Ianto was going through their luggage again, sure he had missed something and as he pulled one of Jack's bags over to open, he heard a clunk. He opened it to find a small box, like a gun box or something and he sat back with a look of glee, turning it over in his hands before opening it.
A Satellite Phone?
Ianto moved quietly to the other room where Jack was sitting with the others all talking about their MIB problem. "Jack? A Sat Phone?"
"What? A What?" Jack rose to turn and gape at him then look down at his hand and the phone "Shit. Where did you get that"
"Your bags."
"My bags… wait. The plain black one with the red strip in the strap?"
Ianto nodded and Jack took the phone to turn over in his hands "Not my bag. It's a Go-Bag in case of a plane crash on a desert island or something. Like… a Civil Defence Kit or something. Huh, I never looked in one."
"Seriously?" John asked rising "Me neither. Wow. We both slept through that class huh?"
Toshiko… will this work in this zone with whatever they are using to stop cell signals?" Ianto asked, waving it at her.
"We might have a small window before they detect it" she said reaching for it and Toshiko made a noise in her throat.
"If I can patch my laptop to it, I might be able to send an email with attachments that will have a better chance of getting the message out that we are trapped in here" she rose to take it to her room, "A phone call might get cut off mid explanation… it only takes a second to send an email with all the info. Radar might help."
"Good idea" Jack said, then he turned to John "What next?"
"We see just how locked in these bastards have us" John said with a frown, "After all… we have a boat."
"You do that… I will go do some wilderness photos… see if the border is solid or there might be some weaknesses." Gwen said with a sniff "Me and Rhys can see if there is a boundary marked."
"I will go visit with the Mayor, be seen and let them wonder what we are up to… while we work out what we want to do about this, Milly was quite annoyed with the strongarming that has started a lot sooner than I thought it would" Ianto agreed "Eddie stays with me."
"Then take this" Jack said, sliding something wrapped in cloth across the table and Ianto reached out to uncover it, then freeze. A gun. He did not pull the wrapping back, just gave Jack a look to let him know the scent of gun oil had been enough.
Ianto slipped it into his jacket pocket, then turned to Owen "What do you want to do Doc?"
Owen grinned "I want to cause some shit at the community center."
"Lovely… sounds like fun."
They all moved off with purpose, the little one taking Ianto's hand as he looked up at him with open affection.
He liked it here.
He knew he was loved.
.
.
"So, we all agree that we are being held here against our will" the Mayor said softly, watching out the large window of his office, his town moving like nothing was wrong while Ianto held up the glass of water and little black dots he have swept the space for.
"Yeah, we are trying to get the message out and hopefully… all going well we might get some answers" Ianto agreed.
"Well… we are all getting bloody annoyed about this. When the others see that glass of little spy things … well. The fuckers are having a go at us over that boy… if they think for one mother-picking second that we are going to hand him over, then can have another think coming to them… right out of my arsehole!" the Mayor growled.
"Oh my… an Arse Thought. Have you met Jack?"
"So, when will we know?"
"Toshiko is going to send a short burst on the Sat phone to get the message out. Then we wait an hour and turn it on in the hopes that we get enough time and power from the Dark Web she is a part of. Hopefully we will learn exactly what is happening out in the real world, then we will know how much of this is all a bloody set up." Ianto whispered then nodded "Look… they can't hear me talking so softly with their handheld scanners, they are trying to get closer."
They watched the van change to their side of the street and the Mayor chuckled "They got listening gear in there."
"Yeah."
"Wann hear my violin?" the Mayor asked "I'm not very good."
"Sounds lovely. I am a bit of a music lover me."
"Not for long you're not"
.
.
Jack let the boat drift closer to the shore as he raised the binoculars and looked through the lens with growing concern. He could see through the trees. Vehicles. Military grade, only black. So, this entire Lake was surrounded.
Fuckers.
.
.
Gwen stood looking over the edge of the ravine and cursed as she saw more vehicles and MIBs wandering abour. They had it all locked down didn't they.
How were they going to keep Eddie safe.
.
.
"Well now. Those… those… cunts" the old lady spat, making everyone gape as she adjusted herself "Who do they think they are?"
"Estelle!" Jack laughed softly "If I were a little older…"
"I would still wreak ya" she winked and they all laughed.
"Seriously though, what do we do?" Ianto asked.
"Mister Mayor, the month is September… October just around the corner. So… let's see about a town meeting for the Halloween Party? Maybe an Alien Theme?"
Mayor Greene stared at her with confusion as they did not traditionally do one of those but then he stood from the desk he had bene sitting on "Shit. Yes. Yes… but we need to keep those arseholes out of it."
"Do those remote-control helicopters work?" Jack asked pointing as some behind the Mayor.
"Yes, we use them to search for lost people in the woods… easier to do a fly over and drones coast so much… why?"
John looked at Owen and then over at Rhys before he said in a defiant tone "We can fuck their night up, keep them busy."
"We need some little torches or something" Rhys said as he fell into step with the other two men who were carrying helicopters in their arms.
Yeah.. a plan was forming and it was not going to be fun for those black suited twats at all.
This must be what it feels like to have brothers.
