get a handle on his emotions.

When the woman just smirks at him he growls, "What the hell are you smirking about? All I have to do is take off this glove-" He's shocked when she all of a sudden disappears looking as if she sunk into the ground. He turns around and sees her pop out of a shadow paying him no mind, putting her attention back on the woman.

Lucy pulls out a card from the inside pocket of her cloak and hands it to the woman, "Here take this."

The woman takes a glance at the card and then looks up at Lucy, "A support group and self-defense classes?"

"It'll help, trust me. Oh! I got something else." Lucy pulls something off of her belt and hands it to the woman.

The woman looks it over and then at Lucy, "This is illegal."

"It's only temporary. Give it to the woman whose name is on the card, she'll make sure I get it back."

The men that Chisaki had ordered to take care of the mess have finished and another man shows up, "I'll be escorting you miss."

The woman looks at Lucy one last time and Lucy nods. She's not worried about the man, Sato, escorting her home, he's a good man who is Jiji's friend as well as his driver. "I'll stop by and visit to see how you're doing."

The woman bows, "Thank you. All of you." Before she leaves the old man stops her.

"I'm sure it goes without saying, that my men and I had no part in this."

"Yes sir."

"Take care." Jiji turns his attention to Lucy. "What are doing with a taser? And why did you give it to her?"

"There's nothing wrong with a woman having extra protection."

"Hmmm... Well, since you're here, would you like to come in for a cup of tea?"

Lucy gives him a bright smile, "I would like that very much." The shirt sticking to her from blood drying up reminds her, "I'm kind of a mess though."

"You can clean up inside." The four make their way to the building the men came from. Lucy follows alongside the pale-haired man and the man with the black mask walks aside Jiji. "I suppose I ought to introduce you to these two hooligans. The man to the right of me is Kai Chisaki and the one next to you is Hari Kurono."

"I'm Lucy, It's nice to meet you Chisaki, Kurono."

"Last name?" Kurono asks.

"Heartfilia, but please feel free to call me Lucy. I don't care much for formalities."

Chisaki speaks up without bothering to cast a glance, "Don't you mean Celeste?" He's still irritated over her calling his boss an old geezer. Boss seems to know her though, when did they cross paths? Why hasn't he ever told him about her?

She looks around in awe at what she can see in the gardens. "This is beautiful." When they reach the front door Kurono steps ahead of them to hold it open for them. Lucy bows her head, "Thank you." Once all of them have taken their shoes off Jiji orders Chisaki to show her where she can wash up and to give her one of his shirts. "Then bring her to the office."

Chisaki grumbles but does as he's ordered with Lucy silently following behind him.

Jiji has given her a rundown on the Yakuza, The Shie Hassaikai. He couldn't hide it from her since she heard about it in his soul. She did a lot of research and couldn't help but compare their principles with Fairy Tail's.

Chisaki is waiting for questions that never come. He's surprised and curious. Did Boss tell her about the Yakuza? That doesn't seem right though, they keep to themselves. When they get to his room he orders her to stay right there while he goes in to grab a shirt for her. when he exits his room he hands her one of his older button-up dress shirts then directs her to the washroom. Why would Boss tell her about it? Questions continue to whirl around in his brain concerning the blonde woman. After what seems like forever, she finally gets cleaned up and is ready to head to the office with him. Despite still having some blood and dirt on her, she's a very attractive woman. He's not blind and he doesn't like the way his men are eyeing her, so he glares at them causing them to turn around and focus their attention elsewhere.

When they enter the office, Lucy takes the empty seat in front of Jiji's desk next to Kurono who is occupying the other. Chisaki takes his position to the right side of Jiji.

Chisaki and Kurono ask her a question at the same time. "How do you know Boss Heartfilia?" "Heartfilia, you're Celeste the Dark Slayer?"

Lucy chuckles, "You don't waste any time do you?" She looks at Kurono, "Yes, I am Celeste and please call me Lucy." She then directs her attention to Chisaki and now notices the hives that broke out on his face but pays no mind to it and gives him a soft smile, "To answer your question, Jiji here saved me."

Chisaki directs his next question to Boss, "What did you save her from and why do you allow her to call you Jiji?"

"She had just gotten beaten up by three men and when they threw her in the road Sato almost ran her over. The last thing she needed was me getting angry over her calling me an old geezer."

"My adoptive brother would call our grandfather Jiji and I eventually started to call him that as well. Your boss here reminds me of him."

"Where is your grandfather and brother Heartfilia?" Kurono asks.

"I'm serious, call me Lucy." She sighs. She hasn't talked about Fairy Tail since she met Jiji and Ms. Yamamoto two years ago. Damn, has it really been that long? Lucy's throat constricts and has to clear her throat to be able to answer, "They're not with me anymore."

"No one else?" Chisaki asks in an uncharacteristically soft tone.

Lucy closes her eyes and shakes her head, "Mom died from a sickness when I was ten. Dad died when I was seventeen. We weren't on the best of terms. When I was sixteen he wanted to marry me off to a forty-year-old man to further his business. I ran away and that's when I met my adoptive Grandfather and Brother and everyone else I called family. By the time I was ready to make amends with my father, I was too late. I had found out that the month before I wanted to make amends that he had passed away due to a sickness. Not like my mother's though, something different."

"Walking out on your father like that puts shame on the family, but it's obvious you're not from here..."

Chisaki asks, "He didn't send anyone after you?"

"Nope, not until a year later. He figured he would let me spend a year getting everything I wanted to do out of my system before forcing me to come home. My mother never would have approved of the arranged marriage had she been alive."

Jiji was going to put a stop to the questions but if they don't get answered now, Chisaki will bombard him with them later.

"I'm guessing you didn't go quietly." Chisaki safely assumes.

"Nope. Not only did I not want to be forced into a marriage, but I wanted to see the world, and go on adventures."

"How long ago was this?" Kurono asks.

Lucy takes a moment to think about it and decides it's in her best interest to not include the seven-year time gap. "Hm, it was about six years ago when I ran away."

"I wish I could say marrying off a girl at the age of sixteen isn't normal, but that's something that still happens here. More so arranged marriages."

Lucy nods her head and hums in agreement. She's heard about that.

"Where is everyone else that you call family?" Chisaki asks.

"I-I" Lucy has to stop the tears from welling up. "Two years ago, I had just gotten back from a job only to find them gone without a trace." It's not exactly what happened but she can't risk anyone else knowing the whole true story. Only Jiji and Ms. Yamamoto know. Lucy grabs a tissue out of the box on the desk and dabs the tears off of her face, "my apologies."

"It's not something she likes to talk about," Jiji cuts in. He points in the direction of the garbage can when she silently asks where it's at.

Now that they're in better lighting and his back isn't to her, Chisaki takes the time to get a better look at her which catches both Lucy's and Kurono's attention. He questions his friend silently when they make eye contact and Chisaki looks away. In the corner of his eye, he watches Lucy give Chisaki a look over.

Chisaki takes notice of her cloak that is draped on the chair and asks, "What is that symbol on your cloak?" He takes note of the sad and also happy look that appears on her face.

Jiji, knowing the truth, butts in, "How about we leave her be and stop with the questions?"

Lucy smiles gently at the old man, "It's okay. That's the symbol of the family I was a part of."

"Some hero agencies consider the members their family. Is that what your family was, a hero agency?"

Lucy lets out a chuckle, "I wouldn't exactly call Fairy Tail a hero agency. They went by their own rules."

"Like the yakuza in a sense," Jiji adds. He knows his men are surprised by the fact he brought that up. "Don't worry, we can trust her."

The men nod at him and then Chisaki states, "Fairy Tale? As in kid's stories? That's weird."

"No, T-A-I-L. The founder always wondered if fairies have tails. More than that, do fairies even exist? Nobody knows for sure. It's an eternal mystery and an eternal adventure." Lucy laughs, "It does sound like a kid's story." She laughs even harder at the expressions on Chisaki's and Kurono's faces.

"That's... weird..."

"Uh..."

Jiji laughs along with her. He had the same reaction when she told him that.

It's been a while since she's laughed like this. She wipes the tears from her eyes. "We were a bunch of weirdos. More than that we were one big team. One big family. No one was better than the other. Sure, some were stronger physically, but some were smarter. We all made up for each other's weaknesses."

"Have you tried to work at any agencies around here?" Chisaki asks, wondering if she's infected with hero syndrome. Being a vigilante, one could say she is, but considering who she sets out to save and protect he can't help but contradict how he feels by telling himself that, that is different.

Lucy shakes her head no, "After I lost my family, I came here to start a new life and it hasn't exactly gone as I thought it would. It didn't take me long to figure out things work completely different than back home so I never bothered to try."

"What do you mean it works differently?"

"I don't need a hero license where I'm from."

"Why not move elsewhere?"

"Because it's beautiful here."

The Boss smiles, "That it is."

"You know, you promised tea Jiji."

"That I did." He stands up and Lucy offers to help. "Nonsense, you're a guest here."

"So, what's your quirk?" Chisaki is really curious as to what she did when she disappeared in front of him. It was like she became one with the shadows. Once again his assumption is proven correct.

"I can turn into a shadow and move as one. It also makes it easier to hide in the shadows." It was a tough decision, deciding on what should be her "quirk" out of the numerous ones she could have chosen. In the end, that's the one she chose, for good reason.

"You don't have super strength? You did quite a number on that guy."

'Well, shit.' "I was taught how to fight when I was seventeen. I've grown to enjoy it, it's a great stress reliever."

"Better not let Rappa find out, he'll be bugging you to fight him."

Lucy laughs and cries at the same time, "S-sounds like a friend of mine. He was the most excited when we heard about a new fighting competition."

If Lucy was still listening to their souls she would have heard from Chisaki's soul: 'Despite the dirt on her, she is beautiful.' 'Damn, she's alone. No wonder Jiji helped her.' 'Did a villain kill her comrades? Why was she the lone survivor?' 'A beautiful woman that loves to fight?' 'Who is this man she's talking about? A past lover?' That last thought irks him to no end.

Unbeknownst to Chisaki, Kurono has caught the looks he has been giving Lucy. Only if you know the man can you see the interest lying beneath. Interesting.

Chisaki's attention has perked up at this. "Was there a payout at these competitions?"

"Oh yeah. The winning agency would get a nice chunk of change."

"Did you participate?"

"Yes, why do you think a woman shouldn't?"

"No, most women wouldn't."

"Well, I'm not most women. And if I'm being honest, I've missed a good fight."

"What?"

The Boss replies as he sets down the tea tray, "It's not every day you meet a pretty woman who enjoys fighting for fun."

"How would the fights end?"

Lucy grabs a cup of tea and takes a sip before answering, "Until time ran out or the opponent was knocked out." Lucy chuckles, "Fairy Tail would fight each other for fun, even take bets on who would win." She takes another sip. "Mmm, this is good."

"Was it a fighting ring?"

"I guess you could say that."

"Would other agencies take part in the fighting, outside of the competition?" Kurono asks.

"Oh yeah, they would stop by out of the blue, sometimes to pick a fight."

"They'd come into your agency and pick a fight?" Chisaki is outraged at that thought.

Lucy shrugs her shoulders, "Yeah."

"That's disrespectful. Encroaching on someone else's territory just to fight,"

"I know it would be here, but there, as long as it was a welcome challenge and not out to kill it was fine."

Chisaki ponders something and then decides to come out with it, "We have something like that if you're interested."

"Chisaki..." Jiji warns.

"What?" Chisaki doesn't see what the big deal is.

"I may take you up on that." Lucy sets down the cup and claps her hands on her thighs, "Well, I best get going."

"Would you like someone to take you home?" Jiji asks.

"No, that's quite all right, but thank you."

"Where do you live?" Chisaki asks.

"A few blocks away, above the izakaya Sushi Serenity."

"Ah yes, the Tanaka's business. They're a nice couple." Kurono states.

"They are. They didn't hesitate to take me in when I was searching for a place. It helped though that they have a good relationship with Jiji. They even gave me a job there."

"We all look after one another in these parts," Chisaki says.

Lucy sighs in remembrance, "An individual's happiness is everyone's happiness. An individual's wrath is everyone's wrath. An individual's tears are everyone's tears."

Kurono smiles, "That's a good way to put it."

"Mmmhmm… Well, thanks again! I'm sure, it goes without saying, that you will tell the men who saw me tonight I was never here?"

"It does."

"Chisaki, walk Lucy to the door."

"Yes sir."

Lucy thanks him when they walk down the hall. "Thank you Chisaki."

"When The Boss orders you to do something, you do it."

"Hmmm… You're very loyal to him."

"Of course, I am. I owe him a lot."

When they leave the room The Boss turns to Kurono, "Was I seeing things?"

"No, you weren't. I saw it too and I must say I'm interested too," Kurono quickly adds, "not in the way Chisaki is! I swear, she's just different."

"That she is. Trust me."

"You do know this is the first time he's taken an interest in a woman in a long time right?"

The Boss gapes at him, "What?"

"It's true, he's tried to date but never even kissed because the thought of them being impure caused his anxiety to spike."

"She would be good for him if he gives her the chance." A good woman is exactly what Chisaki needs in his life.

"And if she gives him a chance."

"Trust me Kurono, I saw the interest is there." He didn't miss the glances she took at the man he considers his son.

Their conversation is over just in time when Chisaki stops by the office and tells them he's going to bed.

Chisaki goes to bed thinking about Lucy, aka Celeste The Dark Slayer. Normally he looks down on those who use their abilities for heroic acts, however, he just can't bring himself to look down on her. Is it because of the people she sets out to save? Is it because Boss has respect for her? He wonders why Boss never told him about her. He realizes she wasn't nosy because Boss had told her about the Yakuza. Why would he do that?

He wonders what she must look like during the day when she's Lucy, not Celeste. Does she still dress badass and rugged? Or is she completely different? She's polite and respectful. Looking past the dirt, blood, and scars on her body, she's beautiful. He wonders what exactly she went through. Who put those scars there? Is there more on her body? Maybe a past lover? The thought of another man touching her pisses him off.

Why is he so enamored by her? If he thought love at first sight was a thing he would swear that's what happened tonight because he just can't stop thinking about her. He wonders, what it would be like being intimate with someone. More specifically her.

What would she think if she found out that he's 26 and has never been intimate with anyone? Even though it wasn't on his to-do (no pun intended) list, and he's had a one-track mind and that's been about Obuyan and the Yakuza, he has tried to date. However, the thought of being with a woman intimately made him cringe. He can't stand the thought of uncleanliness and he didn't want to take the chance of being with a woman who could be contaminated with something. Sure, they could say they're clean, but they also could be lying. But why is he not thinking like that about Lucy?

He thinks about seeing her again. He knows where she works and lives now. Would it be creepy if he all of a sudden showed up where she works?

He saw the looks on Kurono and the old man and he could feel it in his bones they were plotting something. But he'll go along with it, he's intrigued and wants to learn more about her, which is unlike him, being the anti-social person, he is.

He does something he hasn't done in a long time with thoughts of Lucy on his mind.

Lucy finds her way back to the entrance with Chisaki in tow, puts on her boots, and cloak, and heads out onto the street after giving him one last farewell. She homes in on souls once again to keep an ear out for trouble. Even though she has Gemini she sometimes wishes she could clone more of herself, there's so many crimes that happen, and somehow not enough heroes. Once she knows she's in the clear, she slips through the shadows and gets home that way making it quicker.

When she's inside and the door is locked she hangs her cloak up, takes off her boots and heads to the bathroom to take a hot relaxing shower. Before taking Chisaki's shirt off she pulls it up to her nose to smell it. She had to hold back from doing so while at the compound. She can smell the cotton fresh detergent along with sandalwood and something else she can't place. After the rest of her night routine, she lies down in bed. '3:30. I can't keep doing this.' She's made a name for herself and now women and children have the hope they never had before. A lot of calls had never been answered before Lucy started answering them. (note: in this, the children suffer from physical, emotional, and mental abuse. I will not go into detail).

She then thinks about the two men she met. Kurono seems nice and she already heard a lot about Chisaki. She knew about the Yakuza Clan, Jiji 'voluntarily' gave her that information, but she had already heard it in his soul. She doesn't have any problem with it and can understand them wanting to be careful because of the government. Fairy Tail had to watch their asses from the Magic Council. Just like Fairy Tail, they do a lot more for their country than the government. Sure, there may be heroes but a lot of them don't take the time to help those in need. It's the little things that count. She just might take Chisaki up on his offer to fight in the ring.

Her mind drifts to Chisaki. Shaggy auburn hair parted to the right, three beaded piercings in his left ear. Thin eyes, irises small and gold with long lower eyelashes and small eyebrows. A nice narrow, lithe build covered up by a black dress shirt and matching dress pants. A pale gray tie around his neck, and a belt with a long, thin buckle around his waist. One would expect he would be wearing dress shoes but instead, he had on white lace-up sneakers with tan soles and no socks.

She'll admit Chisaki is pretty damn good-looking in person. Jiji had once shown her a picture of him without a mask and he looks even better when he looks happy. Yeah, she checked him out and got a good long look. He also wore surgical gloves and a black mask. Some may find it weird that you can only see the upper half of his face. But Lucy, having been friends with Bickslow, a guy who wore a helmet and all you could see was the lower half of his face, is not weirded out by it.

The last thing on her mind is what she accidentally caught in Chisaki's soul and can't help herself either.

Wednesday, April 10th, 2023

It's been almost a week since Chisaki last saw her. Not that he's been actively searching for her, but since they live in the same area one would think they would run into each other at some point. Then again, he doesn't exactly go out in public often. A shiver goes down his spine thinking about all the people that are going to be out and about. The lengths he's willing to go to for this woman. 'I probably have when I do decide to leave the compound but never knew it. Would I even be able to recognize her doing the day?'

That night her hair was pulled back in a ponytail, her white tank showed a good amount of cleavage even with the black sports bra underneath, and due to it being short, it showed off her toned abdomen. It was paired with black baggy cargo pants, a brown utility belt to hold them up, and a hook on it that he saw her put her whip on. Her feet were covered by laced-up combat boots. She had such a fierce look in her eye while she fought the bastard. He would have loved nothing more to continue to watch her fight, but they didn't need the authorities showing up. Let's not forget the sight of her in his shirt, her large bosom making it difficult to do up all the buttons also showing a generous amount of cleavage.

He offered to go to the market to get what was needed to get a bit of fresh air. 'Ha! Don't lie to yourself. You're hoping to run into her.' So here he is, walking down the street, trying his best to avoid what people he can when all of a sudden his arm is grabbed.

"Hey Chisaki, where have you been?" A tall slender woman greets.

Chisaki groans when he realizes who it is, "Get off of me Kumagai." He tries to pull away, but her grip tightens. She knows what happens when people invade his personal bubble and she's probably using being out in public to her advantage.

She rubs her chest against his arm and pouts, "Aw, don't be like that."

"Get off," he grits through his teeth. His anxiety is spiking and he's doing his best to not lash out where there are people everywhere. This woman has been hounding him for years and just won't take the hint, no matter how many times he tells her he's not interested. Just when he's about to tell her off, he hears that beautiful voice.

"Chisaki!" Lucy yells. She was on her way to the market when she saw him try to shake a woman off of him. The past week she could hear him searching for her. She wasn't trying to be nosy, but he had her curious. She saw him come to her work, cringe when he saw all of the people, and then leave.

He looks in the direction the voice came from and if he didn't have the mask on then everyone would be able to see his jaw drop. This is not the woman he met, the woman he met was a beautiful warrior, ready for battle. This woman looks so sweet and innocent.

Part of her hair is up, held by a blue ribbon, bangs that curve to the left, and loose hair framing her face. She has the same big brown eyes but with a much softer look to them. He noticed that she was buxom and had a curvaceous body, but it was different seeing it like this. She's dressed in a kimono-style white top with blue trimmings down the middle. Sleeves on her arms that don't connect to the top. A gold sash around her waist and a blue skirt that reaches mid-thigh showing off her long creamy legs and sandals on her feet. The difference is night and day. "H-hey," Fuck, when did he stutter. He coughs to clear his throat. "Hey, Lucy."

She looks at the woman and then back to him, "Is this a bad time?" The woman is tall, fit, and slim. Maybe an inch taller than her. She has dark brown hair that falls loosely to her shoulders and brown eyes. She has curves but nothing like Lucy's and what she would guess is a C-cup chest size. She's pretty, Lucy will give her that even with the whole biker chick thing going on.

The woman glowers at her, "Excuse me, Lucy, we were talking privately." Chisaki attempts to pull away from the woman, but her grip gets tighter.

Lucy points at the woman, "First of all it's Heartfilia to you. Second of all, he doesn't seem to be all that comfortable with you hanging on him like that."

The woman lets go of Chisaki to step into Lucy's face, "And what do you know you blonde bimbo."

Lucy scoffs, "You're going to have to do better than that. Also, I know enough that he doesn't want your pillock ass all over him."

The woman gapes at Lucy, "I don't know what you just said but-"

"Listen, we're already causing a big enough scene, now how about you walk away before I kick your ass."

And that is Chisaki's cue to grab Lucy's wrist and drag her away. Lucy could easily kick her ass but she's right, they need to walk away. Once they're out of earshot, he says, "You didn't have to do that you know. I would have been able to shake her off. And what exactly is a pillock?"

Lucys laughs, "A very stupid or foolish person."

Chisaki smiles behind his mask and lets go of her wrist, "That she is." While they walk side by side, his arm brushes against her. 'Huh, no reaction to their close proximity.'

"Do you know her?" She questions.

"Unfortunately, yes."

"Old girlfriend?"

"Hell no." He doesn't want to tell her how they know each other so he changes the topic, "So, what are you up to?" His statement causes her to laugh again.

"Oh! I was headed to the market to grab a few things. How about you?"

"The same thing. Would you like to go together?"

"Sure!" Lucy waves him over to an alley, "But let's go here first."

"May I ask why you're trying to lure me away?" He follows her anyway.

When they're out of view Lucy says, "I have something that'll help you, in case it's bothering you."

He doesn't need her to specify what she means by that. He knows what she's referring to and for once that someone isn't rude about it. "Uh, okay…" He receives a smile from her and watches as she digs through her bag and pulls out what she's looking for which looks to be cream for his breakout.

She puts a little dab on her finger, steps closer to him, and she notices he's shaking, "Are you alright?"

Chisaki takes in a deep breath, "Yeah," he breathes out.

"If you're sure," She gently rubs the cream on the visible areas.

Chisaki manages to calm his nerves, it's not even from his personal space being invaded. It's from her being so close, her chest brushing against his. "Why do you have this on your person?"

"Bugs seem to enjoy biting me."

"Mmm…" The simple touch of her taking care of him relaxes him and he closes his eyes, enjoying the treatment. 'She smells so nice.'

Lucy steps back from him, putting the cream back in her bag. "There, is that better?"

"Yeah," his eyes open back up and gaze into hers, "Thanks. It'll help for now."

"Good." When they walk back out on the street she asks, "How's everyone doing?"

"They're doing good. I got to say, you're different than I thought you would be."

Lucy cocks her head to the side, "what do you mean?"

"Well last time I saw you, you were this badass chick. Right now, well, it's hard to believe that woman from that night is you."

"Is that good or bad?"

"It's nice." Even though there are not many people around he keeps his voice low, "That was one of our men you took down in our territory.

Lucy stops and bows, "I apologize. I didn't know." It's a lie, she knows and plans on confronting Jiji about it. Noticing there are more people Lucy changes direction blurting the first thing that comes to mind, "I would love to get a cup of coffee with you sometime!"

Nice change of subject but she just saved him from asking her to do something together. "You know, there's only a select few I'll go into public with." He smiles when he sees the blush. 'Cute.'

"Well, aren't I special?"

He leans into her space to whisper in her ear, "You are." There's that blush again. They remain quiet as they do their shopping. Once done they head out, Chisaki being thankful they're getting out of there before the streets get crowded. The few people there are bothersome enough. "So, where to now?"

"Home to drop this off, then to the library."

"The library?" He didn't know there were still people that hung out there.

"Yeah. If I'm not working that's one of the places you can find me."

"Where else can I find you?"

Lucy blushes. 'Dammit, why did I make it a rule to not listen to souls during the day when she feels she's not in any danger?' "Are you saying you want to know where to find me?"

Chisaki shrugs his shoulders, "Maybe."

"Hmmm… well I like to go to the park, the one near your place actually. If I'm not reading I'm playing shogi with the elders."

His head turns abruptly to face her, "You're the friend that gives Boss a run for his money?"

Lucy rubs the back of her head, "Uh yeah? I suppose..."

Smirking behind his mask Chisaki says, "Then when we get our coffee together I'd like to challenge you."

"What?"

"You did say in the store that you would love to get a cup of coffee with me."

"Oh, right um when is a good time for you?"

"Friday at 11 all right?"

Lucy smiles, "Perfect." She sees in his eyes the smile he's giving her.

"Are you okay with coming to my place? I can't-"

"I understand and that's fine with me."

They stop at the restaurant, Sushi Serenity that Lucy lives above, and Chisaki wonders where the time went. "Hand me your phone" That came out more gruff than he intended.

Lucy digs it out of her bag and when she finds it, she hands it over to him. He puts in his information and then sends a text to himself.

"In case for any reason you can't make it." He hands it back to her, "Oh, and text what you want before you leave, I'll be sending one of my men out to get it."

"All right, I'll see you then. Bye, Chisaki!"

"Bye, Lucy." He shoves his hands in his pockets when he walks away. When was the last time he was on a date?

Later that night Lucy is out on the streets keeping an eye and ear out for villains. She's distracted by the thought of her date so when the time comes to fight off a man she's left bruised and bloody. Unfortunately, that man became the second person she's killed. All she wanted to do was subdue him then it came down to kill or be killed. Instead of going home, she goes to the place she stayed when she first landed on Earth.

"Hey, Ms. Yamamoto."

Friday April 12th, 2023

While she's in the shower, Lucy thinks about the night before. She went to a friend she made who is also the counselor to whom she sends the women she saves, Yo Fukuzawa. She's a pretty woman, slim and on the short side standing at 5'5. She was a victim of sexual assault at knifepoint that left her with scars both mentally and physically, a scar going from her left ear down to her chin. It took her a long time to cope and accept what had happened to her. She leads the meetings that are held at the women's shelter and is the only one outside of two, well now four, people who know she's Celeste. Lucy talked to her about killing another man, she knew it was a possibility, but it didn't mean she liked it.

Yo convinces her to go to the meeting that just so happened to be that night. The women who were attacked before Lucy arrived on Earth have stated that they wished Celeste could have been there for them, but they're happy to know that there is someone out there looking out for other women as well as children. They talk about the two men that Celeste had killed and even though they know killing is wrong, they're glad to know that there's one less man like that roaming the streets.

It did make Lucy feel a bit better hearing that. However, she's not sure how much longer she can do this. She's killed two men and that's two too many, she's exhausted, and her body has been screaming for rest. She's tired from the long days at work and going about her days as a regular citizen to spending her nights traveling through the country listening for souls in dire need of help.

The first person she saved was gagged and couldn't scream to get anyone's attention. Had Lucy not been in that area and listening in on souls… Thankfully she was close and was able to get to the woman on time. After that night she began listening for those kinds of souls and she was appalled by how common that kind of crime is. So, she set out to eradicate those monsters.

She had told her victims that her name was Celeste, but it was them that tacked on The Dark Slayer because she slays the monsters that attack in the dark. The heroes have tried their best to find her since being a vigilante is illegal and just as bad as being a villain. She finds it ironic that her actions, minus the killing, would make her a hero back on Earthland.

As she gets ready for her coffee date with Chisaki, she summons Cancer. Very rarely can she summon her spirits, so she uses any opportunity to do just that, which is mainly when she's home. Jiji warned her it wouldn't be a good idea to have witnesses seeing her summon creatures to do her bidding. She corrected him on his wording. They're her friends, not creatures, and they don't do her bidding, they fight together side by side. Ms. Yamamoto told her the same thing, it would be too risky for her to summon them in public because it would draw too much attention to the really nasty villains out there.

"A good job as always Cancer." Lucy envelops him in a big hug.

Cancer returns it and holds her tightly against him. "Thank you, Ebi."

"Give everyone my love." Lucy steps back and releases him.

"I will Ebi. We want you to know that we think it's about time you've stopped wearing yourself down fighting villains and start trying to live a normal life."

"I can't just ignore the calls for help knowing I can do something about it."

"We understand but you're slowly killing yourself. Just think about at least slowing down and not roaming the streets every night, you need to start looking after yourself, and make some friends." Cancer usually doesn't say much but when he does, he's serious and his friend knows that.

"I know, it's just that… I didn't want to get close to anyone to then lose them when Fairy Tail or myself found a way for me to return to Earthland. It would be hard enough to say goodbye to Jiji and Ms. Yamamoto."

"Well, spending the day with this man is a good start. We're still not sure how to feel about him yet, but you do what feels right."

"I will." Lucy watches Cancer leave and sighs. She's honestly surprised that her spirits haven't broken their contracts and left her, especially after what she's done.

They told her that they promised to always be by her side and help her in any way they can and that includes in this new world. They've never judged her or looked at her differently. They've had masters who killed before the difference being is they killed innocents and the ones that Lucy killed, well they're sure even Stache Face himself wouldn't hold it against her.

Lucy grabs her purse and locks her door when she leaves to set off to the compound. She doesn't mind that he would much rather meet up there rather than somewhere in public. Plus, she'll be able to see Jiji in his environment. He has never allowed her to visit him there because he would rather her not get caught up in what they do. It must be different now that some of his men know about her and one of them happens to be close to him. That someone being the one she's having a coffee date with. She hasn't been on a date in years, and this will be the first one she doesn't have to worry about anyone scaring them off. So many little things make her think of Fairy Tail. She wonders how they're doing if they've given up and moved on. Who is she kidding? Even if they have moved on with their lives, it doesn't mean they've given up. They don't know the meaning of giving up.

Cancer's words come to mind, and she decides she should do the same. Maybe it is about time to slow down and live a normal life. Well, as normal as it can be in this world. She texts Chisaki what kind of coffee she would like on her way.

Lucy walks up to the gate to the compound and presses the doorbell. She looks at the time and realizes she's a little early. Two men, trying to seem intimidating, walk up to the gate. If they only knew who she has had to go up against since she was seventeen. They're small fry compared to that. Then again, she shouldn't assume that since they could have some crazy ass quirk.

"Hello!" Lucy greets. "I'm here to see Chisaki."

One of the men looks her up and down. He gives her a creepy smirk, "Well, aren't you a nice piece of ass."

The other guy elbows him in the rib cage, "Dude, don't let Chisaki hear you say that."

The gate opens and Lucy keeps her distance from the man, especially after his next remark.

"Pfft, what's he going to do? He won't use his quirk right here in broad daylight. Damn woman you got a nice set of tits on you."

Jiji had told her bout Chisaki's quirk before and she had seen it in action a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, it terrifies her a little, but she doesn't let it deter her from coming. If Jiji thought he was a danger to her, she wouldn't be there. If this guy keeps running his mouth, however, she'll be a danger to him. In her peripherals she notices someone storming out of the building. It's Chisaki and he looks like he's ready to murder someone. He must have heard the exchange. She wonders how and looks at the doorbell. She realizes it's an intercom. Ohhh shit.

"I may not use my quirk out in the open, I can however send you into the ring tonight with Rappa. He's been itching to fight. Now, go."

Lucy laughs as they scurry away. She gets a good look at Chisaki and likes what she sees. He's in his usual attire but with a blazer over the dress shirt. "I feel underdressed."

"You look great." And she does too. While he also thinks she has a nice ass, those leggings hugging it, making it more pronounced, as well as a nice set of tits covered by an unbuttoned cardigan with a tank top underneath showing off a bit of cleavage, he's not about to voice it. She's more than that from what he's learned so far. Smart, beautiful, honest, sincere. He waves her to follow him and they walk side by side to the area with a table and chairs.

Lucy looks around, "This garden is even more beautiful during the day."

He gives her a small smile behind the mask and almost says something cheesy like 'so are you.' Instead, it's a simple "it is" that passes through his lips. He holds out a chair for her and says, "Our coffee will be here in a little bit. How about until then we play Shogi." He takes his seat and opens a briefcase on the table that holds the gameboard and pieces.

"Ah, you want to get me kicking your ass out of the way now." She gets a "pfft" in response.

As he sets it up, the man he sent shows up and hands them their beverages. They play in silence other than the sounds of them drinking their hot coffee and Lucy's hums in thought. Chisaki can now see why his boss has a hard time playing against her. She has a very tactical mind and thinks things out thoroughly before making a move.

Lucy has been watching Chisaki closely as he thinks about the next move he's going to make. He remains calm every time Lucy backs him into a corner and holds back his frustration. When it's her turn she sets her empty cup to the side and makes her final move.

"What the hell."

"You know, you shouldn't sacrifice your pawns so much. If utilized correctly they can be a great asset."

"Hmmm…." Chisaki puts away the game and thinks about what she said. Is that not what pawns are for? "What if they're weak?"

"Even the weakest can be a great asset. Look at myself for example. The team I worked with, I was the weakest."

"I find that hard to believe."

"It's true but they also had an advantage over me. They had been training since they were children to become the people they were. I didn't get to do that until later on."

"You must be lonely, not having your friends and family around."

Lucy shrugs, "I have Jiji, Ms. Yamamoto, the Tanaka's, and a friend who works at the women's shelter."

He reaches out to grab her hand, then stops, and brings his hand back. "You have another friend right here. Fuck that sounded cheesy."

Lucy giggles behind her hand. "Only a little bit."

"Did The Boss tell you anything about me?"

"A little bit."

"And?"

"You have your issues, but you're a good man and he's proud of you."

Chisaki scoffs, "Issues, that's putting it nicely." He waits for her to say something and when she doesn't he continues, "I have what's known as mysophobia. It's a uh fear of germs. The sight of dirt and blood really bothers me."

"Everyone has their phobias."

"I also don't like people in my personal space."

"But, you've had no problem being close to me."

"I'm just as surprised as you are. Usually, my anxiety gets the better of me and I lash out."

"I'm happy to hear you're comfortable around me."

Chisaki hums in agreement.

They spend a couple of hours conversing before it's time for Lucy to go since she has work. He wonders if she'll be offended if he gets her a mask to wear when around him. When it's time for her to go, Chisaki walks her to the gate, "I had a really good time."

"I did too. I'll see you around Chisaki."

"Bye, Lucy." He watches Lucy walk down the street and when she turns the corner he heads back into the building on a search for Rappa, his newest recruit. Rappa has a lot of respect for him, so if he tells the brawler that he'll be in the ring with a man who disrespected his girlfriend, well that man may not make it out of there alive. They may not have made it official but as far as he's concerned, she's his.

Friday April 21, 2023

Chisaki is in the middle of a meeting with The Boss and his men. His right-hand man Kurono is with him. There's talk of another sex-trafficking ring rising. The Boss and his men talk about bringing in the person that helped him last time. He recalls an informant updating them on the situation but never met the person himself. Because of that, they were able to put a stop to it. It might have been too late for some women and children, but they were at least able to save the ones they found.

He thinks about Lucy and wishes he could have seen her since their date but both of them have been busy with their own stuff, which he doesn't mind. In fact, he's glad she's not the clingy type. They have texted back and forth quite a bit though. Once this meeting is over he plans on asking her to spend tomorrow with him until she has to go to work.

The meeting is interrupted when a loud crash and bang is heard. They all run out of the room and down to where the noise came from. There's a couple of men yelling at someone.

"Who the hell do you think you are?"

"What did you do to our men bitch?"

Chisaki and the others push their way through. The one responsible for all of the noise is Lucy. "What's going on?" She picks up two beaten-up men he didn't see on the ground next to her and throws them with inhuman strength into the two that yelled at her.

"I believe these belong to you." Lucy wipes her hands clean.

Jiji steps up, "Lucy, what is this all about? Why did you beat them up?"

As the two men that yelled at her try to push the unconscious men off of them, they pale when they realize they just yelled at the girl Chisaki claimed. That man needs to pass around her photo so no one else ends up like the guy that Rappa beat to death. Others recognize her as Celeste.

"You know exactly why. As much as I would love to be the one to finish the job, I figured you would like to be the one to punish them. Good night."

Chisaki runs after her, "Lucy, wait." When she slips into the shadows he yells, "Fuck!" He turns on his heel and goes up to the men that Lucy had delivered to them. He takes off his gloves and puts a hand on each guy's face disassembling them. Blood splatters all over him, the walls, floors, and the men that were close by. He picks up his gloves and then walks in the direction of his room ignoring those calling for him. He doesn't feel any guilt for what he just did. Okay, he feels guilty for the mess he made. He should have done that elsewhere, but he couldn't control his rage. Two more men in the Yakuza discovered hurting women, and Lucy left before he could ask her anything. What must she think of the Yakuza if assholes like that are members?

As he showers to gid rid of the filth on him he punches the wall, "FUCK!"

Push through

Despite all you've been through

You will carry on

We will carry on

Phew that was a long chapter. I can't guarantee all of them will be this lengthy. Lucy being able to use her guildmate's abilities will be explained later on. There's a good possibility that there will be chapters with multiple months rolled into them.

Izakaya - an informal Japanese bar that serves alcoholic drinks and snacks.
