Far off in the dark reaches of wherever things like this lived, there existed an entity. The living embodiment of Chaos. In its spiritual form, it was nothing more than a red-tinted mist that hummed with the reverberation of anticipation. It flicked through various worlds of a different nature. One world had ninjas, another had strange heroes saving people, and there was even one with a madman in a blue box! The entity groaned, or rather, vibrated in an agitated fashion.

"Uuuggh! I've seen all these before and created chaos for them! When will something new come along? I'm so bored!!"

The entity, despite being an unfathomable age, whined like a small toddler at its lack of entertainment. Through its whining, it flicked through world after world after world until, finally, it saw something new.

"Oh, what's this?"

The entity stared into the gateway at a tan-skinned, straw hat wearing, spaztastic rubber boy barreling his way to freedom. A faint voice could be heard emanating from the gateway.

"Gomu gomu noooo…."

The entity's entire form began brightly dazzling in a light blue hue rather than its normal red.

"This is it! What is this?"

It looked above the gateway and read out in a blue font.

"One Piece."

The entity then turned the programming back to the beginning and viewed it in its entirety in record time. It then flicked to a black-and-white book of sorts and read through its entirety. The entity halted and suddenly yelled out.

"YES!! This is it! A world that's abundantly teeming with cogs and moving bits! This story is masterful and it isn't even finished! I have so many ideas but first, I must enter!"

With that being said the entity jumped at the gateway and shimmied its way through and into the bustling blue sky. It looked around at the ocean below and spotted a brightly colored red and yellow ship flying a Jolly Roger wearing a straw hat.

"Time to meet the locals!"

The entity spoke before halting itself from hurtling down below.

"Almost forgot, gotta look good!"

The entity snapped its nonexistent fingers and suddenly morphed into a corporeal form. The mist took the shape of a complete blackout silhouette form in the outline of a man. The form held no discernible features other than a mouth, colored pure red. (Think Truth from FMA:B but black instead of white.)

"Yes! Easy peasy squeezy lemons!"

The entity then barreled down toward the unsuspecting ship in a fit of strange laughter. (His laugh is Skull Kids creepy laugh so have fun with that one.)

The Straw Hat crew was currently scattered about the deck of the Thousand Sunny, each doing their activities. There was no obnoxious noise on this day. It was merely a warm comfortable silence between the unique family.

The crew was basking in this moment of relaxation. They had left the land of Wano a handful of days prior and they only just now started to take a moment of respite before the next inevitably crazy adventure.

The Helmsman of the Straw Hat pirates, Jinbe, could be spotted sitting at the helm on the uppermost deck. The winds were calm so he could have stepped away but he knew of the sudden weather changes that could occur often in the New World and thus wanted to remain at the ready.

It wasn't long before he was approached by a blonde-haired chef with curly eyebrows and a signature cigarette in his mouth. "Black Leg" Sanji, the chef of the Straw Hat pirates, handed Jinbe a warm tea from a platter of drinks he was easily toting around in his offhand. Jinbe took it with a smile and inhaled its scent before taking in a sip of the hot contents.

"Delicious! Thank you, Sanji."

Sanji gave a small bow of his head before moving down the steps onto the main deck which was covered in beautiful green grass. He made his way over to their resident red-headed navigator resting outstretched on her chair and the black-haired archaeologist who was nose-deep in a book about ancient civilizations.

"Your drinks Nami-san, Robin-chan."

the chef spoke sweetly as he handed Nami her tangerine-flavored carbonated beverage.

"Thank you, Sanji-kun!" Nami smiled happily as she took the drink.

Sanji handed Robin her plain black coffee in a white porcelain glass.

"Thank you very much, Sanji." She smiled back as she took the hot drink.

Sanji felt warm at the thanks he received and moved on to where Chopper sat. The small reindeer doctor sat upon the mast bench and carefully ground up some strange herbs for a medicine he was making. He only stopped his task when Sanji approached him and handed him a cup of mixed juice. Chopper smiled happily and took the cup with a clink of his hooves.

"Thank you, Sanji!" The doctor squeaked happily.

"You're very welcome, Chopper!" Sanji responded as he walked over to where "God" Usopp, the sniper, and Franky, the shipwright, sat near the railing of the deck.

They had a miscellaneous pile of metal pieces and machinery laid about between the two of them. Usopp wore his goggles as he inspected a pellet he was making and Franky used his mini yellow hands to tweak a screwdriver against a metal canister. The two men looked up at Sanji's approach and greeted him kindly.

"Yo, Sanji, what's that?" Usopp spoke as he moved his goggles up onto his head.

"Hey, bro!" Franky greeted boisterously as he lifted his sunglasses momentarily.

Sanji smiled and moved the platter down to them.

"Drinks, gentlemen."

Usopp smiled as he grabbed one of the two cola bottles on the platter, Franky grabbed the other and the two thanked Sanji. Upon turning away Sanji could hear the clink of the two bottles toasting together.

Sanji walked up the other set of stairs leading to the kitchen he stopped in front of a sleeping green-haired swordsman. "Pirate Hunter" Roronoa Zoro let his good eye open and looked up at Sanji. Sanji didn't speak but tossed the man a bottle of his favorite sake. Zoro caught it with ease and nodded at the chef.

"Thanks."

"Mm."

The small exchange was one of nonhostility, a rarity for the two.

Sanji then walked over to a tall skeleton with an afro. The man was writing down sheet music as he hummed a tune. Sanji set down a glass of milk on the table at which he rested. "Soul King" Brook took notice and chuckled.

"Yohohoho, thank you Sanji-san."

"You're welcome, Brook."

Sanji smiled before walking into the kitchen with his empty tray and reappearing holding a plate with a large piece of cooked meat on the bone.

"Luffy!" Sanji spoke loudly as he awaited his captain.

A strange elongating noise could be heard as the excited face of the 19-year-old Emperor of the Sea, "Straw Hat" Luffy appeared before Sanji. The chef chuckled and tossed the meat to the man who grabbed it from the air much like a ravenous beast would. He ate it hungrily as he moved his body to jump down from the crow's nest and rejoin his head. He spoke through mouthfuls of meat.

"Fank youm Samji!"

Sanji smiled and took a well-earned drag from his lit cigarette.

Suddenly, and without warning, a voice pierced the warm silence.

"Hey, don't I get a drink or snack too?"

Sanji stopped cold as he turned his head upward and spotted a plain black silhouette staring at him, with nonexistent eyes. The chef jumped backward as Zoro drew his blade and pointed it at the intruder. Every other Straw Hat looked alive and ready to fight.

"Who are you?" Zoro spoke coldly as his intense gaze never wavered from this being. He wasn't getting a haki reading from it, whatever it was.

"My my, testy. I'm just a visitor to this excellent story! I'm quite familiar with all of you already!" The entity spoke as he smiled with his only feature.

"What does he mean, story?" Usopp asked quizzically.

"No idea," Franky responded.

Robin had a creased brow as she watched the interaction and Nami grabbed her clima tact from its spot on the floor next to her.

"Why do you have no eyes?" Luffy asked with a tilt of his head.

"Oh, that? I find it easiest to assume a form without all the busy stuff. Just a plain mouth seems to do the trick nicely!" The entity responded truthfully as he stood up to begin floating through the air and landed next to Luffy.

"Woah! So cool!" Luffy's eyes sparkled as he laughed.

"Luffy don't play around with it!" Zoro scolded.

"You're a neat black guy!" Luffy spoke laughingly, ignoring his irritated first mate.

"Oh, definitely don't say that." The entity half chuckled as he spoke his name.

"I'm U."

"You're me?!"

"No, I– good lord you do only have one brain cell. No, it's my name. Just the letter, U." U spoke firmly as he looked amongst the crew.

U suddenly clasped his hands together and gestured outward.

"Now, I don't normally interfere with a masterpiece. Especially an unfinished one but I'm impatient and couldn't wait to get started with my fun!" The strange entity spoke with glee as he clapped his hands back together.

"Your fun?" Jinbe asked as he walked down the steps from the upper deck.

"Yes! I get dreadfully bored looking through worlds and making my fun but this one came to me and I must say, it's brimming with potential! I admit that there is much I could do without you all but I think your adventure is by far the most interesting one happening right now!" U spoke quickly as he paced back and forth.

"Enough of this!" Zoro yelled as he leaped over the railing and readied his katana. Sanji joined him as well as Usopp and Franky but U simply waved his hand and froze everyone in place.

"Now now, calm yourselves. No need for violence, not that you could hurt me anyway! Ahahaha!" U laughed mockingly as he waved his wrist and lined up every crew member side by side in an instant.

"Now, I'm going to reset you all back to the beginning to do this little adventure again, only this time I'll let you keep your memories! Sounds fun right? Also, I'll be hitting a randomize button on the world to get some wacky stuff going on as well! Who knows what will be different? New people around that weren't before? Maybe there will be a villain you meet much sooner than you should! God, the possibilities truly are endless!" U got riled up as he moved to touch each Straw Hat's forehead thus rendering them unconscious. When he got to Luffy the Captain let loose a lethal blast of Conqueror's Haki and stared intensely at U. U got very close to Luffy's face as the spot where his eyes should be opened up to reveal a single blood-orange eye with an evil glint.

"Nice try boy."

The eye disappeared as quickly as it had appeared and U touched Luffy's forehead causing him to black out. Now being finished with the last member, U rubbed his chin and snapped his finger. He pointed to the spaces at the end of the line and three more people materialized into existence, already frozen in place. A red-horned oni, a blue-haired woman, and a peculiarly dressed man in pink swan attire.

"Let's add you three as well because why not? You're all basically honorary members anyway!" U grinned maniacally as he tapped their foreheads and clapped his hands together as each Straw Hat disappeared into thin air.

U stares into nothingness as he turns and addresses you.

"Hope you enjoy this as much as I do, reader."

With a snap of his fingers, U materialized a big orange button floating in the air before him. Upon it, the button was inlaid with two arrows crossing over one another.

"This is my favorite part!" U squealed giddily.

The entity of chaos slammed his hand down on the button as the world faded to black.

Author Notes:

Hello. I apologize to anyone who was waiting for more chapters of One Piece: Chaos. I publish primarily on AO3 and so I decided to redo my story over there and never got around to doing it here on FF. Tbh, I hate the way publishing works on FF mobile app but I want to put this story back out.

I hope y'all can enjoy how I've changed the story.
