Friday, 11th April 1991

When Felicity finished her last theory exam for Auror Training she beamed at Alastor Moody, who was the one supervising her with a grunt as he collected her exam parchments. The exam wasn't as hard as she'd thought and she managed to finish them easily enough, she hoped.

Moody eyed her smile before growling," Your results aren't out yet. Don't be so bloody happy, Cade."

Felicity chuckled," I've seen enough from your looks throughout to know how well I've done."

"Glad to know your overconfidence hasn't disappeared over the years," said Moody dryly.

Felicity grinned," When do I receive my results?"

Moody paused," Monday. You have tomorrow off till Monday. When we see how well you've done you'll be assigned duties."

Felicity grin widened," Brilliant! Well I'll be off then, Alastor."

She was halfway out of the door before Moody called," Cade?"

"Yes?"

"Wipe that smile off your face," barked Moody, though Felicity detected a hint of a smile in his voice.

Laughing slightly, she gave a wave before closing the door.

The door to James' open flew open and Addams entered hurriedly," Auror Potter, there's an attack."

Sirius and Remus, who had come in for a word were on their feet with their wands out at once.

"Where?" demanded James.

Addams swallowed before saying," Azkaban. And there's no way in without getting killed. The death eaters have surrounded the island and the dementors are now in You Know Who's control."

James' blood ran cold and he saw Remus still next to him. Without another word, the two left the office and went straight to Scrimgeour, where they saw the other Aurors starting to assemble, all of them talking at once.

"OY!" bellowed Sirius, who stood next to Irena and was trying to get the room's attention," If you lot would be quiet we need to assess the situation. Irena?"

Irena said grimly," I'm afraid the situation is bad. All four Aurors I've kept on patrol duties are either dead or badly wounded, and the fifth managed to give out the message quickly before the death eaters got to him. Getting in is now impossible during daylight. They would immediately see us and we'd be dead before we reached the island."

"What about at night?" voiced out James.

Scrimgeour answered," We'd need to send out a team of Aurors skilled at concealing themselves. We need to see how much of Azkaban they've taken and if the dementors are controllable."

"You'd be wasting your time," a new voice said and they all turned to see Maura Launder-one of the Aurors assigned to patrol Azkaban.

Alice Longbottom and Marlene Black rushed to her at once and managed to catch her before she fell. She was badly wounded and bleeding from several place. Her left arm was bent at an odd angle and her foot was swollen. It was a wonder she'd managed to get all the way back to HQ.

"Maura!" said Remus in alarm.

Maura shook her head at them," You Know Who's surrounded the whole place. He's got an army of death eaters there and all the dementors at his control. All the prisoners that were there have been released and there's nothing we can do. Even sending out a team of the best concealers wouldn't help. Azkaban's no longer in our control," she gasped out, letting out a cough.

"We're taking you to the infirmary," said Alice gently, helping her up.

Marlene's eyes swept over them," Any objections?" her tone was directed at Scrimgeour, whom they all knew was not on the best of terms with the Blacks.

But the Chief Auror said nothing and they watched as one of their best was helped out of the room. Scrimgeour's yellow eyes scanned the Aurors present before he turned to Irena," I want five Aurors best in concealment to go tonight by use of boat."

"Haven't you heard Maura? Going would be suicide," said Sirius, eyes flashing in annoyance.

Scrimgeour inclined his head," So is going on raids, Black. Irena, five Aurors."

"Who will lead them?" asked James with raised eyebrows.

Scrimgeour met his eyes before saying," I will."

In the end, Dimitri Sergey, Remus Lupin, Frank Longbottom, Gina Norwood and Nyle Farquhar were on dock, led by Rufus Scrimgeour. The Chief Auror's gaze landed on each of them before giving the signal to leave. Each of them had been chosen for a reason and they all knew why.

"They will be expecting us, however they will not be able to see us thanks to the charm. Sergey, Lupin and Longbottom, you come with me on the island, Farquhar, try to see if every ward put by the Ministry has been removed, Norwood, you will stay on deck to ensure our protection," said Scrimgeour, giving out instructions to each of them.

"What happens if the death eaters see us?" Gina asked.

"If Auror Sergey does his job well then we will see them first," replied Scrimgeour.

Dimitri bristled slightly before Remus spoke up," It's possible that they've kept protection charms to alert them of our coming. Dimitri's task will be fruitless if they have."

"We'll simply have to be ready for them and get ready to apparate while we're on the boat," said Scrimgeour emotionlessly.

Remus pursed his lips and was silently glad neither Sirius nor Marlene were here. None of them would have taken kindly to Scrimgeour's lack of a proper plan. Their Chief Auror was too bent on results than process and he knew one way or another this would not end up in their favour.

It was roughly two hours before they finally reached the island and all six Aurors tensed. Remus sharpened his senses, his ears extra keen in case of whispers and his eyesight ready to see approaching figures. Next to him, Dimitri's eyes narrowed, trying to sense any death eater auras to see if there was anyone around. He felt something infront of him to his left and said in a low voice," There's one on Frank's side. He's in the same position so I doubt he's noticed us."

"Good," said Scrimgeour in a satisfied voice and they all remained silent as the boat reached to a standstill on the island.

They all got out without a sound, having kept silencing charms on themselves. Norwood stayed in the boat, wand at the ready in case of an attack and a quick retreat while the rest exited. Farquhar began his work around the island, muttering and murmuring to himself as the other four got out of the boat.

Scrimgeour paused before saying," Longbottom, with me, Sergey and Lupin to my left, if you encounter a death eater or a dementor, you know what is to be done."

As soon as they were out of earshot Dimitri muttered," I wish Sirius had come. His mouth would've been helpful atleast."

Remus chuckled," Patience, my friend. Scrimgeour may demand results but atleast he is a capable leader."

Dimitri shrugged and the two of them started on their way, wands ready.

They walked for a while encountering no one and nothing. Remus's senses were on high alert and Dimitri was constantly checking to see if anyone or anything was around.

"Too quiet," muttered Dimitri.

Remus nodded in agreement before stiffening. He felt Dimitri tense as well and the two exchanged glances before turning to their left cautiously.

They could hear voices coming from infront of them at a corner and they approached slowly, keeping their breathing low and steady and their grips firm.

"Creepy place this is, 'specially with them dementors," a voice grumbled.

"Be quiet Jefferson. D'you want them dementors to hear and come?" another voice hissed.

"I dunno why the Dark Lord couldn't stay at the Manor. Safe and away from them creatures," said the first voice sullenly.

Remus and Dimitri had reached the corner and exchanged looks, ready to stun the death eaters when a shadow appeared from in front of them and someone said in surprise," Oi!"

Not hesitating, Remus took on the newcomer while Dimitri turned a corner and threw two quick stunners at the too slow to react death eaters. They were successful before a cold feeling surrounded them and Dimitri stumbled slightly. Remus frowned before his eyes widened at the shadow of an approaching dementor. Two dementors. In horror, he turned to his friend but Dimitri was in no condition to help. He was trembling and his eyes were closed, hand grabbing at one of the cell door.

Remus knew why he was in such a state but wished his friend was of help.

"Dimitri!"

His friend's trembling increased slightly but his eyes opened and Remus raised his wand. He brought forth the memory of Harry being born and the happy days they had-used to have-No! he thought in horror, a picture of Jasira coming to mind and their betrayal.

The dementors were nearing, taking their time as they saw their victims falling to their effect. Remus forced himself not to stumble as a cold feeling engulfed him.

"Dimitri, think of Sofia and Alora," he said softly, hoping his friend could hear him.

Remus closed his eyes and remembered fourth year, when Aidan and Jasira had come back as Hogwarts dueling champion. He remembered the huge Gryffindor party they'd had and felt a smile tug at his lips. Jasira hadn't stopped grinning for a week after that and the Marauders had never played more pranks and gotten more detentions.

"Expecto Patornum!" he said calmly.

A huge wolf emerged from his wand-alongside another animal, an Arabian winged horse. The dementors stood no chance and Remus turned to Dimitri.

"Alright, mate?" he asked carefully.

Dimitri gave a weak smile," Cheers. Sorry for that."

Remus brushed his apology aside before saying quietly," It still bothers you, doesn't it?"

Dimitri looked at him," It never stopped, Remus, not once."

Remus looked away sadly before the same feeling came from his left and a large bear patronus appeared," Attack on our side. East wing. Dementors approaching your wing. Retreat," said Frank Longbottom's voice and, with one last look, the two men hurried as fast as they could from the island.

They jumped onto the boat just as curses came at them from above and Norwood immediately left the shore. Within seconds they had left the island behind, with Remus, Frank and Dimitri having used their full body shield charms to protect the others.

"What happened to him?" asked Farquhar, kneeling next to a bleeding and unconscious Scrimgeour as Norwood set to work healing him as best she can.

Frank shook his head," The minute we separated we entered what we thought was an empty cell but it turns out there were death eaters sitting low. We started dueling but it attracted the others and soon dementors arrived. He got hit with three cutting charms," he said gravely.

"Maura was right. The place is surrounded with death eaters and the dementors are no longer in our control, we fought off two," said Remus grimly.

Dimitri gave a sigh," This is why Voldemort was quiet the past few weeks. He's been waiting for an advantage. And now he has it."

No one knew how to respond to that.

When Dimitri flooed back home, Kassian sat in the living room with a book. He looked up at once at his son's arrival and took in his appearance.

"How are they?" asked Dimitri, referring to his children.

"Sleeping, they were quite good today, not a single complaint to be heard," said Kassian with a smile.

Dimitri raised an eyebrow," Is that so? I'd better give them cookies tomorrow then, if Sofia hasn't eaten them all?"

Kassian chuckled," I managed to save a few," he paused before asking," how was it?"

Dimitri sighed," As bad as we feared. Azkaban is now in his control and so are the dementors."

"I meant how was the encounter with the dementors, Di?" asked Kassian gently.

Dimitri froze before looking at his father. Kassian was looking at him with a knowing look and he looked away, his heart heavy.

"If Remus hadn't reminded me of my twins I doubt I'd be here," he admitted.

Kassian's face softened," It wasn't your fault, Dimitri."

Dimitri shook his head bitterly," I couldn't stop it, dad, now my brother's lying in a bed instead of being with his wife," he said miserably," and I can't even blame Jas for leaving when I've experienced something similar. Atleast I have a memory of her, dad, Jas doesn't."

Kassian shook his head sadly," She'll come back to us, Dimitri."

"Perhaps she will, in time, but will he?" said Dimitri before getting up abruptly," I'll check on the girls before going to bed. Thanks for the help, dad."

Kassian gave a sigh," Goodnight, Dimitri."

Dimitri opened the door to his daughters' room quietly and peeked in. He smiled as he saw the twins holding hands as they slept and Alora having an arm protectively around Sofia. Sofia's brown hair-just like her mother and aunt was fanned around her face and so was Alora's dark hair-just like her father and uncle.

Dimitri stood there for a while, staring at his daughters. He blinked to prevent the tears from falling as he remembered his wife cradling them the first time. They were only three years old yet he was terrified for them and for himself. Dimitri was afraid of what he'd do if he lost his girls-the only reason why he was fighting this war. To give them the life that was denied to his brother and sisters and himself. With a sigh, he closed the door and headed to his room.

When his wife had died he had sold their house and chose a medium sized flat for his kids to grow up away from the attacks. It was in London, not the first choice for death eaters to attack but atleast it made him work easily knowing his kids were in a safe area.

His mind drifted off to Azkaban and the dementors. Shame clouded him as he remembered how easily he'd fallen. But he hadn't been able to help it and unwillingly, the memories came flashing back.

He pointed his wand at Aidan as Irena stood next to him, both eyes unfocused as their brother stared at them in confusion.

"I'm sorry Aidan," whispered Irena before a brilliant purple light engulfed Aidan and he screamed, falling to the ground writhing.

"We shouldn't have done this Irena!" he yelled at his sister.

Irena looked horrified," It was the right thing to do, Di! He was a liability!"

Dimitri glared at her, furious," How dare you?" he shouted, looking ready to turn on her.

Irena looked baffled and confused. Bewildered, she fell to the ground, her wand dropping before crawling to her brother's body.

"Aidan? Aidan! AIDAN!" she screamed, tears streaming down her face as she shook her brother's body, watching as he convulsed violently.

Dimitri shook her off," We need to get him to St Mungo's!"

Jasira's eyes staring at them, crying that night.

"You weren't there. You didn't see him! He can't even do anything except just stay in bed. What the hell am I supposed to be doing, Irena? Since you obviously seem to know everything about it!"

Dimitri shook his head, silent tears as he remembered thinking silently, we were there. We did it.

He closed his eyes as Jasira's final words came at them, slapping them in the face.

"Had to do it. Had to do it! How sick can you get? Your own brother! Your own triplet brother and you go and end up making him paralysed for the rest of his life. How can you even live with yourself? How can any of you live with the fact that you ruined two people's lives? On top of that, you don't have a single bloody reason to justify your actions! I'll tell you one thing," she looked around with hurt eyes, eyes so full of deep hurt that the others couldn't bear looking at her," You'll find it hard to earn forgiveness from me, not now, not ever."

Dimitri shook his head, eyes shining with tears as he remembered. He remembered not wanting to do it but feeling that it was right. He remembered his brother's empty eyes as he stared at them. He remembered the empty feeling he'd felt after doing it. He remembered Irena crying and screaming, wondering why she'd hurt her brother. Dimitri had seen his parents' shocked looks, had remembered Sofia's enraged looks, had remembered Jasira's betrayed look, but not once had Aidan looked betrayed. His brother had trusted them even when he was being attacked and Dimitri felt he would never forgive himself.

Monday, 14th April 1991

Felicity felt nervous as she entered Moody's office and saw Frank there as well. The latter smiled warmly at her while Moody merely gave a nod.

"Nervous, are we?" said Frank with a chuckle before handing her an envelope.

Felicity took it before tearing it open quickly. Her eyes scanned the parchment. She'd gotten full marks in aiming practicals and theory of antidotes and poisons. She'd gotten O's in almost everything: Resilience Training, Aiming, Physical Exercise, Dueling, Wandless abilities, Shield charms and spell casting, her theories, the only low one with an E was Concealment and Disguise, a feat which made her lips twitch. Of course that would be her lowest. She wasn't very subtle, after all, when it came to her dueling approaches.

"What do you think?" asked Frank with raised eyebrows," You're one of the highest scorers we've had in years and that's saying something. By far dueling is your forte as well as shield charms and spell casting, before aiming and you've done excellently in wandless training, not to mention your resilience as well," he commented.

"Longbottom's right, Cade. You begin work immediately," said Moody briskly.

Felicity gave a small smile," Thanks. Er, what are my duties?"

Moody spoke up," You'll be under Longbottom. The more raids and fieldwork you do and how you do it will determine your rank in the Headquarters. You'll either do well in patrols, fieldwork, or going on raids. Each sector will have to be done on certain timings and paperwork will be handed in as well. You'll be in the same cubicle as you were before, only time it will be official. The more death eaters you take out, the more likely you are to rise in rank."

"Right. How long does it take to become senior Auror?" asked Felicity curiously.

"It took Moody less than a year however for people like James and Sirius they managed a year before rising up. I reckon it's because they were volunteers to loads of things. Capture death eaters and come out alive, and you might just move up quicker than you think. Each senior Auror has a group of workers working with them, and you'll be with me," replied Frank.

Felicity nodded before smiling at them," Well, senior Auror, let's begin work."

Frank glanced at Moody as the latter snorted and said," You'll have your hands full."

Felicity pretended not to hear him.

"Congratulations," said Remus warmly, appearing beside Felicity as the witch was deep in work. First day or not, she already had a pile of paperwork to get through.

Distracted, she looked up," Sorry? Oh, thank you Remus," she said politely.

"We'll be working together then," said Remus conversationally.

"What? You mean you're also in Frank's team?" asked Felicity surprised.

Remus chuckled," Did you believe I'd be in James' or Sirius'? I'm afraid Scrimgeour believed it would be a bit too chaotic with the three of us in the same place," he said wryly.

"What, he doesn't think the three of you can behave?" said Felicity in mock surprise.

Remus said dryly," More of the fact that he's quite right in believing that."

Felicity gave a small laugh at that before stopping abruptly. She saw Remus observing her carefully and she said with forced easiness," Don't you have any paperwork, then?"

"I finished mine a while back. However, I've got patrols in a bit so I'll be gone," he replied easily.

Felicity gave a nod before falling silent, heaving a sigh of relief when one of the other Aurors called for Remus' attention. She exhaled. She knew she'd have to be careful around Moony. Felicity had a strong feeling he was starting to get suspicious of her but she wasn't sure. There were times when she forgot herself and got along quite fine before she remembered that night and her mood was gone. With a sigh, Felicity got back to work.

"What did you get?" asked Reyna eagerly.

"Did you pass?" added Rylan, trying to get a closer look at his mother.

Felicity was grinning through the mirror as she said," Top marks in nearly all of them except for Concealment and Disguises. I've already started working."

Rylan whooped as Reyna beamed," We knew you'd make it," she said confidently.

Felicity laughed," Yes well, I'm to be under Frank's team and there's plenty of work to be done."

Reyna's smile died down," This means you won't be able to talk much, doesn't it?"

Felicity looked guilty," I'm sorry twins, but I'm afraid so."

Rylan sighed," It's alright mum, just stay safe for us."

Felicity smiled slightly," I always do."

April quickly turned into May and Reyna felt the school days go rather quickly. Ever since the Slytherins had learnt that Azkaban had been taken by Voldemort their confidence had soared and they'd had a small celebration in the common room with those belonging from the darker families. She'd caught a glimpse of Marcus Flint and Adrian Pucey grinning cruelly when they'd caught her watching and she felt a chill run down her spine.

Reyna had a suspicious feeling that Osbourne and some others were planning something from the looks they kept throwing at her and her dread was growing. She started spending less time with Rylan, whom she was worried was the main target-and more time with Delilah and Zach. For some reason, some of the Slytherins seemed a tad wary of the young Rosier and her friend seemed to not care in the slightest.

It was as Reyna was walking from the Slytherin Common Room and towards the library when she heard it. A small whisper, barely audible, but it was too late before her cry was silenced and her body felt heavy. All went black.

"Wake up, little snake," a voice called out harshly, and Reyna felt a hand shake her.

She blinked hazily, not feeling any pain before she remembered. With a cry of alarm, she looked around her before catching sight of Osbourne, Gibson-the Slytherin prefect and Gladwin, the one who Rylan had defended against.

Reyna's heart rate quickened and she tried to control her voice as she asked angrily," What do you want?"

"She's angry," said Gibson with a smirk.

Osbourne gave a cold smile," As she should be," he moved closer to Reyna before getting eye to eye from where she sat on a chair, bound with ropes," You embarrassed me infront of the other Slytherins, Cade. I didn't like that."

Reyna said nothing. Her contact brown eyes glared at him to continue.

"I think she's worried we're going to kill her," said Gladwin with a sneer.

Reyna's heart pounded but she said quietly," You won't."

"And what makes you so sure of that?" said Osbourne softly, his eyes malicious.

But before Reyna could answer Gibson spoke up," Let's hurry then, Osbourne. Her little friends will no doubt wonder where she's got to."

Osbourne threw him an irritated look but complied," Look, Cade, perhaps Flint's words the first day didn't get to you. But Slytherins don't like having a member who's a mudblood lover. You've already made several enemies, and making more of them will ensure you a horrible future at Hogwarts."

"You'll want to tell me something new, then," answered Reyna, glad that her voice didn't come out shaking.

Gladwin snarled and took out his wand but Gibson nudged him sharply, snapping," We're not going to do that mate. She's trying to provoke us."

Reyna shook her head but Osbourne tugged her chin up roughly, and she scowled, realizing she couldn't pull away thanks to the spell.

"There's one person whom you'd never want to make an enemy of, and if he learns of a puny little first year's goal to change Slytherin," he spat," you're dead."

Reyna couldn't quite mask the fear in her eyes and he saw it. Satisfied, Osbourne stepped back," Perhaps now you'll stop your nonsense," he said smugly.

Gibson stepped forward and raised his wand, muttering a spell that Reyna didn't know of. The ropes which bound her vanished but she didn't stand. Without another glance, the three left the room.

As soon as the door closed Reyna let out a breath and stood shakily. She leaned on the classroom wall, covering herself with her arms before she whispered," What am I going to do?"

The exams were soon approaching and Reyna turned her attention on them. She hadn't told anyone-not even Rylan- about her warning from Osbourne and pretended as though nothing had happened. She didn't fool her brother, who'd noticed her absence immediately and had tried to coax her to tell him. Reyna had simply said she'd been in her dormitory reading a book and lost track of time.

She knew that if she were to tell Rylan he'd never stop worrying and her mum would probably have him be with her at all costs. Her mother had already lost her father, having her worried about losing a daughter wouldn't help matters. Reyna shut her mouth, though she felt angry every time Osbourne turned to give her a smirk.

"Mum would probably tell me I need to work on my magical senses," said Reyna miserably. She thought she was quiet but Zach's sharp ears caught her words.

They were in the library, trying to do some revision for the exams. Delilah looked up as well, interested.

"What was that? Why'd you need to work on your magical senses?" he asked curiously.

Reyna shook her head," It helps in staying alert in your surroundings."

"My aunt said magical senses aren't very easy if you start practicing when you're above ten years," put in Delilah," have you started before that, then?"

Reyna nodded, slightly uncomfortable," I'm not quite good though."

"But you know the basics?" pressed Zach," do you think you can teach me?"

Reyna looked surprised," You want to learn how to sharpen your senses?"

Zach nodded eagerly," I've only every heard of it but I reckon it'd come in useful."

Reyna exchanged looks with Delilah but nodded slowly," Alright then, but probably not anytime soon."

Satisfied but slightly disappointed, Zach agreed.

Felicity crouched from where she was hidden behind one of the abandoned warehouses. Her eyes caught sight of Miller across the warehouse, one of the other Aurors assigned to the field before she looked away. Three other Aurors were in different hiding places and they'd been warned that death eaters might arrive any time.

Felicity and her team had arrived ten minutes ago thanks to James, who'd told them the death eaters were due to arrive at exactly a quarter past two and it was now two twelve. Felicity's eyes scanned the small village they were in though a bit further from the people. There were a couple of muggles walking by innocently and the brunette had to resist the urge to warn them to leave.

Her eyes looked up briefly before flicking to her watch. It gave a small beep as it turned to two fifteen. Her grip tightened on her wand and she ensured her senses were sharp and ready. Barely three seconds had passed before a series of pops were heard around her.

She tensed but didn't move. They'd discussed the plan beforehand. Attacking immediately would have a higher chance of making the death eaters retreat which would lead to no capture, and the whole point of this was to capture one to gain information about Azkaban. They'd have to wait a bit.

Felicity saw Owens, the Auror in charge of the field work give the signal and she gave a nod. No sooner had she started standing before the warehouse across her-the one in which Miller had been hiding from erupted in flames and she heard a scream before a jet of green light killed one of their own.

Enraged, Felicity made to run in her direction but a spell came her way and she barely managed to avoid it. She launched into a duel and took the death eater out with a well-aimed stunner before scanning her surroundings, trying to ignore her feeling of growing grief.

Owens was in a duel with two death eaters while Williamson and Norwood were running towards three others in different directions. Felicity ran towards Miller, her hands trembling as she neared and saw her teammate's body.

The fire had singed her robes but it was the final killing curse that had gotten her. Felicity's face hardened before she levitated her body to an area away from the fire before running in the direction of Norwood and Williamson.

There was a knock on James' office before Owens entered, looking grim.

The Marauder immediately stood up," How did it go?" he asked, trying to ignore the feeling of dread in his stomach as he saw Owen's grief stricken face.

"Miller's gone," the Auror said with a heavy sigh.

James stiffened, his face showing a string of emotions from sadness to anger to grief," Who?" he asked quietly, his hands clenching. This was the third death the Aurors had gotten and had barely managed to capture any from the dark side.

"The warehouse behind her exploding but one of the death eaters got her with the killing curse. Cade managed to capture him. Kingsley's holding him in one of the cell room," answered Owens.

James nodded, barely paying attention and Owens turned to leave.

James closed his eyes, trying to get a grip on his emotions as Miller's face appeared in his mind. As the former Auror had been under his charge, he'd be the one to break the news to Miller's wife and twelve-year-old son. He couldn't help feeling that the war was taking a turn for the worse and it was taking lives rather than saving them.

"Julian Hector, from what he seems, we reckon he's a junior death eater, not high enough to know his master's secrets," informed Irena as James and Garth approached her and Scrimgeour.

"Has he been interrogated enough?" asked Garth, his eyes turning to the young man in the room.

"We've only asked him a few questions," answered Irena.

James studied Hector through the glass panel. Mousy brown hair with dark eyes. He was of average height and from where he sat in the secured black chair with hands tied, he looked afraid though he still raised his chin defiantly.

"Garth and Potter, I need you two in there," said Scrimgeour, his yellow eyes on the piece of parchment in front of him.

"Any information before we go in?" James asked.

"He was a Ravenclaw, so we must deal with him carefully. He knows we will not kill him, nor can we take him to Azkaban so he will feel secure about being captured," said Scrimgeour crisply.

James pursed his lips before nodding to Garth and they both entered the interrogation room.

Hector glared at them disdainfully before spitting out," Here to get information, are you? Take a piece of advice and-"

"Save it," interrupted Garth rudely," you'll only talk when we allow you to. Potter?"

James nodded. He understood why Garth was cold with Hector, he'd been the one who had killed Miller, a popular Auror among them.

Keeping his voice neutral and eyes emotionless, he started," What was Voldemort's motive in attacking that village?"

Despite himself, Hector flinched at hearing the name and Garth sneered.

"To kill the mudbloods and filthy muggles," smirked Hector, eye glittering.

James gritted his teeth," What about Azkaban? Why does Voldemort want to take control of it?"

Hector shrugged," Dunno. Reckon it's to throw all of you in there, innit?"

"When's the next attack?" asked Garth abruptly.

"You'll have to wait and see," answered Hector, seeming quite at ease within the room.

A jet of light shot out from Garth's wand and Hector screamed as his wrist twisted itself with a snap before righting. He let out a breath of relief before James glared at his fellow Auror.

"What was that for?" he asked angrily," No injuring unless provoked!"

Garth stared back unseeingly," In case you hadn't noticed Potter, this is the same man who'd killed one of our own without blinking. Shocking how easily you'd forgotten that."

James clenched his teeth and opened his mouth to respond furiously before Hector gave said sneeringly," Your family's next, you little mudblood. The Dark Lord will see that each of you is punished for- "

Another jet of yellow light hit Hector and the young man doubled over in pain before Irena entered, looking furious at Garth's actions and snapping," I'll need you in my office as soon as I'm finished here."

Hector was coughing up blood, as James waved his wand over him whilst trying to control his growing anger.

"I told Scrimgeour it wasn't a good idea letting one of Miller's closest friend interrogating her killer," muttered Irena as she helped James.

"I think Scrimgeour expected this to happen. Where is he?" said James.

Irena looked at Hector darkly," There was an urgent meeting with the Minister and he had to leave."

James knitted his eyebrows, filing that information for later.

As she sat in her room, Felicity wondered briefly how Luna and Xeno were doing, away from the war. She doubted either of them were having a moment's peace. War wasn't something that leaves you if you leave. It's the kind of thig that haunts you till it ends, plagues your nightmares, motivates you to keep fighting or makes you feel hopeless.

She had been busy the entire week and as it was a Sunday, Felicity was relieved to get some rest. She was both glad and worried that June was approaching as she'd be able to see her twins again. Felicity felt a small tinge of sadness as she thought of how little time she would be spending with them due to her work. She worried about the attack that could happen to Culbert Residence any time.

Melinda had told her how the death eaters had tried to raid their house but their protective spells had stood firm.

"I don't think Voldemort has a strong interest in our home now that he thinks you no longer live here," Melinda had told her a few days when she'd returned.

Felicity shook her head and let out a sigh. She was about to head towards the bathroom before a small tap was heard from her window. Immediately, the brunette pointed her wand at the window, not relaxing when she saw a grey bird tapping impatiently at her. She sent an unlocking charm at the window before approaching, knowing that the owl wouldn't have been able to get past the wards if it had an intention of harming her.

With a small sniff, the owl dropped the letter on her bed before flying away.

Felicity knew at once that it wasn't from her twins and entertained the fact that one of the professors had written to complain about Reyna or Rylan. Lips twitching slightly, she took the letter and opened it. Her eyes widened in surprised.

Mrs Cade,

I would request a visit with you on Wednesday night at the address written below. My apologies for the grimness of the note.

Yours sincerely,

Albus Dumbledore.

Felicity yelped as the letter neatly turned into flames and vanished, leaving no trace of it being there. She sat on her bed, feeling stunned and anxious.

She knew it was not because of her children, Severus or McGonagall would have been the ones to send a letter of complaint or informant. She had a dreadful feeling it was concerning the Order of the Phoenix, and she already knew what her answer would be.

The question was, did Dumbledore know?

"Everything alright, Jas?" asked Melinda as the three of them sat for dinner.

Darrell looked over at his daughter and commented," It's rare for you to be quiet during dinner."

Felicity gave a small smile at her dad before saying as casually as she could," I received a letter today," she paused," from Dumbledore."

She watched her parents' reactions carefully, noting how Darrell avoided her eyes and Melinda focused on the spaghetti she had been rolling around her fork.

"Judging by your expressions, both of you seemed to have been expecting this. I have only one question, does he know?" asked Felicity, trying to keep the irritation out of her voice.

Darrell cleared his throat," We don't think so, however with Dumbledore one can't really tell."

Felicity glared at her dad," Who mentioned me?" she demanded.

Melinda sighed," It was during one of the meetings, Jas. Moody happened to say a new Auror recruit had arrived the day you dueled Irena and it was agreed to see how well you'd fare in the program. Then you volunteered for various missions and patrols, not to mention made friends with Lily and the others and are staying with us and your name started growing. We're looking for new recruits to join us, Jas, our numbers haven't risen for a year," explained her mum.

Felicity inhaled," I thought you didn't want me taking on more projects mum," she said tiredly.

Melinda looked guilty," You'll arrange something with Dumbledore."

Felicity was quiet and Darrel looked at her closely," You will accept, won't you?" he asked, a slight edge to his tone.

Felicity pursed her lips," I'm afraid not."

Darrell opened his mouth to say something but Melinda beat him to it," Jas, please, I know you said you wouldn't join until Aidan awakes but- "she hesitated, trying to choose her words carefully but her daughter shook her head.

"I've already told dad mum, and it's not because of him. It's not time for me to join yet. The jobs the Order does are things I cannot do for various reasons," said Felicity heavily.

"Such as?" asked Darrell, his eyes hardening," it seems to me you are quite willing to take on more patrols and more work and projects but offering help to an organization committed to doing all that you do is more than you can handle."

Her father stood up, his voice turning quieter and filled with disappointment," The Order needs you Jas, even if they don't know it. You managed to save a lot of lives back when you were in it and since you've left many have died trying. It's a shame you aren't willing to do what you can."

Felicity refused to let the tears fall as Darrell left the room, knowing that they were true but they wouldn't understand.

Melinda shook her head sadly," I'm not going to force you Jas, but you know how much he's lost in the war as well. It's frustrating that his own daughter doesn't want to join an organization he's dedicated decades of work into building," she said softly.

"Mum- "began Felicity, hating how choked her voice was but Melinda only gave a small smile.

"He'll understand later. I just hope your reasons are worth the wait, Jasira."

When Wednesday night arrived, Felicity pulled on her night cloak unenthusiastically. She had briefly debated on whether she should be a bit more cautious so Dumbledore would be fooled but the mere idea was funny. She knew at once the brilliant old wizard wouldn't be fooled in the slightest by her glamour but nonetheless the witch made sure her level was seven and her glamour was in place. She'd only let her guard down if Dumbledore showed any signs of knowing who she was.

Once she left Culbert Residence, Felicity apparated to the assigned address, tensing for any sign of attack. Dumbledore had chosen a magical village with which she was not acquainted with but nevertheless made her way towards the door of the pub.

She kept her expression blank as the people around her paid no interest. She saw no sign of Dumbledore and headed towards the counter.

"What can I do for ya, missus? Got a meeting or are yeh here fer a drink?" the barman greeted, gesturing at one of the tables.

"I'm here to see Dumbledore," said Felicity politely," I was told he'd be here."

The barman nodded," Aye, Dumbledore's in one of them rooms. Oy, Alf! Come over here and show the missus to Room 12," he barked to one of the helpers.

The young man nodded sullenly and made no attempt at conversation as he led Felicity to one of the rooms across the hall. He left as soon as she opened her mouth to thank him and the brunette couldn't help her feeling of amusement at his moodiness. It reminded her of when she'd been in no mood to talk to people.

Returning her attention to who was in the door, she knocked once before entering.

Albus Dumbledore's interest was piqued the moment his senses alerted him of a presence behind the door. The aura was powerful, no doubt about that, but it was almost as though the owner's full potential was limited-or rather caged. Intrigued, he let out a smile that almost slipped as Felicity Cade entered the room.

He had expected a resemblance to one of her children at Hogwarts and got it, no doubt about that, but there was no hiding the fact that behind the illusion were features remarkably similar to one of his old students. He wondered doubtfully for a moment if there had been a mistake but rare was it for his observations to be wrong.

"Welcome, Mrs Cade," he said with a pleasant smile, blue eyes clear from behind his moon glasses as he watched her carefully close the door.

Felicity gave him a dry smile that made Dumbledore quite aware that whatever his observations were had indeed been correct. As it was, the brunette witch had known of this, and seemed more at ease than he would have expected.

"Thank you, Headmaster," she replied politely, seating herself from the chair Albus had indicated her to.

There was a small pause as Felicity made herself comfortable before Dumbledore said carefully," I apologize for the letter's cryptic nature, but disclosing the contents of our meeting would have been careless."

Felicity nodded," That's alright, though are our surroundings safe enough to not be heard by the wrong people?" she inquired.

Dumbledore repressed a smile," I've been assured that the wards around this particular room are quite strong. Although for added protection, I have, of course, added my own personal spells," he replied.

Dumbledore studied her intently, noting how she glanced at her surroundings and saw that her hands never left her wand. Her behaviour and tone were enough to fool those who hadn't known her but he had trained himself to seeing through all sorts of disguises. With all respect, Albus Dumbledore knew this was not a matter of his business and so did not bring up the topic.

He hesitated slightly before asking," Have you any children at Hogwarts, Mrs Cade?"

Felicity looked at him sharply before answering," Two twins, first years."

"Ah, Rylan and Reyna Cade, I assume?" said Dumbledore, eyes twinkling.

Felicity gave a small smile," I hope they haven't been getting into any trouble, Headmaster."

Dumbledore waved a hand," Albus please, and I'm glad to say they make quite the talented pair, though a few misencounters that I'm sure you've been notified of?" he said.

Felicity bit back a grin," I believe they will try her best to not break any more rules."

Dumbledore gave a chuckle before his face grew solemn," Mrs Cade, I believe you have heard of the Order of the Phoenix?"

Felicity grew serious," An organization dedicated towards defeating Voldemort. Am I right to believe that you would like me to join?" she went straight to the point.

Dumbledore did not look the slightest bit surprised at her bluntness and rather nodded," I have heard a lot about you from my fellows and would like to extend the invitation to you, if you are willing to join."

Felicity looked away, her lips pursing," What does the Order do?"

"I believe you know the answer to that question," said Albus quietly, his eyes filled with sorrow.

He saw her teeth grit and the way she squared her shoulders but made no attempt to remove the glamour. He admired her bravery at returning, though he had not believed Jasira would have been able to stay away from the war forever. She had grown stronger over the years and when he now remembered the young girl who was currently at Hogwarts having decided that she would make a change to Slytherin House, he had no doubt of that.

Felicity sighed," Then you know that I cannot accept the offer, Albus," she said regretfully.

He had known the minute she had walked into the room but he had to try. Disappointed, he questioned," Might I ask when you will feel inclined to come back to the Order, Jasira?"

Felicity smiled faintly," I'm afraid the best we can do is wait and hope."

He took that a sign of wanting to close the topic and graciously accepted. Felicity seemed to waver before asking," I heard that a prophecy had been made."

She did not phrase it like a question, rather a statement. Albus knew her parents had told her but wondered whether now was the right time to say it.

"Indeed," he said obscurely.

Felicity frowned," I'm assuming this one is not about Harry and has to do with one of my children," she said, her voice slightly impatient.

Dumbledore did not quite meet her eyes as he corrected gently," Both your children, I'm afraid."

Felicity sucked in a breath and Dumbledore asked quietly," Would you like to hear it?"

Felicity hesitated before saying," Not yet. Who else has heard of it?"

"I'm sure you know who had predicted the prophecy, and excluding her, only I know the full contents of what it contains," said Dumbledore gravely.

Felicity nodded, closing her eyes," Voldemort doesn't know?"

Dumbledore nodded firmly," I am quite assured that he has no information regarding what was revealed eleven years ago."

Felicity looked relieved," Thank you."

Dumbledore smiled as he said sadly," It is the least I could have done for you and your children, Jasira."
