The police think that they know who I am. The funny thing was I didn't even know who I was, well not completely. They thought that I was the vigilante, The Robyn Hood who was going after the city's white-collar criminals. They also thought that had me trapped and I didn't know a way out but they didn't know that I had done this before and I already had a plan to exonerate myself. I also knew that I wasn't going to go to prison again, even though probably couldn't legally send me to prison. Even though I wouldn't be going there, I couldn't help but wonder what the girls' juvenile detention center was like.
They took my mugshot and did my fingerprints. I knew what to do. I knew Dinah wouldn't be able to get me out of it, but I didn't really think that I needed her to. The case against me was actually pretty flimsy.
"This is a mistake." I told Quentin.
"I'll be the judge of that." He remarked. He was actually already breaking protocol. I was kind of surprised that he was even allowed to be involved in this case because it was a clear conflict of interest. "I'm just gonna ask you a few questions. They're standard for the report. Have you been arrested before?"
"No." I answered. At the very least, I hadn't been arrested in this country. "Detective, this is a mistake."
"As far as I can tell, the only mistake is me not shooting you at the docks." He argued.
"You can't even prove that was me." I pointed out. "I'm not who you think I am."
"I know exactly who you are. You're a dangerous menace to society." He stated. It still didn't make sense for him to blame me for something he agreed to. Did he think that I sunk the ship myself?
"Detective, I know that you hate me for what happened to Sara, but that doesn't mean that I am this masked vigilante." I pointed out.
"No, but the security camera footage from the UNIDAC auction does." He argued. Actually considering that they only had me holding it and not wearing, it did not.
"I told you. I found the hood in a duffel bag because I thought it belonged to the shooter." I stated.
"Did you just take it home with you because it's not there anymore?" He asked. "And what about Adam Hunt. That just happened to happen right across from where you were having your illegal party."
"First, it wasn't illegal because I didn't drink anything. Second, that is a coincidence." I pointed out.
"No, when they pile up like that, it becomes evidence." He declared.
"What is going on here?" Malcolm interrupted as he opened the door.
"This isn't any of your concern." Quentin replied.
"Actually it is. Everything that was said in this room is completely inadmissible because you were interrogating a minor without her parents present." Mom argued. "Not to mention, you don't have any grounds for arresting her in the first place."
"I have solid grounds." Quentin responded. "And I have evidence."
"Your evidence is circumstantial at best." Malcolm said. "Also, this interrogation is over."
"Sure. You have 15 minutes." Quentin declared before he left the room. I was pretty sure that he didn't have the right to say how long I had.
One thing that I was pretty sure of was I didn't even think this case would go to court. The mayor most likely didn't want the negative PR of charging a teenager without any solid evidence against her, but that didn't mean that there wouldn't be any other repercussions. I still needed to exonerate myself to protect my family.
"I have never liked that guy." Malcolm stated.
"He blames me for Sara's death." I told him.
"And that's not even your fault." Malcolm replied.
"I'm not dressing up in a green hood and shooting people, I mean have you ever seen me wearing green? It's so not my color." I joked. It probably wasn't the time for that.
"Just don't say anything without your attorney present. I have the best firm in the city at my disposal." He told me. I didn't need to ask for someone specific and I did have confidence that Malcolm was interested in protecting me.
I figured that if they were going to dismiss the case, they probably wouldn't do it on the same day that I was arrested. Though, I was a little surprised that the district attorney was willing to press charges against me. There was an advantage to being Olivia Queen as opposed to Oliver Queen.
I was a little upset that I wasn't at school. I wanted to see Courtney some more. I wished I had her number, even though I was currently without my phone. They couldn't use that against me because they needed a warrant to look through it, even though I was smart enough to not look up stuff on my phone that could be used against me.
A few minutes later, I was told that my attorney was there. I went to meet them. It was a blonde woman. She looked a little younger than my mom.
"Olivia, it's good to meet you. I'm Barbara Dugan and I will be your attorney." She told me. She looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place how she looked familiar.
"Pleased to meet you." I replied. "Thank you for representing me."
"Well I have a daughter your age and I couldn't bare to see someone like be convicted for something that you didn't do. Of course, based on my knowledge, this seems unlikely to go to trial." She explained. "Now we need to head to the courthouse for your arraignment."
We headed down there and I was feeling confident, but I felt that I should try to look a little nervous because I felt like a teenager might not be comfortable in the middle of a courtroom and it would probably help with sympathy.
They listed the charges. Thea was not in school either because I was pretty sure that me being in court was grounds for an excused absence. Unfortunately, Tommy had a surgery and couldn't make it.
"Hello, Miss Queen, Miss Dugan." The judge said.
"Hi." I replied.
"How do you plea, Miss Queen?" She asked.
"Not guilty, Your Honor." Barbara stated.
"What are the bail arrangements?" The judge inquired.
"Your Honor, Miss Queen's family owns a pair of private jets. There is no bail that would insure her appearance at a trial." The prosecutor replied.
"Objection." Barbara declared. "For one this case is circumstantial and biased. The arresting officer is the father of her deceased best friend. This case should be dismissed, but barring that she should be released into house arrest while the district attorney has time to further analyze this case."
"Judging the severity of the charges, I do not feel that I can dismiss the case." The judge declared. "But I will agree to bail and house arrest. The bail will be set to 10 million dollars. The defendant will be fitted for a GPS device. This court is now adjourned."
I couldn't help but notice that the bail was lower. I was pretty sure that there was already some doubt over whether or not I had done it, but I did agree that simply dismissing the case would be a bit too easy. I was glad that I was being put on house arrest because it would give me the chance to prove my innocence by proving my whereabouts. I also already had plans for the party. I wanted to do something based on the time of the year.
"Well it wasn't the best possible result, but I think we got off pretty good. Don't worry. I'll get this case dismissed. It'll just take some time." Barbara promised.
Once I got home, I had the anklet device put on my…ankle. They had to tighten it a lot to fit me. I couldn't help but wonder if it was the smallest size they had. They probably didn't need to use them very much on teenage girls. Tommy was at least home for that.
"Hmm I wonder if there's anything that I can match this with." I stated.
"Okay, this device has a direct line to the precinct. As long as you don't leave the property, it won't go off." The policer officer said. "Any questions?"
"Yeah, I was planning on hosting a Halloween party that may extend to the yard." I explained. "Would that cause any problems?"
"Your yard is part of your property." The officer explained.
"A Halloween party?" Mom challenged. "I don't believe that I agreed to that."
"Mom, I want to show people that I'm not afraid of this. It's not like have to worry about me drinking or anything." I countered.
"I think your mom is right here." Tommy declared. "You probably shouldn't be having a party."
The only thing was that I would need was to ask Thea about the guest list since I didn't really know anyone at school other than Courtney and Felicity and I didn't have either of their numbers. I hoped that I would be able to get them to come. I couldn't help but wonder what people around school were going to say about me. Some people would probably think that I was cool. I was a bit surprised that they weren't going to let me go while I was on house arrest, but it was probably a good thing. There was probably some sort of danger in going there. I was pretty sure that the criminals of the city might have believed it and I knew that the school was nowhere near as safe as my home.
Later, I was working on my homework in my room when Iris came in.
"Please close the door." I instructed.
"I guess I'm surprised that you're in this situation right now." She commented.
"It's not as bad as you think." I argued.
"Olivia, they have you on video holding the hood." She pointed out. It really wasn't as concrete as she said it was.
"Holding a hood, and not even wearing it." I stated. "I also knew the security camera was there. This was something that I considered and also planned for."
"Did you want to get arrested?" She asked.
"No, but I considered it a possibility and I planned accordingly." I pointed out. "You also have to realize that the vigilante started to appear shortly after I returned to Star City. Someone was going to make the connection eventually."
"And how exactly are you going to avoid going to prison?" She challenged. It seemed like she didn't have the same understanding of the law that I did.
"Well with the evidence they have, the case against me is pretty flimsy, but I also know that even if I get off legally, it won't sway people from thinking that I am the vigilante. That's part of the reason I wanted you to know about this." I explained.
"Just because you're calm about this doesn't mean that your family is." Iris argued. "And if what you say is true, they would be just as much of targets as you would be and what does you telling me have to do with any of this?"
"I told you because I still have a mission that needs to be carried out and I told you because if someone sees me not here while I am on house arrest." I responded before I then showed my laptop to her. "This is Leo Mueller. He recently arrived in Star City to sell hundreds of stolen guns."
"Don't you think that maybe you shouldn't get in any more trouble by going after this guy?" She asked.
"Do you want weapons like these on the streets?" I questioned. "We cannot allow anyone to have these weapons and it can't wait for me to get off."
"I don't think you can after that unless you have a way to disable the device you're wearing without setting it off." Iris told me.
"I didn't say that I would be doing this." I replied. "I want you to go out wearing my hood. I'm not asking to engage or to kill anyone, but I would like you to do what you can to get the heat off of me. The two of us are similar sizes. Everything that you need is in the old steel factory. Just don't do anything to put yourself at risk of being attacked or arrested."
I did have a sense of trust in Iris. I felt that she was capable of doing what I needed her to do, but she also had the sense of self-preservation to not do anything stupid.
Later, I went to a meeting with the district attorney and Detective Lance. I felt weird being escorted there.
"Thank you both for coming." She stated.
"Well I couldn't resist the opportunity to get out of the house." I quipped.
"I'm going to cut to the chase. Detective Lance arrested your client without consulting my office first." She explained. So that was how the charges were brought about. "So, I am willing to consider a plea in this case."
"No." I declared.
"You spent five years away from your peers on a secluded island." She continued. "Given that, we would support a plea of insanity with some time in a psychiatric facility."
"And how can you even prove my client has done anything that she is accused of?" Barbara countered. She seemed very passionate about this. "She's 16 years old. She doesn't even have the background in archery that her sister has. We will not be considering your plea."
"She's not crazy. She's a cold-blooded murderer." Quentin stated.
"I'm actually neither." I pointed out.
"There's nothing you can say to me that I would believe." He replied.
"And that is clear example of bias." Barbara replied. "You think my client is responsible for this because you want to put her away for your daughter's death. I think this case needs further review before you can consider a trial date."
"I will review it and I will make sure that Detective Lance is not involved with it, but as of right now, this vigilante has only been around since Olivia Queen returned to town and her whereabouts cannot be verified during any of her appearances. I think that is enough ground for these charges to stand." The DA declared.
I wasn't sure how to react. I decided that best thing to do was not show emotion at all. The situation was still very weird. Part of the reason that I didn't want to take a polygraph test was because I didn't know much about my past, I wasn't entirely sure that I could pass it. The thing I noticed was Barbara seemed absolutely certain that I wasn't guilty.
The following day, I was preparing for the party. I headed outside because I needed to talk to Thea.
"Do you think this makes sense for an Alice In Wonderland costume?" I asked my sister as I held up a blue dress. I realized that my choices for costumes were a little limited and I probably should have done something about that sooner. I noticed that Thea looked nervous and was frowning. "Hey, I'm going to be okay. I promise I'll be okay."
"I thought the same thing when you and Dad left five years ago on the yacht too." She declared.
"Thea, I didn't do any of this stuff? Do you really think I'm capable of murder?" I questioned. I was pretty sure that the people I killed were in self-defense…mostly. "You don't need to be worried about me."
"You're my little sister. It's my job to be worried about you. I don't know what to believe. You're distant and you've been acting pretty weird." She pointed out. She was holding the hosen. "On top of that, you gave me this."
"Thea, I got that from the Beijing Airport." I remarked. "It's a good thing that I didn't get you the stuffed panda or you would think I was Panda Girl."
That got her to smile and I was pretty sure that I convinced her. Part of me wondered if she always knew and was just pretending like she didn't because she believed in me. Mom had done that, but I didn't want to accuse Thea of it.
"I know that you're not a killer." She replied. "I guess I'm just really scared about losing you again."
"You're not going to lose me again." I replied before I hugged her. I wanted to tell her so badly, but I felt like she would be too worried.
"Is this a bad time?" A voice interrupted. Okay, now I was genuinely surprised. What was she doing here? How did she get here?
"Courtney? What are you doing here?" I asked.
"My mom told me that you would be here." She explained. Her mom? "She's your attorney."
"Oh." I replied. That was why Barbara looked familiar, because she looked like Courtney. "This is my sister Thea. Courtney is someone that I met at school and apparently her mom is my attorney."
"Well I'm glad that my sister made a friend." Thea said as she shook Courtney's hand.
"What are you doing here though?" I asked Courtney.
"I wanted to see you. I missed you at school." She explained. "So I thought I would come to you."
"Well maybe you can come to my party tonight." I offered.
"I would love to." Courtney agreed. Well that meant that I could get her to show up. I didn't think that Felicity would be there because I wanted to see her again. It was too bad that I didn't have a way to contact her because the school didn't have any sort of directory. Not to mention, I couldn't guarantee she would come even if I did invite her. I would still be happy even if it was just Courtney I supposed.
The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to know what Olivia's experience on the island was like. Did something there lead to me having superpowers or was I born with them or something? I hadn't even been on the island when I got to this world. I knew I was still in Bratva, but how had I wound up there? Had I still saved Anatoly? What had happened with Slade? What happened with Sara? I had so many questions that I didn't know if I would ever know the answers to. I couldn't help but wonder if there was a way to see inside of my own head and see Olivia's version of events.
I was in my room as I started to get ready for the party. I was pretty sure that I was starting to get used to wearing skirts and dresses since I seemed to be okay with wearing them and actively chose to wear one as a Halloween costume. I probably could have sent someone to get me a costume, but I didn't know what to choose and I did like Alice in Wonderland. Plus, it would give me a chance to practice a British accent.
The party itself was pretty impressive. I was glad that I was still able to make a good party. I looked over to Thea who was dressed in a red Victorian gown. She was supposed to be a vampire, which was further illustrated by the fangs in her mouth.
"Come on. Let's not think about what's going to happen and let's just focus on having fun." I suggested. "I promise this will all work out."
I went to the stage and had them turn the music off so I could talk.
"Hello everyone. Welcome to Wonderland." I replied in my best British accent. I didn't know if it was any good because the only British person I knew was Walter and I really didn't know him in this reality. "There aren't any neighbors for over nine and half kilometers, so you can be as loud as you want."
I stepped off the stage and walked over to Iris.
"That accent sounds so fake." She replied before we went inside the house.
"So, I don't want you to engage. Just to be seen without getting caught." I instructed.
"I'm gonna tell you right now if I have a chance to stop this, I am going to stop this." Iris declared. "I will still make sure to be safe, but I am not just going to let this happen. Do you understand?"
"Yes, I understand. There was a reason that I decided to tell you." I agreed.
After she left, I happened to notice a bit of an unexpected guest was here. I didn't think that she would want to come. I walked over to her.
"Hey, Dinah." I greeted her. She was dressed as a French maid. It looked like something that she had thrown together pretty quickly.
"I don't really have a lot of time to stay because I need to get to work." She declared. "I just wanted to say that I was wrong for ever blaming you what happened to Sara. This stuff with my father has put a lot into perspective. You weren't responsible for her death. I also don't think that you are this vigilante. She actually cares about people and also wants to help them."
"Thank you, but you didn't need to come all the way here just to tell me that." I told her.
"I think it was something that works better in person." She remarked. "I will see you around."
I decided to walk around for a little because there was one person in particular I was looking for. I didn't expect to run right into her.
"Sorry." She apologized. "Wow. You look so good."
"Thanks so do you." I replied. She was dressed as a cat in an outfit that looked a little bit tight and showed a little bit of cleavage too.
"Do you think that we could possibly talk in private. There was a something that I needed to ask you." She stated with a blush. I wondered why she was blushing, but I didn't want to make her uncomfortable.
I took her up to my room with me.
"So there's something that I need to say." She admitted. "After we talked the other day, I decided to go home and do some research on you. I can't imagine what you had to go through on that island. I probably shouldn't even be talking about because I don't want to cause to relive some bad memories from there."
"No one ever really wants to me about it." I declared. I wished that there was more that I could say. I didn't know if I should trust someone that I just met, but I felt like I could trust Courtney with it. "The problem is I don't really have too much to say. A lot of it was so traumatic that I don't really remember a lot of it. Maybe it's for the best that I don't. There's just one thing that I want to ask you. Do you think that I did this stuff that I'm accused of?"
"Olivia, I don't think that I know you well enough to answer that." She replied. It kind of seemed she thought that I was, but wasn't going to say anything unless I told her. "I haven't been following this stuff and I don't know it's you, but from what I've heard, this vigilante has gone after some pretty bad people and stopped them. I don't know why it's a big deal. Why should someone who's doing the right thing be charged with a crime, especially if the people that she's fighting are worse. I think that superheroes get a bad rap. There was something else I wanted to ask you and feel free to say no to it."
"What is it?" I asked.
"I read that according to your medical reports that you had a large amount of scars on your body." She said. I wasn't sure why the scars were there if I could heal. Maybe the healing was a new thing. I also wasn't sure how I had gotten them. I did know where this was going and it made me feel kind of nervous. "Do you think that I can see them?"
"Courtney, I…" I stammered. I had been okay with showing Laurel because of the history between us.
"You know what. Don't. That's way too personal of a thing to ask someone you barely know." She replied. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked."
"Can you close the door please?" I requested. I knew that if anyone saw what was going on as I walked by, people could definitely get the wrong idea. Once the door was closed, I started to unbutton my dress. There were thoughts in my mind about how this could go but I really didn't want it to go that way and I trusted Courtney.
I showed her my upper chest. I didn't know why it felt so embarrassing. They were just breasts, She had some of them too, but I didn't want to see them.
"How did you survive all of that?" She questioned. I probably should have died from some of the things that I went through. She looked like she wanted to touch them but wasn't going to.
"I always had the desire to make it back home no matter what the cost and that was probably what helped me keep going." I replied.
"I wish I could have known you back then." She told me as I covered back up.
"I don't." I declared as she looked at me. "Courtney, my best friend died when I went there. That's why it's hard for me to get close to people outside of my family because I don't want to lose anyone else."
"I should probably go. I think I want to go to the party." She stammered before she hastily exited. I was pretty sure that there was some sort of attraction there, but I was glad that nothing happened. Even though I died, I still felt like I only loved Felicity. Part of me didn't want to be with anyone, even this other version of her.
I sat on my bed thinking. Was I attracted to Courtney? Did I only want to be friends with her? Did I completely overestimate her own attraction to me? What would Felicity want me to do in this other world without her? Would she want me to be happy? I couldn't even say that the Felicity of this world was her, because she wasn't and it felt kind of wrong to pursue her as such.
At that point, there was a knock on the door.
"Miss Queen, if you have guests up here, should I have some drinks sent up?" A waiter asked me. Oh. I never found out had sent someone after me in here.
"No, it's just me." I replied as I went to open the door.
A fight broke out between the two of us. I was a little surprised that this person was willing to hurt me but some people didn't have morals. I could feel the monitor break off. I actually wasn't scared about being shot, but maybe I should be because I didn't know the full extent of my powers. He picked up the gun before he was shot dead by Quentin.
A little bit later, all of the guest were cleared out and I was sitting with Thea on the couch and Tommy across from us.
"How did you know I was in trouble?" I asked Quentin.
"Because when that guy fighting you, he broke the ankle monitor." He explained.
"Olivia, are you okay?" Mom asked as she and Malcolm rushed into the room.
"Mom, I'm fine." I declared.
"This is your fault." She accused. "This person wouldn't have come after her if not for you."
"I know and I'm sorry. An arms dealer was attacked across town by Robyn Hood." He explained. That name was going to stick, wasn't it? There had to be a way to get a better one out there. "In light of this, the case against your daughter is being dropped."
I was pretty sure that I would be hearing from Barbara about it soon. I also needed to talk to her about how Courtney was her daughter.
"Well I think we are done here then. So please get the hell out of my house." Mom told him.
"Detective, thank you." I remarked before he left.
The following day, I was back in school. As soon as I got there, Courtney gave me a hug.
"I guess you're glad to see me." I quipped.
"My mom told me what happened." She replied. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I'm fine." I declared. "What makes me feel worse is that I nearly put you in harm's way."
"I'm sorry that I asked you to show me your scars. I didn't need to see them and I know it had to make you feel uncomfortable." She remarked.
"Do you want to know why I don't want people to see my scars, I mean besides the fact that some of them are in intimate places?" I asked.
"Why?" She retorted.
"Because if people saw them, they would think of me as damaged." I declared. "They would try to fix me."
"I don't think you need to be fixed. I like you how you are." She stared. "Now we should get to class."
After school, I didn't tell Iris what had happened with Courtney. It was mostly because I didn't know what happened with Courtney. I had a feeling that the two of them would eventually meet, but I didn't know when.
"So I think there's something that you didn't plan for. I didn't think you planned for so many people to have questions about you." She stated. "This may get the general public off of your tail, but I think those closest to you will still suspect you."
"Right now, we have to deal with this arms deal." I declared. I would make sure to let the people when the time was right.
I went to the site of the deal to stop it, but when I got there, there was something unexpected. There was a blast of energy shot out, causing both the sellers and the buyers to be knocked unconscious. I decided to tie them in a fishing net and make an anonymous call to the police. What was more on my mind was who had come to help me and how was I going to find them again?
So Olivia managed to get free with some help from Courtney's mom. Speaking of Courtney, the two shared a few intimate moments but any feelings seem to be unclear as what happened at the docks. Please don't forget to review.
