Raditz flew forward with all his might, despite his obscene levels of speed, he was slow, painfully slow when compared to the capabilities of the other Saiyans when compared to Kakarot. The instant he learned that Kakarot was sent off the world after he had received Babidi's blessing, Radditz felt it was funny. It was truly amusing that a pitiful Saiyan with a power of only 2, missed out on the greatest possible blessing his people could receive. There were many low-mid-class warriors in Raditz's caste, but because Babidi's blessing affected different warriors differently, he received a much greater blessing than most. Outside of being his father's son, he was assigned to Bardock's squad of newly minted elites, both to add to their strength and to keep an eye on his father.

For years, Raditz did not contemplate his mother at all, she was simply a weak Saiyan, and a weakness his father had, a weakness that made them exploitable, he came to learn that Lord Babidi, while he would not tolerate insubordination towards himself, did not care if Raditz was the punching back of his group, so long as he loyally relays any possible mutinous thoughts. Raditz was content to live this way, only to learn that the entire group, and not just one Saiyan, was being sent to Earth to pick up Kakarot. Raditz was annoyed, even if his little brother grew stronger with age, and maybe survived a few near-death experiences, he didn't imagine his little brother's power level being anything but more than a few hundred, maybe worth sneezing about when Babidi gave him the blessing, but otherwise still nothing but garbage. That's when they began feeling powers in the tens of thousands, all concentrated in the same area, as well as several hundred powers ranging from as low as a few hundred to as high as the mid-thousands.

"This… this is impossible," Raditz muttered as his scouter informed him of Earth. "If we did not receive Babidi's blessing, we would have been irradicated coming to this planet, could it be that Babidi had already blessed this land?"

"Shut up, Raditz." Selypa's voice transmitted over their shared scouter signal, "I can hear your gross, cowardly muttering from here. So they're strong, doesn't matter, we're better, or, at least, 'we' are better, minus you."

Raditz suppressed his anger, "I'm simply irritated, Selypa, if the powers are this strong it means Kakarot is long dead, I don't imagine how a pitiful Saiyan like him would survive such an environment."

"Who knows…" Toma began, "It could actually be Kakarot who our Scouters detect down there, he and a group of subordinates he's gathered, either way, Bardock has the final call, do we risk it and go down, or bombard the Planet from Orbit?"

Bardock's voice was gruff, "I believe they have detected us, given that our scouters read a large number of those insignificant powers are fleeing from our landing zone, and the stronger powers are approaching, we might as well receive their welcome." Raditz often marveled about how his father was amongst the strongest living Saiyans, behind only beings like the King and his son. But at the same time, he raged at how inadequate he was in comparison.

Raditz shook those thoughts from his head, the mission had priority, while he thought it impossible, if his little brother was alive, he was to be recruited, and if he could not come willingly, Raditz would enforce his will. The Saiyan had gotten excited over the idea of having a member of their crew to lord over.

Upon landing, his hopes were shattered.

(current day)

And now, as Raditz landed at the sight of the newly arrived Saiyan pod, something else within him broke. He saw his mother, Gine, for the first time in years, like all Saiyans, she would not age rapidly until she reached her 70's, so she looked unchanged, if not much thinner, from what she was like before. Her eyes were just as bright and sharp, but still as soft and kind, her smile just as kind and considerate, her expression as loving, loving? Raditz felt chills as he thought of that word, but there was no other way to describe it, outside of the elites, very few Saiyans had close relationships with their parents, Bardock for much of his life did not spend much time with Raditz, but Gine, she'd make sure he'd have food waiting when he returned to their domicile, she'd congratulate him whenever he returned from a conquest, sometimes, when he was sleeping, he'd wake up to her patting him on the head, an expression similar to the one she had now on her face. He thought back to how Babidi had taken control of him, how he had exchanged freedom for power, and how his first task had been to threaten his father with his mother's life, the fear and concern on her face as he held her aloft by the neck, her strength powerless against his, and he remembered the way she would look at him lovingly, the way she would look at his baby brother, the useless one, lovingly. He watched as she was hugging him, hugging Kakarot, he watched as he saw his father's smile, a bright, wide smile. He saw those three, and it broke something inside him. He felt his rage building up. Gine turned to look at Raditz, and Raditz, in his fury, prayed their eyes didn't meet, but that if they did, she would look at him with fear, disgust, hate, something, for everything he had taken from her, for everything he did under Babidi's control.

"Why…" Raditz began, his anger peaking as he began to float into the air. Gine extricated herself from her youngest son's embrace as she rushed to Raditz. "Why are you still looking at me like thaaaat!" Raditz charged into the air, prepared to fly as far and as fast as he could, away from his mother and father, away from the little brother that surpassed him, away from the reminders of how much of a failure he was.

"Nope." A voice called out, and Raditz saw stars as the world turned on its head, the last thing he saw was a flash of white as what appeared to be one of those Earth beasts, a thing humans called a dog, landed near him, eyes black as coal and twinkling like a starry sky.

"B-bastard…" Those were his last words before he blacked out.

Gine's mind was abuzz. Her husband was alive, and even better, free from Babidi's mark, her youngest son, Kakarot, was alive, and he looked so strong and handsome, that few words needed to be exchanged between them, they just reveled in each other's presence, and even better, her eldest came flying in, also free.

I have to let him know. She thought, she knew her son, she knew Raditz's inferiority complex, but she also knew her son hadn't hated her, that he had been controlled by Babidi, she had to let him know that she loved him and that she didn't blame him. But as she smiled at her son, his face twisted in disgust and hate, and she felt as if she was stabbed with a knife. She rushed towards him, fearing that if she didn't grab onto him, he'd disappear forever, but he was fast, too fast, too strong. No! She wanted to cry out his name but he interrupted her, demanding why she was looking at him the way she was. And then, like a judgment from the heavens, a white furball the size of Raditz's torso, radiating an intimidating-looking whirlwind-like aura slammed into his chest, knocking him out.

The white-colored beast had a black nose and black eyes, and when it opened its mouth a bright pink tongue lolled to the side as it began to pant. Gine had never seen such a soft-looking beast like this, but outside of her immediate thoughts of how she'd prepare a meal using it, she wondered about why it was so powerful, even then, she rushed towards her son, and used her body to cover his as she stared defiantly at the tiny beast.

"I don't mean to interrupt your family reunion." The beast spoke, shocking Gine. "But this guy was gonna run again, and since that's all he's been doing these three years I thought it'd be good to force a change of pace." The creature was wrapped around in a whirlwind again, revealing a tall young man with bright red hair and piercing green eyes.

"What?" Gine muttered, dumbfounded, she had heard of many strange and bizarre techniques from Bardock's conquests, but it was the first time she'd ever seen talking beasts that could turn into people, or perhaps the opposite, people who could so casually turn into talking beasts.

"I apologize, I think we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, I'm Jazz." The young man began, before kneeling before Gine and the unconscious Raditz. "And I am sorry for what I put you through."

Gine's confusion heightened as she stared at this strange but powerful being. Bardock and Goku had caught up to them. Looking at Bardock, she saw that he was tense, but not hostile, while her son, Kakarot, had a big smile on his face as he looked at the young man called Jazz.

"What are you apologizing for?" Gine asked.

Jazz continued. "When your husband and his group came to invade our planet and recruit your other son, we beat him back and managed to free them from Babidi's clutches. However, it is believed that they died, so, after some probing, Bardock revealed that you were alive and only kept alive so that you could be used as leverage against Bardock."

Gine looked down, already aware of that information. "You don't need to remind me, what does that have to do with you?"

"I told them that in exchange for my loyalty, I wanted women, and that… well…err… I would start with you, ma'am."

Goku's eyes widened and his smile dropped. "You're a weirdo!"

"I didn't mean it!" Jazz snapped, "I needed a way to effectively keep Gine alive without them mistreating her. Freeza's a sadistic bastard, and he hates the Saiyans with a passion, he was practically drooling at the idea of a Saiyan woman being defiled by the bastard who killed her mate and children, and that was enough to ensure that no one would touch or harm Gine even though her worth as a hostage ended the second Bardock 'died'. Okay?!"

"You could have come up with a different strategy," Bardock muttered in irritation, his hand, protectively holding on to Gine reassured her as she stared at the strange man.

"I could have, probably, but I couldn't think of anything at the time, and I understand I have my own issues and foibles to work on since that was my best bet at the time. But come on Goku. I'm not actually the grossest, it's not like I actually did anything or wanted to do anything." Jazz who had raised his head by this point blinked and gasped before returning to his deep bow. "Again though, I am sorry Ms. Gine, it was never my intention to cause you the discomfort and dread you likely felt the entire trip to this planet, I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Yours as well, Bardock."

Bardock's eyes narrowed in irritation. "This is why I don't like you, human, you're so strong but you're ready to throw away your pride at any second. Either you did the best you could and stand by your decision, or you realize you made a mistake and could have done better, I hate this slimy diplomacy you try to convey. Especially since I've already forgiven you, you bastard!"

Jazz looked up. "You don't sound very forgiving."

"Shut the fuck up!" Bardock barked, turning red, "You saved my mate's life and secured my crew's safety, my youngest son is your friend and trusts you with his life, and as far as the Freeza and Saiyan forces are concerned, I'm dead, not only that, you and your mate discovered how to destroy Babidi's magic, so you can free my people and weaken Freeza's forces, you are the best shot for the Saiyans to achieve liberty and are probably still the strongest here, as annoying as that is to contemplate. How can I hate someone like that?"

Gine smiled at her mate's flustered expression. "If Bardock is like this, then what can I say." She punched Jazz lightly on the shoulder, "You shouldn't be scaring old women like this, especially if you're a friend around my son's age, but I thank you, if not for your unorthodox method, I would be dead without seeing my family again. And if everything my Bardock says is true, that means my people have hope." Gine inclined her head. "I know... I know we Saiyans do not deserve it, but, please, please help us, please stop those monsters."

Jazz rubbed the back of his head. "I mean, that was sorta semi my plan."

A voice muttered in irritation, "Mother, get off of me."

"Eek! Raditz?!" Gine hopped off her son's chest with surprising quickness given her condition.

That's Saiyan women for you. Jazz thought, tough as nails, physically, and mentally, at least.

Raditz got up slowly, shaking off any attempts to help him up. He avoided his mother's gaze, glaring at Jazz.

"I just came to make my presence known, any family talk will be between you all." Jazz smiled, "and take it from me. You don't know the last time you get to tell your parents how you really feel about them. So don't run away." And like that, Jazz was gone, flying up then poofing out of existence within a cloud of dust."

"Oh, it was a multiform clone…" Goku mumbled, "No wonder." His eyes flashed in excitement, before turning to see Raditz, who scoffed at him.

"You're so infatuated with those humans that you lack the pride to take offense to their displays of power," Raditz grumbled.

"And you're so hooked up on fear that you don't even want to try and be better." Goku retorted.

"Boys!" Gine shouted, catching both men off guard. "I have not seen either of you in a little over 20 years. I want to know about my men's lives, and I want to do it over dinner."

"Oh! I can take you to meet my Wife, Chi-Chi! She's the greatest cook!"

"Oh? You're wife?" Gine grinned widely, "does that mean I have grandchildren?"

"Just one, his name is Gohan, after my grandpa, who raised me on Earth."

"Gohan sounds lovely." Gine smiled, "I'd love to meet him."

Bardock couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the scene before him and took his wife's hand. They got prepared to fly, but before they did, Gine reached her hand out, tugging at the hem of Raditz's glove.

Raditz stared at his mother, at the light smile on her face. "Come on Raditz, I know you're hungry!"

Nostalgia flooded the Saiyan, as he felt the last of his walls begin to crumble slightly. Face still stern, he nodded slightly and held his mother's hand as the 4 flew towards the lookout.

Jazz smiled as he sparred with Piccolo.

"I take it their family reunion went well." Piccolo scoffed.

"Yes, yes it did, I'm glad you were concerned for them."

"I wasn't concerned, I just was curious if you really meant to keep your end of the bargain or if Bardock was a convenient training dummy for Son Goku."

"Piccolo, I'm hurt." Jazz dodged Piccolo's haymaker strike, extending out his staff to try and catch the Namekian in the jaw. Piccolo leaned away, relying on his flexible body to avoid the attack. At the moment, they were training to build up their reflexes. They powered to their strongest, but most sustainable state, and would lower their strength accordingly to match the other. Then they would apply weights and spar, the purpose was to land a single blow, if either of them took a hit, the match would end in the striker's victory, they needed to fight without getting harmed, and without expending too much stamina, a mix of Korin's training on wasted movements and PoPo's instructions on fighting fluidly and being as lightning. At the moment, they were nearly neck and neck, of their 112 matches, Piccolo had the slight majority of 57 victories vs Jazz's 55 victories, and after Jazz did the splits under Piccolo's chop and struck the inner side of his knee, causing the Namekian to stumble, it was now 56 victories under Jazz's belt. "Geez, I finally beat your win streak." Jazz sighed, the last 4 fights had ended in Piccolo's victory, with the namekian making use of his unique physiology to get the drop on Jazz. Jazz over this time built up his own flexibility, emulating the training he witnessed circus clowns, ballerinas, and gymnasts build up.

"I would say that bo-staff gave you an unfair edge, but I still trounced you those four times with your bo-staff, so I can assume your ridiculous stretching routine actually came to fruition."

"I'll take compliments where I can get them." Jazz stretched. "But I'm glad, it's been three years and everyone has progressed steadily. In one more year, it will be time for the final part of our preparation."

"I still can't believe you." Piccolo crossed his arms. "A divine teacher, greater than Kami, capable of teaching us a technique that could multiply our power several-fold, out of nowhere? It's not power increased via stressing the body via the pump-up technique, it's not the fusion technique, it's not some latent potential awakening, it's a multiplying technique that in theory can stretch infinitely. I can't necessarily believe it."

"You should... you should also believe that the training Kami and I orchestrated has been molding everyone's bodies to handle it." Jazz smirked.

"I promise, in a year's time, we'll be learning the Kaioken."
