Author's Note: I know I said you'll have to wait, but here I am. I've been trying to rack my brain for an idea and have come up with practically nothing short enough to implement in a one-shot; However, I feel like writing so I'll spout some nonsense. Enjoy❤️
I think I'm going to write about our lovebirds having an argument or something. I want Lu Si Cheng to make it up to Tong Yao and really show that the cold dude loves her. You know what I mean?
Oh! Okay so y'all remember the scene where Lu Si Cheng kisses her suddenly in the arena. I want Tong Yao to be a little upset that he didn't ask her before revealing to the public about their relationship. This should be set right after their car ride back to the base once they talk to Lu Si Cheng's mother.
Tong Yao POV:
I stormed into the base, unaware of the team staring at me with their eyes as big as saucers. I was angry, angry at Lu Si Cheng. He did not tell me we were revealing our relationship to the public and that too, like this? A warning would've been nice. Lu Si Cheng had chased after me with Xiao Rui thanking the driver and also rushing in.
"Tong Yao listen to me," He pleaded.
"About what? Couldn't you have at least told me? You can't do everything based off what you want. Have you forgotten a relationship takes two to tangle?" I whirled around to face him.
Our team stood by the computers, their eyes bouncing back and forth as if they were watching an intense tennis match. They probably were ready to tease us and held back seeing the unexpected situation.
"I know, but you saw all the rumors we couldn't have hid it any longer!" He yelled frustrated.
"I didn't say to hide it. You know we're both public figures. There's a way to go about things and this wasn't it." I stared at him, daring him to disagree.
He sighed.
"Let's cool down. Tong Yao, listen." He grabbed both my hands in his. "We can't change what happened now, don't be upset over it."
I shook my hands away from his grip before replying, "So you think I'm overreacting?" He opened his mouth to reply, but I cut him off.
"I think I need to leave." I walked out of the base leaving everyone staring dumbfounded.
Lu Si Cheng POV:
I don't understand. Isn't this what Tong Yao wanted? She hated Jian Yang for hiding their relationship, but now she's upset I revealed it. I was utterly confused.
"Cheng-ge," Fatty called out hesitantly.
I just realized my teammates were on the side. They had watched the whole thing and were clearly unsure what to do. I was a leader; I had to fix the situation.
"She'll be fine. She just went to cool off." I wasn't sure if I was reassuring them or myself.
"Brother that was a bold move. I can't believe you suddenly sprung that on her," Lu Yue said.
"Should I not have? The public was going to force it out one way or another. I just took control of the situation." I crossed my arms.
"Did you tell her?" God Ming asked.
"Tell her what?"
"Tell her you were going to do that."
"Not really."
Lao K sighed before adding, "Captain I don't know why you two were hiding it in the first place, but the decision to hide the relationship was made by both of you and the reveal also should've been done by both of you."
I pondered for a moment. Tong Yao was afraid I'd lose fans; we discussed this already. I knew she was the only female e-sports player and by being in a relationship it would give the fans more reason to attack her. They'd question her capability despite seeing her play already, simply because our relationship was the new gossip. I realized I put Tong Yao in the line of fire without giving her any weapons to defend herself. Maybe I was wrong.
"Oh."
"Do you understand now? She's just a girl, you have to deal with the situation gently," Xiao Pang said.
For the first time, I had acted without thinking of the consequences. For someone who was always reminding the team that actions have consequences, I failed to follow my own advice.
"I think I may have screwed up," I sighed.
"You think? Captain you definitely did," Lao Mao replied.
"You should fix this Cheng-ge. We still need our mid don't drive her away!" Xiao Rui exclaimed.
"How?"
"I know!" Xiao Pang huddled us all together and we discussed a plan to cheer Tong Yao up.
Tong Yao POV:
I knocked at Jin Yang's door fuming with anger. I know Lu Si Cheng meant well, but he couldn't do everything on his own.
"Tong Yao?" Jin Yang was smiling, but instantly frowned at my upset attitude.
"What's wrong?" She pulled me in and had me sit on the couch.
"Ai Jia bring a glass of water will you?" She called out to him in the kitchen.
I took a deep breath as Ai Jia rushed back, handing me a glass that I downed instantly.
"That was quite the scene on stage. You should be happy, what happened?" he questioned, sitting on the couch next to us.
"He didn't tell me he was going to do... that!" I said frustratingly.
"You didn't know?" Jin Yang narrowed her eyes.
"No!" I slumped back into the couch.
"No wonder. You seem to pick quite extreme boyfriends. One was hiding you like an FBI secret and the other has put you out like bait."
"I'm confused." Ai Jia scratched his head.
"Ai Jia do you not remember why we broke up previously?" Jin Yang questioned.
"I wasn't taking things seriously?"
"Well yes, but we didn't understand each others' perspectives. I turned down job offers abroad to stay here with you and you put your career in jeopardy to protect me from your fans. All we needed to do was talk it out. You couldn't understand why I didn't go abroad and I couldn't understand you jumping off stage to fight with your fans for me."
"Jin Yang. I'm here because I'm upset at Lu Si Cheng. Not to hear and analysis of your relationship," I grumbled.
"Getting there Tong Yao." She stroked my hair.
"The point is that right now you and Lu Si Cheng are focusing on yourselves. Relationships don't work by being selfish. I know Lu Si Cheng should've told you before kissing you in public, but did you think the rumors would've stopped?" Jin Yang said gently.
"I think Lu Si Cheng tried taking control of the situation. This way he was able to slap a response in the haters' faces." Ai Jia leaned back into the couch.
"I know he meant well, but I feel pressured now. Everyone is going to think I'm only a gamer so I could date the players' for their fame," I sighed.
"Tong Yao don't repeat the mistakes Ai Jia and I made."
"Yeah Tong Yao, the fans are there to support you through thick and thin. You can't mold yourself into the image they want for you. You're a human, not some puppet," Ai Jia added.
"Hm. Maybe you guys are right, but he should still apologize. It was too sudden."
"You're right. He has to know that he's only a leader to the team. You two are equals in a relationship; he doesn't get to make all the decisions on his own."
Jin Yang's phone started ringing. She glanced and smiled seeing the name.
"I'll be right back. Ai Jia why don't you two play some matches? Tong Yao it'll help you cool down."
"Okay boss." Ai Jia saluted Jin Yang who giggled as she stepped into the bedroom.
Jin Yang POV:
I picked up the phone and answered in a hushed tone.
"Captain, have you realized your mistake?"
"Jin Yang yes yes, can you convince Tong Yao to come back for dinner? I promise I can fix this, I know I was wrong! You know I wouldn't intentionally hurt Tong Yao." Lu Si Cheng was practically pouting on the other end.
"Okay okay, quit whining. As long as you know you're wrong. She's not really that mad she's just frustrated at your lack of communication. I have to say Cheng-ge that move was quite surprising on stage," I giggled.
"It doesn't feel as powerful now that I've upset Tong Yao. Luckily, my mom knows how to handle the fans. I just have to cheer up Tong Yao."
"What did you plan?"
"Oh you know. A nice dinner, some gifts, and lots of love of course."
"Hm, sounds like you put in lots of efforts. Alright, I'll send back the pretty princess. You better not screw up again. I'm not always here to help."
"I got it alright. Take care of her okay?"
"Hm." I hung up.
Stepping back into the living room, I saw Tong Yao and Ai Jia yelling at their screens.
"You two are such phone addicts," I said joining them back on the couch.
They stared at me before focusing back on the game.
"Ai Jia use your skill, their jungler joined the fight!"
"Okay, Tong Yao their mid is behind you!"
They played around for the next hour as I moved around the apartment, occasionally checking in on them. I had to find the perfect outfit for Tong Yao. In the end, I decided on some black jeans with red bottoms. I found a soft, cherry-colored velvet top that had a sweetheart neckline and puffy sleeves.
"Tong Yao, are you done yet?"
"Last match sister."
I sat back down on the couch as the two furiously tapped away on their phones.
"Yeah!" They shouted, giving each other a high-five.
"Another win let's go! Tong Yao, you should've joined our team. I had no idea you improved this much."
"Of course I did. They don't call me the Mulan of e-sports for nothing."
"Okay wrap up the fan clubs you two are about to open for each other," I said.
Reluctantly, they put their phones away, turning their attention to me.
"Tong Yao, as much as I'd love for you to have a sleepover I think you should go back to your base." I glanced at Ai Jia, hoping he understood.
"Oh yes! Tong Yao you're still a part of the team. You have matches to play." Ai Jia caught on, thank goodness.
"I guess you both are right. Worse comes to worse I'll lock myself in my room and only come out to play the matches," She sighed.
This girl sighed a lot. I grinned and dragged her into the bedroom.
"Wear this." I pointed at the outfit laying on the bed.
"Jin Yang, I'm not trying to seduce the captain." She stared pointedly at me.
"Just wear it for me will you? Let him regret upsetting the princess." I held her cheeks.
"Finee," She whined, pushing me out of the room.
I went back to the couch and whispered to Ai Jia, telling him about the phone call.
"Ohh, no wonder you're trying to send her back."
"Keep it down will you." I glanced at the bedroom door.
"Sorry. I never knew Lu Si Cheng was so clingy. Hierophant would love to hear about his best friend actually falling in love. It's amazing seeing such a stubborn person bow down to another stubborn person," he whispered.
We laughed at how prideful ZGDX's mid and AD were. We were watching an enemies to lovers novel come true.
"I'm ready!" Tong Yao stepped out carefully.
The heels made her a few inches taller and her hair perfectly contrasted with the dark romantic look I was going for. The lipstick shade perfectly matched the top and her skin looked even fairer with the dark colors she had on.
"Tong Yao you're glowing!" Ai Jia exclaimed.
"Really? Don't lie to me." She wagged her finger.
I stood up to walk over to her. I held her shoulders and reassured her that she looked like a siren and warrior all in one.
"If I were Lu Si Cheng I'd have a heart attack seeing my girl looking this good," Ai Jia added.
"Alright, let's get going then. Ai Jia you still have livestreams to do, back to the base."
Lu Si Cheng POV:
Thanks to the team I was able to put together the perfect surprise for my girlfriend. They teased me a lot for not being able to say anything against Shorty, but I'd do anything to make her smile again. We had decorated the base with red and black balloons and I even made an "I'm sorry" cake from scratch. I went out with Lao K to pick out a gift as well. The team helped prepare our mid's favorite meal and drinks. Xiao Rui even offered to cut down Tong Yao's livestream hours because he'd rather argue with the club then lose such a good mid. I prayed that Jin Yang could convince Tong Yao to just step foot back in here and I could fix the rest. I had just climbed down the stairs dressed in a black shirt and pants when the doorbell rang.
"That's definitely Tong Yao. Go get her Leader!" Lao K said.
My teammates encouraged me as I stood in front of the door. I pulled it open to find Tong Yao looking stunningly beautiful. She was wearing red and black, two of my favorite colors. I had to remind myself that I need to apologize to her before kissing her cherry lips.
"Cheng-ge." She waved her hand in my face.
I was staring.
"Come in, right this way." I stepped back and held the door for her.
She took small steps into the base, looking down at the rose petals leading to the kitchen.
"Wow." She stared wide-eyed at the base as if she were looking at it for the first time.
"Welcome back!" The team stood at the kitchen table holding a welcome banner.
They beamed smiles at her and she returned one, finally revealing the pearly white smile I was desperate to see all day.
"Let's go." I gently lead her by the arm to the table where the cake was.
She glanced at it before turning to face me.
"I'm sorry. I know I should've asked you before doing a stunt like that in public. I thought this was the best way to control the situation, but I can't always act on my own. Next time, I won't do anything without communicating with you. Forgive me please." I looked into her eyes.
Nearby, our teammates held their breath in anticipation for the mid's response.
"I guess I acted too rashly," she said nervously. "I'll try to be more understanding from now on."
The team cheered at us finally reconciling. I pulled out a box from my pocket, taking out a ring that was decorated with a purple heart, the shade of her favorite Shikigami.
"If you allow me, I want to seal our promises today with this. I promise with my heart to never intentionally upset you."
She held her hand out as I slipped the ring on. Though the ring was shiny, her glow stood out far more than any diamond could. Our teammates clapped and we spent the rest of the night joking around over dinner.
"I've never seen someone get mad at Cheng-ge, even better was him having to make amends on his own," Xiao Pang laughed.
"The fans would've loved to see this new personality," Lao Mao added.
"Eh? Tong Yao, didn't you say that my brother wouldn't fall in love with a human? You're eating your own words now," Lu Yue joked.
"He threatened me with a cat, I was tricked," she pouted.
"Yes, everything was my fault. Don't tease her guys." I ruffled her hair, kissing her forehead.
Our team gagged at the open display of affection.
"Don't be jealous. You guys couldn't handle a girl's temper like Lu Si Cheng did today," Lao K said earning nods of agreement from the rest.
"Temper? Who has a temper?" Tong Yao glared at Lao K.
"Lao K don't ruin Cheng-ge's efforts. He won't be able to have a good night's rest without her," Xiao Pang snickered.
"Our mid and AD are both important cores for the team. You lose them, you lose the trophy," God Ming said.
His comment worked as they finally stopped teasing us. I was worried that Tong Yao was going to look like a pufferfish by the end of the night with how she huffed and puffed at the teasing.
"Tong Yao you look great by the way. You should dress like that more, we'll easily win the next matches," Fatty said.
"This is too much effort. I have the brains to win a match. Why would I resort to such methods?"
"Cheng-ge would slaughter the other team for even glancing at his girl. Though I admit, Shorty is looking nice. Cheng-ge, will you finally grant mom her wish of grandchildren?" I threw a slipper at Lu Yue for his comment.
Everyone laughed as Tong Yao continued to blush. I fed her the rest of the meal and we headed up early to the dismay of the team that wanted to tease us more. We were in her room and I shut the door behind us before wrapping her in a hug. Her strawberry scent soothed my nerves. It felt like centuries had passed without her touch.
"You look ravishing tonight darling."
"Cheng-ge, don't be a thug."
"I think I'm still hungry."
"Ah?" She pulled back, confusion painted on her face.
"You look like a five-star meal," I whispered.
Her eyes widened. I couldn't hold back any longer and kissed her, biting on the cherry lips I had been eyeing ever since she walked back in. She melted in my arms as I felt her gently kissing back. My mind wished time would freeze right here. I wanted to savor her taste for a lifetime. No matter how much I kissed her I could never get enough. I swear, I won't hurt my little rabbit.
The End.
I know you all can imagine what happens next. Oh to be loved! I feel so single writing these. Anyways, I didn't actually do my assignments today like I should've so now I have hours worth of work due tomorrow at midnight. Wonderful, I know. Stuff be happening, everything feels so surreal at times. I pray that if I can't get anything else that I at least find someone who loves me with their whole heart. Just someone who can hug me and tell me everything will be okay. Have a great night/day guys! Love you all❤️
